ah fu
well sitting here since around 10 hours writing on an answer and what do i get downvote by some random stranger who thinks it is not an answer -.-
:(
sighs
well i deleted my answer now
sick of it
sick of getting downvoted for hard work
I' super pi**ed right now

2:12 AM
@Videonauth to bad you deleted it...

why ?
want to see it ?

Yeah.
and because one down vote compared to the bounty...

@Videonauth undelete that answer plz

no no need to gain more minus votes
:(

I can see it. You'll come out ahead.

2:20 AM
tell me when you have it open then i remove the link

Got it.

well really i deleted it because i wasnt sure if it was enough and well im sick of getting DV by some sickhead

Everyone gets down voted...

One guaranteed upvote - me - == 4 more downvotes in terms of points.

Even me...and I am near perfect :-P
@RobotHumans then if he accepts it as the correct answer that is 500 off the top.

2:22 AM
i mean when its enough to go into detail @RobotHumans ? it is really like that the libpoco needed needs to be build as well

yes.

and this again needs dependencies
if i would go into that detail , well imagine im writing next year still
well ok ill undelete it

look... you got one downvote from a user with 10% the rep of you.

@RobotHumans can someone ban you for posting that video lol

yeah someone who post the man page of apt-mark on an 4 year old question as an answer

2:25 AM
They could, but it is related to the conversation and probably in good taste. So, I don't think they will

and undeleted it is
@ the xed did you have a chance to read it ?

yes I read it...
makes sense to me...

and you're at +8 on that question now. one dv one uv is net 8. the system is really well balanced.

but imagine im sitting here since 10 hours fiddling around, and im surely will fiddle more on it

Just accept that people suck and you're going to take a few hits.

2:27 AM
and in regards to people randomly down voting stuff down...people on here are stupid, that is why it is important for the rest of us to be awesome...

well you guys are awesome really

Sounds like a good mug opportunity... Ask Ubuntu: Home of the Awesome Answerers

it's just the feeling you think youre done with it and getting belittled

Well we don't like to brag...but thanks...

speak for yourself... i like to brag from time to time

2:31 AM
@RobotHumans lol...
@RobotHumans sure, okay...
I stealth brag with my free super user shirt...

btw i started a little side project todays morning
will delete the link in a few seconds

You mis-spelled tipps...

And where you mention "Ask Ubuntu" you should change that to "Ask Ubuntu: Home of the Awesome Answerers"
Because that's a thing now

@chaskes lol

well then the spell correction on firefox mucks

2:34 AM
;)

if I type tips i gett it red underlined and when i write tipps not

People still use Firefox? :-P

sup @chaskes - @Videonauth just needed some go juice on a good deleted answer.

Something is wrong with your firefox then...
because when I type tips it is fine, but not tipps.

weird but well ill change it

2:36 AM
@RobotHumans Hmm, I see that RobotHumans dgaf.

yes. same person

a name change was not something I ever expected to see. :)

geez, people were after me to change the name/pic for months. now when i do i get this ;)
has been like 12 times today... literally

lol

don't get me wrong, I like it. I shakes my existential assumptions but i like it.

2:39 AM
@Videonauth can you post your link to your page again...I accidentally closed it with a bunch of other tabs and i am to lazy to dig through my history...

hisname.dyndns err easy to remember

got it thanks...
adding it to rss feed now

@chaskes well, the me playing with ML and a Kreiger joke rolled in to one.

yeah will add some of my answers i produced here next days in more refined form i think

2:41 AM
ML?

So I have to say I have been using Android for about 5 days and I am kind of enjoying it.

machine learning

Ok. I'm into ML but I have a lot to learn.
And Kreiger is just funny

yes and yes
I wanted a question mark at the end of RobotHumans, so you could read it in the voice of Kreiger as a half question half statement, but the system didn't want me to have it - and I wasn't resorting to unicode.

mhmm can someone tell me why my cups-pdf isn't working anymore ?

2:44 AM
what did you do? it works here.

