Last week water found its way into my M5's brake booster.
The M5 forums document that people who have suffered from a similar problem will replace their brake booster to fix it. No mention is made of whether the brake booster is actually salvageable.
Is it possible that the brake booster can be...
My suggestion is to clean out the moisture using alcohol, then see if there is anything you can address (to fix), then replace the booster and see if it's working. I'd bet there isn't any long term damage, but that's an approximation.
As long as the water hasn't been in the booster for a long period of time, you shouldn't have too much to worry about ... but I'd get it cleaned out sooner rather than later.

Sorry, I've been exploring the depths of my own idiocy all day. Why doesn't this code work? Because I am the stupidest man who's still able to get himself to work. :-p
It's especially fun when the vendor's documentation is different for the actual behavior of the thing. This creates a fascinating mystery for you to solve. It's a journey of discovery!
