11:00 AM
I'm doing alright... Woke up 15 minutes early for some reason (3:30 instead of 3:45). Working on coding in seconds arithmetic and learning new stuff in bash.

@WinEunuuchs2Unix wow 3.30 ... that is a very early time to get out of bed ... aren't you still tired ? :)

You wake up at 3am?

Good morning terdon ! :)

o/

@terdon My alarm is set for 3:45am but I woke up before it at 3:30am.

11:16 AM
Yes, I was asking why you would wake up at such a time. I take it your job starts very, very early?

@WinEunuuchs2Unix At such times I might still be awake, but already? Nooooooonono.

@ByteCommander I'm actually coding Your Question on how to set display brightness based on sunrise and sunset :p

And you need to get up before sunrise in for that? o.O

I just completed the step of putting current setting into systray which should have been the final step but I already had the code for lock screen timer setup there so I put this step first.

just kidding, don't take me seriously. I'm still brain-dead from my exams

11:26 AM
I get up at 3:45 am every day so I can have lots of coffee and watch news before heading off to work at 6 am.

you can't be human
or me

Patching the code proved to make it ugly. Next indicator project I'll have to rewrite it to concatenate strings:
#!/bin/bash

text-spinner

Spinner=$(cat /tmp/last-text-spinner) # read last text spinner used
MInutes=$(cat /tmp/lock-screen-timer-remaining)
Brightness=$(cat /tmp/display-current-brightness)

if [[ $Minutes != "" ]] ; then
if [[ $Brightness != "" ]] ; then
echo " $Spinner Lock screen in: $Minutes Brightness: $Brightness)"
else
echo " $Spinner Lock screen in: $Minutes Brightness: OFF)"
fi
elif [[ $Brightness != "" ]] ; then
echo "Lock screen: OFF Brightness: $Brightness"
else
echo "Lock screen: OFF Brightness: OFF"

11:41 AM
Just saw that you awarded the bounty ... thank you very much again @Thijser ! :)

@muru this is not a dupe at all. The OP wants to be prompted for a password even when already logged in as root. The one you closed against is asking for a way to use sudo rm instead of rm when not logged in as root. None of the answers there would help the OP.

HA @Zanna I finally could flag a spam post successfully before smokey ate it ... hahaha ... good morning to you ! :)

I got it too @cl-netbox! morning to you too

@Zanna Thank you ! :)

@terdon O.o the other doesn't mention sudo at all, but in either case the root problem is the same: bunch of friends have access to the account, and are running rm
Well, not friends, exactly.

11:49 AM
@muru No, the OP is specifically running as root. And still wants to be prompted for a password.
It's an absurd request based on a misconception, but it isn't answered by anything in the dupe.
None of the solutions there will prompt for a password if already running as root.

I'm sorely tempted to copy most of @ThomasWard's answer in that case.

Yeah, I quite agree that the question itself makes little sense. You can't have your cake and eat it too.

I want cake

^^^ vegetarian carrot cake :p

@WinEunuuchs2Unix they can : tomato cake for example ... (called pizza in Italy) ! :D

11:55 AM
I'm making oatmeal cookies... not really the same but still quite good

@muru good point about pam. I didn't know you could configure it to ask even root for a password when running su. Cool.
    # Password matches?
    if [[ $PASSWORD != "WE2U" ]]; then
        echo "Invalid password!"
        exit 1
    fi # password entered was wrong.
@WinEunuuchs2Unix ^^ "WE2U" ?

Also: ${@:1}? $@ starts from $1 unless you use ${@:0}

That is going to be in HNQs I feel

12:11 PM
Closed questions get kicked off HNQ, I wonder if closed & reopened ones can get into the HNQ
I hope they can't

@SmokeDetector everything in that post is zero voted :/

Reject before it gets robo-reviewed: askubuntu.com/review/suggested-edits/683693
@Zanna probably didn't meet the threshold

@muru done, thanks for paying attention

@terdon Password can be anything. WE2U is simply acronym of my screen name.
@muru Please paste @:1 as comment under code I'll look at it after work tonight. I have to start making lunch now though :(

@WinEunuuchs2Unix Um. So you mean the password should be stored, unencrypted, in the script?

12:19 PM
I hear some kittens screaming in pain...

@WinEunuuchs2Unix isn't that a given?

