"This" being SourceMod 1.7

We have started responding to requests where there is a clear outcome:
- Those who have pre-ordered an Elite: Dangerous release version from our online store and have therefore not yet played the game are eligible for a refund.
- Those who have already been playing the game online in the Alpha and/or Beta phases, regardless of whether they backed the project via Kickstarter or purchased access to Alpha and/or Beta through our online store, are not eligible for a refund.

We want to make sure we treat each person's situation with the thoroughness it deserves, and have contacted each of
There, that is the whole section on refunds. As you can see, it is literally the previous two quotes back to back.

Did the Alpha/Beta versions have offline?

@Batophobia no

@OrigamiRobot Yes. And what they're saying is that taking advantage of the backer rewards means they're not eligible for a refund, regardless of the promises they made. That's what I take issue with.

24 mins ago, by Origami Robot
I'm not sure we all have the same idea of what "promise" means...

4:12 PM
If they had announced offline was nixed before the alpha or beta, and the backer still took advantage of it, then I'd have no issue.

@Frank it's one "promise" out of many and if ditching this one "promise" means they can get the others done, then there's no reason they shouldn't do it

This is them basically going, "Hey, here's some of the game we promised you, check it out!"
Backers actually doing so, they nix offline, and then saying, "Nope, you tried the game, no refund for you!"

implementing an offline mode would be ditching a lot of the game

24 mins ago, by Frank
What I take exception to is them refusing refunds to the backers who backed on the promise of offline, "Because they played the alpha/beta"

25 mins ago, by Unionhawk
Think about it this way: if you paid to play the alpha or beta, they don't want people to now go "I DON'T LIKE IT, I WANT MY MONEY BACK NOW PLEASE" and then buy the game at retail price.

4:15 PM
@Chippies Where did the backers agree to that?
If they didn't, well boohoo to the devs.
Same for their website.

This is the game that charged a huge sum to play the alpha?

If purchasers didn't agree to a zero refund policy, then they don't have a single leg to stand on.
It's their problem to eat the cost.

> Pledge £100 or more

Participate in the first round private beta test, plus all rewards above.

Wait, so the backers have to agree that they shouldn't be allowed to game the system before the devs decide that they aren't allowed to game the system?

lowest tier of beta access

4:16 PM
This is news to me

@Unionhawk No, in a dispute between the developers and the backers, the onus should be on the developers to prove the agreement made.

> Pledge £200 or more

lowest alpha tier

@Chippies And where in there does it say, "You play the game, you're not entitled to a refund"?

@Chippies lowest first round beta tier*

@Frank I have no idea what you're saying.

4:17 PM
@Frank if you have to have that spelt out then I don't know what to tell you

They can't blindly offer refunds to alpha/beta players, because literally everyone would request a refund.

@Chippies How does that mean they're not entitled to a refund? How!?
There's nothing there that even implies that!

17 secs ago, by Jason Berkan
They can't blindly offer refunds to alpha/beta players, because literally everyone would request a refund.

@Frank 1) they are backing the development of the game and as a bonus they get access to the alpha/beta

@Unionhawk I'm not saying do it blindly.

4:18 PM
2) if they refund that, they can just buy the retail game at normal price after
which means playing alpha/beta for the price of a retail game

I'm saying, don't treat your backers like grifters who only backed because they wanted to play the game early.

Well then you're saying do it on an individual basis which is exactly what they're doing, so I have no idea what you're saying.

@Unionhawk We're interpreting Braben's statements differently.

28 mins ago, by Origami Robot
> Refund requests are evaluated on an individual basis against the applicable terms and conditions of sale

You think they're going to go through the cases one by one, and offer refunds where they think they can.
I think he's tacking that on to the basic premise of, "You play the game = no refund for you"
It's a binary equation; there's nothing that doesn't fall into one of the two circumstances.
Either you've played it, or you haven't.

4:20 PM
If your argument amounts to "I don't think they are going to do that" then this is going nowhere

I don't think kickstarter should have refunds at all, besides projects that don't get finished or fully funded
you're investing the money in the developers so they can do their thing
if their thing somehow changes slightly over time and you don't like it, well, next time think better about where to invest your money

@Chippies This stance means anybody and their dog can promise the world, get backed, keep the money, and tell their backers to screw off.

