@karthick87 Check the keyserver and see if you can find the key

@Seth the key is available there

Hm

have uploaded to keyserver.ubuntu.com and i can see it there

Contact support then: help.launchpad.net/Feedback

Thank you @Seth

6:11 PM
@edwinksl ;)

@JacobVlijm lol

6:23 PM
@Serg Indicator request incoming askubuntu.com/q/896515/367990
btw, @NathanOsman since when did one-color avatars become so popular?

@ByteCommander Serg and Jacob did it.
So I had to do it too.
You should try it.

Rather not...

Green, brown, yellow, and grey are unclaimed.
@ByteCommander You know you want to...

If anything, I'd probably take pitch black or blood red...

Red is fine.
Dooooo eeeeeet.

6:25 PM
nah

ಠ_ಠ

time to Go Green™?

wat
not SoyLent

Morris "Moe" Greene is a fictional character appearing in Mario Puzo's 1969 novel The Godfather and the 1972 movie of the same name. The character's name is a composite of real Las Vegas mobsters Moe Dalitz, or possibly Moe Sedway, and Gus Greenbaum. However, both Greene's character and personality are actually based on Bugsy Siegel: his affiliation with the mob in Los Angeles, his involvement in the development of Las Vegas, and his flamboyant tendencies. Greene is portrayed in the movie by Alex Rocco. == The GodfatherEdit == Moe Greene is introduced in The Godfather as a renowned Jewish mobster...

6:29 PM
nop

Go Green -> Moe Greene.

@terdon strangely enough, the sed you gave me worked perfectly

@Zacharee1 Nothing strange about it, the <<< was bound to leave the thing empty.

but why would it still copy the APK?
did it just give up when finding //.apk?

Dunno. Something was being set somewhere.
And no, //.apk is equivalent to /.apk.

6:33 PM
weird

$ ls //////////////////////home
lost+found  terdon

because if $IF_G5 == nulll, then the dest would be /system/priv-app//.apk

@Zacharee1 yes. That is indeed weird, but that's why you echo all the things.

@terdon when it's being run from a Java command, it's hard to find the output of a shell script :p
I guess it would be a good idea to actually output everything to a log file though

@Zacharee1 No. You echo stuff in the shell script. Just redirect to a log file. You know:
 echo "var \$variable is $variable" >> /tmp/mahlog

6:35 PM
yeah
what if I want to echo stderr too?
I forget the syntax
&>&2> ?

@Zacharee1 command 2>&1 >> logfile

ahg
thx

The &> is not portable.

idk shell

Ah, no hang on. The other way around:

6:38 PM
pls

command >> logfile 2>&1

so
#!/system/bin/sh

echo "$1" >> /data/media/0/Zacharee1Mods/privapp.log 2>&1

IF_G5=$$(printf '%s\n' "$1" | sed 's/G5//g')

mount -o rw,remount / >> /data/media/0/Zacharee1Mods/privapp.log 2>&1
mount -o rw,remount /system >> /data/media/0/Zacharee1Mods/privapp.log 2>&1

cp /data/media/0/Zacharee1Mods/"$1".apk /system/priv-app/"$IG_G5"/"$IF_G5".apk >> /data/media/0/Zacharee1Mods/privapp.log 2>&1
chmod 0644 /system/priv-app/"$IF_G5"/"$IF_G5".apk >> /data/media/0/Zacharee1Mods/privapp.log 2>&1

"I'm running Zorin OS on Ubuntu 16.04." Wat? askubuntu.com/q/896524/367990

@ByteCommander maybe the DE?
idk

@Zacharee1 why not removing the redirects inside the script and call the whole script with a redirect instead?

6:41 PM
@ByteCommander how
oh
the command itself?

of course

so sh ./script.sh argument >> /data/media/0/Zacharee1Mods/privapp.log 2>&1

alright
thx

no prob
that was easily earned karma

6:44 PM
heh
is there a way to echo the current date?
since I'm appending, if I ask for logs, it'd be good to have a timestamp

@Zacharee1 date

you mean $(date)?
:p
but does that also return the time?

it can

...
everyone refresh

Perfect.
Serg will be impressed.

6:56 PM
wow everything has a -v flag
ECHO ALL THE INPUTS

are my eyes bleeding? I think my eyes are bleeding.

You should have been here last night...

Ugh, the contrast hurts the eye

@ByteCommander do hot pink

As I said, if anything it would be pitch black.

@ByteCommander do it then

7:02 PM
As I said, nope.