@muru yeah I just mean, the whole post is there languishing with no votes

Whoops, my bad, you only use $fullname to check the depth. Never mind.

read password ; if test "$(sha512sum <<< "$password" | grep -o '^\w*')" == "04fab15f392f4c0978768f00c57dd701306286a46b0fd01b482ac7187aebf89d620a52353d8d492f8ddb6cf70ff4e8a55956fa20f63ad1d791c53007c790a76f" ; then echo correct ; else echo nope ; fi

That ^^

12:36 PM
Guess the password and you win a prize.

WE2U?

No. I tried that one :P

sigh

@muru WE2U = WinEunuuchsToUnix :)

@WinEunuuchs2Unix I know, I was guessing the passsword :P

12:46 PM
wasted 2 hours on an error I thought I made that was an error coming from another site :P

@WinEunuuchs2Unix you might want to at least remove the first part of you reposted script which checks the depth of the target. That's not relevant to the new question.
But please fix the whole password in plaintext thing.

@terdon I didn't see any point of encrypting a password within an un-encrypted script. Besides I forgot my password when I ran rm a month later and had to look into script to see it :p. The point of rm and dd wrappers was to protect the system from myself, not strangers or "friends".

@WinEunuuchs2Unix Yes, but that's not the point of the OP. Having a script with the password included is completely pointless as a security precaution.

Q: Keyboard with custom keys

Jason IveyMany computer and gaming enthusiasts use special keyboards. One common feature on these keyboards is many custom keys that are meant to be bound to special command specific to games and software. The software for editing and creating commands that these custom keys trigger is almost always in w...

will this: zip -urv /tmp/misc/apk/somefile.apk ./res/drawable/* copy everything from ./res/drawable/ into somefile.apk/res/drawable/?

12:49 PM
And there's no reason to encrypt the script. Only the password. Use @ByteCommander's suggestion above, for example. First get the hash by running sha512sum <<< "password" and then, in your script, compare what is provided with the hash.
@Zacharee1 How can we possibly know without knowing what $1 is, what ui_printcopy is or what {ZIP} is?

how about that?

Yes, I think it would. Try it and see :)

alright
I need to stop derping.....
I modified the wrong function
I thought cp was supposed to create directories if they didn't exist

@terdon Agreed it doesn't provide security to anyone that knows how to spell Linus. anyway sorry for delays in responses as I was showering, making lunch, and doing dishes, Have to run to work now... Have a good day / night everyone :)

1:11 PM
Gah, it's just having no effect at all
It's not adding anything to the apk
Wow, LG's high contrast mode kicks in really early

2:01 PM
OK
Why is this cd command failing?
cd /tmp/misc/xml-mod/ 2>&1 | ui_print || ui_print "RIP"

Why do you need a redirect for cd?

because that's the only way I can see the output
ui_print() {
  if [ -n "$1"  ];
  then
    printf "ui_print %s\nui_print\n" "$1" >> /proc/self/fd/"$OUTFD"
    printf "$1\n" >> /zoutput.txt
  else
    # classical way of reading stuff in shell
    # this defaults to stdin
    while IFS=  read -r line
    do
        printf "ui_print %s\nui_print\n" "$line" >> /proc/self/fd/"$OUTFD"
        printf "$line\n" >> /zoutput.txt
    done
    # this stuff is to ensure
    [ -n "$line" ] && echo "$line"
  fi
  # printf "ui_print %1\n" "$1" >> /proc/self/fd/"$OUTFD"
that's the print function
Serg wrote it for me, so I could see the output of commands in TWRP
so I guess cd can't accept the 2>&1 argument?
because it looks like it didn't fail this time
and it worked!
alrighty then
@Serg I've hidden your selfie in my APK lol

2:17 PM
@Zacharee1 the one with the pipe?

I put it in to see if it would be added to the APK and forgot to take it out
so now one of my ZIPs has an easter egg if flashed
"No one expects the Ukrainian Selfie"

it should perform a jumpscare

lol

Yeah, like that wonderful giraffe optical illusion, remember that?
The one where a giraffe appears if you stare at the image long enough?
user image

You can do the same with Serg!

