@LeakyNun The second issue is a consequence of the first...

Well, lol

@El'endiaStarman You have registered on Project Euler as the account of Pytek? o_O
Your name could be lxx.bxxxxxxx, where your real name is masked (to avoid possible suspension).

dude dont doxx

3:14 PM
@zʏᴀʙiɴ101 I already have an account with > 110 problems solved.
This account is for writing Pytek programs to solve PE problems to help me develop the language.

That's why I was so excited.

@El'endiaStarman er mah good golly gosh
That's awesome

@El'endiaStarman Good, now don't publish the programs in SE chat.
Do it in the internal forum.

(If you publish in SE chat, which--I repeat--is journaled, then everyone can spoil the solution for themselves just by looking at the transcript.)

@zʏᴀʙiɴ101 Yeah, duh.

3:32 PM
@El'endiaStarman Wait, you did publish in SE chat?

The internal forum's thread is locked for that problem anyway since it has more than 200 posts.
@zʏᴀʙiɴ101 No, I'm saying that of course I wouldn't publish the solution here.

@EᴀsᴛᴇʀʟʏIʀᴋ @CᴏɴᴏʀO'Bʀɪᴇɴ @Upgoat I was pondering making some better TF2 bots for 6v6, here's some psuedo-code I have for the pocket soldier's thought process: gist.github.com/quartata/2a0c351a4e4baa29cc077b212f4fd4ae
What do you think?

reading
@quartata make sure you don't use any info a real player wouldn't know
i.e. bots detect eternal reward kills
(that actually happens currently)

@EᴀsᴛᴇʀʟʏIʀᴋ That wouldn't matter for 6v6 since yer is banned (at least in etf2l, don't know about esea)
But yeah, I get the idea

> if medic has just respawned and I'm closer to spawn than the closest open point
wait for medic
you don't get respawn notices though

3:42 PM
Yeah you do
Watch the scoreboard

What I meant by that is "if medic was dead according to the scoreboard last tick and is now alive"

oh okay
still seems unfair imo though
hahaha

In a real match the medic would say in Mumble "I just respawned"

3:43 PM
Step 1) Is there an enemy in front of me? Shoot it. Otherwise 2) Randomly either move forward a foot or turn right 45 degrees.

@EᴀsᴛᴇʀʟʏIʀᴋ top kek

@TimmyD that's basically what the default bots do

Yay, I'm an AI programmer!

Q: How to style hair like Captain America in Civl War?

SolarmewChris Evans got a sexy new haircut :D I've been trying to find some help and tutorials on how to cut and style hair like his, but couldn't find any. Do you guys have any suggestions?

@quartata 75 seems a tad too early to take out the escape plan

@CᴏɴᴏʀO'Bʀɪᴇɴ Pockets won't have gunboats so
An average jump deals about 40 damage with no gunboats

oh geez nvm I forgot the soldiers health'

I don't want them to be half-dead by the time they get to mid :P

@Mego why is it one? :/

3:48 PM
Plus the general idea with the escape plan rollout is that it gives the medic a chance to catch up (since med's faster)
Any other thoughts?
I should clarify that 2 non-soldier enemies means that the bot won't bomb the medic at all if the pocket or roamer are nearby
Not that they're ignored for the purposes of this

4:12 PM
@quartata Who is the medic?
An in-game bot that heals wounds?

Medic is a class
6v6 teams always have one
1 medic 2 soldiers (one called the "pocket" one called the "roamer") 2 scouts and a demo

@quartata Why would a war team have a demonstration?
Demonstration is a class? o_O

demoman

Demolitions

4:16 PM
Also: I'm readying three variable-sized FM radio bits packs that I got from the FM radio recording I got earlier this day. Apply in the Sandbox.

@quartata For variables in J, is it better to do foo =: bar or foo=: bar?

@CᴏɴᴏʀO'Bʀɪᴇɴ I prefer foo =: bar

@CᴏɴᴏʀO'Bʀɪᴇɴ foo =: bar, as it is better code to the parser. :P

Parser doesn't care, the lexer has already removed all the whitespace

4:17 PM
jsoftware.com/help/dictionary/samp22.htm it's not what the people who made the language do
but whatever
nvm
I missed "lexer"

So, I have a list open in Vim, with two numbers per line:

How to remove the first number from each line, in Vim?
@DJMcMayhem?

@quartata hopefully quick question--I'm trying to get all pairs of numbers that divide a number N. I think I can do this by taking the prime factors of N and multiplying them together in all different ways. I'm stuck on the "all different ways" part.

@zʏᴀʙiɴ101 :%s/^[^ ]*
(note the trailing space)

@Doorknob Danke schön. :)
@Doorknob Doesn't work.
E486: Pattern not found :/

works on my machine™

4:31 PM
The easiest way I could find is run dWj, and run it repeatedly until the end of the file.

