@SaintWacko Oh I like that

@AshleyNunn Me too :D

well my brother called and apologized for yesterday. I accepted his apology but I still don't really want anything to do with him for awhile. Does that make me a bad person? :/

Keep in mind I don't know anything about the situation but I'm going to say it doesn't make you a bad person at all. It's your life. You don't have to spend it with people who make you upset, even if they aren't entirely malicious.

he felt pretty damn malicious yesterday :/ I thought he was going to hit me
but I don't think he remembers much of what happened. He kind of snapped.
he seemed kind of confused today when he called.

8:10 PM
Like I said, I don't know anything about the situation, but you sound 100% justified in your feelings.

I guess it'll just take some time

Especially if you thought he was going to hit you. Violence is not cool.

@spugsley Ugh that sucks, I know someone who was dealing with a similar situation and it's not fun.
But what ever you think is the "right" thing to do, don't stay in a situation which is not good for you.

that's where I'm at. I can only handle so much. Even talking to him on the phone just now was making me anxious so I had to get off

He can't hit you over the phone

8:14 PM
@GnomeSlice Helpful @Gnome, helpful.

So there's that St least, for now
at*
No I mean
Agh

@spugsley Yeah, it's not like you're helping him if you're in that state anyway.

Nevermind

Your phone has been autocorrecting at to St too?

Yes
Well only if I type st by mistake

8:16 PM
@GnomeSlice no I get it. You're right, having that distance is good right now. But anxiety flares aren't really good with logic :p

Anxiety sucks eggs. I have it about different stuff. Like kissing.
And phone calls

mine's kinda indiscriminate. It can really be anything anytime. But I guess that's why GAD is GAD

@GnomeSlice i think thats just being generally shy

No
I don't think so
Something specifically about kissing scares the shit out of me
There's a word for it
Philematophobia or something

i mean. if you think about what it is, yeah it's kind of scary and weird.

8:20 PM
@GnomeSlice phobias suck so much ass

Someone I met recently has that one... fear of tall ceilings. Kinda sucks cause we can't go out to movies due to that.

@MadMAxJr wat

I've never met a girl I had the slightest interest in kissing
Shit like holding hands, sure

user15026
THe illogical stuff our brains can do is both horrifying and fascinating

@Rapitor Altocelarophobia

user15026
8:22 PM
Mostly sucky and shitty, though

Even other physically intimate things

@GodEmperorDune please don't do the "haven't met the right one" thing. That's really condescending no matter what it's about

I don't mind
Pretty sure that's not it though

@spugsley sorry, didn't mean anything by it

I get it all the time with not wanting to have kids. People literally tell me that my husband just "isn't the right one" ugh

user15026
8:23 PM
@GnomeSlice This is why being human sucks sometimes, because you're like "this isn't logical" and you know that, but it doesn't change that whatever that thing is is a thing that just freaks you out because reasons

user15026
@spugsley Stab them in the face.

RIGHT

@spugsley o.0

I'm pretty sure you can go to prison for that

I had anxiety issues while working tech support. That has finally reduced since I no longer work in a part of helpdesk that takes outside customer calls.

8:23 PM
Just borrow @AshleyNunn's hug gun

@spugsley Maybe those people aren't the right ones. And you should stab them in the face, yes.

@SaintWacko literally strangers in line at Starbucks have said this to me

@spugsley I think that is a much different and much more offensive context

@Yuuki BAHAHAHAHA

And hit them with hugs... OF DEATH

8:24 PM
@spugsley wtf

I think that defeats the purpose of the hug.

@GodEmperorDune sorry, it's just a knee jerk reaction to "not the right one". I think it makes people feel shitty

I've been listening to this song non-stop today.

TLDR; all people are terrible. Lets get those Boston Dynamics Atlas robots ready for social interaction. Cold, unfeeling, robots. <3

user15026
In general, being told "oh you just haven't done x" where x is the thing that will make whatever thing you are afraid of/anxious over/dealing with better (whether true or otherwise) just sucks

8:24 PM
@GnomeSlice additionally "Is it because you can't have them?" NO STRANGERS THAT IS NOT OKAY

@spugsley Some people are just trying to make conversation
but I mean that's pretty personal I guess

user15026
@GnomeSlice This is not a good way to do so

@spugsley Yeah, wow

I would probably ask somebody that without thinking, and if somebody asked me I probably wouldn't think much of it

user15026
ask me about my cute shirt or about the weather or about whatever local event we are both attending

8:25 PM
Everybody is different

That's not cool at all.

