9:18 PM
I can still access the online compiler via my trial license of 15 days :D

Online compiler for what, Mathematica?

10.2 up and running...

👍

@AlexA. No CJam, aditsu started a paid version of it with features much better than Pyth and I applied for a trial of 15 days.

How much is he charging?

9:20 PM
20 big dosas

That's pretty steep
I heard that Isaac is considering a paid version of Pyth that will cost only one samosa.

that's pretty cheap
given that samosa are usually cheaper than dosa

Especially one samosa versus 20 dosa
Big dosas, no less

now you can imagine how awesome CJam is

Yes, I will have to save up my dosas and convert to the paid version of CJam.

9:23 PM
oh no no no
That was just for the trial

How much does it cost for a full license?

20K
big dosas

Is it a one-time payment or do I have to give aditsu 20,000 big dosas every year?

1 time. thankfully

Yes, I could not afford that on a yearly basis.

9:25 PM
I couldn't even afford it on a one time basis
its roughly 9K USD
oh wait
i did not consider that its a big dosa

Woah, dosas are cheap

then its more than 25K USD now.

Regular dosa should be about Rs 50, right?

That's more like it

not really
average is around 30

9:28 PM
What about for big dosas?

its a guess, but around 70

What's an RS when it's at home?

RS 50

@Optimizer So like 21,000 USD for a full license!

9:29 PM
that is the indian currency
where dosas are sold

Ohh I thought that was INR

@AlexA. yeah, just a guess.
@BetaDecay yes, the R is Rs
do you know that $ is the D in USD?

:|
And the P in GBP is £

I thought it was dosa

no, US does not have dosa
enough already with your weird dosa fetish @AlexA.

9:32 PM
I have never had a dosa

explains a lot

Now I want bhindi masala.

god

@Optimizer What?
Do you not like okra?

I've just had a Chinese, so I can't be enticed by food

9:36 PM
A Chinese? it sounds like you just ate a Chinese person.

shhh... he is trying to be a pro cannibal, we should play along
@BetaDecay so how was it? Want to haev a Japanese next?

@Optimizer Nah, there are no Japanese restaurants nearby

you got a chinese in a chinese restaurant?

Chinese takeaway

wow. just wow. This is UK

9:39 PM
^ What I will eat later

Hmm baby back ribs

Aubergine

Aubergine?!

Yes

Anything with it or just on its own?

9:40 PM
@Optimizer He takes the Chinese away from their homes at night and eats them. That is what is meant by "Chinese takeaway" in the UK.
@BetaDecay It has a spicy sauce. Eat it with rice, perhaps some dumplings or whatever.

@AlexA. Hm the spicy sauce makes it appetising to me

Spicy garlic sauce.
Usually it has bell peppers, occasionally water chestnuts or snow peas.

Less appetising but still edible

Why less appetizing?

@BetaDecay to you, anything should be edible

9:43 PM
Anything or anyone

Garlic has a strong flavour

Yes it does. A good one at that.

And BTW in the UK we refer to them as just peppers
Not capiscum or bell peppers

I am not implying anything, but ... Vampires hate garlic
Just sayin'

Haha just throwing that out there
@BetaDecay That's too bad, because they're called bell peppers.

9:45 PM
I thought as a mod, you were supposed to be less.. confrontational and open :|

IKR, it was a serious mistake :P

Done
I wasn't sure whether to close vote or flag

It's gone.

9:48 PM
Poof

It's like it never existed.

I can still see it
you are not that powerful :P

How about now?

Ctrl Shift T

I have it bookmarked

9:49 PM
Pin Tab

@BetaDecay Why, @Optimizer What are you talking about
Confusion abounds

AFAIK, nothing is completely 100% nuked.

it still exists in my memories

9:51 PM
Those we can nuke

D:
Sounds like Total Recall

you can remove content, lock the post and then set a redirect for that question

If it's deleted then nothing else can be done to it except undeletion.

You can edit it can't you?

Oh yeah, I guess I can
I think anybody can

9:54 PM
Yeah, you can see everything I can do on the image

I don't think you can flag it once it's been deleted though, even though the button is still there.