Q: Low Quality Posts review chokes when I run out of delete votes

ZannaMost days I run out of delete votes somewhere in the middle of the Low Quality Posts queue. I have noticed what seems to me to be a (minor) bug here. with only one "n" I think it's likely to get pronounced the way southerners say it anyway "zahna" instead of my northern commoner way. But here nobody is saying my name, so, it's unimportant

I thoight you meant southern US :p
zänna

It would be cool to meet up and hear everyone's accents :D
Yeah the prompt root for password Q is in HNQs

Well....survived the night...

@Zanna sigh.

2:51 PM
@muru -.- I've seen worse. At least it has a good answer...

HNQ = Harry No Quality

@terdon neat :D

@Zanna it does? I don't see it. Mine is essentially giving the user just enough rope to hang themselves. Where's @ThomasWard? He should copy his answer from the other post soon...

@Zanna Innit? Somebody posted that in the ELU room.

7 200s in Feb, and now March starts with one. Nice :D

2:55 PM
@cl-netbox I think I am done trying to explain to OP in that question. UGH! askubuntu.com/q/888504/231142
@cl-netbox How are you by the way? :)

@muru idk his timezone, maybe he's asleep

@Terrance I am fine thanks ! :)
@Terrance Good answer ? :)

@cl-netbox Good to hear! Going to check them out. :)
@cl-netbox yep, it shows what to do. +1 from me. =)

@Zanna sigh, now you made me stalk him. Apparently PA, US.

@Terrance Thank you very much Terrance ! :) How are you doing ? :)

2:58 PM
OOps, gotta give my dog her shots.
@cl-netbox I am good. Gotta run here for a bit. I will be back later. =)

@Terrance See you later then ... :)

@muru he usually shows up some time in the UTC early evening and resolves all my flags.
time to go to work :/
later all :)

I wonder if I should make some of these flashable ZIPs just SH scripts to be run while the phone is on.
Most don't need a reboot
I need to write an app...

3:53 PM
@ByteCommander @Terrance Thanks again for your contribution ! :) I have updated the answer and included a reference to the information you gave in your comments -> askubuntu.com/questions/888504/… ! :)

Hey, congrats all on Skype for Linux Beta!
<just popped in to say this>

Skype? Congrats?
Condolences would fit it better...

Nice nickname/avatar though :)

4:09 PM
@ByteCommander :D starred ! :)

@ByteCommander Thanks! At least they haven't completely forgotten about Linux. I consider that an achievement :)

Yes, but... I'd like to forget about Skype :P

@ByteCommander I already did a long time ago ... they record (and sell) everything they consider to be interesting nowadays ... by the way, did you see this -> news.softpedia.com/news/… ? :)

Nope, but nice.
I understand that some people don't like unifying everything though.

4:31 PM
What is that dark shadow on the top right ? Looks like a big fat panda ... Hello, Hello ... is there anybody out there ? Is it you @ParanoidPanda ? :D

4:44 PM
@ByteCommander Yes. I'm one of them. I hate it with a passion. I feel that in the attempt to get one interface to be functional across devices, you end up with an interface that isn't really functional on any device instead.

How could we ever forget the pestilential hamburger incident ;-D

:)

so.... interesting news, somebody tried to use my credit card in florida
somebody attempted to use up 160$ on a gas station
card was promptly blocked, though, and canceled so all safe

5:06 PM
@Serg I had the same thing happen about a month ago but the person was in Chicago...
But what where they buying for $160 at a gas station?

user136984
5:17 PM
@cl-netbox: Ah yes! It is I! Can't you smell all of the chocolate cake? ;D

user136984
Actually, I'm on a diet...

user136984
A cake free one... :P

@ParanoidPanda It's all over my place already ... the whole flat smells like a big chocolate factory ! :D

user136984

@ParanoidPanda Hope you will survive it ! :D

user136984
My fingers slipped. :D

@TheXed heck if I know and I don't exactly care. I'm just glad it didn't get any worse. In my father's case in December, somebody charged up to 500$
But if I had to guess probably gas, tons of snacks/food, and smokes

@Serg yeah I don't really care...but one has to ask, what the hell cost $160 at a gas station...

@ParanoidPanda Do I need to remind you of this incident?

Depugging complete. Now, don't start with French bulldogs!

user136984
:D

5:31 PM
@terdon How do you find old posts of you so fast ? :D

Well, it's easy when I know they contain a very uncommon "word" such as depugging :)

....Real story, once in an email of mine instead of "please your reaction", "please your erection"

Well, at least the latter is grammatically correct. You can't have it all.