@AshleyNunn how are the bats in the bat hole?

Whenever I tell people I have Tourette's they get all quiet and try to avoid the subject

user15026
my marital/relationship status, my bedroom habits, my childlessness, etc? None of your busienss thank you

It seems like a lot of people just kind of drift through conversations on auto-pilot

8:25 PM
like they don't want to offend me
It's not a big deal to me though, I'm an open book

@AshleyNunn Did you get that cute shirt a this local event we are attending with excellent weather?

Hey, at least you don't spell it turrets, like every other place I see online where someone has a claim of that.

user15026
@GnomeSlice I'm one of hte most open people I know, but sometimes, you just don't say things to people

It would be way more badass if he had turrets

Isn't Tourette's also vastly different from the popular perception of just yelling swear words? I'm sure you get that a lot too

8:26 PM
I wish I had turrets. I really really do. I want them to grow right out of my shoulders.

@twobugs Yes, and yes.
Well, it can be.
That's just the thing everybody knows about.

"This a very serious case of Maginot Line along your shoulders..."

user15026
@SaintWacko You know it

TARGET ACQUIRED - @GnomeSlice's turrets
2

From my understanding it's just about having behavioral 'tics' that are extremely hard to control or resist

8:27 PM
omg turrets
2
@twobugs pretty much

user15026
I think it comes down to "are you actually honestly asking me, or are you using this as an excuse to judge me"

Mine have prevented me from trying to get a driver's license, but I think I might try to get it soon anyway

@AshleyNunn Okay, I get that going up and asking about those things is incredibly offensive because those are very personal things, but just saying those things should never be talked about is not the solution either.

They've been a lot better lately

user15026
@Yuuki When you are a total stranger? It's none of your damn business.

8:28 PM
It depends on how the person in question feels about it.

Wait. You don't go up to a person and push [A] to start a chat with someone and pick from the choice box?

user15026
See above re: asking vs. judging

@Yuuki yes. But there's no way to know that. Unless I say specifically "Hey, would you like to talk about my childlessness" then you shouldn't say anything about it

user15026
most of the time people are just "asking" so they can feel better about their lives, judge you, or tell you some bullshit advice that has no basis in reality or has nothing to do with your acutal stuff
3

8:29 PM
@AshleyNunn THISTHISTHISTHISTHISSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS
@SaintWacko FUCKING OH MY GOD I AM SO HAPPY RIGHT NOW AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

@AshleyNunn Yeah, that's a better explanation

@spugsleyWarMachine new headcanon accepted

I've definitely encountered that personally. Sometimes in job interviews

user15026
So no, @Yuuki, I am not saying "we can't talk about this stuff" I am saying "don't be a dick about it to people you don't know"

@spugsley :D

8:30 PM
@SaintWacko I always wondered if there was a in-universe explanation to why War Machine's arc reactor glowed red instead of blue.

@SaintWacko where did you find this completely accurate full body portrait of me?!?!

@SaintWacko Okay that is severe turrets with aggressive Robert Downey Junior syndrome.

user15026
I will happily talk about my queer neuroatypical freak flag flying hot as fuck fat self til the cows come home, but sometimes, I just wanna buy coffee or toilet paper or whatever and not have someone say a damn thing.

@spugsley Top secret. My Google-fu knows know bounds

4 hours ago, by Yuuki
user image
YES, THAT IS SALT AND PEPPER (POTTS).

8:31 PM
@SaintWacko You just googled "Samantha Pugsley" didn't you?

@Yuuki -1 needs more @spugsley

user15026
And now i am going to put some real clothes on (Pusheen eating pizza shirt!) and go get the ice cream I told myself I could get once i cleaned my living room 2 hours agho

user15026
AND I EVEN HAVE COUPONS

user15026
so that's hella grownup

Lesson 1: People are terrible. Lesson 2: Try to be less terrible than the people you've met. Lesson 3: ???

8:32 PM
@Unionhawk full disclosure - don't actually do this unless you want to see a brillion articles about how my article is terrible because "yay purity and religion"

Heh
@MadMAxJr Lesson 4: PROFIT

@AshleyNunn YUS
@AshleyNunn DOUBLE YUS

I would never be able to safely ride a motorcycle with my tourette's tics
But I can probably get a driver's license

@spugsley hello, may I talk to you about accepting "the bridge" into your life?