What on earth would be the point of doing that?

What?

I have a really overzealous keyboard

Haha
What would be the point of doing what? Flagging after it's been deleted?

9:56 PM
Yep

I don't think there is a point, which is why I don't think it's possible

There's only one option when you click on it

Ohhhh
I think you can flag it for undeletion
Or since you have sufficient rep you can vote to undelete and you can flag for moderator attention

Oh I see. Makes sense
Hey @Calvin'sHobbies

Oy, @Calvin'sHob.

9:59 PM
Hmm?

Hello

Good evening/morning/afternoon

How are you

9:59 PM
How are your hobbies?

Are they Calvin's?

yes

Does anyone know

Know what?

Who knows

10:01 PM
Also you never answered me :P

How to look at all the edit-suggestion-panel-things on some wiki? Like a list of the panels that say "Master Qui-Gon, more to say, have you?" or "We're Doomed!" here and here.
I'm just curious as to what all the possible issues are (and their respective quotes)

I don't understand the question

Each issue has a quote from Star Wars
Calvin is wondering what each quote is

Yeah, basically

This is not my field of expertise.

10:04 PM
speaking of star wars, is it wise to by the Sphero BB toy?

Of course

its 150 USD

What is it?

Hm how big is it?

Nah, that's rather expensive

How would he get up stairs in real life?

Woah the exchange rate is 1 GBP to 1.5 USD. If only I was in America :D

what amazes me is the top bot, which incredibly balances it on top of the ball in almost any position

@BetaDecay When I was in the UK it was more like 1 GBP = 2 USD.

10:09 PM
@AlexA. :D
Bad for you, but good for us

Yeah, that was a crazy expensive trip.

I'm really curious about my wiki issue. Is there a SE where I could ask it?

There's an SE site all about wikis isn't there?

If it's about Star Wars quotes, there's Science Fiction & Fantasy.

It's more about wikis. Not really specific to star wars
There must be a metawiki page that lists all the issue topics

10:11 PM
Hm must be on Area 51
I can't find it

Anyway, give me two 3 digit numbers for a challenge

121
256

now someone else
Those are boring old squares

666
So metal \m/
Do I win?

@Calvin'sHobbies Never noticed that...
121's my favourite number

10:13 PM
@AlexA. We'll see

And 256 is always used

10:25 PM
random question: anyone know if there's a question here/source elsewhere for restricted-source competition tips? (Splitting up ASCII's got me pretty frustrated... :P)

What kind of tips are you after?

mostly general stuff, maybe like the hexadecimal escape trick I just figured out.
I say that because there's probably not enough traffic to drive a per-language question
like the code-golf tip ones

Hmm. I think a restricted source tip really depends on the language

Yeah, but I think a general restricted source tips question would be too broad.

Like the popularity contest question was originally

10:29 PM
@AlexA. just out of curiosity, why "too broad"?
(as opposed to, say, code-golf tips) Not that I disagree, just wondering

Because any useful tips will depend on specific questions. I don't think there many "general purpose" tips other than don't use whatever is restricted by the challenge.

hmm, that's a good point. Ah well thanks anyways :D

No problem. If you think of a way to phrase it into something directly answerable then it may be worth posting.

11:24 PM
So I want to do some metagolfing for Ziim. I thought I'd start by trying to find the fewest number of operations to form a (bit) string. The operations are "create {0}", "bitwise not" (destructive), "concatenate" (destructive) and "duplicate".
Without the duplication it's fairly trivial, but I feel like the duplication doesn't even allow dynamic programming. Say I've got a string of 16 bits and I know how to build the first 8 bits most efficiently and the last 8 bits as well. Now I can't just take those lists of commands and concatenate the results. Because by making use of both of them, I might be able to save a bunch of operations in one string by duplicating an intermediate result in the other.
I have no clue if there's still a way to tackle it with DP or similar, but currently I have no better idea than brute force. :/
@PeterTaylor ^ if anyone knows a solution off the top of their head, it's probably you ;)
