@MarkTrapp can we get a migrate to WP.SE for this one?

http://programmers.stackexchange.com/questions/131483/using-microsift-word-outlook-for-content-publishing-to-wordpress

4:39 AM
@ThomasOwens Don't worry, I have a few questions! But I just started reading the nominations give me some time :)
@MarkTrapp Ha! that's a lie, and you know it... Trying to lure unsuspected victims, are we?

@WorldEngineer WordPress doesn't want it

2:15 PM
Good Morning.

Hello!

How are we today?

@tylerrrr07 All caught up in election fever!

@YannisRizos Running for mod?

@tylerrrr07 That I am...
@tylerrrr07 Have you checked the election page? Since you are new here, it will give you a quick overview of the philosophy of the site...

2:28 PM
@YannisRizos Checking it out now.
As to being new - I'm to the point where I feel I should really start to get involved in a community of like minded people and StackExchange seems to be one of the best I've found yet.

@tylerrrr07 Well Programmers.SE is a fantastic community - but ask me again after the election :P

@YannisRizos Haha. Question regarding chat - is there an easy way to reply without clicking the tiny little button in the bottom right of the message you want to reply to?

@tylerrrr07 Yes. Type @ and start typing the username, it a list of usernames active on chat will appear...

@YannisRizos perfect!

btw they are not the same thing. Both generate an inbox notification, but the arrow also links your response to that message... and of course you don't have to add the username when in an active conversation

2:33 PM
@YannisRizos I figured something like that from the syntax of the arrow reply.
@YannisRizos Thanks for clarifying
@YannisRizos I will say the only thing I'm not necessarily pleased with but can understand the reason for on SE is that reputation doesn't really go cross sites. For example I have done some stuff on StackOverflow but it doesn't count on Programmers.SE so I can't vote up, comment, etc.

@tylerrrr07 Well different communities... But it's pretty easy to get some rep, there are quite a few unanswered questions here...

@YannisRizos Yep. I definitely understand the reasoning and know it won't take me long to rep up across the sites I want to partake in. Just a minor grievance.

@tylerrrr07 One thing to remember, build some rep on either Programmers or StackOverflow before joining any other site. After a point (I don't remember the exact rep), when you join another site you start with 101 rep...

@YannisRizos Good to know. The only other one I have joined at this time is SharePoint as that's what I actually do in my job right now.

@tylerrrr07 It was 200 or 300 IIRC

@WorldEngineer Thanks for the clarification on that.

4:53 PM
For answers that turn out to be incorrect due to error on my part, should I delete them after the originator has pointed out a flaw in my logic?

user20683
5:14 PM
@tylerrrr07 is the answer totally wrong or can it be corrected?

user20683
if (answer = totallywrong) Answer.delete else Answer.edit

@WorldEngineer I misread something making it totally wrong, with more information I can still help the guy though so I'll comment on the original question instead of his response to my answer, and delete my original answer
@WorldEngineer Aww foo... I can't comment because I don't have enough rep. haha.
Would it be bad form to comment on my completely wrong answer asking for more info?

user20683
@tylerrrr07 it would be bad style, yes

I need more rep :(

5:42 PM
I think I managed to come up with the right answer without the need of more information... Deleted the old answer and posted a new one. Hopefully this does the trick and I get rep so I can comment XD

user20683
Ask a good question

user20683
that will get you some rep

@tylerrrr07 Nice first time answer! Keep them coming and you'll soon be able to do a lot more than comments...

Thanks!

And I think 200 is the threshold that Stack Exchange considers you an active participant, so it's logical that you get 101 rep when you join another site... But don't try it until you get to 300, just to be sure :)

5:46 PM
@WorldEngineer The questions I tend to come up with are the ones people don't have answers to. hehe

user20683
@YannisRizos you get it retroactively IIRC

user20683
@tylerrrr07 Obscure is acceptable, Broad is not

@WorldEngineer That I wouldn't know... I already had 500+ on SO when I came to Programmers...

@WorldEngineer social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/… just as an example of a question I had (Perhaps I should have tried sharepoint.SE instead!)

@WorldEngineer Any chance you reconsidered joining the race?

user20683
5:49 PM
@tylerrrr07 In relation to my answer for what does := mean? I am trying to figure out now what kind of keypunch Algol was designed for. It can't be the IBM 026 as it didn't have > but the 1964 029 did have it so it has to be either a model inbetween or a non-IBM system

user20683
@YannisRizos probably, I need to craft a campaign post

user20683
Physics homework gets first bill though

@WorldEngineer Well, I really don't want you as an opponent :P

@WorldEngineer Was that actually intended for me?

user20683
@tylerrrr07 it was an example of an obscure but probably good question as it had a massive impact on language design via the great compromise of Algol 58

5:51 PM
@WorldEngineer Gotcha

user20683
so I could ask the question or just do the research

user20683
since it's kind of minor trivia

user20683
6:05 PM
@maple_shaft I supplied 5th vote, that question on C++ has been moved

user20683
8:28 PM
@MarkTrapp well you got your wish, I'm running.

9:18 PM
@YannisRizos Think of me as more of a Basil II than an Alexios Komnenos

9:36 PM
@WorldEngineer Are you sure? Bulgarian users will not appreciate that... :)

10:29 PM
I can comment on SharePoint.SE! Oh Happy Day! :D
Oh I lied...

11:10 PM
@tylerrrr07 I think you need 50 rep, 4 more...