Hmm. Make that semantically correct.

user136984
5:34 PM
Facepalm... Oh dear... @JacobVlijm :D

It was in Dutch ...

Hey @Zanna What's that ? You killed a question which had an accepted answer from me ... Why that ? Not very nice ...

user136984
And do they look the same in Dutch?

@JacobVlijm Ah :)

...It was to get funding for something. Got it nevertheless...

5:35 PM
@cl-netbox How did she "kill it"?

user136984
@Serg: Why do you always say things like that? :D

@terdon With a shotgun...

@terdon Please look at it -> askubuntu.com/questions/757339/…

@cl-netbox I see. I have to say I think the deletion is 100% correct.
That was really not a good question for the site.

Wait, what ? Since when questions that have accepted answer can be deleted ?
In the past even moderators couldn't delete questions which had accepted answers, iirc

5:38 PM
eh, we can delete them

@terdon Many others are not too ... then we should stop answering questions from newbies at all ... that makes no fun ...

You even admit that "question" doesn't meet the Ask Ubuntu guideline.

@cl-netbox No, but we have certain guidelines and questions or answers that don't fit these guidelines are deleted. This has always been the case. That someone has answered an off topic question is not a reason to keep it.

And I think it's not fair to isolate one person when there were 3 people who cast their delete votes.

Yep.

5:41 PM
@terdon maybe ... that thing is nearly one year old ... I am not amused ...
@jokerdino did they do it all together at the same time ?

@cl-netbox Neither am I. Not only did you answer a blatantly off topic question, you then complain when it was deleted correctly and even single out a specific user.
@cl-netbox No. Muru voted first, then Zanna and then chaskes.

user136984
@cl-netbox: Did you receive the 5 messages I just sent you?

So you could have been particularly annoyed at Muru for starting it, or at chaskes for finishing it. Zanna's vote, as the middle one, was the least disruptive to you.

user136984
Because it's strange...

user136984
Some of my contacts have disappeared.

user136984
5:43 PM
And it's showing you as offline.

user136984
It's not done this before.

In any case, their action was absolutely correct. Yours was borderline. I can understand wanting to answer so you can help the newbie out. However, that you are now objecting to the deletion despite the fact that the newbie was helped (and thanked you) suggests you object to the loss of 15 rep you really shouldn't have gotten in the first place.
If you want to answer off topic questions to help users, then don't complain if they are later deleted to keep the site clean and on topic.

@ParanoidPanda today ?

user136984
@cl-netbox: Yes

user136984
In the other chat we have.

5:46 PM
@ParanoidPanda I received one

user136984
When I go to your profile now it just says restricted.

user136984
Can you just try and message me now?

@ParanoidPanda works perfectly with other contacts

user136984
This is also affecting my other contacts, but not their contacts, it seems just to be me...

@ParanoidPanda doesn't work ... issue is on your side

5:48 PM
@TheXed so I was looking at ATM and gas station card skimmers, those things are practically indistinguishable from real ones

user136984
What happens if you try to send me a message?

I've a suspicion that me or my mom encountered one of those things somewhere, most likely on gas station

@terdon I have seen other users (don't wanna name them this time for a reason) who did the same many times ... and if this would have been their answer I am very sure nobody would have deleted them.

@Serg yeah they are...that is why I always pay inside if it is an option, and never use ATM's....
even though my wife thinks I am nuts...

@ParanoidPanda I get told : message not delivered ... although you are shown online (green button)

5:52 PM
@TheXed well, to be perfectly honest, with us being IT professionals , we might be nuts indeed but we have a point . . .

@cl-netbox The same what? Voting to delete an off topic question? Answering an off topic question? Or answering an off topic question, then singling out one of the voters and complaining that the action was unfair because they lost rep?

@Serg right, some of us have to be smarter then the peasants anyways...

@terdon answering those kind of questions

Well, if you see it again, please vote to close. Or to delete, if you see it already closed.
And I very much doubt any of the people who voted to delete even saw that it was answered. The answer is completely irrelevant and you have to scroll down to see it.
In any case, if anyone chose not to delete something just because of the person who had answered it, they are misusing the site.

user136984
@cl-netbox: That's really quite strange... Well, I hope that like with most of these issues, with a short time, maybe a day, it will go away by itself.

