10:02 PM
added the bonus for 3 bytes

we already have a 4.5 score entry :P

I know
so?
should I stop golfing?
o.O

no. try harder!

that was a motivation for competetion
:P

10:04 PM
yeah I don't think it's possible

nooo don't give up
you want me to call Dennis ? :P

Pyth is the worst
lol
if he can beat 4.5 in CJam, I'll actually give him a bounty

he was having hard time coming up with a 20+ byte solution in CJam
which somehow involved reversing an array too
Do you think this challenge will be harder than the repeated numbers in array :
split the array on every second occurrence of an integer

"this challenge"?
oh okay
so [2 1 2 1 2 1 2 1 2] 1 -> [[2 1 2] [2 1 2] [2]]?

no
[[2 1] [] [2 1 2 1 2]]

10:08 PM
oh
interesting
definitely harder
but nice

yeah but not good for that hat :D
I will post this question tomorrow then, I want 1 question per day.

lol yeah

dunno Y I thought this would be easier
but I have a super nice name for it though. ;)

sounds like a job for j in CJam

memoed!
anyone ever used it ?

10:11 PM
yes
I think either Dennis or more likely user23013

oh! so you put it after a block and name that block and run it ?

I think it takes 3 parameters
and it's weird

definitely weird.

hello...

@MartinBüttner although I did get the 5 downvotes on closing question had.

A: Mixed Base Conversion

user23013CJam, 45 q~_,@m>0@{@(:T+@T*@+}/\;La{\)_@+@@md@@j@+}jp; Finally I found a good use of j. But this is slower than the program below. How it works Long ArrayList Block j executes the block which takes an integer as the parameter, and Long j will call this block recursively in the block. It will...

I knew it was one of my challenges.

can I get help for the question that got closed...

let me read it first
hm
I don't not a lot about ML, but a single image in the training set seems a bit too little.

no, I did a single image to keep it simple...
I could make it 2 or 3 images...

also, leaving the choice of images to the users leaves way too much leeway... people could basically pick close to identical pictures

well, I can't find much pictures..

10:20 PM
@TAbraham how would the size of the training set even affect the code size?
also, as it currently stands, I think return true will fulfil the requirements
as there is no requirement to say that non-cat pictures should not be recognised
I recommend you delete the challenge, and post it in the sandbox. people can give you feedback there and help polish the challenge.

@MartinBüttner I think that is what I have done..

@TAbraham he meant the code to be just return true
complete code, simply that

@Doorknob冰 should we kick off the weekly challenge challenge?
@Optimizer you've got more bronze than I have silver now ;)

yeah! :D

@Optimizer phew, that was close

10:34 PM
:D

10:45 PM
I've got 19 answers but only 10 upvotes o.O

11:06 PM
@Martin Sure, will do when I get home

11:18 PM
@Optimizer I still didn't get it...

@TAbraham A program which just always returns true (i.e. says "this image contains a cat face" regardless of the actual image) does fulfil the spec

@MartinBüttner Alright, I'm home. I'm starting to think that we should create a separate chatroom for this.

@Doorknob冰 I would say let's see how busy it gets

That way there's something to link to. Otherwise all the discussion isn't in a single place and is hard to find.

hm that's a good point
I'm afraid it will get somewhat ignored though

11:23 PM
We could pin it here

@MartinBüttner oh.. now I get it... I will edit it now..

@TAbraham again, I suggest you delete it for now and post in the sandbox. that gives people a better chance to give you feedback
@Doorknob冰 good point

@MartinBüttner ok... thanks..
@MartinBüttner will anybody actually look at all the ideas because it seems that there are 30 or more ideas and I can't think that some people really do look at each idea...

@TAbraham there are some 300, but people tend to sort by activity
@Doorknob冰 I was just about to type "oh god, how did you make that blue?" before I facepalmed

11:27 PM
heh

@TAbraham also, there's a bot that posts sandbox posts in here
@Doorknob冰 are you already making a placeholder sandbox post, or should I?

@MartinBüttner You can if you want. But maybe we should wait until we've decided what the challenge should be to do that. (I guess it doesn't really matter.)

I thought we could use the post to keep track of ideas until then

Okay, makes sense. Go ahead.

@Doorknob冰 do you really want to create a separate chatroom each week?

11:31 PM
@MartinBüttner It doesn't really matter; frozen rooms disappear from the "all rooms" list.

@MartinBüttner BTW, I was wondering, how does "return True" meet the criteria? I wrote "If there is a cat face in the picture, then the output should be true. Else, it should be False."

Do I have to use 2 browser tabs to be in 2 SE chatrooms?

@TAbraham But you only require to prove that with pictures that do contain cat faces.

it's bad enough that I can't put it into IRC client!

There are several chatrooms created per day for the sole purpose of discussions between two users (with the "move these comments to chat" thingy that appears when lots of comments are posted).

11:32 PM
@feersum You can switch between them in the sidebar (below the user list)
@Doorknob冰 fair point

@MartinBüttner ok I get it..

well that's worse...like loading a new page

@feersum yes
I've got the chat rooms I'm really active in pinned
(which is currently only this one)

^ I have those chat tabs open all the time. (Except for the weekly challenge one :P)

Martin BüttnerWeekly Challenge #1 - Audio Processing Join us in the Weekly Challenge Chat to work out the details of this challenge! [For now, this is just a placeholder post, which we can use to keep track of ideas. Ultimately, we can work on the spec in this post.]

hey look, my post on sandbox has come up...

11:49 PM
@Optimizer your upcoming challenge is a pain
