holy shit is the stanley parable leaderboard actually real

@CᴏɴᴏʀO'Bʀɪᴇɴ I thought that's what he was talking about

How on earth could they have implemented that without VScripts

@AlexA. no I mean like ABC does things when ABCABC

Oh. It's fake.
OK.
I thought it was actually pulling data from Steam.

I'm not sure that's what he means

2:03 AM
uh i think thats right

that works

@Seadrus I will win

@quartata There was a workshop map for Portal 2 that did stuff like that - IIRC, it's basically a big one-way portal

o_o I already got an upvote i guess that waz u

2:08 AM
yup!
I've been stalking 'ya :3

Can someone give me some expert advice on something?

you know who's really good at giving expert advice? @AlexA.

Hahaha
Be careful

I'm scared.
I'm picking courses for Grade 12.

I am an expert on grade 12, having been through it a long time ago.

2:09 AM
So here's what I've got so far...

@Roujo Right, a trigger_teleport.

ahhh help I made a rectangle have invisible outline and fill in Inkscape and now I can't find it and I need it

I was mostly curious because I'm a Hammer mapper and I've tried to experiment with similar things in the past.
But it's really tricky.

> ahhh help I made a rectangle

"Hammer mapper" sounds awesome. :P

Q: Sequential Multiplication

SeadrusYour objective is to write a program that takes an input, and, when chained together N times, performs "sequential multiplication". What is sequential multiplication, you may ask? It's a sequence with a seed a defined as thus: f(0) = a f(n+1) = f(n)*(f(n)-1) So, let a = 5. Thus, f(0) = 5, f(1)...

English, Writer's Craft, French, World Issues, Native Studies (or Indigenous Issues in a Global Context), Law, and Computer Science.

@quartata Cool, then. ^^

I'm debating taking Advanced Functions for summer school, and then Calculus as an 8th course

I've never mapped with Hammer, so I didn't know that's how portals work ^^

Thoughts?

2:12 AM
@Zizouz212 I loved calculus.
Sounds like a pretty hefty course load.

Portals are actually their own entities, since they have a lot of complicated physics.

also I moved a thing once and it crashed Inkscape and now I'm too scared to move any other things which is a problem because I need to move things to do stuff

A trigger_teleport is available in all Source engine games

Just noticed: the o in "Duolingo" is the loading icon. That's quite clever, I think.

@AlexA. I think I'll be fine. Forgot to mention that World Issues is in French as well.

2:13 AM
BTW you should totally try Hammer out: it's very difficult to get started with but it's a lot of fun to work with and make little inventions with

@Zizouz212 Are you fluent in French?

@AlexA. Mais bien sur! Je suis en immersion...

So I finally got Marky's new brain in. It's a bit behind where the other one was, but I went ahead and swapped it over.

Wow Bing is shit

Bien sûr → Of course. Close enough.

He did leave the accent off of the u though

This semester I've got French SAP, English, Physics, and Grade 12 Data Management
@quartata I don't know how to do accents on this thing.

Are you on a Mac?

Yep.

2:15 AM
Hold the key

I usually cheat by copy-pasting the word into google translate and letting it fill the accents in for me.

@quartata Huh, right. That's actually more accurate this way.

Hold it?

û

eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee‌eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

2:15 AM
û

That doesn't do much.

Hold it until a menu shows up, then press the corresponding number

Whee German layout! :P

û
compose + ^ + u \o/

Wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee‌eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee‌eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee‌eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee‌eeeeee

Translate: Mais bien sûr
(from French) But of course

Should I even ask about the e spam?

@Roujo It means But of course! I'm in Immersion!
@Geobits I'm trying to get accents on this computer.

@VoteToClose Pulled.

2:17 AM
@Zizouz212 I know, I speak French as well ^^
@Geobits He's trying to get a menu to pop-up, to no avail

@Zizouz212 But of course -> mais oui

@Zizouz212 I'm pretty sure you don't get them by holding down the e key for seven seconds followed by enter ;)

@Geobits Nah, chat auto-inserts an enter.
But if I hold it down, I should expect some dialog-ish thing with accents, not repeated characters

Apparently, . :P
6

wait what:
@Doorknob sorry

2:20 AM
Ooh! Ooh! Ooh! I figured it out!
You have to hold down the Option key.
Nah, it's weird.

@Geobits On a Mac, that's how I get accented letters; I hold down the key and press a number.