You could recursive macro that.
ggqqqqqdWj@qq@q

@Doorknob It works :)

\o/

But assuming I'm already at the start of a file, and I don't have any macro saved at @q (I think it's the standard in vim golf), the final way is qqdWj@qq@q.
Thanks :)
@Geobits Idea for your new name: FM Radiobits :)
@DJMcMayhem Don't worry, we already did the problem with Doorknob.

There's a better way though.

4:41 PM
@DJMcMayhem than qqdWj@qq@q?

@Doorknob why not just do :%norm dW
?

TMTOWTDI

Yeah, but mine is the golfiest. :P

I finished the first three packs of FM radio bits. Apply in the Sandbox.

That would be 3 bytes in V: ÎdW
Or I suppose you could do: òdWj

4:55 PM
vim is for people who don't like regex?

No, it's got regex.

5:07 PM
I feel like these could be solved with simple regexes
it's probably just preference tho

Who is the idiot, who converts
for (var b of a) {

}
to something like
for (var _iterator = a, _isArray = Array.isArray(_iterator), _i = 0, _iterator = _isArray ? _iterator : _iterator[Symbol.iterator]();;) {
  var _ref;

  if (_isArray) {
    if (_i >= _iterator.length) break;
    _ref = _iterator[_i++];
  } else {
    _i = _iterator.next();
    if (_i.done) break;
    _ref = _i.value;
  }

  var b = _ref;
}

what's wrong with that?

@CᴏɴᴏʀO'Bʀɪᴇɴ The problem isn't with the outcome, my problem is with the conversion

@CᴏɴᴏʀO'Bʀɪᴇɴ It's not good code.

You could easily convert a for...of loop to

5:12 PM
@zʏᴀʙiɴ101 sure it is.

Good code is code that Balint can understand
@CᴏɴᴏʀO'Bʀɪᴇɴ ^

@zʏᴀʙiɴ101 he has no problem understanding the code, I think.

for (var i = 0; i < a.length; i++) {
    var b = a[i];
}

@Bálint Not all iterators have indices.

I have a working Collatz sequence program in Pytek!
n=100
\corePrint(n)

\while(1 < n){
    n = \if(n%2){3*n+1}{n//2}
    \corePrint(n)
}

5:14 PM
\o/
but why corePrint? is that the name of the printing function??
class Point {
	constructor(x, y){
		this.x = x;
		this.y = y;
	}

	*[Symbol.iterator](){
		yield this.x;
		yield this.y;
	}
}

let P = new Point(3, 5);
for(let k of P){
	console.log(k);
}

// 3
// 5
@Bálint

@CᴏɴᴏʀO'Bʀɪᴇɴ For now, yeah. I haven't yet developed a system that loads all of Pytek's built-in functions beforehand. \corePrint is essentially a wrapper for Python's print, and Pytek's \print will be more powerful and flexible.

Oh, cool!
What's it written in, again?

Python. :P

that means I can't run it :(
oh well

Aw bummer. :P
I'm gonna develop an online interface for it like I did for Minkolang.

5:17 PM
I may not have snake technology, but I do have goat cheese.

@CᴏɴᴏʀO'Bʀɪᴇɴ You don't have Python? :(

@zʏᴀʙiɴ101 I do. My computer is haunted and (1) won't let me install a new version and (2) won't let my use the old version
@El'endiaStarman I never looked at minkolang's code. I knew you did it in python, but I assumed you ported the code to JS.

@CᴏɴᴏʀO'Bʀɪᴇɴ Why does it define a new variable (_iterator) to store the iterator instead of using the already defined object?

@CᴏɴᴏʀO'Bʀɪᴇɴ It's either a PBKAC, a problem with Python or a problem with Windows Installer. Either way, I can't help.

@zʏᴀʙiɴ101 neither nor. my computer is haunted.

5:19 PM
@CᴏɴᴏʀO'Bʀɪᴇɴ I considered porting, but decided that it would be too much effort.

@CᴏɴᴏʀO'Bʀɪᴇɴ O_O

@CᴏɴᴏʀO'Bʀɪᴇɴ Which version of Windows do you have?

8.1
@Bálint _iterator = _isArray ? _iterator : _iterator[Symbol.iterator](). It can become it's own generator

@CᴏɴᴏʀO'Bʀɪᴇɴ And you skipped the manditory "recommended" update to 10?

5:20 PM
@CᴏɴᴏʀO'Bʀɪᴇɴ Do you know how to look at the properties of your computer? I.e. right-click "Computer" and select "Properties".

@El'endiaStarman yes. I wouldn't be worth half my salt as a programmer otherwise :P
@zʏᴀʙiɴ101 I might do it soon. It's free now, but will cost money soon

@CᴏɴᴏʀO'Bʀɪᴇɴ Good, just checking. :P IIRC, the info on whether your OS is 32-bit or 64-bit is in there.