@GnomeSlice and coincidentally, also if you had turrets

8:33 PM
I don't know, that would probably be more efficient

@spugsley To be fair, having turrets doesn't mean you can't ride safely.

Just, blasting your way through traffic

Now I want to do something artsy and with turrets.
3

According to The Bridge army movement chart: i.stack.imgur.com/yWWup.png Spugsley has never deployed armies, but has been the target many times. So my sympathy.

Does anyone want a H.U.G gun 3d printed?

user15026
8:33 PM
@spugsley I got the Pusheen shirt at Hot Topic yesterday along with a Kirby shirt and my friend looked at me all serious face and was like "sweetie you got the two best fat kid pride shirts in the whole place"

user15026
@RonanForman Meeeeeeeeeeeee

@MadMAxJr O_O WHAT IS THIS

Fredley put that up earlier, it's some data metrics on stuff in chat I think.

@spugsley This is 30% of the "I blame x" data that @fredley was compiling

I really, really want to see this with more data.

8:34 PM
@AshleyNunn You'd have to do the 3d printing yourself.

Actually my new housemate has a 3d printer I think, so maybe not.

user15026
@RonanForman I am sure I could find someplace to get it done :D

Photobucket puts their images really far down.

user15026
And then I would be like HUG GUN WHATS UP

8:35 PM
@Unionhawk well I always blame @Wipqozn so what does that mean?

@AshleyNunn Like the one I drew or different?

@Yuuki Imgur only gur

@Yuuki I think that's intentional.

@RonanForman Can you 3D print me a porkchop?

@spugsley It means that @fredley gave up in the middle of doing his analysis

8:36 PM
@fredley As in one you can eat?

@GnomeSlice Yeah. It's just annoying to dig through the HTML to find the source image URL.

@fredley You know you can just buy a porkchop right?

@Unionhawk sounds about right

@RonanForman Is that possible?

user15026
@RonanForman Like the awesome one you drew! Or whatever makes your heart happy, I just like the idea of having a hug gun for realsies in any form

8:36 PM
@Unionhawk what now?

@fredley No.

@Unionhawk I will finish it

user15026
@Unionhawk In fact, I happen to be making them for dinner tonight.

One day
@RonanForman :(

@fredley I might make a pixelated 3d one at some point.

8:37 PM
Also, what weird country is this where it's ok to ask people about their lack of kids?

It isn't okay

I mean, what if you can't have kids?

But if you want to talk about what weird country, The South, I guess

Ugh, I can't wait for the new Star Wars to come out. I want to watch awesome lightsaber duels but not have to buy the prequel movies to get HD quality.

@Unionhawk I'm from the South. Better that than the North.

8:38 PM
@fredley The American south

@Unionhawk STOP GIVING AWAY MY SECRETS

@fredley LIES!

@Unionhawk Oh, that South

btw @fredley I expect you to turn in your family headcount report. I expect a 200% y/y growth from you

@fredley Yes

8:39 PM
@RonanForman I would have cc'd you, but then you'd have said you're from the midlands or something

@badp wtf are you talking about

@fredley if you live here you ask "Is it because you can't have kids?" because apparently some people find that an acceptable topic of conversation

@Unionhawk He wants me to fatten up I think

@Unionhawk It's a "having kids" joke.

@fredley I am, which makes my vote for the north actually count.

8:39 PM
@Unionhawk the family headcount report y/y growth goal

@spugsley :-O

I read that as headcanon for some reason
Goddammit bridge

@spugsley Having read your article (the big one), and everything else, where you live seems to be quite conservative.

@Unionhawk they are shoulder turrets now

@fredley I have been asked this multiple times as "small talk". It started with "are you married" then "have any kids yet?" followed by me saying "no" and them saying "well you mean not yet" and me saying "no, I mean no." and then they say "because you can't have them?"

8:40 PM
@RonanForman That's still a @uni level of wrong you've got going there
@spugsley >.<

@spugsley wat

@fredley Well it's not just be voting for where I'm from this way.

People are terrible

@fredley RIGHT. That would be NC and the American south in general

@spugsley wow people are nosy where you live

8:41 PM
Just say yes, and give really graphic details of some surgical procedure
That'll shut them up

@GodEmperorDune good 'ol NC

@spugsley What is wrong with people?

