Q: Difference between closing the terminal using the closing button, and Ctrl-D

Sam BrunsWhen I'm launching a background process and then closes the terminal using the window's closing button, the background killed. However if I close the terminal using Ctrl-D, the background process keeps running: sam@Sam-Pc:~$ yes > /dev/null & [1] 10219 // I then close the terminal a reopen a new...

Either people really are dumb, or I'm like the only one taking the job seriously around here
Schedule for this week ? Not printed. Still shows schedule from the last week. Computers ? Not turned off from yesterdays shift
Like come on, people, how hard it is to get your butt off the chair and turn the computers off before you leave ?

Smart people both take their jobs seriously and don't take them seriously at all. Just my 2 cents.

@hbdgaf eh . . . that's kind of a paradox

They wouldn't let me implement remote shutdown, startup(WoL), and updates at one job, because it would be unmaintainable by them. Would have made my job easier though.

@Mateo Whoa! Are those the ones you get by mailing in?

10:17 PM
@hbdgaf unmaintainable because of the cost ?

unmaintainable because it was a community college and people are stupid.

@hbdgaf sounds about right ^_^b

I'm convinced the dumber you are the more you make, so I'm happy at the bottom of the ladder :)

Well, I am a mere lab tech (aka the front desk guy, whom you bother when you don't know to print powerpoint with 4 slides per page ). But I kind of care about my duties and stuff . . . except when i am tired and sleep deprived
yaaaaay my deepin iso has downloaded

deepin looks nice, but i'm still waiting for lxqt to hit main. i think that's the awesomesauce.

10:26 PM
Once it comes out I'll definitely get it for my virtualbox. Meanwhile, I really wanted to try Deeping for a long time. It looks nice, it's based on Ubuntu (I think . . .) and it's a chinese distro

I heard this in a chat the other day "because you were a remorseless Chinese hitman in a prior life?" No, but it is entertaining that people think of me that way.

@RPiAwesomeness yep

And why would anybody say you were remorseless hitman @hbdgaf ? you don't seem so bad . . .well . . .except for the picture, it's a bit scary

It was related to my taste in collars. I like a mandarin collar and I don't know why.
That, and I'm polite mostly... until I'm not.

Hehe. I like chinese girls exclusively , and i dont know why . . . .people are weird in their own way

10:34 PM
There was a cute chinese girl in my HS. I felt bad for her though. Her older sister got a perfect 1600 on the old SAT. She couldn't live up to expectations. NOT POSSIBLE. She needed a hug on a daily.
^^ that is not a joke. I'm serious.

high standards from parents - typical

She tried to teach me to waltz by saying "but you're supposed to lead" so there was a disconnect there.

Sigh . . .where's my high school years where I'd be dancing, like, seriously dancing, with a girl huh ?
@hbdgaf so what became of her now ? still in touch ?

No idea. She was sharp socially though, so would have been a good one to keep in touch with. I'm all math and no people. She was all people and no math. Would have made a good team.

@hbdgaf #IApproveThisMessage ^

Well, I didn't understand these things then. Makes me wonder how I'll look back at now in 20 years.

I probably will be looking back and saying "Jeez louise, how naive and stupid i was "
Because that's what i would say about me 10 years ago
@hbdgaf by the way, any other suggestions on what I should try in virtualbox, besides lxqt ?

I made my opinion. I think it's a perfect idea, now we just have to make everything run on Qt cross-platform and get LXQT to be the primary linux distriburion purpose. Yeah... I like it a lot.

3 - 4 minutes, and I can go home
Spend whole day and still no homework done
as usual
bye, guys.

@Serg See you later.
