@AvinashRaj No. The OP has used unetbootin, but unetbootin often has issues, I would recommend using a different tool.
Also, you might want to expand on that answer if you keep it there. At least give a link to unetbootin and explain how to use it. As it is, that answer is more of a comment than an answer. In any case though, the OP has a "new laptop" so it's probably UEFI and he will have all sorts of other problems.
I am using Ubuntu 13.10 with Unity desktop. Unfortunately I am not able to log into my desktop. After entering correct password it keeps looping back to login.
Could you please help me to sort out this problem? I need help because I have important data in my laptop and I don't want to reinstall ...
@Venki I tried the conky by the way, I had a different problem on 13.10 (no transparancy) but found a workaround. I did not see the issue you describe though
The user I am talking about: balpha ♦
He has neither ever asked any question nor has he ever provided any answer on Ask Ubuntu. So, how does he have 100 rep. After association bonus, the rep count should be 101. Where did that unit rep go?
Bug, maybe?
@Venki Yeah, but that's normal. You are using a conky that takes up almost your whole desktop and giving it window_type override. The transparency works, otherwise the conky background would be black
hmmm.. Well I suppose i will have that AU question.. 2 more days only for 14.04 release..hope nobody will mark it as off topic.. BTW if someone marks a question off topic will the asker lose rep?
@Venki You might also want to clarify what the problem is exactly, I only just noticed the boxes you have at the end of text fields, for example, and I had not noticed the icon.
@Venki No, there will be no way to have both a working desktop and accessible icons and conky as a layer above that. That's why we usually don't have conkky take up the entire screen.
The theme author's page states this as well I think
@Venki OK, that's clearer. You don't have a transparency issue though, that's as good as it gets.
There are workarounds but they depend on using the window manager to make conky's window transparent. That's a whole different thing. Try googling "conky true transparency" or something.

@Rinzwind Manually select dependencies? Come on! I had to manually select packages, yes (I still miss that, I kind of like it) but RPMs bring in their own deps just like debs do.
@Venki OK, the boxes only appear for me in unity and I can't figure out why. Those things tend to be printed when a font has no glyph to display a particular character but in this case, it's something returned by conky itself (${swapfree} for example). I don't have this issue on Cinnamon
@terdon Well BBL after 14.04 release update. Will try the conky after that and get back to you about that problem. Bye till then. Have an exam on 19/4/14(shit!) Gotta read all night!! Byeee!!! :-D(Well not so happy to post :-D. But anyways :-) )
After installation mount manger software, upon restarting ubuntu won't boot up . It hangs on boot splash screen and doesn't move further. I have duel boot running in this computer so, I can boot and working from windows but ubuntu not working .
Firstly I am beginner ubuntu user, so if you plea...
There seems to be a lot of that going around in that part of the country. Heck NC gets snow like every ten or fifteen years... and we got it 4 times this year. I wonder what hurricane season is going to be like :|