I didn't recognize my own avatar, and I was like, "hey! I suggested the pink!" before I realized lol
@ByteCommander as I said, DO IT

Can you bribe me?

Q: How to fix this?

IvanAfter some gorgeous updates I witness this:

Give that some love.
The nvidia-367 package became a transitional to nvidia-375, which is buggy.
insert Linus middlefinger here

7:33 PM
@Seth Correction: Those who can, do. Those who can't, hold meetings.

@James hahaha, that too xD

@Seth BTW you got tweeted by the ChattyCapybara.

@James Aha, I wondered how you found that.
I hate cross origin errors. Seriously Dell?

8:18 PM
@NathanOsman - So I tried to compile ChronoSnap, and got 2,000 lines of errors from Gradle... paste.ubuntu.com/24242774
@Zacharee1 How come both you and NathanOsman changed your profile pics to solid colors?
@NathanOsman Never mind, I fixed the errors. I had to add

compileOptions {
sourceCompatibility JavaVersion.VERSION_1_7
targetCompatibility JavaVersion.VERSION_1_7
}

To the build.gradle

Ah.
2000 lines of errors. Wow :P
Usually compilers stop after the first few errors.

@JacobVlijm \o/
@Zacharee1 nathan has my colour already. Besides I feel like I can't change my avi... unless it's getting a hat

@Zacharee1 y u only 14.3k

pls

can't find anything to answer today anyways
I'm so tired... I randomly won some random standing long jump contest at the gym (probably I was the only one who actually agreed to do it)... the trainer called me and said "pop into the gym and get your prize"
I naively did so
it turned out the prize was a free training session
so I had to throw giant balls at the ground and spar with rubber tubes and do some kind of weird ribbon dance and crawl around on the floor with this woman yelling at me for ages
I'll be amazed if I can get out of bed tomorrow

If @Zacharee1 is a noob then I guess I haven't even begun my life yet.

pls

But on the bright side. If we have a "growth mindset" then the only place to go is up.
I don't really know what that means. Just some fancy term they like to throw around at work sometimes.

9:19 PM
one of my students (she's 8) is always talking about that too
it disturbs me because a lot of things have to stop growing right about now if we're all to survive on a finite planet
I was going to say growth of unicorn dollars migh be ok since they probably have a small carbon footprint, but then I thought about how many times a week I charge my laptop battery

Even unicorn dollars have growth issues
I know that all too well
Also, hullo peepl

hullo

9:34 PM
Can this get some VTC attention pls askubuntu.com/q/896560/367990

@Zanna your a teacher?

@ByteCommander duplicate would probably work better, no?

yo seth you are too fast for me

Hey @Zanna congratulations with the colored one!

lol thanks :D
I will resume normal services soon...
@TheXed yeah something like that :)

9:49 PM
@Zanna any further communications must come through a help desk ticket then seeing how I am a technology coordinator and everyone knows that it people and teachers can't effectively communicate any other way.

@Zanna Oh, wow !!! Yay, the #colorizeAskUbuntu movement is growing strongar !!!
Look at all the pretty colors !
Also, in other news. Yesterday morning was spring, at night it went back to winter with snow+rain+wind , and now back to early spring with more or less cloudy but still slightly windy weather. Typical Colorado

72 here.

cloudy with a 100% chance of rain between 6-7pm...
just got done taking the kids to the park...

10:08 PM
@Seth grrrrr

hmmm, I've a missed call from a very interesting number
555-444-2222
Iz diz mulder and scully tryin' to reach me @_@

American politics: promise benefits while ignoring economics, and then trying to rewrite the laws of economics when those promises fail.
HE'S SO RIGHT

Scully's cell number is 555-1013, I can't find Mulder's

@TheXed Well, some say it's warranty agents: whocalled.us/lookup/5554442222
Let me guess, FBI constantly gets junk emails to that address XD
Man, i wanna rewatch some X-files now

10:18 PM
@terdon @KazWolfe @NathanOsman another reason to TLS all the things: Keep as much data as possible out of the hands of evil ISPs.

Don't look at me. The version of NitroShare shipping in Zesty will fully support TLS.

Just referring back to our conversation earlier this week.

@Seth To be fair - shouldn't the correct response be to boycott ISPs that do this?

@NathanOsman That's not usually an option. Most of them either have monopolies or close to it.
No competition at my address, for example.

Ah.
So we need to create our own ISP then :P

10:21 PM
So for me it'd mean no internet.

...or VPN all the time.
(Which is not fun.)