@Frank they can and many have done so
it's the backers responsibility to do their research before trusting random strangers on the internet though

@Chippies And, again, you're blaming backers for not having 20/20 hindsight to know how it would turn out.

@Frank Yes, they can. Don't give your money to someone unless you are prepared to accept that as a possibility.

user15026
4:23 PM
@frank that's the risk you take backing incomplete things, though. You are making investments in the possibility of a thing.

@Frank in this particular case, they are delivering on like, 90% of the promises

@Frank Nobody is saying they knew how it would turn out. We're saying they should have known the risks

@OrigamiRobot Which, going forward for Kickstarter, is good; there's a history of incomplete projects and actions they are capable of taking for recourse.

when you invest in stock market you don't ask for a refund when you lose your life savings

When was this backed? A year ago? Two?

4:24 PM
...we're still talking about this?

Almost two years ago.
How long had Kickstarter been around by that time?

user15026
I am not sure that matters, really

@Powerlord I'm done with it. Tempest in a teacup. What would you like to talk about?

@Frank Kickstarter launched in 2009

4:25 PM
Oh yeah, I only got a few suggestions for Vita games yesterday.

user15026
@JasonBerkan that reminds me I should make tea

@Chippies Okay, yes, then that was enough time to build up a history of failed projects.
Then, yeah, the buyer beware adage holds true.

...

user15026
@frank even if it didn't, you aren't really buying things, you are more investing in ideas that happen to also get you kickbacks.

also, wow, I still recall Elite Dangerous kickstarter being a thing and that was almost 2 years ago... Time flies by so fast :x

4:27 PM
I think I'm leaning towards @Frank's side here. I mean, if they promised online but then abandoned it that's the same thing

@AshleyNunn Yeah, but even when it's shiny and new, it's still feeling its way around what is and isn't possible.

user15026
From day one it shouldn't have been seen as a way to buy things, it is an investment /idea support platform.

That's why the reward for backing it is a copy of the game really

We can draw on a lot of history now that says, "Yep. You got burned. Learn for next time."

@Batophobia The money came with no real legal strings attached just promises of product at the end of the project.

4:28 PM
So, since I need to go across town for a quick checkup with a doctor, what should I get for lunch while I'm out?

user15026
Ideas change. Kickstarter pitches are well, just that. Pie in the sky pitches of "we want to do this, here are all our ideas ever, help"

But I kinda doubt the first backers walked into a project knowing that doing so was a risk, and that they had no recourse.

@Batophobia it was mentioned halfway through the kickstarter

user15026
@powerlord what are your options?

@RedRiderX So I can make a Kickstarter for some amazing product, decide I can only give a picture of me drinking coffee, and that's ok because you got something

@Batophobia that will probably get you on everyone's shitlist for everything you do next

@Batophobia Yes.

17 mins ago, by Origami Robot
24 mins ago, by Origami Robot
I'm not sure we all have the same idea of what "promise" means...

@Batophobia that's exactly why people shouldn't back anything without a working prototype at least

@AshleyNunn Well, I live in an area of 100,000 people, so anything really... however, it's probably going to be fast food of some sort as I won't have a lot of time left on my lunch by that point.

4:30 PM
@Chippies which a working prototype can still be removed

@JasonBerkan part of the Burger King purchase probably.

@Batophobia of course, but if you have already invested so much time/money in a prototype, you are more likely to go through with it

Within 2 blocks of the doctors office are Subway, Little Caesars, McDonalds, and Taco Bell.

if you don't, well - good luck getting support in the future

4:31 PM
@Chippies Yeah, and they won't back you again, but that's the thing: people walk into Kickstarter with an expectation. That expectation isn't handled very well by Kickstarter, and the reality isn't communicated very well at all, either.

user15026
@JasonBerkan I feel sorry for all the workers who will have to listen to people complain all day every day for the next while. (I worked there during one price increase, people take it out in the servers)

@Chippies Who cares, you make a million on a great promise and spend nothing on what they actually get

@Rapitor Yeah, I just remembered potato salad
Jesus Christ $55,000

@AshleyNunn uugh, those people are the worst =[

user15026
4:32 PM
@KevinvanderVelden yes they are.

