10:00 PM
I'm curious, what issue with flash?
I found that most of my flash wonkiness was due to chromium watchdogging tabs and pepper being cycles hungry in heavily tabbed instances, but if I broke the flash tab out to a different window - everything goes not choppy any more.
it shouldn't work, but it does.

I was using chrome, was/am having issues with flash/shockwave crashing computer. I decided to go to chromium with pepper, still same issue. I don't use flash with iceweasel (on Debian) so I don't have the same issue.
FF was doing the same as well

what site was it crashing on? and are you using heavy tabs?

anything with any social media links.. sometimes things like memebase, or blogs. It didn't matter how many tabs. I have had 1 open, and 5. It's the shockwave and flash
I would pre-load htop to sigterm on my tty, when it starts going slow I would switch to htop (because if I had to log in it wouldn't work). If I didn't do it fast enough I had to REISUB

i found that flash crashes a lot when different sites use the same javascript that interacts with flash. it feels like a memory allocator/deallocator bug where flash tries to say "I'll be efficient and only use one instance of each particular script", but the browser says "I'm in a separate tab. I need a different memory blob for this". So when one tab frees a script, flash frees it. Then another tab references it and KABOOM. But I haven't observed this in a debugger.

Ctrl Alt Backspace doesnt work either

10:06 PM
oh you mean it crashes your box not it crashes your flash plugin?

crashes whole computer

sounds like a heat issue to me. my video card on my old laptop would cause that type of thing. nvidia just hard-locked and ati kernel panic-ed.

where is that log? what command

it might be in dmesg somewhere

I looked through errors on a diff question for debian. I even tried to increase swappiness (which I didn't need to do at all I guess)

10:08 PM
overheating on the vid card, swap wouldn't help

I am hitting high cpu usage too

again, heat

hmm.. are there tools. or is that a mobo/firmware thing?
it's a mobile ivybridge gpu (netbook)

again HEAT

i got you @hbdgaf I just was wondering if you knew of any tools to analyze it :)

10:11 PM
i'm sure there's a way to watchdog processes and kill ones that pass a particular CPU threshold... but it would take tuning to make sure it doesn't kill processes prematurely

there is an audio one.. I have it on debian.. i need to remember the name
totally forgot about it

wouldn't fix gpu related issues. would fix cpu heat/cycle-pillaging issues.

yeah i will look for a thermometer program maybe
as well

psutil could probably tell you that if you wanted to script it.

Q: Why iperf still reports 1Gbps performance when using bonding over two 1Gbps adapters?

MainMaAs I understand it, bonding brings among other benefits the ability to increase the network speed between two machines in a LAN. Bonding [...] means combining several network interfaces (NICs) to a single link, providing either high-availability, load-balancing, maximum throughput, or a combi...

10:14 PM
@NoTime do you know the tolerances for your card and cpu on temperature?

@hbdgaf no but I can look it up I am sure

I or you could make a temperature widget for your desktop to display space within tolerance... so you could see a bar on your desktop that is indicating 50%, 75%, holy crap temperatures.

@Whaaaaaat Did you ever get your server back online?

@RPiAwesomeness Yes. I brought it down again though. Stupid EULA

10:22 PM
So I am not finding this as easy as I thought @hbdgaf I am running currently at 65 C (145F) that seems extremely hot to me

@hbdgaf I have a server rack in my closet.

@NoTime that's cpu?

yes
psensor

CPUs without any fans/coolers will spontaneously explode.

I need a full system control.. wonder if anything is in motherboard to make fans go fast
I have to check some stuff out..

10:26 PM
There are utilities to overspin fans or not listen. I have acpi turned off though, and most of them use acpi. That is where you should be looking though.

10:38 PM
@NoTime what processor

sup @Mateo

@MAteo nice link... wish I'd taken a look before building

11:17 PM
yeah, the other thing you have to make sure the heat doesn't heat up the hard drive and other parts
Otherwise it seems the i-core processors run hotter normally

@Whaaaaaat EULA? Uh oh, did you get in trouble w. your provider?

Hi @hbdgaf back from eating

@RPiAwesomeness My own server in my closet. The mojang eula. servers can't really make money anymore.
@RPiAwesomeness Yes. I violated MY OWN hosting EULA.

11:49 PM
@Whaaaaaat: not entirely true, there's processors that run cool enough to be fan/heatsinkless
they tend to suck tho
