:)

@jokerdino Link is broken.

yeah, I deleted it.

What was "it"?

it was your edit on OP's additional information added in a new answer.
Just flag and don't edit the content.

And what was worng with that?
Okay
Could I get some undelete votes? askubuntu.com/a/766932/518562
That was an old thing that I only saw now.

user136984
6:11 PM
How exactly do I sign something with gpg when I have two sets of keys?

user139252
You have to select which key to use, and you have to make sure that the key you select is in your Launchpad account.

user136984
How do you select which key to use in Terminal?

@ParanoidPanda gpg -u <key nr> --clearsign

@AndroidDev yeah

@AndroidDev look at the questions of this user askubuntu.com/users/553984/temiloluwa-adesina @seth may want to have a look too, he posted today the exact same question he posted one or two days ago

user136984
6:15 PM
@Videonauth: key nr?

type in gpg --list-keys
you will see something like this then
pub   4096R/6092693E 2011-09-23
uid Greg Kroah-Hartman (Linux kernel stable release signing key) <greg@kroah.com>
sub   4096R/76D54749 2011-09-23
the upper number behind the / is your key nr so in this case 6092693E

user136984
Ah, you mean the key ID... What is nr?

number id isnt it the same ?

user136984
Oh right, sorry, just didn't know what it stood for. :)

user136984
Anyway, thanks! :)

6:20 PM
np

user136984
Oh, it says that they key is not available... :(

which key is not avaiable ?

user136984
It says it skipped it because the secret key is not available.

check if you not have a duplicate somewhere in the list

user136984
I don't, I only have two sets.

6:24 PM
--list-keys or --list-secret-keys respectively

user136984
The list secret keys option outputs nothing...

Q: How would I make this script more efficient?

Nicholas AdamouI am writing a script that will systematically install Numix theme using gnome-tweak-tool. I want to make sure that I don't reinstall items if they are already installed, so I used which [name of item] > /dev/null. Here is my current script: function installNumix() { echo "Checking if Nu...

user136984
I generated my keys through the GUI Passwords and Keys tool.

user136984
I have browser software which can sign email contents, if I just paste the file in plain text into an email and ask it to sign do you think that will work?

not sure

user136984
6:30 PM
Well, I think it's at least worth a try, but why do you think it's not working the usual way?

but for sure something in your key db is wrong when it prints you that error
i had something similar as i had the secret of an old key i revoked in the secret key list
and it failed then to find the new generated entry

user136984
Ok, well, I'll probably post a question about it later, but I got it working with the browser tool so I've signed the UCoC now. :)

user136984
Nope, that acronym still looks rude...

@Seth Thx. It is not within your power to mark as accepted, right?

nope.

6:38 PM
@Seth - <sigh> It's not even that I want the rep. I just want it to be marked as accepted :)
(No I'm not saying I don't like getting rep BTW)
@SeverusTux Yep, that's why I left the comment I did....

user136984
Right, LP is all sorted out now...

user136984
So now to start on writing the speech. :)

Q: Can reviewers review suggested edits more than 20 times?

anonymous2I thought you aren't able to perform more than 20 reviews of one sort per day. But in http://askubuntu.com/review/suggested-edits/stats, it looks like Videonauth has reviewed 21. Is that possible? Here's a screenshot.

6:54 PM
@anonymous2 that easy to explain, i has my 20 full and then someone edited my own answer on a post and you always can review the edits on your posts, there it does not matter if you have your 20 full already, i even has already days with 23 reviews

Okay, I get it now. Your grammar, though... :)
I got my first SILVER!!

sighs well i could write German then my grammar would fit better tho :p

I'm kidding, it's fine.
Why isn't my newest badge showing up?

this takes a while

What? It's gone! No!
Oh, I have to be patient?
It was a moderator badge, too. (cries)

7:00 PM
yep the system need a bit to catch up i still wait on two badges messages of badges I got 1,5 hours ago

I thought I noticed you earned one this morning. I forget what it was.

oh I received several badges today

He says it so nonchalantly.
As though earning badges is an everyday activity.
Well, I guess it is, after all.

I know, I was just looking at your profile.
It's very nearly discouraging.

user136984
7:08 PM
Wait, AU has its own chat site?

How do you earn 575 rep in one day?

bounty
@ParanoidPanda eh?

@anonymous2 Accepted answers are excerpt from the 200 cap.
I think.

oh right. and accepted answers don't count towards the cap either.

