12:10 AM
@NoTime I modified to README to be more clear
long time without see you around btw :)
Hope to see you more!
@Richard you're welcome richard!
I hope you find it useful as my friends did :D
if you think that you can improve it, any pull req will be welcome!

@Lucio looks cool!

thanks! I appreciate it :)
The hard part was how to tell people what is it for

bet that would be handy with renaming a variable in code, or a function
@Lucio it's like a find/replace for all files in a folder right?

exactly
it is a Find&Replace
like you said it

like that you built in a backup

12:23 AM
yep
just for fun :P
@Mateo the code is pretty much clear, that was my main goal (I hope others find it that way)
The thing of Find and Replace is that I would be lying, it does not find anything, it doesn't have a find feature, just the replace one. That's why I didn't called like that

@hbdgaf Umm, should I point out that if you use balefire you might destroy the whole pattern?

@Lucio well, find | replace?

mmm.. I don't get your point :/

@Lucio thanks, I had a hectic schedule (still kinda do) hopefully I can be on a bit more

hectic, my new word :)

12:32 AM
heh, do you have the link again for your program

it is on the star wall

I only have one star on my wall... netbook :(

oh, tiny screen. Sorry, here you go

Cool I see that seems better
The readme does

thanks to you for the feedback

12:38 AM
@Lucio so what do I do to add it? copy sh and add to /bin

I dind't think on the deploy yet :/
alias rch=./your/path/to/the/script.sh
:D
sudo apt-get install rch
:P
that would be neat

I forgot where to add in bin.. I added my rename program to my permanent aliases

@Lucio bash.rc?

yeah think thats it

I just finished it last night thinking that in a couple of hours I was going to work
so.. sorry, but not deployment yet :(

12:43 AM
@Lucio read then add to readme (in relation to this answer) askubuntu.com/questions/17536/…
use alias in the bashrc

okeydogy

like I added alias pyname="python3 ~/pyname/pyrename.py" for mine so all i do is type my pyname.. but you have triggers not sure how that works
need to add a downloadable would be nice (it downloads as HTML) but its fine to copy pasta

@chaskes - destroying THAT pattern would be ideal.

12:59 AM
@Lucio ok so in the alias you need to add
**alias rch="sh ~/Public/rch.sh"** (or whatever path to the rch.sh) after:
**if [ -f ~/.bash_aliases ]; then
. ~/.bash_aliases
fi**

I know, I know.. testing it

it worked for me :)

hehe great!
yep, worked for me too
thank you!

I don't need to add the triggers to the alias
np
You might be able to make a permanent thing in another way
Im going to see if there is any answer on UL

gotta go

1:05 AM
ok later

aw the system is down

ROM :P

yea, back ;)

1:52 AM
funny thing, kali bug tracker doesn't give a shit if your password is '123'
it doesn't give a shit about accounts neither expiration

@Lucio I don't know if this matters but for:
# Adding the coolest Find and Replace tool
alias rch=/path/to/the/script/rch.sh

I am not sure if you need double quotes around path or not (I had to add sh before the path too), suggested edit would be:

# Adding the coolest Find and Replace tool
alias rch="sh /path/to/the/script/rch.sh"
This is getting really polished though and it looks good (now you have to make it your pet and add 20 tools for it :)
I'm off for tonight though

@NoTime I'm not so sure neither. It worked for me that way :/
maybe it is because I added the bash thing in the first line
@NoTime ok, thanks a lot for everything!
have a good night :)
I'm also out. Ciao everyone!

two people on MSE chat says that it's exists.
in Tavern on the Meta on Meta Stack Exchange Chat, 3 mins ago, by Doorknob
People keeps saying this doesn't exist... :/ It must be A/B testing; that would explain why some people seem to just not see it

@AvinashRaj give me that power and ALL questions will get closed >:D

kernel bug https://lkml.org/lkml/2014/7/30/548

Attention +Ubuntu users of the +Intel NUC ... If you upgrade to the latest Ubuntu 14.04 Trusty kernel, 3.13.0-32.57, and try to cold boot the system with USB devices attached (a keyboard+mouse in my case), you may render your system unbootable (http://j.mp/1twu9HD).