@spugsley Everyone knows that the only reason marriage is a thing is for procreation /s /butthisisactuallyathingpeoplethink
/andyesiknowyouareacutelyawareofthat

@fredley lol I'll try that one next time. It'll be entirely made up too. I'll make up so many gross words and it will be glorious

@RonanForman The midlands isn't even a place. It's a kind of no-man's land

8:41 PM
@Unionhawk I can't stop seeing "butt" at the beginning of that

@fredley A no man's land where we will stab you.

@spugsley Here's a good one: say you had an ectopic pregnancy. Don't read up on that if you're in the slightest bit squeamish.

@RonanForman I think you accidentally a word

@Unionhawk To be fair, I'm fairly certain it originally had something to do with procreation and making sure your kids were yours, but marriage has since evolved.

user15026
@fredley oh god

8:42 PM
@SaintWacko Thanks.

@fredley that is pretty horrific

@fredley my mom had one before me so I know allll about it. She talks about it a lot because apparently it's as close to feeling like you're dying as you can get

Better, stronger, faster?

@fredley I am going to take your advice, and banish you to the land of ten thousand nopes

@AshleyNunn Friend of ours had one, it's awful. She's fine now, and still could have kids, but yeah. It's unbelievable bad.

8:43 PM
@Unionhawk Me too

Marriage. Marriage has changed. Something something nanobots, something something marriage economy.

@fredley Why do I know you? What kind of horror is going to happen to me now? You and everyone you know gets extreme misfortune.

@spugsley Yeah. Worst thing was the person we know had been trying for ages. Husband travels a lot with work and can't give it up, for complicated reasons. She had a friend who got pregnant at the same time, too.

@Yuuki Lots of people probably don't believe in evolution there either

@Arperum Don't look it up.

8:45 PM
@murgatroid99 I feel like only 10 people in NC do and Ian and I are two of them.

@Yuuki Yeah, well, to be fair, this was a real argument made by people on topics (to which a real Supreme Court Justice responded "what if a 70 year-old couple wanted to get married?")

@fredley I've even refused to memorise the words you used.

@spugsley :(

@spugsley According to some random image I found online, as much as 65% of NC believe in evolution

@Arperum To survive the Bridge unscarred: just ignore everything @fredley says.
4

8:45 PM
@spugsley I completely understand why you wouldn't, but have you considered moving?

@murgatroid99 well I encourage them to come be my friend because I haven't found them yet

@Yuuki Even better! Ignore @fredley completely!

@murgatroid99 Well, at least more than half the population does?
I mean, I guess that's a bright side.

@fredley all day every day. But a) student loans b) my family is literally unable to take care of themselves and would die without me c) student loans because I'm allowed to mention it twice because we have 80000 dollars worth

@spugsley Ouch :(

8:47 PM
and the cost of living here is some of the lowest in the US so paying down debt makes sense here

Speaking of student loans, textbook prices have risen by 1000% since 1977.

Yey

so I will sit in my corner being all scowl-y and just come here to complain occasionally :D or a lot

Well the midwest states have very low cost of living too but downside: Kansas

@murgatroid99 "Believe in evolution" shouldn't be a phrase. It should be, "Accept the scientific truth" or "Don't believe God created animals as they are".
I don't "believe" in gamma rays
@spugsley Yeah I get that

8:48 PM
@MadMAxJr but I don't really want to move from one shit place to another shit place. Eventually we'll move to Seattle (if it's still there) or Maryland or maybe even gasp Canada!

I don't believe Bungie created all things in the Halo universe equal. >:|

@fredley that's not what "believe" means

@spugsley Canada sounds nice

It's not contradictory to say that you "believe" a true statement

I agree. Ian says we need to move to 'baby Canada' first (not entirely sure what the means) because he doesn't think I can handle Canadian cold

8:49 PM
Move to Canada. See the scenic North American tree and mountain reserve.

@spugsley That would be like, anywhere north of NC?

@Unionhawk bahaha. MD isn't that cold. We go there in the winter and it's alright

@murgatroid99 I know, it just frames it as a religious choice, rather than a logical one.

Do not move to Kelowna, BC if you enjoy video games. (You cannot trade-in video games there.)

@fredley Not really

8:50 PM
@fredley I don't believe you.

@MadMAxJr why?