> Backing a project is more than just pledging funds to a creator. It's pledging your support to a creative idea that you want to see exist in the world.

Do they even have to fulfill the reward tiers?

user15026
Someday I want a job where I interact with people without getting blamed for everything.

@AshleyNunn dishwashers in restuarants are usually completely forgotten about

@AshleyNunn Not sure that exists.

4:34 PM
> Backers should look for creators who share a clear plan for how their project will be completed and who have a history of doing so.
If a creator has no demonstrable experience in doing something like their project or doesn't share key information, backers should take that into consideration.

@Chippies Their Learn More does nothing to set expectations or how to handle failed projects.

@Batophobia yes, legally, to some degree at least given that their is an implied chance of failure

You can't really just go, "Nope, it's an investment in an idea, it failed, learn from it."

> When you back a project, you’re helping to create something new — not ordering something that already exists. There’s a chance something could happen that prevents the creator from being able to finish the project as promised.
all of this is in the FAQ

@AshleyNunn Customer Service always gets blamed for everything.

4:35 PM
@Chippies But to end up with something completely different than what you started off with is not the same thing as minor differences

user15026
@powerlord I know, that would be the exact point I am making

> The creator is solely responsible for fulfilling the promises made in their project. If they’re unable to satisfy the terms of this agreement, they may be subject to legal action by backers.
if you feel so angry about it, go sue them

@Chippies Yeah, that'll go over well.

user15026
@JasonBerkan I would settle for something where I just got blamed sometimes for some things, not all the time for all things.

I'm tempted to to stop at Taco Bell for lunch. Must be the crack they put in their Quesaritos.

4:37 PM
But that's sort of the point I'm making; that information should be front and center.
Not buried halfway down a page in a link in the footer.

@Powerlord i didn't quite like the quesarito as much as I thought i would...
probably because I am used to Chipotle's...

@Rapitor I'm addicted to the things.

@Frank if you are spending 100$+ without even reading how the damn thing works, it's really no one's fault but yours

Q: What is this wrench icon I have in the bottom right corner?

3venticI have this icon stuck on my screen in the bottom right corner. What does it mean?

Whereas their Learn More page is a massive, "Look how awesome Kickstarter is! We're super duper awesome!"

4:38 PM
@Lazers It means you're an Engineer, Harry!

All I'm learning from this is that you should never use Kickstarter, ever
3

See, I shouldn't have started thinking about food, because now I'm hungry.

@AshleyNunn That does exist. My job fits that description.

@Powerlord i've been hungry for sushi for quite a while.

@Chippies Do you honestly believe that it's the backers fault for investing in a failed project?

4:40 PM
yet all i got is pb&j

@Frank Partially, yes. Also depends on what you mean by failed project.
but mostly yes

@Frank wait? Are we still talking about the elite thing?

it is the reason I don't do kickstarter

@KevinvanderVelden No, we've moved onto Kickstarter in general.

@Batophobia I use Kic... wait, no, I refuse to be drawn into this conversation. (hint, hint)

4:40 PM
@KevinvanderVelden I think it split into worst case for both sides

Because there have been several failed kickstarters where the creators were sued, and the creators lost

@Chippies I mean failed project. Where nothing is going to be delivered.
I see Kickstarter as an investment; I'm investing my money in your idea.

Popcorn! Peanuts! Enjoy the bridge drama with a snack!

@Frank Well, it's obviously the creator's fault, but you shouldn't be investing without hindsight?
Idk, aren't there books on stock markets and shit?
that's how I see kickstarter

@badp So, I finished my TF2 server plugin that makes tf_arena_use_queue 0 use the same scoring style as normal arena does. Took me a while to get rid of most of the kinks, but other than a few minor things I can't figure out how to do, it's finished.

