that seems to be the case. And that null column looks like some old try thing that never got removed.
And foreign keys are overrated anyway.

Yeah foreign keys are always coming around here, stealing all the native keys' jobs

@GodEmperorDune We should build a wall between here and foreignland.
Perhaps a giant burning tire fire?

@Chippies I can't decide if I love or hate Pandas
That's pretty amazing, though.

@twobugs why not something between those two?

1:15 PM
Kreator is still awesome.

I think pandas are cool, but I don't really care much about them

I can only experience emotions in binary. Design oversight by my parents.

@twobugs File a bugreport and request a free software upgrade.

@Arperum I tried and they told me this version isn't supported anymore but assured me it was fixed in the next edition.

@twobugs You should have bought extended support guarantees.

1:21 PM
Damnit JSFiddle stop trying to auto-format my code

There's a chatbot implemented in Python that uses statement and responses as training data
I wonder what would happen if I feed it MLP's transcript...

@PrivatePansy Either you or @fredley are going to bring about the technological singularity
There are some lines Man isn't meant to cross.

So, I heard a rumor that we're now allowed to liveblog TF2 games here.

@PrivatePansy probably less dangerous than feeding it the bridge transcript

@GodEmperorDune whynotboth.jpg

1:28 PM
"If your copy of Microsoft Office went to school, it would be studying in secondary school now"
An actual conversation I had with my dad
Apparently he still routinely rejects papers submitted to him in docx format
@GodEmperorDune The Bridge's transcript is actually much cleaner, since replies are marked up nicely

@PrivatePansy except for mobile

Although I think once trained all it would do is post links to Friday

@StrixVaria ow
The scary thing is, the ragdoll physics is probably pretty accurate

> Note: Training is not required but it is recommended.
Huh. How do you talk to an untrained bot
Maybe it already has an linguistic model installed

1:34 PM
Maybe it just responds with nonsense
Which would be the effective result of training it with The Bridge, incidentally

So it talks like @Unionhawk. Got it.

Maybe it just looks up stuff on Wikipedia, then responds with nonsense.

*Considers making a chatbot flackoverstow fork*

@PrivatePansy I actually forced my mom to update to a version of Office produced during the current decade when I updated her computer to Windows 7.
I think it was Office 2010.

I updated to Windows 10 yesterday, it did not go smoothly
For a while I had a machine with no means of I/O. No wifi, no ethernet port, no disk drive, USB drivers not working
That was fun

1:42 PM
Sounds hilarious.

I just fed the chatbot a couple thousand lines of pony
Let's see if it starts vomiting up rainbows and unicorns

@fredley ew

@StrixVaria Yup. I haven't had a system in that state since about 1996

I just realized I also fed the bot all of the songs on the show
So the bot will also sing

Q: Guide is not spawning

user120251I have a 20-room house that is close to a 'spawn corruption'. Only 6/20 rooms were taken. NPCs are not spawning, like the guide, nurse, and tax collector. Is it because my house is too close to corruption or something else?

Luckily it was a transient bug with the particular laptop that I was working with, that could be fixed by.... turning it off and on again...

I've been impatiently waiting for my upgrade icon thingy to actually say I could upgrade, but maybe I'll hold off a bit on that now.

.... xD
@StrixVaria You can just make it go any time, there's a download page

@fredley *twitch*

@PrivatePansy Will it indicate singing too or just provide pony lyrics?

1:48 PM
@StrixVaria Google "Laptop name" Windows 10 upgrade

My desktop has the app/tray icon thing, but my laptop doesn't (and is up to date), so I don't know what the deal is with that either.

@Unionhawk Just lyrics.

Lame

You can usually tell if it's singing
I guess I can teach it songs exclusively
Who spells DB like that

> JScript Script File

1:53 PM
@PrivatePansy The best kind of correct people

Are there non-Script JScript files?

@StrixVaria They have one in the list, though they name it "JSON File".

@StrixVaria Brought to you by the Redundant Department of Redundancy

The Redundant Department of Redundancy Department

@MartinSojka Well, I also wasn't entirely clear on whether JScript and JavaScript were the same. I guess they are?

1:55 PM
@MartinSojka Hmmm. Well JSON files are arguably script files since you can run them as such, though they never actually do anything since they contain no actual instructions
@StrixVaria Technically speaking JScript is the Microsoft dialect. They use the name to avoid trademark

a subsidiary of The American Dodgeball Association of America

@PrivatePansy JScript Object Notation Javascript Script File

Using the same argument though an empty file is also a valid JScript file

@StrixVaria In almost all cases you see "JScript", it means "JavaScript". In some few cases "ECMAScript".
I blame Microsoft.

