Q: How do I increase the number of semaphore arrays in Linux?

Daniel C. SobralIn a Debian lenny server running postgresql, I noticed that a lack of semaphore arrays is preventing Apache from starting up. when editing posts do you guys remove hello/thanks etc like we do on SF ?

@Iain I do yes
I don't know who else does, but it's not frowned upon here

Thanks - just wanted to check before I did too many
Hello/thanks and tag lines are discouraged on SF

@Iain in SE in general actually
I personally also remove apologies (hi, I'm new here, so...)
needless noise

Thats what iIgenerally do too If you use Safari or Chrome there is a handy userscript that can help auto edit a lot of common stuff

@Iain d u have url?

5:07 PM
stackapps.com/questions/2209/se-editor-toolkit it works for safari and I think Chrome.
If anyone can get it working in FF then a lot of people would be very grateful

damn, that will be nice... lemme look
I use Chrome

when you click on edit you will get additional functions on the toolbar - have fun

thanks

there are a few nice scripts there - this one is nice if you use chat a lot and like to know when you gained rep stackapps.com/questions/1745/…

I'm not sure about SE2 sites but on SO/SF/SU there is now a 50 questions per 30 day rolling limit

@Iain : I thought they had a unified policy across all sites.
what rep do you have to hit before you automatically get 100 on any site as a newcomer?

@MichaelMrozek : Thanks. That's what I thought.
@MichaelMrozek: comments on the question renaming?

@FaheemMitha The question doesn't seem to have anything to do with config files

@MichaelMrozek : It doesn't?

He deleted a package-managed file and wanted to get it back, I think

@MichaelMrozek : Right, which happened to be a config file.
Would make it easier for people to find if they are looking for config file info.

5:49 PM
@FaheemMitha init.d/apache2 isn't a config file, it's a shell script

Q: System Backup in Fedora 14

LeeMobileDoes anyone know how I can backup an entire system, such that if the disk drive failed, I could quickly restore the backup onto another disk? I'm running Fedora 14. Thanks!

6:19 PM
@MichaelMrozek : Debian treats it as a config file. Read the answers.

@MichaelMrozek Johnny/Lance isn't really a new user, and I don't think he's improving
@Iain I do it if I'm editing the post for some other reason (formatting, grammar, title…) but I won't edit just for that
and I tend to reject minor edits, e.g. just to remove “hi” (removing a big signature is ok, or of course doing other improvements besides).
@MichaelMrozek It's a “conffile” in deb terminology
