@xiaodongjie GREAT
deleted my answer :\

@A.B. thank you for your upvote.

@xiaodongjie For a good and working answer? Always =)

@A.B. always good. this answer. :)

kos
@A.B. Ok, I have a final version. I'll give you the link, test it when you want and let me know (I've disabled writing to /etc/apt/sources.list, this prints the list to STDOUT): paste.ubuntu.com/13525150
@xiaodongjie Which one?

1
A: /usr/bin/ld: cannot find -lX11

xiaodongjieI tried to build it, too. So I got same error. I found the reason why this error is occurred. -lX11 is not cflag(compile flag), it's a link flag. So this flag needs to be in link flags rather than cflags. https://cmake.org/cmake/help/v3.0/command/target_link_libraries.html Above page describe ...

10:18 AM
Final demo @A.B. @xiaodongjie @kos paste.ubuntu.com/13525156

kos
@xiaodongjie Indeed. +1. Was it between the compiler flags before?

-lX11 is not a compile flag.
compile flag is just related to define and header files and so on
not include library
and link flag is related to link library path and library name and so on.

kos
@xiaodongjie Yes, I know. But the problem was that that flag was passed to the compiler and not to the linker, right?

@kos yes, correct.

kos
@xiaodongjie That's why the order changed everything. Nice catch.

10:21 AM
@kos thank you.
@Serg the output looks good.

May I ask for a recommentdation: what's a good app for kids wanting to type some text? I am looking for something that kindergardeners can use to simply enjoy watching letters appear on a line, so they can have fun typing their names. Gedit is already "too much" because it asks to save, you can print, and whatnot. Tuxtype is "too much" because it expects certain input, not simply freeform. Basically a digital equivalent of scratch paper?

@A.B. Damn the duplicates. Sorry, I forgot that.

please look the script, @A.B. @Serg @kos

@A.B. @kos @xiaodongjie final version posted askubuntu.com/a/701273/295286 After this I am not editing the script. Done

10:31 AM
@Serg looks good. I already gave your answer an upvote.

@kos is your perl script coming up ?
Frankly , I am kind of dissatisfied with my script. I am used to AWK being able to process everything in couple of lines . . .In this case, however, it requires multiple functions, for multiple cases . . .
I'm sure one could do something in AWK . . .I don't think i have brain power for that though

@kos @Serg @xiaodongjie Are you so busy working on the thing from @A.B. that there is no time left to even say hello to me ? ... don't burn your brains ! =)

@xiaodongjie Hello :)

10:38 AM
@A.B. or don't you like python?
@cl-netbox nice

kos
@A.B. Hopefully this is the last time I fix it, I shouldn't have missed anything: paste.ubuntu.com/13525236
@cl-netbox o/

@kos Hello :)

kos
@Serg As soon as A.B. approves it, I want to be sure it works like he's asking

@xiaodongjie There is a missing line

@A.B. O_O wat . . .

10:40 AM
deb archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu trusty-security main universe is missing

@Serg Hello sir ! :)

kos
@A.B. How about you give us an example input / output? That way at least we don't stress you every five minutes

@A.B. oh, i see.

@cl-netbox hi ! sorry, i keep burning my brains out

kos
@A.B. I mean a single file we can meld to see if the output differes

10:41 AM
Lets go into the other chat @Serg @kos @xiaodongjie

@Serg please ... DON'T !!! :)

@cl-netbox yes, thank you.

10:47 AM
@cl-netbox so what's new with you buddy ?

@Serg Oh I'm fine ... did some new answers ... and ... still ... I am waiting for ... :) and what about you ?

@cl-netbox had thanksgiving dinner with parents, and just keep on working on AB's stuff .. .Oh, and my laptop started working

@Serg was it nice with your parents ? ... was the lappy damaged ?

1 hour later…

@ParanoidPanda send it to smoke detector

user136984
@Serg: Does that actually do any good?

@cl-netbox sorry for the delay. It was a nice short dinner. My family isn't that tender , so we just ate together, and then everybody left to do their own business. My laptop stopped registering my SSD some days ago, i was considering to buy a new one, but today it started working all of a sudden
And it wasn't ssd problem, but actually laptop motherboard
weird as balls

user136984
@Serg: Meat balls?

@Serg hmmm ... does not sound good ... maybe mainboard is dying soon ...

@ParanoidPanda don't make me hungry, it's 4 am here O_O and i need to sleep as soon as i post my dang script

user136984
11:56 AM
Ok :D

user136984
So still nobody has any idea about this? :)

user136984
@terdon: And you still think I'm bonkers? :P

user136984
@Serg: How come my message with the spam to smokedetector got deleted? Was that automatic or a mod deciding to delete it?