So if you get 25 upvotes, do you get the rep on a later day, or do you just lose it?
*55
No, I was right before.

user136984
7:10 PM
@Seth: Go to the Restrictions section of the ToC.

user136984
I can't seem to access the site though... Invalid security certificate...

Delete the https.
From the url

user136984
@anonymous2: Can't, I have HTTPS Everywhere installed.

Bother.
Gulp. I do remember seeing that page and reading about 4 paragraphs.

user136984
Anyway, what do you see when you go there?

7:12 PM
Want me to copy paste?
;)

@anonymous2 Good question.

user136984
I got there from a link at the end of one of the several moderator ToCs I've just been reading...

@terdon in case you find it useful, meta.askubuntu.com/a/12188/158442 (that was mine)

I don't see anything about the 200 cap in it at all.
It seems to be more of a legal notice (terms of service)

@muru so you been there, done that and got a ruffle like i got from you ;)
coool

7:15 PM
@Videonauth of course. :D

@anonymous2 The help center page says: "You can earn a maximum of 200 reputation per day from any combination of the activities below. Bounty awards, accepted answers, and association bonuses are not subject to the daily reputation limit."

well we are all humans

@AndroidDev and refunds of downvotes, too, I think

@muru Anonymous2 was asking, "So if you get 25 upvotes, do you get the rep on a later day, or do you just lose it?"

Lost

7:17 PM
Forever?

Yep.

@muru Why?

Okay. Anyone know the reason behind?

Unless one of those reversals or user deletions happen and a rep re-calc is triggered

@muru someone eplained to me that it will be then rolled out over the next days

7:18 PM
@Videonauth never for me

weird
well

@Videonauth What is that?

@anonymous2 I guess the logic is simple: if (bounty|accept|bonus | (rep < 200)) award();

i was referring to your question about the up votes and musus answer to that
so we going to get a panda as cannidate in th elections now everything is lost

7:21 PM
It seems to me that will be incentive for people to spend less time in a day on the site.

@Videonauth What?

@anonymous2 And to prevent a user from gaining rep too fast probably.

Q: How is my question "primarily opinion-based"?

Sam EstepI asked a question about the future stability of packages in the Proprietary GPU Drivers PPA. I wasn't particularly hopeful of receiving answers, but when my question was put on hold as "primarily opinion-based", I was flabbergasted. There are only three possible answers to my question that I can...

@anonymous2 rep is not supposed to be a target to get

@ByteCommander the Panda is going to nominate

7:22 PM
Really? Me too.

well then i guess i will have zero chances left ^^

Q: What is the reasoning behind the reputation cap?

Graeme PerrowThere has been a lot of talk about the daily reputation cap and what counts and what doesn't count and so on. But why is there a cap at all? I've seen lots of questions about whether the cap number should be changed, or whether certain things should or should not apply to the cap, but I've never ...

@Videonauth You've only been here 2 months. Next year you'll have a ton of rep.

@AndroidDev True, that.
@muru Very helpful. Thanks
@AskUbuntuMeta These opinion based dilemnas seem to be frequent.

@Videonauth Sorry for that... But time will tell anyway. There's a load of far worse candidates.

7:25 PM
Remember: pretty much any question you can think of about SE has already been asked on Meta Stack Exchange. :P

@AndroidDev but mod election is not every year >:)
@muru not true :=)
I can think up some weird questions :P

@Rinzwind He said pretty much, not all.

@AndroidDev I can think up A LOT of weird questions then >:-D

@Videonauth And 6k rep in 2 months is.. well... amazing actually. I've been here for 2 moths, and I only have 2k.

well someting i must do when i cant sleep

7:28 PM
@Videonauth That's ~100 rep per day!

I've been here 2 months and only have 800.
@AndroidDev He does have an astounding record.

but im as well online on the page alone today 13 hours already

@Videonauth Good grief!

and yestrday it was 16 hours

Do you sleep?

7:30 PM
in between i had around 4 hours of rest

@Videonauth And that is why we have rep caps...
@Videonauth Do you not have other things to do?

Still, he hasn't bumped them yet.

yeah i sleep, so 12-20 hours per week

Gracious! I sleep 12-20 hours a day... well, not quite. :)
More like 6-10, for those who are wondering.

@Videonauth Do you survive on espresso?

