@ChristopherPeart btw I think cells like food in snake just doesnt appear and disappear outta nowhere
That might be the cause of the downvote
@mınxomaτ btw I wanted to ask, what actually happened to the podcast?

Still planning. I need a few free days to do this. Soon, but not very soon.

5:19 PM
Huh

Where did you get Windows pi?

Windows pi? It's Windows 2000

@TuxCopter Someone using Windows 2000 in 2017 confuses me too ;)

It's to kill it with viruses

5:21 PM
Ok, lol
@CheckOutTomato Dmitry

@CheckOutTomato What about Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwllllantysiliogogogoch?

Looks like I'll be choosing "wat" again.
Maybe an anagram of my current username?

The 3D pipes screensaver is entirely borked on Win2K

5:24 PM
@CheckOutTomato A Checkout Motto is beautiful

@TuxCopter I like Cake Touch Motto

> Tomcat Chokeout
4

Windows pi = Windows 3.14

I think I'll use that.
@mods Can my username be changed to Cake Touch Motto?

Is that really Win2k? I never thought they had such a crappy UI.
@CheckOutTomato NO! use Tomcat Chokeout

5:27 PM
@JanDvorak ...sure?

@JanDvorak Still better than 98 :P
And otherwise the UI is not that different from XP

I searched for anagrams for my name

And it even haves Pinball \o/

I found a nice one
> Math The Row

Just don't use "Chat took toe c__"
@CheckOutTomato sure!

5:28 PM
Umm whats in the c__?

@MatthewRoh Phrasing.

> Teach Mut To Cook

Who's Mut?

ummm... you don't want to know.

> Hack Comet To Out

5:31 PM
Was trying to block out the c__ and c___ but my school filter blocks me out when I try to because it has a keyword filter

@TuxCopter Uhh.. haves?

has* I hate english

I gtg
see ya later bois

@CheckOutTomato How about "Mendeleev" for the chemist. Relates to your name in a non-obvious way and is much classier than anything involving Tomatoes or anagrams...

> bois
@HelkaHomba OK, and I could have a periodic table as my profile picture

5:32 PM
sure
CMC: If you had to change your SE username to that of a famous scientist, who would it be?
I claim Faraday :)

Grigori Perelman

Mendeleev I guess

@HelkaHomba Does Alan Turing count?

Sure

@DJMcMayhem That's what I was about to say

5:35 PM
aight @Dennis can you please eleven my profile?

@HelkaHomba How many famous scientists have SE usernames? ;-P

Either him or Louis Pasteur

Extended CMC: Actually change your username

@Pavel I already did

Confuse the hell out of the people asleep right now

Rod
5:36 PM
@HelkaHomba does Thomas Edison count? If so, then I'll go with Nikola Tesla

@Rod Either sounds good

Planck
If not turing

Off topic: is a double equality like 3+4=7=2*3+1 still just called an "equation"? (rather than multiple equations)

pls
Who are the mods that can eleven my username?

5:38 PM
I think anyone who's a mod anywhere on SE can do it

@CheckOutTomato Riker, Wizzwizz, Elendia, Dennis, Martin, Doorknob, Alex, more...

Dennis is the only one I see on the user list

Should I ping some of them?

@HelkaHomba not really sure. It could be called 3 even

5:39 PM
@CheckOutTomato You could just wait a month instead of bothering the mods. They aren't there to change people's usernames at every whim

I have already changed it!
I just need my profile to be bumped

@ГригорийПерельман As long as you don't change your avatar it'll be fine

@CheckOutTomato It'll happen automatically if you're patient

5:39 PM
I predict it will happen right now

There it goes

@Mendeleev There's a trick, in chat profile change parent user and change back to what it was originally.

The first anagram of "productions" is... "productions"
How helpful :P

@ГригорийПерельман OK, I just did that actually

> The Discount Pro

5:40 PM
I like that

@ГригорийПерельман This. Also making sure your SE network profile is updated

> Abscess Unit
Ew

> Too many users are currently using the server. Please try again later.

@ГригорийПерельман лол

5:42 PM
Aw man

I think I lost ~$5 worth of cryptocurrency by forgetting my passphrase.

I kinda like Basic Sunset

Ooh, that one's good.

