@Seth Am now. Posted an answer. The mint backup tool is pretty neat but very straightforward. It just copies files or creates a tgz archive. Nothing fancy. It will work on any Linux. The cool features are about exporting/restoring package selections, not file backup.
@Seth someone told the OP to post on U&L so they crossposted. Since I answered the one here, I closed the one on U&L. However, the one here is on its way to being closed (despite being on topic, what is it with AU people and not reading questions?), could you keep an eye on it so both don't end up closed?

@terdon I would debate its on-topicness.. how would know about a mint tool that isn't in the repos? Not that I'm going to close it or anything. And yeah, I suggested the question might be better off on U&L but I didn't mean for them to repost it.. Oh well.
Bumped it out of the close queue anyway.
The votes were for "unclear" what the..
Thanks for the answer!

@Seth Are you sure it's not? Don't forget that Ubuntu can use Mint's repos. In any case, the question is "Can I use tool X on Ubuntu" so I don't see how it isn't on topic.
@Seth np :)
I've never used the thing either, I just had a look at the format it produces.

@terdon Yes, I checked. IMO the question is more about what format the Mint tool uses rather then if it will work in Ubuntu.. I dunno. Like I said, I'm not going to close it because it's very borderline and I don't care.

Heh, that last being the operative point. Fair enough.

;)
I don't see a need nor a use for the close happiness that has appeared on this site recently. If it is about Ubuntu and it got a good answer I'm usually cool.

Q: Radeon HD 4850 drivers

TheXSo I am trying to get Beyond Earth to load correctly, currently it just comes to a black screen with a mouse cursor, I suspect it to be a driver issue. I have tried installing FGLRX and then Ubuntu won't work. When I try to install the catalyst drivers from ATI it tells me to install FGLRX, if ...

@Seth Even though I don't care, I'm not on board as a cantankerous closeboater

@Toroidal sorry, I was out doing some things and missed your messages.
Did you still have any questions or were you able to figure everything out?
