9:00 PM
@ParanoidPanda I can ping-terrorize people too!
But I don't want, so could you please react on my question?
I know you're there and I know you're a native English speaker, so please give me a suggestion.

@ByteCommander super user, power user, ...

Isn't that equal with admin?
I need it to be clearly between admin and normal.

Root, admin, super, power, normal, low, guest...

Aha, okay. I guess I'll use power then.
Thanks.

You're welcome...
I've had to do this before...
we also had "operator" but that's kinda old-fashioned nowadays...

9:09 PM
Unlike @ParanoidPanda, you're at least usually mostly talking when it's useful...

You could have pinged me...

I did not want to disturb you.

I was on Skype with a Swedish girl I know and who is just...

However with the Panda, I had no problem, as he disturbed me through the whole day.

hi guys

9:10 PM
... <100 Km from me right now, but we can't meet:

conflicting schedules...

Hmm... Too bad.

That's life!

And I have to leave now - that's life too... ;-/
See you.

9:11 PM
Ciao!
Good night!

@Fabby See you later.

:D

He good-byed the wrong one!

Starred for @NathanOsman's later reviewing!

9:13 PM
Why does it need reviewing?

guys i have a question, why i don't get the option to open in terminal in .sh files, which r executable

@RonnieNissan: good evening!
@NathanOsman Not immediately!
I said Good night to ByteCommander
Good night!

@Fabby See you later.

and George responded!

good evening @Fabby

9:14 PM
Shall I remove the star now?
@RonnieNissan 2 minutes, pls

okay sure

@NathanOsman I thought you wanted to know...
(sorry for bothering you) :( <Shuffling humbly backwards while bowing>
@RonnieNissan So, where's your question?

@Fabby Hi Fabby <3 How are you doing mate ?

@Fabby Sorry, I'm not trying to be mean or anything.
I'm just having a rough day.

@NathanOsman :D You've never seen me do this?
That's what I understood!

9:17 PM
Also, that is actually intended behavior, I'm afraid.

That's why I starred and mentioned "for later reviewing" :P

He doesn't know if you're meaning "goodbye to someone else" or "goodbye from me".
So he assumes the latter.

OK... I just wanted to let you know before he p!$$ed off Oli again!

He won't say anything normally unless specifically asked or someone says "hi/bye".

@MrJackMcfreder I'm ok, depending on the level of help you need!

9:18 PM
i made an bash script to make sound go beyond %100, and after making it excitable it won't give me the option to run in terminal when double clicked i have to cd to it. why is that?

@RonnieNissan Do you have a link to a question on the site?
Ah! sorry!

@RonnieNissan Ah, then I can't get any rep from answering that, now can I?

Okay i gonna make one now.

Could you think deeply about the specifics of the question, post it and then drop by here again?
@RonnieNissan Thanks
@MrJackMcfreder Next!
:P

9:20 PM
sure bro

@MrJackMcfreder What's troubling you now?
>:-)

@Fabby lol u got me i.imgur.com/0P67TQ9.png
@Fabby my nameservers do not seem to resolve
@Fabby I swear I have been sitting here since the morning trying to figure it out

Ah... Like I told you yesteday: I never installed BIND9
You should ask this on serverfault.com

@Fabby :(
@Fabby Yes I did no one responded

Sorry, I'm just a Vorlon, I'm not the all-knowing and all-mighty...
@MrJackMcfreder Link?

9:24 PM
@Fabby You are a mighty Vorlon

Yup, just an angel. Not a god..

@Fabby I just asked in the chat

:D

@Fabby lol indeed

Post a question!
Then people can get rep.
Then post the question in the chat.

9:24 PM
Ok I will now

Maybe another Vorlon will take pity on you

Reading...
@RonnieNissan What kind of shortcut?
a keyboard short-cut?
a disk short-cut?
a desktop file?
Need I go on before you answer @RonnieNissan?

9:40 PM
a keyboard shortcut
sorry i lost connection
Thanks for the edit @Fabby

OK...
so what happens if you type pactl set-sink-volume 0 150% in a terminal?

it rises volume to %150

What's the name of your script?

volume150.sh

What directory is it in?

9:46 PM
user/bin
the first line is #! /bin/sh

/usr/bin or ~/bin?

user/bin

@NathanOsman O_o
@RonnieNissan I don't understan what that means...
in your home directory? sub-dir bin?

in unity there is an option to keep the sound beyond %100. but not in gnome there is not
usr/bin. from computer

9:48 PM
Can you answer the question, please?
what's the full path of the file, then if I don't understand you and you don't understand me?

sorry for my stupidity but I'm still new to Linux

@RonnieNissan You're not stupid and I never said so...
I just said that we don't understand each other...
so: what is the fully qualified name of your file?

/usr/bin/volume150.sh

ah!

9:50 PM
That's what I wanted to know!
copy-paste the name of your file and the contents of your file into your question, please...
(ping me when done)

user136984
@ByteCommander: Oh, sorry, I suspended my machine without signing out just after I sent my last message, and did not receive yours until now... Did it not say that I was last online then? And then not update that last online time until now when I came back? :)

@ParanoidPanda He got an answer already in the mean time...
(Thatks to the resident Vorlon: all A-OK here!)
@NathanOsman Finished reading the article... Guess what the next name of the Google car is going to be?

@fabby i did what you said

Ronnie: Please go and review the editing help to improve the readability of your questions in the future.
While I edit and respond.

9:58 PM
okay bro

user136984
@GeorgetheDev: What is my favourite type of cute?

@ParanoidPanda Your favorite type of cute is me.

