Needless to say, things are networked over by their offsets from the object's base address. Which works simply because both the client and server have the same version of the object.

The fun comes in with Valve's vector objects, in which case just the pointer is being stored at the offset in question.

Well if you're absolutely sure that the pointer will only be dereferenced to a valid object of that type, you should be fine, but ensuring the first part is hard.