@MartinSojka That's usually a good bet

1:57 PM
Well I blame @fredley

And I blame @Wipqozn

Fair enough

Blame is transitive
@Frank blames @fredley and @fredley blames @Wipqozn => @Frank blames @Wipqozn

yup, basic logic.

brb, diagramming

2:02 PM
Please construct a Venn diagram of blame

Q: First video-game to have a coherent consistent world

ReacesI've recently been looking at the games that defined my childhood. And one of those was the game that brought me from RTS / Shooter games to RPG's, Albion by BlueByte. It's what caused me to turn to games such as Baldur's gate, Icewind Dale, and other similar titles. And it's probably what motiv...

Q: In Clash of Clans, is it possible to attack another member of your clan in a normal raid?

Radiant GodSomething that I've been curious about for a while. I know the algorithm puts you against players with similar trophy levels, but could you, in theory, attack another member of your clan?

@twobugs I'm making a graph of blame, which is I think what you want

That will suffice

As you can see, blame assigned to @Wipqozn is down 50% this quarter
the shareholders of The Bridge are very concerned with these figures and ask what will be done about it this quarter

Like this, perhaps? With @Wipqozn in the middle

2:06 PM
@PrivatePansy This is exactly what I'm creating
It might take a while
There's a lot of data

Oh, shareholders? Members and executives of the bridge, why is it so difficult for new users who visit the site to see that this is not a discussion forum?

@MadMAxJr Because we aren't desperate enough to plaster the site with "This is not a discussion forum" in 72pt Impact in <blink color="red">

As Chief Wrong Officer, I ask you: does it even matter when the posts are deleted by review anyway?

(You have no idea how hard it was to type that)

@PrivatePansy Bonus point for use of the blink tag.

2:09 PM
@PrivatePansy This tree is very visually appealing.

Hmm, how long until that data visualization gets run through deep dream?

@MadMAxJr If you have to ask, @fredley's probably already done it

@Unionhawk As a member of the 'Bad ideas that nobody should listen to' department, I say we pre-emptively ban users before they can post as this will prevent the small fraction who are posting conversation and not answers.

@PrivatePansy the good old WitM attack

What is that data anyway?

2:12 PM
@MadMAxJr I took it from blogs.nature.com/ofschemesandmemes/2012/03/16/…. Apparently it's just used as an illustration of an undirected acyclic graph viewed as a tree
I'm sure I'll learn what that means next semester. Until then I'll remain in blissful ignorance

Number of blames to process: 1240
This will take a while, quite a lot of manual santizing to do

Many of them are going to be @Unionhawk blaming @FEi I'm sure

Dealing with 3lps is an issue

Hahahahahaha

:| So this widget someone else wrote doesn't do what I wanted to do. I decided to write my own. I got about 75% of the way there easily, but the last part I see why the widget was so dumb: you have to do all this resizing junk with dojo

2:15 PM
Yeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeey

wat
If I do it programmatically it doesn't work, but by hand in the JS console it's fine

@fredley Huh, why use a spreadsheet?
I mean, I'm sure a little regex won't hurt...

@PrivatePansy Spreadsheets are very powerful tools for data processing. I did get this far with plaintext (ST3) though
Generated a csv
Use Excel to further santize it and produce the actual graph

2:20 PM
Should've dropped the articles
Too many 'the's in there

@PrivatePansy Yeah, that's the kind of thing I can do in the text, then reimport

Quickly, everyone start blaming things so that @fredley will have to add data

... | sed -e 's/\s+/_/' -e 's/^i_blame_/I blame /i' | ...

@MartinSojka Hex! Burn the witch!

sed? TURN UNDEAD

2:25 PM
Well. This is turning into a great long weekend.
AC in the server room crapped out again.
Guess who's on call?

So I'm an undead witch now ...

@Frank RX-79? GP-03?

@MadMAxJr Sadly, no.

@MartinSojka Who is that suppose to be?

@PrivatePansy Just an undead pony, according to the creator (warning, DeviantArt link, potentially NSFW).

2:32 PM
This data is filthy

aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa
I am not a fan of this

@MartinSojka no, sed is undead.
You're a witch for summoning the undead

I was quite surprised I could find a matching MLP image so quickly, to be frank.

@MartinSojka If you can think of it, the Internet will probably have a pony of it

@PrivatePansy and a Sonic

@Unionhawk Ponies? The Undead? sed? The US? Sysadmins?

@Rapitor Damn. RIP.

@PrivatePansy Maybe he just doesn't like filthy data or DeviantArt?

@PrivatePansy red bubbles, obviously
(this code isn't cooperating with me)
(it's cooperating now after much coercion)
yey it built

Q: How are nicknames determined?