7:32 PM

MinzkrautIm trying to install unity3D on my persitsent Ubuntu linuy, the stick is 10+ gb and the persistent part about 4GB. But whenever i run dpkg -i unity-editor-5.3.5f1+20160525_amd64.deb it takes a while and then throws this error: (Reading database ... 192291 files and directories currently instal...

nope, im clinical insomniac

@AndroidDev No, he has to stay awake, he's got a Lion sitting on his profile all the time.

i need pills to sleep

@Videonauth :(

this is why i nominated :p it would give me something to do :D

7:33 PM
How long can you survive like that? :)

@Videonauth This ^^^

well technically it gets critical around day 8 to day 7 awake
but i wouldnt stay up that long, only 4-5 days

@Hizqeel - Glad to see you've already begun making better edits. askubuntu.com/posts/784574/revisions
@ParanoidPanda So do you use ParanoidAndroid ROMs and a panda picture as your background?

user136984
@AndroidDev: Uhm... Don't use Andoird, is that what the former is for? And no, I have a large Totoro as my background. ;D

@ParanoidPanda eh?

user136984
7:40 PM
@Seth: If you click on the link and then go down to that section it will be listed there.

yeah I read it, but you just said "read this". So...?

user136984
That's how I came across it...

Came across what?
@anonymous2 You just lose it.

user136984
The AU chat thing.

user136984
I never knew we had our own chat sub-domain.

7:43 PM
ohhhh, that.
it just sends you to the normal chat, but with an AU filter set.

@ParanoidPanda It's a type of Android ROM. Like how CyanogenMod is a type of ROM.

user136984
@Seth: Ah...

user136984
I was just curious because the certificate error was stopping me from accessing it and it sounded interesting...

pizza hawaii
4 cans of coke
------------------
dinner

Already??? We're only 16h.

7:49 PM
21:49 here :=)

Oh right. Europe.

so it aint even dinner I'd assume
more like an almost-midnight-snack

user139252
Pineapple on pizza?

user139252
You're a crazy person.

@Rinzwind 4 cans of Coke, eh?

7:51 PM
yes sir.
pretty standard pizza @TheBrownOne

user139252
For crazy people, maybe.

not really :-D
we dutch are inventive
we even have a frikandel pizza >:)

user139252
Well, that's fine, that's meat.

I like lots of pizzas, but pineapple on pizza isn't that good, IMO xD

Tim
Pineapple and ham is a standard topping. We call it Hawaii here

7:53 PM
Hawaiian I would eat if there wasn't anything else however.

user139252
Here's what belongs on pizza: Meat, tomato sauce, vegetables, fruits in the melon family, fruits in the pepper family, cheese. Copious amounts of cheese.

@Tim we sure do!

@TheBrownOne melon family?!

melon? never had that on pizza

user139252
Cucumber, zuccini

7:54 PM
Squash ;)

user139252
Pumpkin isn't bad on a pizza.

user139252
Squash are melons D=

Tim
The Cucurbitaceae, also called cucurbits and the gourd family, are a plant family consisting of ca 965 species in around 95 genera, the most important of which are: Cucurbita – squash, pumpkin, zucchini, some gourds Lagenaria – mostly inedible gourds Citrullus – watermelon (C. lanatus, C. colocynthis) and others Cucumis – cucumber (C. sativus), various melons Luffa – the common name is also luffa, sometimes spelled loofah (when fully ripened, two species of this fibrous fruit are the source of the loofah scrubbing sponge) The plants in this family are grown around the tropics and in temperate areas...

we have shoarma pizza

Tim
That includes courgette (zucchini)
So like Kebab on pizza?

7:55 PM
@TheBrownOne same family, but when you say melon people think watermelon, cantaloupe, honey dew, etc..

yes
@Seth and pineapple :=DD

@Seth Yeah that doesn't sound too good.

user139252
Pineapple isn't a melon!

user139252
Pineapple is a delicious fruit that belongs on its own.

user139252
Or with mango and blueberries in a delicious smoothie.

7:56 PM
@TheBrownOne if you say only melon typefruit goes on a pizza.... pineapple is a melon >:)

@TheBrownOne It can stay on its own. I won't join it.

My favourite pizza so far was red sauce, chicken, spinach, garlic and parmesan. And maybe tomatoes.

user139252
Pineapple isn't a melon!

@Seth +1

@TheBrownOne No. Melons taste good.
And don't bite your mouth
Just kidding: I like pineapple from time to time.

