12:07 AM
@Izzy Useful :) i shall start reading. Im just nervous to break my phone haha, no warranty and not from my carrier

12:18 AM
@SimonSheehan As usual when doing this for the first time. Took me almost a year until I found the balls for it, so I know how you feel :)

@Izzy What did you do to yours?

2 hours later…
2:45 AM
@Izzy And that is your 4999th msg :P
@Izzy Oh.. Damn... Why didn't I think of religions..? :D
@Izzy That's very nice btw ;-)
@Izzy Its morning & I have to goto colg... (Sorry, I am at my colg.) :P
BTW, Sorry for that huge pings..!
But, I have to reply those different messages :D

4 hours later…
6:49 AM
@CrazyBuddy Well, so let's break #5.000 :D
@CrazyBuddy That's Jewish sports: When the movie ends, read all the names and check: Ah, that's one of us... #D
@CrazyBuddy Yepp, and the second reason why I decided for that manufacturer. First reason is good quality for low price: I've got my 7" tabby with DualCore 1.2GHz 1GB RAM 8GB Memory, HD resolution, HDMI out and all that for 135 Euro incl. shipping :D
@CrazyBuddy Assuming colg. is "college": Enjoy learning! And don't worry too much for the "time lag", that's caused by different time zones mostly...

2 hours later…
8:53 AM
@Izzy 135 Euro..? - Ooohhh.. It's so cheap ;-)
@Izzy Nah... I know you'll reply sometime..!
BTW, I have a problem with the first phrase: "Enjoy learning"..!
I enjoy learning only when I'm self-learning. Oh, You don't know the situation here. Isn't it?
For now, I don't enjoy learning in colg. As for me (in my state), learning in schools & colleges is the greatest sin that you make to yourself..!
I don't take you into our boring story of edu. system..! :P
Shortly, Professors & teachers (almost 99% of 'em) teach just because they should...
They don't make their classes interactive. In my whole colg. (about 70 or 80 lecturers AFAIK), only 2 or 3 are excellent...
Others are very much boring...
So, I bunk some classes, read some books (not colg. books..!), watch online science programs, etc...
But still, I have to keep myself sustained withing the 75% attendance :(

9:19 AM
@CrazyBuddy Yeah, and it's working great. Also support is fine. Well, for the latter I'm no longer an objective example: They do know by now who I am, so I've got their 8" and 10" tablet sent home for free :D
@CrazyBuddy You've made your point: I really don't know...
@CrazyBuddy Oh. That implies much enthusiasm (don't get me wrong: I don't mean "from the professors and teachers -- but rather from their students!)
@CrazyBuddy I guess they take the term "reading" literally...

@Izzy Why's that so?

@CrazyBuddy Well: You check what the topic is, and bring the right books with you to really learn the stuff #D

@Izzy Nah, I know... Now, I'm somewhat inclined with the system here :P

@CrazyBuddy Because they want their devices become more public. If a known author uses them as a reference, that's also a kind of advertising.

@Izzy But mostly, I've started trying something...
I take my GY to classes..

9:24 AM
A tablet would fit better, right?

Of course.. But, I'd get caught with that..!
If the lecturer keeps me boring, I take my phone out, and start reading the PDFs and DJVU's in there :D
Nice.. Isn't it? (I started that policy some 10 days ago)

Oh -- so it's not only the teachers do only what they must, make it hard for you to really learn -- but they even forbid you to really learn? =:-0

@Izzy Yup..
Guys here wanna make us the toys of 'em..!
Almost everyone (except me) agree with it...
Shouting at me: "What can we do?"

@CrazyBuddy Yeah, that's what I thought about: Reading the right topics to educate yourself. With a good reading app (recommendation: Moon+ Reader Pro, until tomorrow it is 50% off in the playstore -- deal! Strongly recommended for learning!) you can even use highlights and annotations, to follow up later.

Teachers want us to learn what they say and not other things...
@Izzy I see, but I don't have any accounts or money over the internet..
I use all the free apps & not even touched the paid ones :(

9:29 AM
"Learning by rote" -- that never lead to wisdom. You then can tell literally what who said, but you do not necessarily understand it.

Coz, I haven't got money for my own purposes :(
@Izzy That's what our system praises :(

That's a pity! But you might still take a look at the free version -- though that misses PDF support.