@ParanoidPanda That's the god's will
Sorry , mistyped g for m
mods will
:D am I right ? @fossfreedom

@ParanoidPanda that was me...

Oli
12:02 PM
@ParanoidPanda We tend to delete post alert messages once we've dealt with them to save other people re-checking something that has already been dealt with.

user136984
@Serg: The mods want you to know that they are gods by making you type g instead of m. :P

we tend to delete links from here to spam questions - google has a habit of remembering search from chat and therefore spam links show up in search.

Oli
That too

user136984
Right.

12:16 PM
@ParanoidPanda Yup, and that question only confirms my belief. :P

user136984
@terdon: What is the difference between hair and fur?

In what way?

user136984
I don't know, any way really... Because I hear that some dogs have hair rather than fur and that is why people with fur allergies get them instead. And as I never really knew there was such a difference, I am wondering what it is.

@ParanoidPanda scientific they are the same
and fur is denser than hair. That is the only disticntion I believe

12:25 PM
Er
There's a difference.

user136984
@fossfreedom: Under which message is my Nathan script icon by the way?

user136984
@JourneymanGeek: Ok, what is it then?

good question.

Oli
@Rinzwind Wow, two years apart and I post almost exactly the same answer.

(I have no idea... so now I feel stupid)

user136984
12:27 PM
Is there an appropriate SE site where I can ask?

@JourneymanGeek that should be it. mammals can have hair or fur so it is not just humans hair versus animal fur.

user136984
:D

@ParanoidPanda askanaturalist.com/… quick google ;-)
@Oli I am marking that answer as plagiarism :=D

Oli
@ParanoidPanda There is Biology.SE.

user136984
@Rinzwind: Aren't those the naked people?

Oli
12:29 PM
@ParanoidPanda If anybody's going to know about fur and hair, it's naked people.

Q: What is the difference between hair and fur?

Paranoid PandaI have heard many people say that there is a difference between hair and fur, though they have never stated this difference, but have said that people who have fur allergies who want a dog will have to get one with hair rather than fur, so there must be a different between hair and fur then, what...

12:50 PM
@ParanoidPanda Fur is thicker so has a bigger chance on containing stuff in it that gives allergic reactions.

move this to Stackoverflow or remain here? askubuntu.com/questions/703154/…

user136984
@Rinzwind: What makes hair not as thick? Is fur just hair that is positioned closer to other hair?

Bob
@ParanoidPanda :D

@fossfreedom SO, I think. It's not a tiny little script and it isn't in any way for a syadminish task. I'd send it over.

thanks.

Oli
1:03 PM
@fossfreedom I'd say it's development on Ubuntu (with Ubuntu bits)...

@ParanoidPanda The biology site also expects you to do some research before posting. At least try duckduckgo.com/?q=fur+vs+hair

:)
too late - moved

@Bob: Why are you such a fat fox?

user136984

@ParanoidPanda :(

Oli
Not fat, just floofy

user136984
Aww... But I love fat things! :D

user136984
They're cute, and cuddly, and FAT and squishy!!!

user136984
@Oli: This one isn't. :P

Oli

user136984
How is that not fat too? :D

@Oli looks dead to me :=D

user136984

He's probably pining for the fjords

user136984
@terdon: And you're telling me that you think the Pythons weren't a tiny bit bonkers? :D

@ParanoidPanda I most certainly do not! They were and are absolutely stark raving mad. Maaaaaaaaad. Mmmmmmmmmmmmmaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaddddddddddddd.

user136984

@Oli Why would anyone want to stop being silly?

Oli
@hbdgaf Takes longer to get places mostly.
Oh, and giant feet.

1:57 PM
Yanno what they say about men with giant feet....

user136984
@hbdgaf: I can't see images except for the ones on i.stack.imgur.com, so if you want me to see it, you'll have to post it on there.

(they are forever stubbing their toes on things)

Does this make sense?
Please edit and add that information to your question. It looks like the problem is that the Host *onion rules aren't applied when you use node1. Maybe because the expansion occurs after applying the rules and since node1 doesn't match *.onion before expanding, the rules aren't applied. I'm only guessing though. — terdon 21 secs ago

user136984
@JourneymanGeek: Are you a man with giant feet? And is there a joke I'm missing? :D

@ParanoidPanda: Clearly I'm a dog, and yes.

There's an urban myth that men with big feet are big elsewhere ;p

user136984
Also, I hadn't heard that before...

