Damn it, that's the sort of question that makes me hate the EOL being off topic rule. The OP is forced to use 10.04. The people who would best know how to help them work with that are here and yet we've decided that we don't want such questions.
Can't someone at least explain that the problem is the outdated repos or something, before closing?
@StackStatus Issue resolved. Problem only affected http://chat.meta.stackoverflow.com (http://chat.meta.stackexchange.com). Thank you for your patience.
"As you and khelwood already noticed, 0.4 cannot be exactly represented as a float. Why? It is two fifth (4/10 == 2/5) which does not have a finite binary fraction representation."

I was able to figure out the cause of this problem I was having Unable to boot Ubuntu 14.04. The X server is refusing a connection. I was able to boot by pressing shift continuously and I was able to boot but it does not open the graphics display of Ubuntu trusty.

@edwinksl seems I have a curse today that something works for me & everyone else but not for the OP - sorry for passing it on to you (thanks for adding the GUI method to that post +1 for that)

Hello, and welcome to Ask Ubuntu! It is unclear what you are trying to do here. Can you add to your question what you are trying to ultimately achieve, and what you're trying to do? If your question is how to build Debian packages from source code, you may need to review the Ubuntu Packaging Guide to understand how Debian packages work. — Thomas Ward ♦41 secs ago
it'd be "Unclear what you're asking"
not offtopic
@HenryWHHackv2.0 Case in point any of my historic questions about how to create packages or packaging-related things
though those're mostly in IRC logs now
And 16.04.1 just came out.... so direct upgrade is now supported. — Android Dev1 hour ago
@AndroidDev The upgrade path isn't opened yet. So direct upgrade without do-release-upgrade -d is not going to work. Hence why do-release-upgrade and teh GUI equivalents don't show 16.04 as an LTS-only upgrade target yet
