@Windows3.1 I meant it as a joke. A while ago. Then I'm happy to admit I shouldn't have done something and clean things up. At least, once someone says they feel it to be touchy to them.
@Windows3.1 sure they both can ban people, but that's just one of the powers they can have, and typically admins have more powers than moderators, as in they can reset passwords and such. moderators usually don't have access to user's info of that level
@Windows3.1 I personally don't like banning people either, but I sort of follow 3 strikes rule. I work in a computer lab, and if someone doesn't listen to me, 3 warnings, and then I call supervisor
@TheXed nope, i didn't recognize elitebook or anything like that . . . that's just my own thought, but i guess it coincides with whatever that picture was
You know . . . I've sort of love-hate relationship with Windows. Mostly I try to like it, mostly I try to come to terms with it. But it's like having a girlfriend who's a perpetual kleptomaniac. Windows , I try to keep calm . . . but when it comes to simple things, like at least turning of the damn Cortana . . . or enabling response to ICMP echo ( which for some BLOODY reason is under Files and Sharing rules in firewall ) . . . well I just loose my sh!t then
How does ICMP echo have ANYTHING to do with Files and Sharing ? Why do you have option to turn off learning about a user ( which kind of implies Cortana ) if that option doesn't actually turn off SearchUI.exe and even as admin I cannot remove executable permission from that exe file ?
@Windows3.1 Eh, at least Windows 7 had control panel. Windows 10 UI has these "Settings" which give little to no useful settings, while actual Control Panel is just hidden.
@Windows3.1 Have no choice it is built into the motherboard / BIOS activation key, even though Dell tech had installed Windows 7 Ulitimate that can't be reactivated. Anyway need Windows to play games like Mass Effect 3.
Maybe it's just me,but Ubuntu doesn't pi$$ me off as much as windows . . . even if there are graphical bugs and issues, I know I can work around them . . . but with Windows, it's just . . . 20 minutes into it , and already tearing my hair off
@WinEunuuchs2Unix I love the windows 8.1 start menu, GUI, and taskbar, as well as the great touch integration but also the added mouse and keyboard user fixes that improved iwndow s8.0
windows 8.0 was a joke that unfortunately casted a bad light on windows 8.1
btw I'm trying the latest zorinos 12 on one of my laptops
@Serg If it takes me a year (I'm slow) to get through a game the $10/mth rental doesn't save money.
Yes I have a PlayStation 2 someplace too... just not here...
Anyway my point is if the Sony TV and Sony BluRay Player have processors capable of running PS3 games they should let you store them on USB rather than on-line rental... that's all.
@Videonauth Actually, I do want to get one of those eventually. So far I don't do any soldering or playing with sensors. I'm just poking around server ideas here and there. Like, I used to have minecraft server running there via docker - that was alright
i am just interested in Snappy, where will it go and such, plus it's another topic to learn and answer on AU, although i haven't dedicated that much time to it lately
It's a bit limited so far, there's not a lot of software packages for it
Yeah, I'm pretty much broke too. Plus my dad today said i have to give 100$ each months for utilities and stuff. Yay, and right before finals when I've no work till like February
"few years from now" is far off into future. Right now I'm basically broke and stuck in my goddamn degree , being beaten down by classes as if professors think it's my fetish . . .
Nah, sure, let's screw Serg even more, why not . . . it's not like he's down already
I got my .ISO image off the internet last week and burned it to DVD using Ubuntu. Then rebooted and installed n/p. But the Windows 8 license key is burned into BIOS from the factory which might be the difference between you and I.
I've had horrible luck booting off of USB over the years and have pretty much given up on it now. Yeah I got my 8.1 ISO from microshaft as you call them.
@Zacharee1 because look at the average age of computer-literate people in the earth compared to 26 years ago when I was born, and you realize IM-speak and text speak and stuff is starting to take over.
@Videonauth WineHQ sounds challenging for someone like myself who still after 18 months is unable to get hair morph / skins / whatever working in EA games.
@WinEunuuchs2Unix only thing giving me a headache are ubisoft games right now, not because of thegames themselfes, no the frickn ubisoft launcher doesnt play nice
i better leave chat. i was ok half the day, but just remembering this whole "100$" thing and my classes just . . . throws away all and anything good for today.
What's a republic though? how does it differ from a nation or country? How does a nation differ from a country or republic? Why is Russian Federation different from country, nation or republic?
(Not a duplicate of What should be done (if anything) about the "How to run [Windows Program] in Wine?" questions?, as far as I can tell.)
So the help center here allows for questions on the installation and usage of third party programs, as long as they are being used on Ubuntu. This includes u...
@ThomasWard well I'm trying to call a Supreme Court session so we can interpret the rules to decide whether or not running programs under WINE is on-topic :P
@TheXed mobile at this time in Chicago? Late night at the Opera?... yes it was a fairly good series. A little too much dream sequences and multiple personalities for my liking but the Linux terminals were intriguing as were the rebellions against media and large corporations.