That's one of the reason why the state toppers (learning here) struggle in campus placements ;-)
@Izzy For now, I use Ebook droid, as it supports both djvu & pdf..
Still, it doesn't have the TTS & text recognition :(
Well, if you have enough time (I mean, when you goto bed), have a look at my fav. question over parenting:
And my answer too ;-)
3
Q: Where does a child's intellectual curiosity come from?

Gabriel FairI am curious to any research or theories to where children develop their intellectual curiosity. I want to be able to do everything I can to help nurture this.

@CrazyBuddy MR+ pro has all of that. Supports all thinkable formats, TTS, highlights, annotations, bookmarks, dropbox sync...
@CrazyBuddy I'm sorry, but I won't be answering that -- enough to do already, no time left for another stack ;)

@Izzy Well, a friend of mine buys certain apps (a foreign guy)..
I can borrow from him sometime maybe ;-)
@Izzy Nah.. I didn't ask you to answer it..
Just have a fast skim :P

9:50 AM
@CrazyBuddy they get to know the answers to most of the things via interaction in schools -- LOL not your college experience, huh? (Sorry)

@Izzy Yes.. But not that basic...
Now, we may discuss about quantum mechanics & general relativity :P

10:38 AM
@CrazyBuddy quantum physicists -- the only people who can be at two places at the same time? #D

11:17 AM
@Izzy Nah... Just kidding.. I'm just a beginner in both :P

11:30 AM
LOL

3 hours later…
2:53 PM
@Flow / @BryanDenny just a short question of understanding, before I (maybe) put that to Meta: What's the difference between the tags and supposed to be -- especially considering the fact that since there is no such thing as a virus for Android, the latter is a rather misleading term?
I'm about to suggest a merge, and making antivirus a synonym.

3:27 PM
Saying there is no such thing as a virus for Android is dangerous. We could discuss the definition of computer virus again, but for me it's similar to a trojan horse/rootkit/etc
And there are Apps from anti vir software manufacturers for Android
I tend to not make then a synonym because they are both sides of the same medal, but still different
And what is really fact is that "There is no publicly known virus for Android". Who can tell if the Chinese Hackers/NSA/BND hasn't developed a highly sophisticated virus not know to a wider audience.

A computer virus is a computer program that can replicate itself and spread from one computer to another. The term "virus" is also commonly, but erroneously, used to refer to other types of malware, including but not limited to adware and spyware programs that do not have a reproductive ability. Malware includes computer viruses, computer worms, ransomware, trojan horses, keyloggers, most rootkits, spyware, dishonest adware, malicious BHOs and other malicious software. The majority of active malware threats are usually trojans or worms rather than viruses. Malware such as trojan horses...
@Flow The term "virus" is also commonly, but erroneously, used to refer to other types of malware
Yeah, a controversely discussed term, I agree :)

I don't think that wikipedia is right here

@Flow Highly unlikely (term: sandbox), but not impossible, true.

It is unlikely that wikipedia has false information? I doubt that
Anyway for me 'virus' is just an antiquated term that was used in the Win 3.X, 95, 98 and maybe 2000 days for a malicious program of any kind

@Flow I guess that falls into the term "not constructive" (...solicit debate...extended discussion).

3:39 PM
Nowadays we have 'Trojans', 'Rootkits', 'Malware' etc

Agreed.
@Flow Let's use that meanwhile: "antivirus" referring to those "anti-whatever-evil-things-apps", and "malware" to the "whatever-evil-things" themselves?
I'd then set up the tag wikis accordingly.

the german wiki entry has nice comparison between virus and worm
but again it'd like to read about this topic on some compuer forensic science literature before I'm convinced that this are common terms and classifications
bbl

Yeah, I also like the "description of the term" better: instead of "erraneously" they use "umgangssprachlich", which is less dangerous :)
@Flow Just short: Do you agree with my proposed tag descriptions?
one for the "evil things", and one for the "antivirus apps"?

and how do you name those two tags?

As they are (we can rename them anytime if we feel the need). I think "malware" is fine, "antivirus" is also OK (could be renamed to "antivirus-apps" with "antivirus" as synonym, to make it clearer)

3:46 PM
k

or "antivirus-solutions", whatever. For now, I'd say they are fine, just need a tag wiki to define their intention.
Good! Then I go ahead with the tag wikis.