5:55 PM
You should never care about who posted what. Only about what was posted.
11

user136984
I've never had an issue with it last for more than a day.

user136984
I can't remember, when are new GNOME releases released?

user136984
I think it is soon.

@terdon SHOULD ... yes ... but are other users robots ? We are humans ... and I am not a stupid kid ... I see exactly how different members are treated ... there are users that get several upvotes in seconds for everything whatever they write ... is that normal ? The problem seems to be that I always clearly say what I think (not as some others who pretend to do everything ONLY just for the site) ...

Well, you're not being very clear now. If you see abusive behavior, please let the mods know. But, as you said, you are not a kid so please don't use arguments like "but they do it too!".

user136984
6:05 PM
@cl-netbox: I guess we can use Gitter for the time being. :)

@terdon And it was NOT for the rep ... I lost much much much more already as you can remember ... did I complain ? NO ! Even though I was personally attacked in a "not very friendly" and in a completely unprofessional way ! You should please take it into consideration.
@ParanoidPanda yes we can of course ... but please check your Google account settings and your browser

You might recall I was not a mod at the time, so I wasn't involved in any of the cleanup. Nor do I see the relevance. You answered a question that was delete-worthy, the question was deleted, you lost 15 rep. Everything worked as intended. What is it that you are disagreeing with?
Should the users not have voted to delete a crappy question just because you had posted an answer?
Is that really the kind of site you want? Where if you are popular and liked, your answers are never deleted even when they should be?

user136984
@cl-netbox: Yes, it's probably just something changed because I wiped all my cookies. I don't know, there is an air around me which for some reason causes everything to break. If I can't see anything breaking yet then I get worried, because it means I don't know what has broken yet or something bad is yet to come. :P

Isn't that precisely what you just said was the case with "some users"?
It sounds like you're fine with the idea of some users being treated differently as long as you are one of them. I'm sure that can't be what you mean to say.
So either it is wrong that some users are treated differently (which it is, and AFAIK doesn't even happen), in which case, you shouldn't complain when you are also treated just like any other user, or it is not wrong and you think it is OK to not vote against things that your friends wrote.
If you do think it's OK not to downvote or delete something just because it was written by someone you like, then I am afraid you have seriously misunderstood how the site works.
If, on the other hand, you feel that some people are not downvoting/voting to delete things that should be dvoted/deleted just because they were posted by friends, then please flag and let the mods know. This is absolutely against the rules.
We even deleted an answer posted by Jeff Atwood himself for crying out loud! If he doesn't get preferential treatment, who does?
^^ proof (>10k only)

@terdon No definitely not ... and you know that I appreciate your work extremely ... and I like you personally very much ... but you seem to not understand me ... I am trying to express something generally ... please forget the story of that deleted question.

6:16 PM
Does that mean if I only have 18 down votes registered and 1100 upvotes

@cl-netbox So do I, but that doesn't mean I won't downvote your question if it's wrong. And I hope you would downvote mine as well.

I'm not negative enough,?

@terdon Do you mean me ?

Yes

@terdon No I would never ever give you a DV ... I only downvote extreme rude posts ... I hate negativity

6:18 PM
@cl-netbox Well that's wrong. You should downvote wrong posts and flag rude ones.
If you don't downvote, the whole site is useless.

@terdon so question. . . .is there any formal way of showing that a person knows perl ?

@terdon Instead of a DV I write a comment or improve the post myself ... that provides positive motivation

@Serg No idea.
@cl-netbox You can provide both. Motivation is fine, but in the meantime there's a wrong answer with a positive score which somebody might think is correct.

would be nice.to have something that shows a certain level of.competence in a programming language

@terdon I experienced something else : I got DVs and improved the posts ... instead of un-DV and an upvote nothing happened ... you are an exception !

6:22 PM
I find it helpful if someone down votes one of my answers because it registers a red flag for me and I can delete it quickly.

@cl-netbox Yes, so have I. Many times. You can't expect people to always come back and check. But downvoting is absolutely essential since it is the only way we can show that answers are wrong.

@terdon that's a point ! But the same should be valid for upvotes - right ?

Of course.

@terdon anyway ... next time I better stay calm here ... we should have a private locked room where I could discuss what I mean with you personally.

OK.