4:42 PM
If the kickstarter is funded, but not delivered upon. the blame leans toward to creator, but backer will always be at some fault for placing the risk in the first place

you're investing with the hope that you will get something great out of it

@Frank investments sometimes fail

@Chippies You are responsible for your own due diligence, yes. That's everyone's personal responsibility.

The "things I can't figure out how to do" bits being the ones that do translations using Valve translation phrases since SourceMod has no capability of doing that.

If I buy stock, it's with the knowledge that there's a possibility that the company will announce bankruptcy at the next earnings call

4:43 PM
(I cheat and use the TextMsg usermessage instead, even though it doesn't support color translation phrases)

@Chippies I don't think you can compare Kickstarter to Stocks. You don't end up owning part of the company

@Batophobia in some cases you do

@Rapitor Actually you literally can't.

a lot of the backer rewards have you eventually playing amajor role in production

@Batophobia it's still an investment that carries some risk, and that's the important similarity

4:43 PM
It's in the terms; you can't offer company equity in the project.
@murgatroid99 Those investments also have legal protections inherent in them.

@murgatroid99 So is leaving your money in a bank

If the company all of a sudden decides it's going to close up shop, you can legally sue them to force them to stay open, or refund your investment.

@Batophobia yes, but that's known to be a very very small risk

They can't just waltz away with your investment.

@murgatroid99 And if something did happen, it would not be brushed off with a "Well you knew there was a risk, just like the Stock market"

4:45 PM
@Frank then people investing in Kickstarter should also recognize that those legal protections aren't available
@Batophobia Also, that's what the FDIC is for

@murgatroid99 And that knowledge should be put front and center for new users.

@Batophobia haven't there been cases of banks going bankrupt and people losing money?

@Frank yeah, probably

@Chippies Probably

If Kickstarter did that, then, yep, all the onus is on the backer to do their due diligence.
And not part with money they're not comfortable with losing.

4:46 PM
The FDIC insures your deposits into banks, up to $250,000 or so
@Frank But people should also realize that logically, any project can fail after spending its money

@Chippies Yes, that's why the FDIC is a thing

@Frank front and center or not, that information is freely available for everyone

@murgatroid99 Yep. And at that point, if the backer feels it wasn't a good faith effort, they have the option to sue.
Or even if it was, the backer has the option to sue.

user15026
@JasonBerkan I am working on getting the skills to get jobs that aren't first level customer service, or the very least are such in environments where it is evident that I am not the one to blame.

@Frank then it seems like everything is covered

4:48 PM
ignorance doesn't remove responsibility, or something like that

@murgatroid99 Let's hope so.

@AshleyNunn But you answered the phone, it must be your fault

It's the whole mentality of, "Well, you should've known what you were getting into, so it's your fault" I don't like.

@AshleyNunn There's not often a downside to learning more.

@JasonBerkan unless it's a college/university that gives you a useless degree and leaves you in a huge debt

4:49 PM
Especially when the platform doesn't make it clear right off the bat what the backer is getting into.

that seems like a pretty big downside

Question: Why the ?

@Frank I don't think anyone is saying "it's your fault", but it you should take responsibility for your actions

@Batophobia Deep dish "pizza".

backing is risky and you have to take responsibility for your investments

4:50 PM
@Chippies I said "not often".

@JasonBerkan So, because @Yuuki is a monster?

I don't remember. I assume @LessPop_MoreFizz started the discussion.

@Batophobia I'm all for updating it to be personally.

@Chippies By going, "Welp, shit happens sometimes, learn from it", you're blaming them for not having all the knowledge they now have.

@Powerlord I'd vote for that

4:51 PM
@Powerlord I'll get right on that... curses!

20 hours ago, by Sterno
@Frank No. That's like saying I'm blaming a guy who had an airplane fall on his house for not seeing the future. I'm saying you SUCK IT UP AND BUILD A NEW HOUSE

There's an element of responsibility on the backer's end, but I'm not comfortable with placing all the blame on their plate, not when the Accountability information isn't put front and center.

@Chippies "Welp, you were driving in front of that crazy guy. Really it's your fault that you are in the hospital"

@Chippies No. That's not even close to the same thing.