7:57 PM
Although I once got a margherita pizza at an Italian place and it was delicious.

user139252
I love pineapple/mangp/blueberry smoothies.

anyway, lunch. bbl

user139252
Anyone else from the US in here at the moment?

yep

@TheBrownOne me

Q: Why does my cursor keep disappearing/flickering?

AustinCI'm fairly new to Linux, and am starting out with Ubuntu in an effort to become more comfortable with the operating system. However, I'm currently using a dual-screen setup, with one screen being a bit bigger than the other (not sure if that's relevant). I've made a Linux live disk so that I can...

Hawaiian pizza is a pizza that usually consists of a cheese and tomato base with pieces of ham and pineapple. Often versions will have mixed peppers, mushrooms and bacon. Another variety consists of pineapple and Canadian bacon or American Bacon. It is the most popular pizza in Australia, accounting for 15% of pizza sales. Despite its name, Hawaiian pizza is not a Hawaiian invention; it is Canadian. The Village Voice, National Post, Toronto Sun, London Free Press and The Chatham Daily News have covered Sam Panopoulos' claim that he created the first Hawaiian pizza at the Satellite Restaurant in...

@TheBrownOne Yes

user139252
Have you guys used a service called Active Hours?

@TheBrownOne Who are "you guys"?

no
us guys in the us

7:59 PM
@chaskes Oh.

user139252
@AndroidDev Other people from the states.

States or America?

user139252
No,states of matter.

@anonymous2 What's your definition of America?

@TheBrownOne nope i haven't used that befpre

8:01 PM
My current favourite is pizza with tortellini. :)

@chaskes North and South America. What else?

user139252
Gotta get back to work D=

@anonymous2 What exactly are you asking?
@TheBrownOne Nope.

@AndroidDev Well, the USA isn't the only place in North America, after all.

i sense a debate over the common use of "America" vs "USA"

8:01 PM
Mmm, Just wondering.

If it's numbers that win, we Canadians are off the board.

@edwinksl Yeah the missing "of" makes makes all the difference.

Tim
America = US = USA. North America = US + Canada. South Americal is the Continent. Central America is Mexico etc. - A brit's opinion

@anonymous2 What's the summer temp in CA?

i understand why people might disagree with how americans just say america as opposed to US or USA

8:03 PM
@Tim Hey!
@AndroidDev Depends where. Right now it's around 13 degrees.
CELCIUS

although, let's be honest, it is a silly debate (although i myself always use US or USA)
CA can easily reach 30+ C in the day
during summer

Tim
I try to use US

@edwinksl True enough.
@edwinksl True enough.
@edwinksl Absolutely true.

but the thing about summer in CA is it is hot AND DRY
so that makes it a little more bearable as opposed to hot and humid

@edwinksl Very true.

user136984
8:05 PM
If a huge Guinea Pig wins soon, I'll start calling you all Trumpions... ;P

@anonymous2 So let's see: 13*2-10%+32 = ~55F

user136984
@ByteCommander: Oh so you're back then I see?

@AndroidDev Right. 55.4 according to Google.

Tim
eew get the °F out of here!

@Tim i agree

8:06 PM
@ParanoidPanda - Yeah, and he's not happy.

but let's just say i am fighting a losing battle in the US to convert people over to the one true system of units

@edwinksl No! Don't give up!

Tim
Possibly the worst unit: °Rankine

Tim
It's Farenheight, where 0 = absolute 0.

8:07 PM
@Tim kelvin :P

Oh. Like Kelvin

@Tim that isn't so bad, it is used in various engineering disciplines
at least it is not used in daily use
Fahrenheit though...

@edwinksl Poor engineers.

Tim
No, Kelvin is °C at absolute 0

@anonymous2 The one thing I don't like abut the Metric system is that it goes CM --> M. There's nothing in-between.

8:08 PM
@Tim Yeah. I meant, same principle.
@AndroidDev There's DM.

@AndroidDev hmm? yes there is
2 more in between (every 0 has its own name)

@AndroidDev not true, there is decimeter (or decimetre for you europeans ;))

@Rinzwind Only one, though.

oh wait was thinking mm :D

@AndroidDev thats not quite right mm * 10 == cm *10 = dm * 10 = m

8:09 PM
Though I must say that the decimeter is rarely used.

in fact decimeter is commonly used in chemistry'
because 1 cubic decimeter = 1 liter

@edwinksl That's true.

