Can somebody help me understand why this reset icon shows up multiple times. Risks
Thanks

heya!
so a couple days ago I asked this question:
0
A: Why can't my phone connect to cell network data?

strugeeTurns out this wasn't a problem with the phone. I called Ting customer support and apparently all that happened was I hit 5 GB of data usage, so they shut off my data automatically to prevent an unexpectedly huge bill at the end of the billing cycle. According to the support person, you can self...

and (as you can see by the fact that I accidentally linked to the answer instead of the question) I answered it myself - turns out it wasn't actually a problem with the device itself, but rather a problem with my carrier.
should this be closed? on Unix & Linux and Stack Overflow this would be closed as off-topic because it appeared to be caused by something minor like a typo or something, but I couldn't find anything like that in the flagging interface of Android Enthusiasts
so I thought I'd ask here :)

@strugee: IMO, it needn't be closed- it may help somebody with same carrier specific issue.

4:45 AM
@beeshyams cool, thanks! :)

@strugee: welcome. Had the question been around carrier specific issues that would have called for closure- you had done enough spadework to identify causes and discovered it to be carrier specific- so that should be perfectly fine

@beeshyams ah, I see. awesome
took me a minute to parse that sentence :P

@strugee I second @beeshyams here. Though the culprit was outside Android, it initially looked like an issue with your installation. While we'd close a question which explicitly asks for something on the provider's end, we don't do so in a case were that's not so, like in yours.
Thanks for caring, and for self-answering!

7:13 AM
@Izzy no problem! that's what we're all here for, right? :)

@strugee Yupp :)

Before I swing Thor's hammer on it: Am I the only one considering Are there any rowhammer resistance phones? off-topic?
@beeshyams even upvotes and answers it, which left me with the hammer up in the air :)
Basically, this fits the close-reason "asking us to find or recommend an […] device".

I don't think it's asking for a recommendation, it's asking if something even exists
tbh I'd have VTC'ed as Android-independent, because it's about the hardware, but actually I like beeshyams' answer. It might slightly reinterpret the question, but in such a way as to make it relevant for us, I think.

3:34 PM
@izzy and @DanHulme : LoL, I never thought about the OT bit, got excited about a new vulnerability and plunged into digging up. It's up to mods but vulnerability presented in answer may make it pertinent

@DanHulme Exactly what made me hesitating (and yes, "independent" was what came to my mind as well).
I might have VTC'd if I were not a mod :) But agreed on "borderline", I keep my fingers off. Thanks for your feedback, @DanHulme & @beeshyams !

I've upvoted it now too, so I hope nobody closes it

:)

3:56 PM
Thanks @DanHulme and @izzy

Just curious, when does all the chatting happen around here?

When nobody looks? #D
Or when someone starts a "chatting session" with something interesting.

8:40 PM
No regular times :)

I see, cause I've tried you guys in the morning, afternoon, and evening, and I never catch you!

9:01 PM
@MarkYisri I don't see any chat-post from you in the mentioned times?
At least today, there was activity in the morning and the late afternoon. Oh, depending on my timezone that is (European).
So what's up, what do you want to discuss? Before everyone here falls asleep again :)

9:22 PM
It's because I never posted because I thought no one was paying attention

9:50 PM
@MarkYisri It works the other way around: Ask your specific question (don't ask whether to ask).
It might take a little for someone to notice the "new traffic" (especially after "long silence"), but usually and eventually someone will answer you.

@Izzy okay, it's seems ironic
I see @Edity having problems with his watch

Maybe – but that's how it works :) Now: How can we be of assistance?
@MarkYisri Yeah, he was discussing with the two Dans (after I went to bed last night).