@Batophobia it's not your fault, no one is saying it's your fault

4:53 PM
@Powerlord You could say your plugin has reached... sunglasses its end of the line.

the whole blame game isn't getting anyone anywhere either

also: not this discussion again combo ×2
7

it's obviously the creator's fault for failing a project, I don't think there's much debate about that

@badp I already linked the dead horse image about 30 minutes ago.

user15026
@JasonBerkan it helps that I really like what I am teaching myself. I kinda regret my uni degree, but I can spin it all into a glorious pile of "I am smart" so I guess that is okay

4:54 PM
29 mins ago, by Powerlord
user image

@Frank the information takes one look at the FAQ and one click on a link within the FAQ

@AshleyNunn but you are smart!

@Chippies Yeah, but the mentality of backers being 100% aware of what they're doing is what I'm arguing against.

@Powerlord I THINK I SAW IT TWITCHING. QUICK, HIT IT AGAIN.

@Frank ignorance doesn't remove the responsibility
the information is easily available

4:55 PM
@badp Confidence leveled up

it's the backers fault for not reading it

@Chippies easily available != full knowledge of risks.

@AshleyNunn I know that I am blessed with this, but having a job doing something I like has been one of the best things to happen to me.

@Frank the fact that they are unaware of the risks, in general, of investing in things is their fault

user15026
@badp I know that, I just gotta convince the jobs I want that I am their kind of smart! Which is why I am making notes from a book the size of my head to take tests that cost me stupid money to prove I know stuff.

4:55 PM
@badp Anyway, that plugin is pretty useful because stupid tf_arena_use_queue 0 completely disables scrambling.

if they threw their money at the screen without realizing the risks, it's their own responsibility to deal with the consequences

Q: Minecraft server crashed

OwanHelp!! I tried making a minecraft server (with about 50 mods) but it keeps crashing. Help me understand this crash report ---- Minecraft Crash Report ---- // Daisy, daisy... Time: 20/11/14 16:45 Description: Exception in server tick loop java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: reifnsk/minimap/Re...

@AshleyNunn 1 word: Buzzwords

@murgatroid99 Which would be great, if that was how Kickstarter actually portrayed backing a project.

I immediately tossed said plugin on my PropHunt server. DHooks-enabled PropHunt correctly swaps team scores around, so...

user15026
4:56 PM
@JasonBerkan It took me a long time to determine what makes me happy and longer to let myself go after it. Fixing that now.

> When you back a project, you’re helping to create something new — not ordering something that already exists. There’s a chance something could happen that prevents the creator from being able to finish the project as promised.
it's in the FAQ

@AshleyNunn :)

@Chippies Which is buried, and you have to actively search for it.

@Frank On this site, don't we hold people responsible for reading the FAQ?

4:58 PM
@Frank it's right at the bottom of every page

@murgatroid99 Yeah, but we don't actually get money from user actions.

"learn more" seems to be aimed towards the creators, not backers anyway

There's a difference between a community run free site, and one that profits from every project that gets backed.
They have an obligation to at least attempt to educate those that are going to part with their money for something.

user15026
@frank which they do with the inclusion of the faq

@Frank I don't really know what to tell you if FAQ is not enough
if someone throws money at something without even reading the FAQ, that is their own damn fault

4:59 PM
@Chippies I don't see burying that information in a link at the bottom of the page as effort.
I see it as tacking it on after the fact.

user15026
It's not buried! It's right there.

@Frank I'll have to disagree with that and I'm not gonna even try to convince you otherwise.

@Frank So every time the user clicks "Buy" (or equivalent) they should get a popup saying "You are not guaranteed this product"?

user15026
Just because you don't take the time to read all of the info provided to you doesnt make it the company's fault

That's annoying

5:01 PM
and their ToS is actually extremely well readable

user15026
Anyway, moving on. Anyone got like a most favourite gotta use blogging platform, or is it just kinda all the same now?

