Q: Time zone for house taxes due in ArcheAge?

Sales and property taxes are unstable income, our government has to guesstimate how much revenue we get from them, overestimate and we have to slash programs left and right. And the legislature only has 3 months to come up with a budget.

Did you know that the Texas legislature only meets for 120 days every two years?

Without actually having a point at which you have to stop spending, every government is just going to continue. It won't be their job to clean up the mess.

The way the Texas government is organized is kinda funny and a little bit of a work of genius.

For one, the attorney general and the lieutenant governor are elected on separate ballots and cannot be removed from office by the governor, which makes for some hilarious politics.

Since they can essentially do whatever they want and the governor can't fire them.

Especially when interest rates are low, it's actually pretty valuable to rack up debt and invest it in infrastructure, which will provide a boon to the economy and increase future revenues

Governments, once they start going into debt, rarely actually make an effort to pay down the debt. All they do is continue paying the interest, and leave the actual principal of the debt to future governments.

That hinders the growth possible, due to having to service a debt made previously.

Yes, the same is true for international debt. But if you don't like the end date for, let's say, your house. You can get another loan at a different rate with a different end date from another institution, or even the same institution, somewhere down the line.

They pay down the effective debt by having deficits smaller than revenue growth.