Q: AppArmor with cupsd denied in logs

Nori-chanI was updating the OS today (security patches), when I found something strange in the syslog: apparmor="DENIED" operation="signal" profile="/usr/sbin/cupsd" pid=2483 comm="cupsd" requested_mask="send" denied_mask="send" signal=term peer="unconfined" It appeared in the syslog 5 times. I never ...

funny how that works... google put me right back on AU

:) well i did put in my line but didnt get a result from google

apparmor ubuntu cups was it i think

ah ok
well the fix supposed in this answer didnt work out actually reading the help page linked
only thing i did was changing where the pdf-files are saved
and this did work until lately if i look into the folder

2:57 AM
eh, i also see NEXUS-ONE, are you running some debian based thing on a phone?

no lol i just keept my old names around
NEXUS-ZERO is my router
NEXUS-TWO my laptop
NEXUS-THREE and FOUR my phones

I leave my network names to the default...it is much more fun to troubleshoot network problems that way...

ah. people and their naming conventions. knew a guy that did norse mythology, another one that did star wars references, me with borrowed words only

i run those names already long time even before google discovered the mobile bussiness
and the workgroup the have been running in window is called HORDE
:p
and the wlan SSID is HORDE-BOX :D

funny story, the norse mythology one ran a security class at a college and named the box his reverse connect script connected to loki. fun times.

3:01 AM
@RobotHumans Speaking of Norse mytho, have you seen The Almighty Johnsons?

i have not

in netflix. highly recommended. 36 episodes

watched the trailer. seemed worth watching. it's on my list after this weekend. this weekend needs to be productive. house needs to be superclean and clothes need to be washed quite badly.
i'm a bingewatcher and i won't stop if i start

and this one really gets better as it goes
I did the whole thing in about 3 days

@RobotHumans better then being a binge drinker I guess...

3:05 AM
well, both can be bad for productivity

But one is worse for your health...

i think the binge anything part is a personality type.
upside, you can also be a binge reader or a binge coder

was about to say I'm a binge reader

I binge chocolate...

I binge just about anything. Choose something. I even make food in large batches and "binge curry" (eat it for a week at a time) from time to time.
anyway, i need to get back to tictac

Giving UE4 a try...

Okay will likely try this tomorrow. Thanks for your answer. I was going to try running through the instructions on the readme myself but I was busy with a lot of other things. Good on you for testing it btw. I'll grant you the bounty if it works :) — RolandiXor ♦ 9 mins ago

@Videonauth I know. That's why we did it.

@RolandiXor is my brother from another mother @Videonauth

:) well im really gratefull for you guys support at this moment really i was struggling with myself

No problem...that is why I am here as I have grown to lazy to answer/ask questions myself...
Well that and I kind of know what I am doing now.

3:35 AM
@Seth ewww broccoli. might try the same thing with kale. i like kale.

im still not sure why cups is acting up now on this machine while it didnt on the laptop and dont on the laptop

Well good night everyone

@RobotHumans kale is good too :)
huh, so this ransomware shut down and released their key bleepingcomputer.com/news/security/…

that says to me they had a specific target, released in the wild and to their target, hit the target, and are finished.

that's possible, although the article says their distributor also moved on to another type of ransomware.

3:38 AM
We did it. It's done now. Sorry we were such a pain in the ... Here's the unlock key. Have a nice day.

@RobotHumans are you thinking of me? I use Norse mythology for my Pies and Star Wars for my other devices

I tend to just eat my pies.
If you name them you get overly attached.

yay i fixed cups-pdf :D
stupid apparmor

Hello friends :-)

Hello! :)

anybody use ubuntu-GNOME 16.04?? coz inspired by @ParanoidPanda I deleted Ubuntu unity and installed Ubuntu-GNOME. I have some small issues here : I cant create any file/folder on my desktop (O)_(O) . There is a folder ~/home/Desktop but any files created inside that folder is not reflected on my desktop. Any Ideas ??
I also cant lock my qtox to launcher (or whatever its called in gnome)
hm.. okay, please help me with this : what is the color code of Ubuntu-Unity default terminal color. coz here its white , I wanted the classic one ;-P
This is what I managed. but its not perfect
Am I being extremely narrow minded?? you guys also have a favorite terminal color right ??
@Seth Hi :)