@anonymous2 That's sorta my point.

@edwinksl at 0 atmosphere? and when water? (probably?)

@anonymous2 In the US we rarely use Yards though.

8:11 PM
@Rinzwind exact

@AndroidDev That's true too.
@Rinzwind Isn't it at 1 atm?

@anonymous2 1 bar

@anonymous2 Pop quiz: How many feet in a mile?

Somewhere around 5000

@AndroidDev except we do use yards in american football ;)

8:13 PM
@edwinksl True.
@anonymous2 I was about to type NO GOOGLE!

those numbers make me cringe really
for that i love meters and kilometers
no need to guess , simply 1 km is 1000 m

@AndroidDev If I remember correctly, it is exactly 5280.

@AndroidDev what kind of mile? nautical?

@Videonauth And what about 32 = water freezing and 212 = water boiling?
@Rinzwind Haha.

8:15 PM
never forget about gallon

@AndroidDev different amount of feet in a nautical mile ;-)

that thing is defined in so many ways
it is absurd

@AndroidDev same 0 celsius is freezing and 100 ceslius boiling

@Rinzwind I know.

@edwinksl Oh, no! I'm a mechanic and I haven't understood that one yet!

8:15 PM
@AndroidDev penguin feet are larger >:)

@Videonauth For water, not mineral oil.

well celsius mesured water for his metrics system

user136984
Well, my speech isn't actually going as badly as I thought it would...

andfahrenheit defines it other way

@edwinksl Yeah: 2 pints = quart; 4 quarts = gallon.

user136984
8:17 PM
Maybe you will see it sometime tomorrow. :)

user136984
Anyway, what are you guys all talking about? Different ways of measuring milk?

What this has to do with Ubuntu, you've got me.

@ParanoidPanda think on it , only 1200 characters

@ParanoidPanda no pineapple on pizza :=)

@ParanoidPanda No, a discussion about the future of this site.
Are we going metric or English?
;) Not at all. It was a rabbit trail.

8:18 PM
@ParanoidPanda It all started cause I asked, anonymous2 "What's the summer temp in CA?"

user136984
@Rinzwind: I made a very nice pineapple and ham pizza once... It even had a blue cheese stuffed home made crust. :)

the ability of a online chat room to digress should never be underestimated ;)

It all started because @TheBrownOne asked a question about Americans. She's gone, BTW.

@anonymous2 Anyway temp here is 23C.

We've gotten that warm. I've mowed the lawn once. With a lawnmower that has a 32" deck.
I mean, a .33 meters.

8:23 PM
@anonymous2 It's been 90F+ here sometimes...
Bye everyone.

@ParanoidPanda dont tell @TheBrownOne

well, ill say good night for today, have tomorrow an appointment i cant miss, and i should sleep tonight
later @all

8:38 PM
@Tim huh?

Tim
I mean Kelvin is °C but shifted so 0 = absolute 0 (~-273°C)

@Tim Mexico is part of North America actually.. Some places include central in it too.
@Tim Oh. That's true. I was confused by what you meant.

user136984
@Rinzwind: Why not? :D

@ParanoidPanda scrollup to the hawaii pizza discussion:+)

9:20 PM
Hi

9:50 PM
Sure got quiet after I left.
Woah, I'm actually the only active user.
I guess everybody lives in Europe.
Say, just who is Shog?

@Seth (or any other mod) I am trying to get some kind of a clear picture... Could you give an indication of the time, spent daily, on the janitory part of the job; converting comments, handling flags and such?

Which job? Mod?

@MuditKapil Hah! Won't happen: not enough time: I got a new job now...

@anonymous2 No, as a bicycle repair man (kidding) :) Yes, as a mod.

@anonymous2 Shog is a Stack Exchange Employee, thus a "super-mod"... (a moderator on ALL sites)
@MuditKapil Nah! I'm an old curmudgeon who can't stand stupidity so I try to erase it from this universe! ;-)

9:57 PM
@JacobVlijm Hmm, I could give you some hints on the former...

@anonymous2 no, seriously, you are a bicycle repair man?

@JacobVlijm , you're thinking of running?
@JacobVlijm Kind of an everything repairman.

@JacobVlijm It's a lot of drudgery. Especially here on AU with all the newbies...

@Fabby What I am afraid of is that I will lose the fun of creating twisted answers :)
