10:00 PM
@ardaozkal I actually laughed out loud at work

I can't afford the risk of torrenting anymore.

@murgatroid99 now that curious coworkers are crawling near you.
Well, if I was in USA, I wouldn't torrent anything.

@ardaozkal I've never had a coworker crawling around

@ardaozkal I'm aware.

@ardaozkal eh, nobody here really cares. I'm just amused by the fact that you think you're safe enough to use a computer without antivirus or updates, but you run random software you download using bittorrent

10:02 PM
I wish they'd get more keystrokes out of my searches so they'd figure out that it is not okay not to give me inexact matches for programs
also Italy is supposed to be one of the markets where Cortana is avaiable, but she isn't, so that's a lot less keystrokes they're getting off me.
Nevermind that if she was available, she'd probably only speak Italian, and bollocks to that.

@murgatroid99 Random software? I usually download movies (we don't have hulu, netflix, crunchyroll here), or stuff that can't be obtained, like Black Mesa mod when the download was removed a while ago. I got the steam edition the day it released tho.

@ardaozkal Whatever; what you do with your computer isn't my problem. But I hope you recognize the inconsistency in saying that you don't need antivirus, but that you got a trojan running software you downloaded with bittorrent.

@murgatroid99 well, Windows Defender is so great that it did say that it removed a trojan and nothing else, no file name or anything. If I knew the file name, I'd be sure that it was my fault or not.

@murgatroid99 Yeah, that's the equivalent of begging something to infect your system.

@Frank I'd install antivirus, I'd buy one but they are laggy and good or lightweight and bad. A semi lightweight and a goodish antivirus would fit me, but I can't seem to find one

10:13 PM
@ardaozkal Norton Corporate edition.
Most of Norton's stuff is junk, because it comes with so much cruft.
That one is nothing but a virus scanner.

What about Norton 360 or Internet Security? Would they lag my pc?
By lagging I mean -10 fps.
From 60 fps

Q: Testfor block with custom name

Veritas025Ok so what I'm doing is making "magic blocks" Whereas if you are standing on a specific block it gives you a potion effect like speed, instant health, strength, etc. The only problem is while trying to make it survival friendly I want the player to have to rename a diamond block to the certain na...

Q: Dishonored Mission Won't Load

l1zZYSo I've had this problem for a while now, but it's slightly better. I got Dishonored when it was free for Xbox live gold members, and a couple of months ago it would show the mission loading screen, then show an error saying disk read error (which was weird because I had it installed, not on a di...

Q: Minecraft pocket on Hudl

Tina HarrisMy son has been playing Minecraft pocket version on his Hudl for a few weeks now, but he is saying that for some reason the arrows are now doing the opposite to what they should. When he presses the down arrow it goes up, left arrow goes right and so on. Don't know if he's changed something but i...

@ardaozkal Ew
Those are the ones with all the cruft.

@ardaozkal Windows Defender shows you the filename if you click on more details
it doesn't have to bore an average user with the details, since majority of people don't read/understand them anyway, that's what advanced details are for

It's June already! Anything fun planned? http://t.co/MrczEpgzlS
That's adorable Google Calendar

10:20 PM
@Chippies it removed the virus and I can't even see it in the history anymore.

@ardaozkal because you probably chose remove, instead of quarantine

@Chippies I don't really like keeping viruses on my pc, even if they are in a sandbox.

although history should probably show it if you check "All detected items"
I got windows defender with realtime protection turned off and I don't catch any viruses or trojans or any other crap
my torrenting habits are much more timid nowadays, but I used to torrent A LOT and as long as you know what you're doing there's no reason to catch any crap
if you're unsure about a file, do a manual scan on it
if defender didn't catch a trojan at first, but found it in a scan, it just means it didn't scan the file in the first place

@Chippies Real time is on
Probably the virus was added in a new update to virus catalog

@ardaozkal not everything is scanned all the time, otherwise your HDD would be unusable most of the time

10:25 PM
Yeah, I know

if there's a file you think may be infected, do a manual scan

However, is there any lightweight with RTS and maybe online scan AV software out there?
Is Avast Int Sec good? edit: NO, I will not pay 40$ to Avast annually. Any cheaper AV out there?

@ardaozkal Use the free version?

@Arperum I want a good thing if I am going to install an AV. However I'm thinking of Bitdefender Internet Security 2015.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
Oh god

10:33 PM
Pc Advisor voted it #2.

Rolling a 20 on charm on a boss is too good

^not a native, what did you mean

10:48 PM
The hot questions list surfaces the weirdest questions sometimes

Q: Can I wear a bulletproof vest while traveling on British Airways from Heathrow?

user1298069I'll be wearing it all the time anyway once I arrive at my hostile destination but how about wearing it during the flight? It makes sense to wear it in case someone try to hijack the plane.