@El'endiaStarman 64 bit maybe?
because most modern computers are 64 bit
but let @CᴏɴᴏʀO'Bʀɪᴇɴ say

(1) I have 32-bit python.
64 bit computer :P
who knew

Try picking one of the x86-64 installers from here. (Python 3, of course.)

5:24 PM
what does x86 do? o_O

Break on 64 bit OSes maybe? :P

:P
should I spring for the latest version, or stable?

@CᴏɴᴏʀO'Bʀɪᴇɴ That's 32-bit.

@CᴏɴᴏʀO'Bʀɪᴇɴ Go for 3.5.1. You should have no problems whatsoever with that one.
I'm using 3.5.0 at the moment since I'm a little lazy. :P

5:27 PM
@CᴏɴᴏʀO'Bʀɪᴇɴ var _isArray = Array.isArray(b), _i = 0, _iterator = _isArray ? a : a[Symbol.iterator]()

> You now have a credit of $21.06 in your Amazon account. Apple, Inc. (Apple) funded this credit to settle antitrust lawsuits brought by State Attorneys General and Class Plaintiffs about the price of electronic books (eBooks).
:D

@Geobits Do you like the name FM Radiobits? :3 :P

Not at all

@CᴏɴᴏʀO'Bʀɪᴇɴ I may be wrong, but I don't thin there were Symbols in es5

5:29 PM
@Bálint they aren't. but you can make polyfills

Q: Is it OK for an answer to not work from time to time if the language it's written in is probabilistic?

dorukayhanIf an answer is written in a language that deliberately prevents the programs written with it from doing the same output/calculations/etc. every time by introducing randomness, should it be deleted anyway?

NASAL SPRAY MAKES ME FEEL FUNNY

hey anyone understand OpenGL who could explain something to me?

My first close vote :D

@zʏᴀʙiɴ101 was it accepted?
lol

5:38 PM
@AshwinGupta haven't used it in a while, but what's your question?

@AshwinGupta Yes, but the question is not closed.

@MartinEnder well this line: glVertexAttribPointer(1, 3, GL_FLOAT, GL_FALSE, 0, 0);
so what is that specifying?
Is that for the VAO?
Or the VBO?

The question was voluntarily deleted by its author.

well thats good.
what was the question anyway?

@AshwinGupta "French spelling correction"

5:39 PM
oh.

Feed bot joke in coming in Six to Eight days.

I see.
aw shoot, yesterday was monday. XKCD time!

@AshwinGupta xkcd time? We have no xkcd time in this room. -._(._.)_.-

why not?!! I feel like that should be a thing.
Like seriously, it needs to be a scheduled event.

> why not?!!
24
A: Do we want XKCD autposted in chat?

Helka HombaNo We should remove the XKCD feed from The Nineteenth Byte.

5:43 PM
@AshwinGupta hm yeah, I also need to look that up every time I use it... does this help? stackoverflow.com/q/24876647/1633117 ... otherwise you can always ask on computergraphics.stackexchange.com :)

@MartinEnder thanks!
Ill give that a look

@zʏᴀʙiɴ101 I didn't even know that happened.

@DJMcMayhem That did happen.
Sep 30 '15 at 6:17, by Beta Decay
We need an xkcd bot for this room
A few minutes later...

I'm kinda bummed that everyone is opposed. I think an xkcd bot sounds awesome.

A few hours later...

@MartinEnder actually that helped a lot. One new question though: can I have multiple buffers bound to GL_ARRAY_BUFFER?

Star this message for a xkcd feed for this room.

@DJMcMayhem SAME!
i mean cmon guys, XKCD is wholesome entertainment.

Star this message against an xkcd feed for this room.
Good, let the starboard decide.

5:47 PM
who writes the feed anyway?

The users in this room are a fairly reliable xkcd feedbot. We don't need another one.
16

Is that really the most democratic way? What about strawpoll?

@EᴀsᴛᴇʀʟʏIʀᴋ "a xkcd"?

aw dammit
u beat me :(

So now, at least three people (including East) want xkcd autoposted in chat and at least two (me and @MartinEnder) don't.

not "an xkcd"?

@AshwinGupta he ninja'd you >:)

5:49 PM
somebody star that poll please
> x

"an ex-kay-sea-dee"

@zʏᴀʙiɴ101 I'd kinda like one, but I agree with Martin, and I wouldn't be heartbroken if we didn't get the feed.
It's not that big of a deal.

ikr
that was funny

@EᴀsᴛᴇʀʟʏIʀᴋ case in point: this is the third time this specific xkcd was posted

5:51 PM
oh.

Now it's @l 3 want and @l 2 don't.

Well if we had a bot, it should post at least 10-20 times a day (jk)

Every minute.

@CᴏɴᴏʀO'Bʀɪᴇɴ At least.

5:52 PM
@CᴏɴᴏʀO'Bʀɪᴇɴ Atleast, I'm guessing

Ninja'd

idea: let's not use chat stars for polls
