@meda As I said, I really don't know. My understanding is that you need a Java runtime engine to be able to run java files so yes, I think it's not possible.
I am very, very far from being an expert though so I may w ell be wrong.
@Basil Ah, I might take you up on that. I have a synology NAS and was regenerating the volume when it started beeping at me. The http interface is down and I can't ssh to it so I have no idea how to fix it.
Don't really have time to troubleshoot right now but I might ask a Q and point you to it.

Not a direct answer to your question. But If you have to use some new features from mysql 5.6, you can consider using mariadb. It has a official repo for Debian Wheezy and had pretty much everything mysql 5.6 got.