@murgatroid99 wait. that's not a normal question to have?

@Rapitor I don't know. I've flown quite a bit, and I've never considered it before. On the other hand, I think I've only flown out of Heathrow once, so that could be it

11:09 PM
I fly a lot, but I consider risk of crashing more than being hijacked. I live in Turkey and we are just next to ISIS, but still, plane crashing is more way more probable than it being hijacked. And why my flight and not others? Hijacking is a one in a billion cituation (< no source).

@ardaozkal And as people in that thread point out, even if you are hijacked, a bulletproof vest isn't going to help

Q: How does you Pokemon get out of its Poke Ball and fallow you?

MikhaelIn other Pokemon games your Pokemon might walk behind you. How do you make your Pokemon get out of its Poke-Ball and make it fallow you, besides, Pokemon do need exercise.

@ardaozkal at least with a hijacking you can are in more control of your fate by deciding to go out fighting and attacking the hijackers. with a crash by the time you know it's happening it's too late because the pilots would keep saying "we're fine, it's just turbulence" (so long as they aren't the ones doing the crashing)

@murgatroid99 Mostly that's us

If you go out fighting and attacking the hijackers, you have better survival chances in the plane crash scenario

11:14 PM
The thing is, I'd contact terrorists if my plane was hijacked and if they are muslims. In the Quran, it is stated that muslim people are banned from killing muslim people. I'd just state that and ask for their comment. Pros of living in a muslim country.

I got contacted by a recruiter for a one month contract.

@ardaozkal People who hijack planes are not rational people, rational arguments are unlikely to work

@ardaozkal tell that to ISIS

With a request for a "team".

AFAIK 99% of their victims are muslim.
or 95% or 90%
but still

11:16 PM
I've read stuff that says a lot of people who are willing to do the suicide stuff are the less religious members

@ardaozkal We'd live in a very different world if everyone did everything their holy books say

Who get drawn in by the promises of belonging to a group, etc.
I'm vastly oversimplifying it, but it's more complex than most people think

I mean, naturally they'll rationalize it by saying that others weren't muslim enough or some such bullshit
but in the end it's still bullshit

@murgatroid99 unfortunately you are right.

@badp i was actually going to post that. of cause it can probably be said that any Muslim extremist sect are hypocrites to begin with given they would break they very religious laws they kill in the name of

11:19 PM
@badp well, also as stated in the Quran, having sexual intercourse before wedding is a "head-cut". They'd say this to me.

@ardaozkal I thought they'd just skip to the "head-cut" bit

@badp ... you are right.

AFAIK, there's very very little religious about terrorism and muslims are as much victims as we are, and lately, they're way more so. The sooner we realize the better

@murgatroid99 If someone hijacks the plane, getting shot is really not that high on the list of problems.

@badp Yeah, basically. I view it similarly to if any number of other religious extremists actually gained a following and/or were located near enough to oil to have $$$$

11:23 PM
@originaluser Swap out oil with blood diamonds and you have Pat Robertson.

@Yuuki Yep. He's slightly better about not murdering everyone, but you can tell he wants to.

BUT WHAT ABOUT THE SCIENTIFIC THEORY OF CREATIONISM

@Yuuki And if someone has both control of an airplane and a gun, something that protects only your torso isn't going to help very much

@originaluser I dunno, I think diverting Rwandan Genocide aid money counts as "murdering".

@Yuuki Fair point, I guess he's just better about not murdering Americans

11:25 PM
(He allegedly diverted said money to build a diamond mine in Liberia)

If somebody has both control of an airplane and a gun clearly the correct course of action is firing up Periscope
maybe a selfie with the terrorists?
just think of the social media presence you'll gain

@Yuuki Arguably, there's a difference between killing people and purposely not helping them survive. Not a big difference, though

@badp It could be like a slightly more terrifying version of that person who tweeted seconds before the stage collapsed and killed them

You could even have the time for an AMA on Reddit.
On the other hand I wouldn't want to be the one footing your airplane internet bill afterwards
or a relative thereof

Doing a no fast travel playthrough with Frostfall is interesting (modded Skyrim).
Currently in High Hrothgar and need to head down off the mountain. Unfortunately, my torch burned out and I have no linen wraps.

11:30 PM
Well it is downhill from there, right?

I don't have Become Ethereal so while jumping is an option, it is neither a smart nor survivable option.

just reverse climb

The problem is the cold.

11:54 PM
@Yuuki It's better than it could be

user15026
New Chibi-Robo game? Huh. I am kinda getting excited about the latest Nintendo Direct, although I will have to remind myself that the Pokemon Mystery Dungeon game will hve TOO MUCH TALKING in them

user15026
and thus I will hate it

@AshleyNunn lately all pokemon games have too much talking