TexenoxThroughout your careers in either Poker Night at The Inventory or Poker Night 2, your 'nickname' (something like Ziggy Flophouser or whatever) will consistently change depending on your stats throughout. I've been wondering, however, what the different stats are that determine all the nicknames. ...

yey it worked

I think making this graph is going to take the rest of the day

@fre pls

Surprise front runner for blame: lack of sleep

Is there a top user who needs to sleep more?

2:49 PM
@Unionhawk I'll get to that

3:18 PM
The bot is still processing pony
Maybe I need to leave it overnight

It would probably take like 3 years to do Bridge then

what are you breaking

Q: How do I keep my gold?

sommerjjAfter clearing the first league, I'm finding it difficult to accumulate enough gold to upgrade my hideout. Upgrades are costing 25-30k gold and it takes many hours to passively generate that gold. I find that any gold I do store gets stolen quickly, resulting in me getting nowhere. What are so...

Hmmm, the bot trains itself using simple pattern matching to find the closest response in history
I'm not sure if the transcript is the best training data

As in training on Bridge is a bad idea or training on Pony is a bad idea?

3:33 PM
@PrivatePansy As you said, it'd result in constant linking of friday

Q: i can't do any science at all but flying ships

reaper0203i have gone into space and went EVA and right clicked on my kerbal nothing appeared (i am in science mode) i can't use the mystery goo container or science jr. i am on a mac and using 1.0.4

Okay. Looks like all the fun server stuff is fixed.

YiJiang is Private Pansy right?

yes

3:50 PM
@Frank "People were having fun on our server. We fixed the glitch."

@badp More like, "Oh shit! Server room is overheating! Servers must shut down!"

@Rapitor wat

4:05 PM
Chatbot is a failure. To do the string matching it requires the installation of a C module, otherwise the pure Python implementation would take too long
On Windows compiling the module requires VS, and I can't get the SDK (which is just the compiler) to install properly

RIP

Q: How to make an apk for my coc private server

ThePROgrammerI would like to know if anyone has figured out how to make an apk for my personal coc server. If not, then I will have to go through extracting, decompiling, then reverse engineering the file. My goal is to provide my users with a simple one click style solution. Thanks, thePROgrammer.

@PrivatePansy cygwin could work

@PrivatePansy wait wat

Python is kinda slow

yeah but... regular expressions?
oh.

No, it uses distance matching, not pattern matching
I'm not too familiar with the algorithm
So I don't know what sort of complexity we're talking about here compared to regex

Eeeh you can't compare the two
Regex is a language in and of itself =p

distance is how many character changes (add/remove/edit) it takes to go from one string to the other

yeah this looks like a slow problem regardless
what was the goal?

4:11 PM
I found a chatbot implemented in Python, so I thought I'd use the MLP transcript as training data

for what?

By default the bot uses simple edit distance to figure out the best response. It collects the responses and adds that to the training data

uhh

what

basically when it wants to reply to a message it'd find the nearest matching line in the MLP transcript and reply with the follow-up?

4:13 PM
Wait, no. Let me reread this again...
I think so

that's... a lot of possible matches

Hmm. That's not very interesting, to be honest.

That sounds like a recipe for madness
@PrivatePansy What would be more interesting, a bot that just replies with random MLP snippets?

A better chatbot would respond to messages with a random emoji

4:14 PM
@GodEmperorDune .... xD

No, a recipe for madness would be to mix in the Bridge's transcript, and make a game out of guessing which is which

(only emoji required)

Hamstare is only emoji required

I feel like that should be easy
Should be
To, figure out, anyway

@KevinvanderVelden I think you can estimate the big O complexity classes of relatively simple regexes

4:17 PM
Aww. I just read that depressing article on the death of Hitchbot. :(

@PrivatePansy oh yeah, given a regex you can say the big O, but you can't compare regex and distance matching

Yeah, it's O(whywhywhywhy)

Actually, without backtracking, shouldn't most of them be close to O(n)?

I'm pretty sure edit distance is O(n^2), where n is the length of the longer string

4:19 PM
Yeah, that's what I thought. They'd be quite similar to finite state machines

They are in fact finite state machines

@KevinvanderVelden well, they're functionally equivalent to DFAs
But they're not necessarily implemented as such

And modern regexes aren't actually "Regular Expressions" in the theoretical sense

Ah, yeah. And some dialects have variations that cannot be fulfilled by a finite state machine

4:22 PM
I think even backreferences (like (.*)\1) can't be implemented by DFAs

Regexes these days can't even parse html

Lazy, just plain lazy I tell you

So my code is about ready to begin pretesting. I'm scared.

I give up
user image

This is about 30% of the data

I like @Arperum's tiny offshoot

4:35 PM
dEAR GOD

@Arperum Sleep more

What the balls is even happening here

Proof that Wipqozn is the sum of all things here.
And Kalina apparently has a macross cannon for drawing association lines.