6:34 PM
@terdon OK ? So it is possible to create such a room for the two of us where nobody else can see what I say ?

Q: Change Ubuntu 1604 IO scheduler on AWS?

Howard ShaneI am using a VM from AWS, Ubuntu 1604. The tricky thing is that I am not able to change the block device's IO scheduler in this way: root@ip-10-0-96-236:/home/ubuntu# cat /sys/block/xvdb/queue/scheduler none root@ip-10-0-96-236:/home/ubuntu# echo noop > /sys/block/xvdb/queue/scheduler root@ip-1...

It is possible to create private rooms, yes. Other mods also have access, however.

@terdon I trust you, so when I feel the necessity I will ask you :)

Sure, that's part of what mods are supposed to do.

@terdon mods are elected ... trusting someone is something very different

@Zanna It would have been nice if an AU moderator had jumped at my side when I was badly attacked here in this chat room some longer time ago, just a little tiny bit in the way they do it when you are mentioned (which of course is not your fault) ... @terdon was not a mod at that time, @jokerdino was ... not one of the mods said a word, only @Serg raised concerns. I am only saying this because I like you very much (as I said many times) and want you to understand my way of "seeing things". :)
@ParanoidPanda Please urgently check your settings ... I am not even able to delete the undelivered messages I sent you ... I tested it with other contacts ... everything works as expected there. :)

Do I smell... DRAMA?!

@KazWolfe hahaha ... no ... panda messed up his Google account and / or his browser :D

user136984
Is that a cinnamon caramel dip I smell in my hair? :D

user136984
@cl-netbox: No, I checked, and all seems fine there.

@cl-netbox no. something about deletion.
Wait... @ParanoidPanda uses Google?

user136984
7:46 PM
I can't imagine my browser would prevent you from sending a message.

That's extremely ironic lol

@ParanoidPanda then try to send me one

user136984
@KazWolfe: I am switching to ProtonMail, but it's just taking a little while.

oh, now that i have you here, i'd like to challenge a decision you made :P

user136984
@cl-netbox: I have sent you many.

7:47 PM
@ParanoidPanda I am using it as alternative mail ... works fine

Might I suggest you give the checkmark to the other guy? @ParanoidPanda -- askubuntu.com/questions/866564/…
his answer, after all, actually shows what really happens.

user136984
@cl-netbox: The problem is with some sites they are linked to Gmail's login and don't want to unlink for some reason and make me a normal account on their site. So it's just taking a little while with that.

@ParanoidPanda you can't use proton for logins ... you can use it as additional mail service

user136984
@cl-netbox: I know, I am trying to make the accounts using Gmail for the login into normal accounts on those sites so that they won't rely on anything anymore but a username and password.

user136984
Perhaps PM will have an OpenID system at some point though.

user136984
7:50 PM
Perhaps not though.

@ParanoidPanda no

@ParanoidPanda i think that goes against the idea of protonmail

user136984
LavaBit is also good. I heard they are starting up again.

user136984
@KazWolfe: Yes, come to think of it, there might be some technicalities in the way.

@ParanoidPanda please repair your gmail stuff first

7:52 PM
so yeah... I really do think the other user deserves that checkmark more than I do, but it's not my call.
(plus, by moving the checkmark i get a badge so...)

user136984
@KazWolfe The reason I didn't accept the other answer is because as you will see with many in the comments for it, I could never verify it as I never actually found anything like that in the logs. Also, they are wrong about each one being built into the kernel, that's just not the case.

user136984
It would have to be a third-party tool they have installed, but all the additional leap seconds for the next 100 years or so aren't built into the kernel.

@KazWolfe gone

@ThomasWard ty

7:57 PM
@ThomasWard gone ? evil and madness ? :D

you don't have Discord by any chance do you @cl-netbox ?

oh no...

@Zanna @terdon @cl-netbox I'm going to put down just my two cents on the whole issue that's going on with the deleted question. Know that I've better things to deal with, and as of late it often seems that each and every individual has their own firm opinion on how to manage AU, so feel free to ignore this message and skip. #1, question indeed was crappy, something I would vote as off-topic/too broad. #2, I don't like that a question with accepted answer can be deleted.(to be continued . . .)

@ThomasWard Discord ?

Thomas, we talked about this. No more inviting people into the Cult of Darkness.

Once it has accept, it should be locked and done