@AshleyNunn I like Wordpress

user15026
I kinda feel like blogging my brain thinking while I study all this computer junk :)

Yeah, the FAQ link is right there, on the front page. Past the, "Here's some cool projects!", and the Staff Picks, and the "popular projects", and the "Find more projects that your friends buy", and the curated pages. I'm not saying that they need to throw the backer beware in your face, but the message you get is, "Backing projects are awesome! This platform helps you do that! Here's projects for you to back!"
@Batophobia Not every time. But the first time, yes, absolutely.

user15026
Backing doesn't equal buying

5:03 PM
@AshleyNunn And how are backers supposed to be aware of that?

@Frank Even then, there will be people that do not read it

@AshleyNunn I use whatever links to my Google account, because I'm lazy and it was easy to setup.

They can make a popup where you agree to ToS and no one will read it, just like every other service on the internet

@AshleyNunn Most people don't understand this, however it's entirely their problem

@Batophobia Which is alright. All I'm saying is that the mentality that everyone should know better than to think backing is a guarantee, shouldn't be so prevalent. I think there's an argument to be made that Kickstarter fails at informing backers of that fact.
And that we shouldn't be blaming backers when they don't understand that.

user15026
5:06 PM
@JasonBerkan Yeah, I don't want anything too difficult. I'm lazy.

@MetaFight is that a Rush'n Attack avatar?

close
Bionic Commando

This is what I currently get when I try to back a project, and that's awesome.
The first time you back one, though, I think that box in the top-right needs to made much more prominent.
It might even do that, I don't know.
If it does, I'm complaining about nothing at all.
Nope. Tested it by logging out, and trying to back another one. Same thing.

@Frank So because people don't read the screen right next to the amount they pledge, it's Kickstarter's fault?

> I think there's an argument to be made that Kickstarter fails at informing backers of that fact.

user15026
5:11 PM
@frank so they do tell you, pretty prominently, so this whole argument is moot?

Not at all, it it literally right there

flashing, scrolling text across the screen?

user15026
It's right there! If you don't read it, well, making it giant and whatever isnt going to help you.

@Batophobia How does SE do it?

5:12 PM
@MetaFight Why not use a Rearmed avatar?

@Frank Put it behind Help->Tour

@AshleyNunn I'm not saying they don't do it.

(or at least that looks like Bionic Commando classic to me)

I'm saying they could do it better.

user15026
sigh okay whatever

5:13 PM
@Powerlord I've had this avatar for much longer than Rearmed has been around.

@Frank Solution: Apply for Kickstarter, change it so it does what you want

@Batophobia I think new users get a, "How to ask" screen before they're allowed to ask their first question.

user15026
I have zero spoons left for this

@Frank Time for SCIENCE!!

@Frank If people don't read the text labelled "Important" on the one screen they have to go through, that's their own damn fault

5:14 PM
If you get a page prior to your first backing that informs you of this information, and you ignore it, then, yes, it's totally the backers fault.

@Frank that looks like exactly the image you just posted

@murgatroid99 Yes, because they're not bombarded with enough information prior to that point.
@murgatroid99 Yeah, I tested it.

@Frank then what's the problem?

There's space between, "Well, it's your own damn fault for not reading everything", and, "Well, y'know, you might actually have a point."

@Frank It's a prominently displayed box headed by the word "important" with a different background color

I don't think it's reasonable to heap all the blame on backers for not being totally coherent of the fact that they're not buying something.

And I don't think it's reasonable to blame Kickstarter for people's failure to read the text right in front of them

@murgatroid99 Yeah, because everyone reads everything put in front of them. Yep.
By the point they're going to back a project, they've already bought into the hype of the project.

5:19 PM
@Frank If someone is going to fail to read no matter what, what will making the information more prominent accomplish?

The first time you back something, I think there could be some better education of the fact that it's not a purchase.

some people don't read the tour we force them to go through before asking. And that's their fault

user15026
...I have the feeling this is an argument that could go on forever. How about we not?

Just to slow down, and be careful before you back for the first time.

@Frank SO has this which feels more like a ToS that I'm just going to check and move along

5:20 PM
@AshleyNunn yeah, sure

@AshleyNunn Sure, so long as we don't automatically blame a backer for not reading a tiny box beside the backer tiers.
@Batophobia Yeah, that's a bit of a wall of text.