Heh

@fredley kfVsfOSbJY0 isn't high enough

user15026
4:38 PM
No, @wipqozn isn't the sum of all things, he is just apparently scientifically the worst.
2

I like how azerty keyboards is somehow relevant with only one reference point.

@GodEmperorDune Ironically, given the meme, many dialects probably can
It's just ugly and error-prone

Pretend this diagram isn't association, but military movements.

@Sterno I don't blame kfVsfOSbJY0. I blame you

@MadMAxJr So the English/British want to invade me?
(prepares the anti-@fredley defenses)

4:39 PM
@Yuuki Possibly with lasers.

@Unionhawk Transcripts prove its not my fault. I never knew about Friday until I was trolled in here with it by another user.

@MadMAxJr The great Wipqozn fortress is apparently impenetrable, as many large military movements have been made against it

Attack on Wipqozn

@Sterno I still blame you.

I blame urmom

4:41 PM
@Unionhawk Or it is easily captured but still strategically significant

@fredley What did you use to generate that?
A chord diagram by the way might have worked better

May 12 '12 at 5:08, by Fluttershy

We as a whole are at war with: Wipqozn, Canada, lack of sleep, everyone, the internet, The British, windows, ponies, and more.
5

THAT WAS THE FIRST REFERENCE TO kfVsfOSbJY0 IN CHAT
And so 3 years of misery began

@MadMAxJr But not Eurasia

4:43 PM
@fredley That is only 30%? I'm actually eager to see a more in-depth visualization.
Though that could result in an even larger, more powerful Wipqozn

@MadMAxJr And @Arperum is at war with azerty keyboards

Origami Robot made a flanking maneuver from the east and was not heard from since. :(

I didn't even know AZERTY keyboards existed

Also Mobile Chat. Can't ever forget about Mobile chat

Totally can forget about it

4:44 PM
@Sterno Huh. So it's actually @Fluttershy's fault.

I'm mildly concerned that Wipqozn's immediate defenses are ponies, the British, and the Internet.

@Yuuki Pretty much

@Yuuki Nope. It's @Sterno's fault.

But @Wipqozn probably drove him to it

@Sterno And he was under direct orders. From YOU.

4:46 PM
Badp has apparently had influence on every major military movement, but not in signifigant force... Even opposing sides.

Apparently the only person to blame me for anything I'd @badp, at least in the early days (assuming data is parsed chronologically)

@twobugs If @Wipqozn followed my orders, the world would be a better place.

I feel so left out :(

@PrivatePansy Well that's just your own damn fault.

What have I ever done to you :(

4:48 PM
This is a visualization of the Sengoku (Warring States) period of Arqade.

Except ponies. Which I guess there were a lot of

@PrivatePansy NOTHING! That's the point.

Interesting that while focused on a few major targets, Kalina still had time to deploy troops against Everyone.

Book blurb:

@MadMAxJr Romance of the One Hundred and Thirty Eight Kingdoms

4:49 PM
> DON'T LOOK DOWN

Because you're trapped. With a beautiful, terrified woman. On the 40th floor of a deserted office building. By the psyshopath they call "The Butcher."
Worst writing ever.

What

Is that typo actually in he blurb?

I'm not sure what the war on Lack of Sleep is about. Or how you wage that war.

@Sterno The plot of Diablo 4

The plot. Of Diablo 4.

4:50 PM
@MadMAxJr It's like the war on Christmas

Diablo 4 actually takes place in a modernized office skyscraper.

@PrivatePansy I cut and pasted, so probably.

@MadMAxJr It's a gritty modern day reboot.

Your first quest is to get down to The Butcher in HR and turn in your I-9 and hire forms.

Except this one is waged using coffee and tea

4:51 PM
@PrivatePansy That's not a typo. Psyshopathy is a real condition, stop your discrimination.

After the success of the Warcraft movie they went all in.

I just beat up the water cooler and it dropped a Fanged Eagle Stapler of the Snake, not bad for a blue.

@Yuuki Damn you, you made me look

:D .... xD

@Sterno In that case, yes. I have read fanfic descriptions that are more compelling (and surprisingly few that are not)

4:53 PM
Angels and Demons are just employees at different corporations. Really makes you, like, think... man.

@twobugs ... There was a cheap RPG on DriveThruRPG a few weeks back that was exactly this idea.
It's a corporatized version of the Knights of the Round legend.

I like that almost any intentionally bad idea I can come up with someone has already made into a hopefully amusing game.

The players manual is an employee handbook.

@twobugs Righteous!

@MadMAxJr That's clever.
I wonder, did anyone make a Dilbert tabletop rpg? If not, why? If so, why haven't I heard of it?

@badp So... More ponies?

@badp requires additional horse words

@PrivatePansy I can't blame ponies on you.

But you could

Ponies are larger than any one of you.