@NathanOsman Not that easy. Now you have to create the infrastructure..

VPN for the win

Wow!! Seriously impressed with the speeds from @ProtonVPN thats maxed out my VDSL Speeds.... Create work guys! https://t.co/OQDK5jdhl3

@Seth Don't worry. I was kidding.

10:21 PM
It's coming :D

I run my own VPN.

@NathanOsman Really? I run three. :P

how do you guys do that?

general public might have no clue about VPN, although more and more people learn about it since Snowden's leaks

Puts on hat.
"I'm glad you asked."
So.

10:22 PM
shoots off @NathanOsman's hat with an air cannon

There is more than one way to do it.
But here's what I do.

Server on DO + openVPN ? @NathanOsman

Not quite.

I should have guessed . . . Nathan does everything in docker :3

Benefits: unlike regular OpenVPN - it manages certificates, keys, and generates configuration files for you.

10:23 PM
hosted on..?

Linode
(Cuz fast and cheaper.)

Linode + Docker you mean :)

Whatever :P

your hat, also, has a hole in it. Sorry.

Not bad.

10:25 PM
@Seth I do VPN with pfSense systems at remote locations, as well as here at my apartment. Though, my ISP doesn't lurk my network data because of an agreement between me, them, and the one place I work for :P
funny how cyber-security people get all the perks :P

no kidding

My biggest annoyance is that it doesn't work with IPv6.

i have a virtual pfSense at my parents' place too that I can VPN into with, then admin their network muahahahaha
@NathanOsman yeah, that's annoying, but i thought they were close to implementing?

It isn't even OpenVPN's fault. It's just that Docker and IPv6, well they... don't get along all that well yet.

Anyone want to see a very VERY ugly one-box?

10:26 PM
Closes eyes.

Q: SSH via Internet?

user222689My Computer in the School is in a intern Network, that haven't a Connection to Outside. How do i connect to it from my Home? Can I connect to it over a Website or something else?

@Seth How fun I use only Comodo / NameCheap certs :P
and my own CA locally internal

@Seth Holy TLS certificate batman!

10:28 PM
yup

That's a lot of certificates.
I expect Mozilla to do likewise shortly.

@Seth Hah. You guys are just seeing that. It made me giggle.

@RobotHumans Dude, I've assumed this for years lol. Finally, PROOF.

Haven't we all :)

lol, what's with the solid color avatars going on in here? xD

10:39 PM
Evidently I was out of the loop on the pi zero. Evidently you can just solder up a Male usb plug and tell it to act like a modem, and you get ethernet over USB. I wonder about a pi cluster now that's just a bunch of pi zeros on a powered usb hub plugged in to one rpi3.

@ThomasWard @NathanOsman one small question: can VPN be configured to route all the traffic from a router , or is VPN per-machine only ?

@Serg You can set up a VPN tunnel to tunnel all your traffic over a given route. It's very difficult to do and you end up with an almost Triple NAT situation behind your router, but it's doable. Normally you are using the same software on each side of the network, and usually it's with firewalls that can handle that kind of routing across the tunnel.
The other problem is that 'tunnel' usually assumes you have static IP endpoints
so if the IP changes you have to alter the tunnel configurations on both sides and reinitialize the tunnel.

Depends on your router, but it is doable. You could say, with a decent router, send all traffic not from vpn endpoint to the vpn endpoint. Then on the endpoint, route all incoming traffic through a some vpn interface. I did it once for video conferencing at a psych office, so the doc could see patients at 3 locations from 1 location.

you also have to consider throughput and the uplink

Q: I/O error after power failure, filesystem remounting as read-only - urgent

László DobóI have a production ESXI server with loads of VMs. I had a power outage a few hours ago that was so long my UPS's battery drained. The automatic shutdown mechanism wasn't working for some reason so the power was cut off for the whole system. After the outage everything came up, except the mysql ...

10:42 PM
hmm, ok

pls
Sorg install natans chatscrpt

@Zacharee1 wai

so we hav gren prple blu
in corcles

Also, where's that script ?

My router has a VPN option built in but I don't use it.

10:47 PM
and how do i install it ?

@NathanOsman hotbrick was a great cheap solution for that, but it had MTU bugs.

@Seth I would have done that if I was allowed to dupe on an unanswered question.

OK, I have installed something
what am i supposed to see now ?
Oh wow, I see colors

Yeah the room looks like the old TV color patterns when channel is off air :p

10:58 PM
Wheeeeeeeee, #colorizeAskUbuntu is success !

Hey @NathanOsman you here?