Q: How can I quickly collect the chaos emeralds in the Security Hall?

alexqwxI'm in the Security Hall level (Stage 8 in the dark storyline) of Sonic Adventure 2, and I'm struggling to collect the 3 chaos emeralds within the 5-minute time limit, mainly because, every time I die/run out of time, the emeralds change location. Also, sometimes the emeralds seem to be in stupid...

Q: Minecraft server crashed.... AGAIN

OwanHELLPPP!! ---- Minecraft Crash Report ---- // Oh - I know what I did wrong! Time: 20/11/14 17:05 Description: Exception in server tick loop java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: net/minecraft/client/gui/GuiScreen at source_code293.customlanport.CustomLanPortDummy.postInit(CustomLanPortDummy.java...

That said, it still throws a roadblock in your way, and forces an action before you can continue.

5:24 PM
@Batophobia By forcing that action, though, the user had provided some interaction.

@Batophobia I thought the biggest lie ever was "This is what I'll do when I'm elected"

@Powerlord Too specific to politicians
but close

All we have here is a small box, overshadowed by the tiers you can back.

Top right of a page, I think that's a pretty good place for it

So, I hear Amazon pulled that Barbie: I Can Be a Computer Engineer book

user15026
Mattel apologized via Facebook (or at least someone did on the Barbie page) saying it was written in 2010 and they are sorry and will be more empowering

@Powerlord Yeah, also this
7 hours ago, by 5pike
Wow, Mattel acknowledges that the Barbie book is sexist (and shit).

Footer image from the last Humble Book Bundle newsletter:
Kind of an obvious hint

@Frank I don't know. You seem pretty outraged without knowing if the promise was made, or even having been a backer. Internet outrage is easy to come by!

Oh, I should probably leave soon.

user15026
5:32 PM
@powerlord did you make a food decision? :)

@PrivatePansy HL3 confirmed?

@PrivatePansy the new comic, I'm assuming

My food decision was made for me!

@Rapitor What the hell?

5:43 PM
@Rapitor I love that video

@5pike Japanese arcade coin dozer game.

This is crazy

user15026
@saintwacko Oh?

5:44 PM
Oh god, I'm stuck in TVTropes and I can't get out

@AshleyNunn We're pretty short on money right now, so I had brought food, but I was going to use a couple dollars I found in my car this morning to buy some soup because potato soup

This is bonkers
LOVE IT

*Gets another ball*
"This is like having a second child"

Then one of my coworkers mentioned that she wasn't sure how to change the flat tire on her car, so another coworker and I went and helped her change it
So she offered to buy us lunch

5:45 PM
Wee! Work UPS died on me!

Once we got down to the cafeteria, we discovered that they were serving a Thanksgiving meal, so I ended up getting ham, cheesy mashed potatoes, corn, bread, and cranberry sauce, and also didn't have to spend the found money!
@RedRiderX Thank you

@SaintWacko I try

I love when games, especially arcade cabinets just go complete bonkers with shit going on everywhere

Oh good, Clients From Hell is back!

still cant do that with couch gaming or pc gaming

5:49 PM
@Rapitor They are rigged as hell, though.

@5pike clearly this one is a troll. but since it requires physical items to function (coins and balls) it will always balance out
if it loses a lot (like it was in the video) it will most likely win very soon to empty out

And now that I've had my daily quota of arguing, it's time to get some work done.

avoid digital slots

@Rapitor Yeah, that's a given, but even those price/crane games are heavily rigged.

user15026
@SaintWacko That's pretty awesome

Q: Does the number of spears/spikes in an upright spike trap make a difference on its effectiveness?

mkaitoAs you know, you can place anywhere between 1 and 10 spears or spikes in an upright spear/spike trap. Does the number of used items affect the trap in any way?

user15026
Made it to my desk! This is a grand achievement.

@AshleyNunn \o/

@Rapitor That is amazing

user15026
My entire head is questioning this upright-ness.