@RonnieNissan Go try!

user136984
Yay! He's up and runing again and stopped sulking! :D

(and then come back and accept and upvote)
@GeorgetheDev What is my favourite position?

user136984
10:02 PM
Anyway... Bed now...

@Fabby Your favorite position is on the yellow brick road towards the Emerald City.

@ParanoidPanda Good idea!

user136984
Goodnight! :)

@ParanoidPanda See you later.

Good night, Panda!

10:03 PM
@Fabby See you later.

user136984
:D

@Fabby still no option to execute

Hrmpf...
and the keyboard shortcut?

i'll try that now

(while I research gnome)

10:09 PM
it worked
but is there a way to make it preeminent ?

@RonnieNissan I don't have gnome, and under Unity this just works...
@RonnieNissan Good!
@RonnieNissan What do you mean?

Permanent*

As I understood from your question, that's what you were going to to yourself afterwards: run it during login/boot...

Good! Go and do it then!
@RonnieNissan I'll ask out resident Ubuntu Gnome expert to have a look at the gnome bit why it doesn't want to execute when double-clicked... (when he wakes up tomorrow)

10:13 PM
but what i mean is. when the sound goes under 100. it can't exceed 100 after that. u have to make this shortcut to make it go beyond, is it possible to do it in gnome to is unity has it already. if you sure you can do it. i'll make it a question.

In the mean time: consider it solved and you can accept the answer already!

aha very nice. thanks bro @fabby
sure i did

Now you're better off already then before!
Good night because it's 01:16 in Iraq right now!

@Fabby See you later.

@RonnieNissan How do you say good night in Farsi?

10:17 PM
shav bash. i think

@RonnieNissan What's your native language then?

i'm syriac
syriac

Poor you! Displaced bacause of the war?

i'm assyrian i mean
nope, i live in Kurdistan since i was 8 months

Oh you're a member of PKK? ;-)

10:19 PM
no hahaha

That part of Iraq...
Kurdistan...

i'm not kurd
see it's complicated

But that's the part where you live?
@RonnieNissan Tell me!
I'm going for a smoke (which I deserve after so much work for you) while you inform me of the finer details of the local situation that we cannot see on the news...

we r natives of this place, Iraq, kurdistan, syria and some parts of iran and turkey
sure you do bro
But after adopting Christianity we become peaceful. so Arabs took our lands and language too. they had no language.
as if for Kurds it's not clear from where they r, but they lived in mountains for a long time, then they decided to fight for there rights and make themselves a country, which they claim it has four part,

Oh god! Sounds like Switzerland: mountains, different languages, ...
;-)

10:25 PM
Kurdistan of Iraq, Kurdistan of Iran, Kurdistan of Syria, Kurdistan of turkey
so we live in Kurdistan of Iraq, which is controlled by PDK

@RonnieNissan So your ancestors (the original Assyrians) are the a$$holes that came up with this complicated time system to divvy up one day 3000 years ago?

so that we have 2*12hours, divided in 60 minutes and 60 secs?
I'm not that dumb after all! ;-)

hahaha, I'm not genus as they were

but you now live as a minority/majority?

10:27 PM
minority

being Christian, still speaking Syriac...

they respect us, as the natives
sure
i read and write it

in what could be called Kurdistan (you in the Iraqian side)
What alphabet do you use nowadays?

i studied the school at Syriac

Syriac being a language or a group of people or a city?
(I'm a bit unsure there)

10:29 PM
Syriac is the language, it came from Aramaic
Assyrian r the group of people

OK...
and the alphabet?

i shoul get some rep for this hahha
the old Aramaic alphabet

Ah! Create your own stack Exchange web site! Syriac.stackexchange.com
Is it in the Unicode table?

i don't know what is Unicode

can you type the Syriac alphabet on your computer?
(if yes: please do)

10:31 PM
yes
ܪܘܢܝ ܢܝܣܢ ܝܘܣܦ
ܦܐܒܝ ܢܐܫܐ ܒܪܝܞܐ

AaBbCcDdEéëFfGgHhIiïJjKkLlMmNnOoöPpQqRrSsTtUuüVvWwXXYyÿZz is mine

pretty old huh

If you can type it, it's in the UNICODE table...
You know what ASCII is?

aha
no

UNICODE is a number from 1-65535
32 is space
48 is 0
65 is A

10:35 PM
aha
how you know all of this?

ܢ is 722
:-)

that is N

Because I'm a Vorlon!
No! N is 78
:P
ܢ is 722!!!
That's why it's different...
It's another character in the table...
You definitely need to read a bit more on how computers work!

i mean the 722 is 78 in english

:P
This is basic stuff that anyone should know before they even touch a computer! :D

10:39 PM
i love to do, but i don't have much time,
lol

OK, Go then and thanks for the information!
And go kick your ancestors for the stupid minutes and seconds! ;-)

Thank you for the Fix too

You're welcome...

god all they did was making school hard for us haah

Please: read

10:41 PM
i read novels, I'm a writer BTW
haha

I'll read up on what happened to Assyria after they were the most advanced civilization on this planet!
I'm a chemist!

now they r a bunch of drunk as****s

Go away before I blow you up!

good
ahha

;-)
Ciao!

10:41 PM
bye

@RonnieNissan See you later.

@GeorgetheDev C you later bye

@A.B. @ParanoidPanda: can you have a look here why <del>Ubuntu GNOME</del> Gubuntu doesn't execute a shell script when you double-click it???

Folks, need a review on my script edit plz
8
A: Assign default keyboard language per-application

SergIntroduction The script bellow sets language for each user-defined program, according to the position of that language in the language menu. For instance, if my order English (1),Chinese(2), and Russian(3), I can set firefox to have language 2, terminal to have language 1, and libreoffice to ha...

Let me k now if everything makes sense