If this happens, you will probably need to hard power off, hold down the left Shift button while booting to enter Grub, select Advanced boot options, and choose an older kernel.

Huge thanks to the irrepressible +Joseph Salisbury who help me bisect the offending +Linux commit (

Q: Appropriate tag for locally-hosted webapp / web interface?

d3vidI previously tagged my question about locally-hosted web interfaces with localhost (since that's what you'd use to access them), but that tag was removed. I think that although uncommon, this interface is enough of a phenomenon that it justifies tagging in some way. Any suggestions?

@oli ooooooooooooooh it was YOU he is talking about :=)

Oli
@Rinzwind Yeah I think so. Or he doesn't understand how the moderation works and he's talking about the other person he was arguing with in comments under his question. Either way, I don't think I've been too evil.

1:42 PM
Yeah typical response ... "I don't think I've been too evil." moderarors ...
lol

lol
Oli was nowhere near involved in this matter though.

oh you want a 2 against 1 fight? puts on gloves

Oli
Yeah I just hosed everybody down afterwards.

Anyone here know what this means:
MS-CHAP authentication failed: M->XM-^X
Can't connect to a vpn from Ubuntu :P never seen that error before

2:13 PM
I will refrain from the sarcastic comment I was about to make.

Well, MS-CHAP does look suspicious.

Q: Sometimes Ctrl+Enter works, sometimes not

TimWhen you edit a post you can press Ctrl+Enter to save and finish (same as sending an email on gmail). This works in a couple of other places, but not when you are submitting a question or answer, you have to physically click the button. Is this a bug or feature by design?

Q: In the latest Google Chrome, KBD looks wrong

TimI have just downloaded the latest stable chrome, from the official website, and installed it. I then restarted chrome. Now to me kbd elements look like the old style like this: It is not happening on other sites - is this how they have always looked here and I've never noticed?

@ThatBrazilianGuy and @PrasadRD Thanks!

@Dan I think you meant we?

@Seth Can I blame it on autocorrect?

I'm still trying to figure out how I mixed when with we. I'm not thinking straight today.

5:36 PM
Oh, @Lucio Idea! Maybe make a "test" mode for your program that will report back what would be replaced in each file - maybe copy the orginials to backup do the substitutions on the backup and report a diff?
Oh this is cool Ubuntu + Nokia GPS betanews.com/2014/07/30/…

6:38 PM
hey that's cool.

Why is there a bounty on the keyboard shortcuts post now? meta.stackexchange.com/questions/237166/…

shrug.
You'd have to ask the user who placed the bounty.

8:17 PM
@Tim "One or more of the answers is exemplary and worthy of an additional bounty." that means he liked one of the answers... which one that is we will have to wait till he awards
but for now the question is more visible because of it as well

oooh, there's an asus transformer refurb on tiger for 199... that could be a neat toy.
2
i already have a nexus7 though. so just a heads up if anyone feels like playing with a transformer
on a funnier note, a windows 8.1 license on newegg is 119. so just saying :)

hm, If I got something like that I would probably replace the os, but I'm good on this netbook
they were going to recycle it because of windows 7 starter...

i wasn't thinking of using windows on that particular device. i was thinking sysprep it and move the image to different hardware. then have a linux toy.

keep an image around for vm's?

something like that. just getting a known legit install for whatever reason. and paying for it. then getting a 200-400 piece of toy hardware for 80.
i'm totally fine with my existing hardware for those types of purposes though. it's just something i thought someone else might want. so i put it out there.

Its a really good price, If I was looking would probably jump on it

Q: Installed Linux, now Windows doesn't boot anymore

user1170330I had a working Windows 8.1 which I used regularly. Today I needed Linux, so I chose Ubuntu and installed it from a bootable flash drive alongside Windows. is that a good phrase or should I use something else?

well, it's not a good phrase. could be "life experiences", but it depends on the whole sentence

oh yeah, that one is better
I want to express something like this:
You grow up after go through a lot of life experiences

Q: Running MySQL in a Docker container

JamesStewySo my ultimate end goal is to run a MySQL Docker container (say tutum/mysql from the public registry) and then link a Gitlab Docker container (say sameersbn/gitlab) to it where both containers use persistent storage. We get older naturally, but we only grow up after going through some important life experiences (could also be singular: experience)
