Really?
Isn't it declared pretty old and useless today?
Okay, I have to add that the BASIC I used was MS QuickBASIC 4.5, which is about as old as DOS 6.0... And feels like that.

Hi guys, I'm trying to upgrade from 14.10 to 15.04 using LiveUSB. But the installer does not offer any option to upgrade.
Only the typical "Install alongside Windows", "Erase and Install" and "Something else" options are given.

user136984
@reversiblean: Why don't you just install by using the in-built upgrader in Ubuntu?

user136984
@ByteCommander: You should attend some dancing lessons, maybe then you can do the rain dance and attract the rain! ;D :P

3:20 PM
I have the iso. That's why.

user136984
But there is no point even if you have the iso to battle with the iso if you can simply just upgrade inside Ubuntu, why, do you have a reason other than you have the iso why you don't want to use the standard method?

user136984
Because if you want to keep your data you probably don't do it through an ISO, you do it through the built-in upgrader.

O/

Q: LinuxMint "File System" shows no space when many GB exist

Josh M.I have a VM running LinuxMint 17.1. I just resized the virtual disk, then used a live CD to resize the system partitions. I now have 18GB+ free. However, when I look in Files, "File System" shows as full. I also have been getting warnings that I only have 147MB free. But there's plenty of space, ...

@Seth It looks like he downloaded Chrome from the google page and when double-clicking the downloaded file, the Ubuntu Software center is opening to try and install the file and it craps out...

Wow three downvotes today.

@NathanOsman You around?

6:12 PM
@Seth: I told @A.B. that deleting an answer because you've got 2 downvotes is smart, but deleting an answer with one upvote and 2 downvotes is dumb... So that is why this looks such a mess to anyone able to see deleted answers...
So blame me for the entire mess! ;-)

Why are there two identical answers there? One deleted and one not?

because he didn't like the -1 next to his answer...
I told him it's not very smart, so he reversed and won't do this again!

Elder GeekAgainst my better judgement I actually approved this edit and I wasn't given the option to edit it further. @JacobVlijm OK, so that's why we needed a pro! Thanks... I'll delete my comment from your answer now!

@Fabby Surprised about how the site sorted the answers...

8:36 PM
Well, it's an accepted answer...

Why is your A first, although both have +0-0 and the other one is accepted.
No, it is not.
The other one is accepted.

yes, so that is why that one is on top!

And it is sorted by votes, not by date or activity.
The unaccepted is on top.
But the accepted should be.
Or am I stupid?

no, the accepted is on top unless you sort by "oldest"
(or your browser is stupid...)
;-)

But in my browser, it is not!
I'll prove you:

8:38 PM
try sorting it differently...
I believe you!
no proof necessary!!!

Proof is always good.

Meh... make it in-line, please...

How wide is it?

dual monitor!
Oh cripes! I just noticed someone starred that dumb statement of mine!

8:45 PM
@Fabby :)
But I can combine them to form one giant monitor.

The one containing "undereducated"?

yeah...

^--- that was fun

turning purple too...

You should see how much fun Google Maps is.

8:49 PM
Why did somebody star the "I am sorry" from me?
They don't like me...

@ByteCommander Nah! That one has @ParanoidPanda written all over it
@NathanOsman Did you take that pic?
Is that Vancouver???

Yes.

Wow!

That's not a pic, that's Google Maps.

8:52 PM
Oh... Not impressed any more! :D
;-) :P

Well, all code is art, but not all art is code.

Well, look at the address bar :P
@ByteCommander I dunno man, I've seen some pretty awful code.

Yeah!

@NathanOsman And I've seen some pretty awful art! ;)

@NathanOsman I was so concentrating on the fantastic pic that I didn't even see that! >:)

8:53 PM
I have taken some nice pictures downtown though.

Would you buy a print of a black square, size 70x70cm for about 80€?

@ByteCommander It was touched later (that sort method leads to edit-bumping, but also puts new data at the top of the answer queue).

And it is just plain black.

I bought a picture once...

@hbdgaf But this should not affect the votes sorting, if one of them is accepted?

8:54 PM
The artist forgot to sign it...

And so you did sign it instead of him? ;D

@ByteCommander iirc new answers can appear above accepted ones, but i'm not absolutely sure on that one.

I just updated nemo from a ppa. Logging out...

^--- that one I did take

@ByteCommander yes accepted stays on top

8:56 PM
I'm tempted to have my penguin photo-bomb that one...

check the edit history on the second one if you're unsure.
@NathanOsman do it

@hbdgaf Erm... something strange happened.
I closed that tab a few minutes ago and just opened the link again.
Now it is the correct way round. Accepted first, then the other one.
Heaven knows why...

Did you have noscript on or something? It might drop all the divs on the page, then re-organize them client side.

Heh on the text

9:03 PM
@hbdgaf I have, but askubuntu, sstatic and googleapis enabled.
@NathanOsman It looks a bit strange with the top of the tower sticking out of your penguin's head, but it is funny anyway! :)

I did however not change anything related to NoScript. but somebody upvoted the accepted answer. no idea why, though. Fabby's is ways better.

Oh, I have a really bad good idea...
I'll happily take suggestions for his next place to "visit".

I thought about doing a fake trips business once. Photoshop-ed pictures, memorabilia, false travel documents, etc for a while. Then I thought, neat idea, but who would be your clients?

@NathanOsman What about next to Armstrong on the moon?

9:10 PM
Okay.

You need a helmet then though.
My browser really does weird things now.
I just had another falsely sorted question.
And it did not show the edit of the line I just posted.
Maybe firefox needs a restart...

Not everything on the moon needs a helmet ... he could be a mutant penguin that doesn't need a space suit

Okay, I went with a more subtle effect.

@hbdgaf Don't think this is possible. He would have to survive without oxygen (could be possible) and stand the vacuum, which is definitely not possible for that grand and complex organisms. Or if so, it would not be able to live in the earth atmosphere then.

9:13 PM

:D :D
Also a nice idea.

Wait, no.

@NathanOsman Love it. The killer mutant space-penguin

The great penguin ruling the dark side of the moon!

I have a slight adjustment...

9:15 PM
You need to lower the penguin's quality. More blur and less color intensity. Otherwise it looks so like fake.
And the lighting is not correct. You should take a penguin photo with the light coming from the right side. Or just mirror it.

If you have nothing to do, you could also try and place the penguin as reflection on the helmet. That sounds very complicated though, but would look interesting. ;)

I thought of that.

9:30 PM
Who of you does log out when he leaves askubuntu?

I like this one!
@ByteCommander @ParanoidPanda is about the only one...
>:-)

Only sometimes...
;)
And every time I open my browser again, I am surprised.
Because every time a different set of tabs (chats, main sites, ...) is till logged in, while the others need to be re-logged.
No idea why what logs out and what not...

9:45 PM

less cranky more irritated by the humidity and heat here
which affects my going after bad answer and such making me more evilly efficient

@ThomasW. at least you leave a comment when downvoting...
@NathanOsman I mean: no offence intended with calling you a "god" in lowercase...