@SeverusTux yeah, the default ;)
hi!
@SeverusTux Unity purple is #300A24

1:38 PM
Wow! thats it. thanks ;-)
this is perfect now :)

@SeverusTux that colour scheme...
the second one is better
I prefer green on black tho

@SeverusTux GNOME's desktop doesn't show what's in the Desktop folder. There's probably an extension you can get for it though

@JourneymanGeek green on black with little transparency is my second favorite ;-) . @Zacharee1 So the desktop is always empty ?? thats a little weird..

i wanted to do an LTS-LTS update today, but i guess that just isn't going to happen... oh well.
it keeps telling me that 14.04 should update to 14.10
not 16.04.

did 16.04 hit its next point release? or is there a bug with the force leapfrog switch?

probably a bug with the force leapfrog
or my mirror is out of date
either is possible
and now it's saying that 15.10 is the latest
it's confused
FINALLY!! xenial here i come
only took 30 minutes to get the upgrade screen to show the right release

well, at least it works now

@ByteCommander I used a video chat just yesterday.
no text though

I prefer Text.

I would recommend ditching skype ASAP though.

Did not test audio or video calls yet though.

Between Microsoft collecting data, it being entirely insecure, and no real linux support..

Yeah. And it's not like there aren't alternatives that work now. Years ago, it was the only thing that worked well, so you used it. You don't have to any more.

@ByteCommander works just fine for me. (just tried)

@RobotHumans yup
@ByteCommander at least WA is end-to-end now..

And yes, on my desktop it worked fine as well. Just the new notebook makes problems.

Did anyone see - snapchat now has a bug bounty program that pays pretty well.

(although I'll do hangouts in a pinch)

@Seth hangouts ftw

5:28 PM
@RobotHumans neat. I did not see that.
@RobotHumans but google :/

Like they don't know everything already...

oh, I'll also do signal.
@RobotHumans But they don't have to.

fair enough
personally i'm better with a google or an apple that fell squarely on the "show me a warrant" side of the house knowing more than i am on the MS side of the house too, so there is that.

@RobotHumans eh, I don't think Google is on our side.
and I wouldn't be surprised if Apple's support is fleeting. But I hope not.

@Seth i think they're on whichever side is better business, which at the moment would appear the public - if it's the public vs universal surveillance

5:33 PM
@RobotHumans maybe. but "too big to fail" is still a thing too.

and google and apple are a little to big to pull an asange on and just remove their payment processing abilities.

That's why I am excited about Ubuntu Touch.
FINALLY a phone that isn't controlled by major US companies.

Well, anything with an unlocked bootloader is fine with me.

gtk apps' menu bars aren't showing up.

no
everything else works fine, and some apps like FF still have menu bars.

maybe you have a borked css theme file somewhere
then apps that specify their own theme for their menus and whatnot would still be working

I guess it's possible, but I'm not sure how CSS could make them not show up at all.

If it failed to parse and there's a null in there somewhere - error handling could keep the app from crashing but fail to render... maybe.

@RobotHumans ah.. its okay then :)

6:48 PM
Haha, check this out:

What the....

Everything was alright till now. I installed Ubuntu-GNOME its nice yada yada .... At last I decided to create a Clonezilla backup. Then I see something strange after rebooting. there are **3 !!** Desktop environments
- Gnome (Default)
- Gnome (Classic)
- Gnome (on wayland)

Whhhaaat?? I never installed any of these.. I dont even want these. How did they got installed ?? is it because of the dist upgrade ??

um those are part of GNOME.

they were not there before
It was a nice new login screen with only 1 De
now its old ubuntu login screen with a Gnome Icon in left
I managed to remove 3rd one with apt-get purge gnome-session-wayland
Rebooting to UBuntu-GNOME Live to compare what extra gnome package I have.

I've got several different technologies that are all new to me at the same time and not sure where they problem is. (and I don't like it when people do this, but from experience with this exact thing it's better)