Oli
@ParanoidPanda I'm aware what they are... I've had one all my life.

user136984

Lets totally end it with that

It was
Its a running joke with a friend of mine

user136984
Ok, how on Earth did this conversation start?! :D

@ParanoidPanda it was a ministry of silly walks reference.
@JourneymanGeek +1 for the big feet reference.

user136984
:D

hey today is black friday!

Yep. The day people trample other people to get deals on new crap the day after being thankful for what they already have.

user136984
Plus it originated from the times of slavery where they were selling other things... The name is the clue.

@ParanoidPanda No derp. It's because most of the year, retailers operate in the red. This is the day that their annual budget hits the black (positive equity for the year)

user136984
@hbdgaf: Well, there seems to be some disagreement on that, some people say what you say, some people say other things, and some people say what I just said. I don't know the actual origin, but this is all I have heard.

@ParanoidPanda What are you on about?
Black Friday is the day following Thanksgiving Day in the United States (the fourth Thursday of November). Since the early 2000s, it has been regarded as the beginning of the Christmas shopping season in the US, and most major retailers open very early (and more recently during overnight hours) and offer promotional sales. Black Friday is not an official holiday, but California and some other states observe "The Day After Thanksgiving" as a holiday for state government employees, sometimes in lieu of another federal holiday such as Columbus Day. Many non-retail employees and schools have bo...
Read the section on origin. It has nothing to do with slavery.

user136984
@terdon: That's what I read online and was taught at school...

@ParanoidPanda Some people also say the Earth is flat.

user136984
2:31 PM
I don't know, I think it's all rather confusing, I wish people would make their minds about history.

See this snopes article as well:
@ParanoidPanda People usually have. You just need to learn to do some research before posting.
Sound familiar? :P
Oh come on, who flagged that?

Oli
That's outrageous.

I like snopes for debunking specific things, but not for verifying anything.

user136984
I went somewhere else for a moment (to listen to that silly song), what did I miss?

For example, where I worked, salaried management annual bonus is calculated at the end of October. So, they get judged on the lean part of the year right before crazy buying starts. So, it makes sense to me.

user136984
2:36 PM
@Oli: What's outrageous?

Oli
@ParanoidPanda Having a message flagged (and removed) for saying "penile" in context. Well. Penis, vagina, breasts and bottoms is what I think to that.

user136984
@Oli: Who deleted it?

Oli
Somebody in here and then somebody else who upheld the flag.

Yeah, wasn't me. Somebody is being an ass.

This is why we can't have nice things :(

user136984
2:40 PM
Well, I did tell you guys a while ago that the chat flag and rules system was a little unfair...

@JourneymanGeek - the dog is working out well. It doesn't like its pillow/bed though. It prefers my coat.

@hbdgaf heh, that needs a bit of training

user136984
@Oli: I'm no longer allowed to post big momma, are you now not allowed to talk about penises? :P

@JourneymanGeek It's well trained. It's going for the me smell

i'm new here :)

@Oli What? I dismissed it, I must not have been fast enough.

And I also hope that nobody flags that up... :P

Flagged and tagged.

user136984
2:49 PM
@jokerdino: You can't fool me! I'm 10k+ in chat! :P

@hbdgaf The link I posted was a Snopes debunking of any link between Black Friday and slavery.
> The use of "Black Friday" as a descriptor for the day after Thanksgiving has nothing to do with the selling of slaves, though, and the term didn't originate until nearly a century after the practice of slavery was abolished in the U.S.

@jokerdino Then gagged and bagged ;) but no. You're supposed to be an adult to be here anyway.

> The earliest known use of "Black Friday" in such a context stems from 1951 and referred to the practice of workers calling in sick on the day after Thanksgiving in order to have four consecutive days off (because that day was not yet commonly offered as a paid day off by employers):

@ParanoidPanda if I really flagged, you won't be here replying to me.

user136984
:D

2:50 PM
@hbdgaf I wish. Tell that to all the teens who hang out here ;P

@terdon I'm agreeing with it. There was a reference to the as late as 1981 there was the initial financial reference. Which is what I think makes the most sense.

In fact, I think some of our mods aren't adults. Despite their consistently failing to act their age and displaying more maturity than most people of twice their years.

@hbdgaf I was this close to saying that but this blue name sometimes curtails a bit of freedom.

@jokerdino Were you an adult when you became a mod?

Nope.
I was maybe 18 or 19.
So, young adult maybe?

2:52 PM
:)
That's a teenager, kid.

Stop making me feel old @terdon

user136984
So is there a minimum age for a moderator to be?

Yeah, I've been in this room for a good 5 years now.

If I want these headphones to work I have to face the window with my head slightly tilted so that my right ear is touching my shoulder... Otherwise they won't work... I also have to keep the wire bent in a certain place where it doesn't want to bend... :D