Lol, we broke it
> Too many users are currently using the server. Please try again later.

5:46 PM
> Fish mint gags I

> The No Script Duo

To be fair, fish mints sound pretty gross

This one is slightly mysterious: "The rips do count"

Do it mate
Perelman is the most stereotypical mathematician ever.
Needs glasses tho

@ETHproductions This one is perfect
Please use it!!

Rod
5:50 PM
@ГригорийПерельман then he would turn into James Gosling

I'd love to, but I really don't want to be stuck with a weird username for a month :(

@ГригорийПерельман Except he turned down a million dollars ._.

@ГригорийПерельман wow that username

Yes.
@ETHproductions It will be worth

in :chat!, 2 mins ago, by A---B
I tried Hotdog colorscheme and now I have to get a new pair of eyes.
11
@Doorknob thought you'd appreciate that. XD

i came to ask a question about unicode and saw your username :D
should i write my name in a console program using u or ü?

but some terminal emulators dont support unicode

Rod
@DJMcMayhem how do you people quote chats like this? same goes for quoted comments?

Paste the message's permalink

5:54 PM
^

Why exactly is BigDecimal.valueOf(2.0).equals(BigDecimal.valueOf(2)) false (in Java)
Who designed this class

even vim itself agrees hotdog.vim is cancer

@ГригорийПерельман Is that you Pavel? Also, does it spell "Gregory"?

5:59 PM
@Riker I didn't knew I needed this in my vim until now

I didn't know anybody needed that much cancer
@TuxCopter don't do it

@ГригорийПерельман Grigori*

i beg of you

Why not use a good one, like bad wolf, or Gotham?

6:00 PM
Wait, correct me if I'm wrong, but doesn't the Гр make a Gr sound?

Ah, I see it was a typo

@DJMcMayhem badwolf and solarized dark are the best themes to grace the earth

I use the seoul-light256 colourscheme

I use Solarized Dark

6:01 PM
@Riker hmm. I don't actually have solarized dark, just regular

@KritixiLithos too bright for me

Screenshot?

Gosh is it weird to see "colorscheme" written in British English

I use the default colorscheme because idk how to install one

@DJMcMayhem kk 1 sec

for me I had to make it my terminal theme to get it to work in vim (though I have no problems with that!)
ti's amazing

@Riker What about just seoul256? I used to use that, but then I changed my Terminal to a lighter background so I stuck with a lighter colorscheme

the one downside is it makes nethack colors a bit harder to distinguish, but I don't mind that much

My terminal is Solarized Dark also.

That doesn't look very much different than regular solarized

6:03 PM
@DJMcMayhem yeah, I tweaked it a bit, 1 sec finding the orig version

Ah, solarized dark, that must be how you can see colours in NetHack

@KritixiLithos ?

@Riker You should try out Gotham, let me know what you think. It was the first colorscheme I used regularly
Right now I much prefer bad wolf though

hm, will do later

nvm I'm an idiot

6:04 PM
my only complaint about solarized dark is that black things don't show up well
but there's an optino to replace black with dark blue, which I do use
bc it stands out surprisingly more
at least to me (you wouldn't expect it, being dark blue on dark blue)

@ГригорийПерельман ikr solarized dark is bae

MacVim with seoul-light256

@KritixiLithos That is ugly af
No
Just no

6:06 PM
^

Switch to Hotdog, it might be better.

light themes are awful IMHO
@ГригорийПерельман NO.
<mod sirens in background> No hotdog.vim for you.

Alright, it's not that bad.

Those black-background comments...

@ГригорийПерельман and @KritixiLithos the dark versions of seoul seem to be nice though

6:08 PM
Oh yeah, that's not bad.
Don't really like that font tho
(I know it's not related to the colorscheme, but still)

<shrug>
@DJMcMayhem gotham is beautiful
<switches>
I just want that as a terminal theme now

@ГригорийПерельман It used to be ugly, but then after I switched to a Terminal with lighter background, it fits better

@Riker :D

:D

Is Gotham a terminal theme or vim colorscheme?

6:11 PM
Now that I've switched to badwolf, I don't really care for it's blue-ness, but it is still pretty good

@KritixiLithos vim apparently
looking for a terminal version though

yes

maybe kinda late?