Wow, macs sound even dumber than I thought ;)
3

ಠ_ಠ

I just use a keyboard layout that allows me to type accented letters ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

@Roujo Most of my things are English, and I don't tend to write a lot for French as often. Besides, I find the change in keys to be confusing.

@Geobits you're a little good, man.

@Dennis \o/

@Zizouz212 Yeah, I don't blame you - I've just been using Français (Canada) for as long as I've typed, so by now it's what works best for me ^^

There's a different solution: Option+e will produce é for me. ´ <- I need to type "e" there
It highlights it, but that's going to get annoying.
Eh, I guess it's better than trying to copy an accented letter that's really on a gif image that you found on google.

You could also learn alt-codes.
Wait, Mac, NEVERMIND.
3

Well, Option == Alt on Macs :)

2:33 AM
You could also use the compose key which actually makes sense

Option ≈ Alt

Wait, Mac, NEVERMIND.
3

But yeah, on Windows I know the alt codes

Why don't you just--
Wait, Mac, NEVERMIND.
2

alt+0233 would get me é

2:34 AM
see yeah typing "0233" to get é is something I would label as "does not make any sense whatsoever"

this was won pretty quickly:

@CᴏɴᴏʀO'Bʀɪᴇɴ I like bananas they taste good

@quartata yeah. "this was won pretty quickly"

Oh OK.
You linked to the Y answer so I was confused

2:35 AM
@Doorknob >_> what?

@CᴏɴᴏʀO'Bʀɪᴇɴ what's wrong with bananas?

@quartata yeah sorry that was the thing

@xnor why is the top half open interval difficult?

@Doorknob I just like avocads better

@Dennis How does your Jelly answer work?

2:35 AM
What's an avocad?

@xnor btw, with x < b <= y then [] would never be a valid output

I know of avocados :)

@Zizouz212 you have much to learn

@Zizouz212 delicious

if you like downvotes, sure

2:43 AM
@Seadrus ? Seriously?

why not?

@Seadrus It would have been closed before even getting an answer.

thats not nice :(

Way too broad for a popcon.

2:44 AM
ooh I just thought of something

@Seadrus It's true, albeit the tone it may have implied.

@Mego Nice!

I gotta go, good night!

Popping from an empty stack in Befunge results in a 0 right?

bye

2:45 AM
@quartata Yes.
Same behavior in Minkolang, intentionally.

Perfect.
except I don't remember how to get input
Guess I'll use Minkolang because I used that once

@Seadrus I thought you didn't want popcons to be on topic anymore

^

@AlexA. it was a joke

2:46 AM
What, proposing that they be off topic or saying you should make your challenge a popcon?

@AlexA. the latter. they really do suck

Oh, okay

2:47 AM
@El'endiaStarman OKAY.

were not "Programming Puzzles, Code Golf, and Art Contests" are we

@El'endiaStarman hahaha

oh duh

I guess it's a good thing nobody is forced to answer every question.
Personally, I don't like ASCII art. But, ya know, others do.

@Seadrus Not all popularity contests are art contests. Calvin's Hobbies in particular has made some very nice code-centric popcons.

2:48 AM
@AlexA. who?
i thougt that was a comic

why did that get a star
what is wrong with you people

@Seadrus Calvin and Hobbes? Pfft, no way...

@El'endiaStarman Lev(^,^^^) = 1

There is not one whit of similarity between their names.

2:50 AM
a... what?

I think your Lev function is broken.

@Geobits It must be because I tried it and I'm not levitating.

You can levitate in Stanley's Parable!

@AlexA. Did you call Wingardium first?

I think I've said this in here before, but
in Spanish class, we were learning about how to translate "to lift weights"
it's "levantar pesos"

2:51 AM
Hm, I don't think I can get this working in Minkolang.

@NathanMerrill why not "input on STDIN, output on STDOUT"?

also, it would lead to consistency between challenges
@Doorknob it is

@NathanMerrill I'm not sure what type of format you mean that would work with everything, though, unless you just mean something very simple like specifying a separator or similar.

Also, @Downgoat: Related?

@Zizouz212 Too good at it where? Is the 3.7k your highest?

My idea is that people only have to write functions to submit an answer to the KoTH, my controller will do everything else
(that said, I don't want to prevent those that want to do things through STDIN/STDOUT)

@Geobits Umm... It was a joke. But the highest for a site is 3.7k. And Jon Skeet has more Great Answer (Answer with +100) badges on SO then I have any badges network-wide.

2:59 AM