This is a logical choice, because why would anyone believe @fredley

@Unionhawk I don't believe in you

WOW

Some people believe in true things, and others believe in other things. That doesn't make the word "believe" incorrect there

8:50 PM
@GodEmperorDune It falls under pawn-shop laws, Gamestop doesn't want anything to do with that.

how rude
:(

@MadMAxJr whaaat

@Unionhawk I don't believe in :(

pawn shop law?

Pawn shops have regulations anywhere?

8:51 PM
@spugsley YEEEEEP

Basically if you resell goods you have to provide ID and if it's over a certain amount, you have to provide other personally identifyable information
You get around this law by driving an hour north to the next city where you can trade crap at gamestop. :P

Oh, so they know who you are, not so they know that the goods aren't stolen

There's a way of getting games that isn't Steam?

Great, good job

Beyond that, Kelowna is a beautiful tourist trap city (DONT EVER GO 3 BLOCKS BEYOND THE MAIN ROAD, HOBO VILLAGES)

8:52 PM
@fredley Nope

@Unionhawk Driving for a couple of hours to trade Steam games seems like a lot of effort

@spugsley That's a ridiculous amount o_O. My only debt I have is for buying a house, and that was €110k when it started (last year).

I have no idea how Kelowna handles digital trades. I haven't been there since '07 on my cross country trip
TLDR; Let me trade my crappy US games for some local Canadian dollars cause my debit card doesn't work in your country Canada!

@Arperum Student debt in the US tends to be high because 1) high emphasis on education means a captive market and 2) student debt is not dischargeable in bankruptcy unlike many other debts.

@Arperum I have London house debt. Three hundred thousand Great British Pounds Sterling.

8:54 PM
I think those are the reasons.
I could be wrong.

@fredley I have to remind myself that a pound sterling doesn't /weigh/ a pound imperial.

@MadMAxJr It does when it's debt

Probably am, there's a reason why I'm not a finance or economics major.

@fredley As I said: all kinds of horrible things happen to you, such as living in London.

@Arperum yes. It is insane. Student loans are horrible and need regulation REAL bad. I only had 5k in dept. Ian had a looootttttt more

8:55 PM
@Arperum Living in London is the worst

What about visiting London. Is it okay for like.. a two week stay?

@Yuuki and interest rates. They aren't regulated. Or they weren't until very recently.
not sure if they passed actual legislation yet

@MadMAxJr Airbnb around me goes at £50 a night for a room in a shared place. Don't know about apartments.
And I live in a relatively "cheap" bit.

Oh, my stay would be covered. I have a friend with a nice flat there.

Please add an extra side-order of irony to those irony quotes. More than usual.
@MadMAxJr You're not staying in my nice flat. And you're not my friend.

8:57 PM
@fredley He's not your buddy, guy?

Well no, not you, a fellow who does active directory support for a contracted support company.
I forget where at exactly but he said something about northern london.

Q: DirectX 10/11 games crash in fullscreen mode

Guillaume JacqueminRecently (something like 1 month ago), all my DirectX 10/11 games started crashing whenever set to launch in fullscreen mode. My system specs: OS: Windows 8.1 x64 CPU: Intel Core i5-3230M @ 2.66 GHz (dual core with hyperthreading) RAM: 4 GB DDR3 @ 800 MHz GPU: Nvidia Optimus with Intel HD4000 ...

Q: What do the secret switches look like in Grimrock 2?

NathanI found this question very useful when playing Legend of Grimrock, because it shows the sort of detail to look out for without spoiling the actual locations. Are there images that show the different types in LoG2? Do they vary significantly between dungeons? I'm pretty early in the game right no...

The point of the whole trip is to go to that nice computer museum you have over there, where they've painstakingly tried to keep the manor and outer buildings intact, where the codebreakers worked during WW2.

@spugsley I had none. US is fucked up. Belgium actually gives you money if you can't afford stuff or your parents don't earn enough to not classify. Sure, they don't give enough to live from or anything, but every bit helps. I payed €80 for going to university for a year (plus ~€100 on all the books I needed) People not eligible for this government funding thing payed €500. Although these numbers have gone up like last year or so, don't know actual numbers now.

We just need to find an island off the coast of Latvia or something where we can live with not shitty people and mooch off free Internet (from Latvia).

8:59 PM
@Yuuki Maybe one of those deals like Sealand.

Bridgeland?