6:13 PM
That looks almost like Solarized. It's nice.

Ooh, is nagl on GH yet?

> Using voice recognition to wrate thas ... :hotdog::hotdog:/10

@KritixiLithos no

is that a variant of solarized dark? looks kinda like it
@betseg name?

base16-solarized

6:13 PM
#solarizedmasterrace
@ГригорийПерельман and I think we can both agree solarized light is awful

@Riker Even better, #vimmasterrace

yah but solarized isn't just for vim

@MistahFiggins Voice recognition can write symbols

6:16 PM
I use Atom, Vim, Nano, and Gedit interchangeably.

> atom
eye twitches

Vim is the only editor I use. The rest are IDEs

I use text wrangler for many things

yeah, that's the only reason to use atom
psst @DJMcMayhem something that does ^^ :p

6:17 PM
I use the Jetbrains IDE for Ruby, Python, Java, C, etc.

@ГригорийПерельман Ugh, is that obj-c?

That's not my Atom
I don't know

Looks like Ruby to me, though I don't know what Obj-C looks like

@ETHproductions Right, if it's C-like it should use Semicolons

@Riker ugh... There's a lot of things I can do with vim, and that is definitely not one of them :P

6:20 PM
;-;

@ГригорийПерельман It's Coffe/LiveScript

:P but seriosuly, that would be epic

I know it's absolutely not possible though

Probably LiveScript. I've never seen @ in CoffeeScript

6:21 PM
On the other hand, you can hack Vim into Atom.

when you accidentally check your other window of chrome and see 60+ tabs there
and then you just pretend you don't and find the right window

> Let's not go there. 'Tis a silly place.

hey @DJMcMayhem is there a vim plugin for :open file tab autocomplete?
or is there a version of :open that does
:O nvm :edit works
@DJMcMayhem what's the difference between :open and :edit

@mınxomaτ depends, do you want said server to be broken?
2
@Riker golfed: :e

and/or do you want to apt-get the kernel after?
@Downgoat well yeah I know that

6:34 PM
:( thought I'd be vim guru for once :P

lel
you can, here
cc @DJMcMayhem explain^?

@Riker literally everything

well then have fun writing an answer if you want, otherwise explain in vim chat?

@Riker :edit already has tab-complete. I have no clue what :open is for

hm
what about :visual?

6:36 PM
Just a sec, I'll write up an answer
@Riker I have no clue, lol. I'm trying to figure it out myself

lol

Ugh, I just found out there's an official Go VIM syntax coloring plugin in my repos that doesn't need Vundle. So the only reason I installed Vundle just went poof
I've been addicted to Vundle, installing tons of broken terrible plugins that throw errors all the time for no reason
I blame @DJMcMayhem

RIP
shhh don't bug him he's busy digging me out of hole
:p
@quartata do you happen to know :open vs :edit vs :visual?

@quartata I use Vundle too, but I don't have broken erroring plugins

@Riker Yeah, :visual switches from ex to regular vim

6:42 PM
o_O

Sorta. To navigate you have to use :tabn and :tabpKritixi Lithos 1 min ago

:open does the same thing.

oh cool

@KritixiLithos gt and gT

@quartata wait wat

6:42 PM
I think.

what's the diff
highly unlikely they're identical

Hold on! I'm trying to explain, lol

> Works like :visual: end Ex mode.
from help

well yeah but why have :open at all then

@KritixiLithos Mostly because few plugins seem to support its API quirks

6:44 PM
@DJMcMayhem wow, that makes my life slightly easier

They still work but there's ugly errors in places
But I mean in general plugins never are a good idea for any piece of software
That's how we got Flash

You can just give the plugin's git repo as arguments like Plugin 'flazz/vim-colorschemes'

OK, allow me to retract the word "good idea." More like "fun idea."
They may work but that doesn't mean it won't cost you your sanity in some way
@KritixiLithos Still have to do :PluginInstall
Almost as much typing as cloning the repo

6:57 PM
> Sorry, we had to truncate this directory to 1,000 files. 3,025 entries were omitted from the list.
that's a lotta homebrew formulae

brew list gives me 40 formulae

that's all of the formulae, from the github repo

@Riker answered!

:D

@KritixiLithos You're welcome. :)
