HK's nice enough for a short trip.
I'd like to try living there one day, but not sure the other half's into it. And cycling seems pretty dicey. Got a friend there who ended up under a bus (he's ok now).

saw many cyclists in thailand
they did not look very happy, because the roads are very dusty and traffic is funny

I see a story about a touring cyclist killed in Thailand far too often.

There's something weird about all living things in Thailand
flies sit on your hand, just in front of you welcoming to be killed
mosquitoes ignore you completely if you are not right on their way
dogs cross the road like it is not a busy road, but a generic walkway
and people ride bikes against the traffic without helmets
road cyclists looked far more prepared but with all things around happening like this it is just a question of time when a cyclist gets hit

Took durian candies to the office today.
A secretary is running around searching for a gas leak now.

@Rilakkuma I have never heard of durian candies, but can now guess their effect!
I have a friend who is half Thai. He used to scare me with his traffic stories.

@PeteH haha. Nope googled and picked at random. I'm a few 1000 kilometers away I'm afraid. The kind of country I'm in makes it hard to import things like fancy bikes, so sometimes the shopkeeper might also not know much. I'm meeting this one shop tomorrow, one of 3-4 in a city of 18 million that sell these kind of bikes ;)
@Batman ok, what about the chain-ring and derailer, they don't (or do) have to be removed/disassembled?

@gideon - sorry, for what?
oh for shipping a bike
no, you just need to remove the pedals
and it will fit in a standard bike box.
So the steps are basically, remove the wheels, remove the seatpost, remove the handlebars, remove the pedals and shove it in a bike box. You also may want to stick a spacer in the fork (you can get these from a bike shop). its not too hard, but you may want to just take it to a shop to do it for you since tehy can arrange pickups with UPS or fedex or whatever to ship the thing instead of you taking it to the depot
