How do I locate the .screenrc file talked about here, and if it does not already exist, then where do I create it? :)

It's supposed to be in ~
Unless you use byobu

user136984
What is "byobu"?

like screen/tmux but better

byobu is a frontend to tmux and screen. Makes some things easier.

or at least, more friendly.

user136984
9:04 PM
How would I know if I have it?

you don't.

user136984
Ok

Because if you did you would know ;)

which byobu, but @Seth is right

user136984
So do I just create the .screenrc file in my home directory then?

user136984
9:05 PM
:)

how many lts users in the world?

Yep.

which reminded me that I didn't install it after my refresh D:
Hi @badp!

user136984
@muru Ok, thanks! :)

@Seth :D My first install command now includes vim-gnome zsh byobu ssh git build-essential.

9:07 PM
@muru what about fish? fish is awesome.
@Seth yo!

@badp I understand it has different syntax.

user136984
So what will this code actually do if I put it in .screenrc? And will a restart be required to make it work?

user136984
blankerprg cmatrix -ab -u2
idle 60 blanker

@muru yes, it's more like ruby's.

While zsh allows more flexible syntax, it's still mostly compatible to sh
Don't want to learn a new language all over again..
@Toroidal A more detailed explanation than: "On idle, run blanker, where blanker is set to the external program cmatrix -ab -u2"?

9:09 PM
oh good old cmatrix.

user136984
So I have set my machine to go idle after 5 minutes, does that mean that it will start cmatrix then?

No, this is only for screen. When screen decides it's idle for 60 seconds.

user136984
Oh, ok.

user136984
So this will also happen when I am in console (like tty1)?

No, when you run screen
screen is like a console version of gnome-terminal

user136984
9:13 PM
Ah, well I don't have the screen package installed.

yo

user136984
Yo yo, I'm a yo yo! ;D :P

user136984
(Always wanted to say that... :D )

@Toroidal :D Get started using it! If you use SSH at all, you will find screen/tmux/byobu invaluable

user136984
@muru Ok, thanks! I am installing it now. :)

9:28 PM
@muru Oh my, I forgot ssh and git!
I tried fish, but I couldn't get used to the syntax.

@xiaodongjie 1-2% of users WW use Linux... But how many of those use Ubuntu??? nd how many LTS? Your guess is as good as mine!

9:50 PM
has anyone else had problems problems with hybrid graphics?
i can't seem to make my radeon to work
it's been days

everyone has problems with those, from what I hear. So I stay away from them

Q: Why doesn't the search feature work properly?

Mark GiblinI am fed up of having my posts marked as duplicate, if the search feature worked properly and drew out relevant answers then I wouldn't have an issue but the fact is, I ask a question because those threads I have read prior to posting a question DON'T answer the question I ask yet I get a notice ...

As someone said on Vi and Vim, "obviousness isn't universal." — muru 6 mins ago
@muru Obviously ;)
uh oh. Meta rant incoming.

11:00 PM
:D

Hello
How can I solved a Segmentation Fault error from a program that is not mine ? (some luajit stuff)
(i'm more or less new to linux for that kind of things)

That is entirely dependent on the code, not something we can just tell you :)

<--- is busy doing his income tax for last year.

this is the file that I run pastebin.com/ThH2Yt9U, it errors at the last line
which calls the luajit executable

11:12 PM
and the error is?

run_cpu: line 46: 10412 Segmentation fault ../torch/bin/luajit train_agent.lua $args
The number (10412) changes every time I run it, but it's always around 10400 (when I use the same rom)

hm, well I'm afraid this isn't my specialty and I won't be able to help you much, but your best bet would be to contact the original developer.

For the record, the 10412 is probably the process ID.

That's going to be difficult, it's some big company more or less :/
But other people have used it and it worked for them
Thanks anyway

Q: what are the processors that support the ubuntu system

MeuChapeuWhich and how many processors are supported in ubuntu? Example (4 Intel 32-bit processors, 16 processors PowerPC)

11:27 PM
@NathanOsman i'ld do mine for the last four or so, but i can't get my previous employer to send the w2...

I really need to get mine done soon and sent in since I have a substantial refund waiting for me.

Hah, I totally would if I could. I mean, I worked half of each of two years at 60k, but earned nothing the rest of the year... so I'm in a massively different earnings to taxes witheld bracket.

Ouch.

Yeah. Ex-bosses will be ex-bosses.

11:55 PM
LibreOffice Calc is basically unusable when I try to resize the window. Repainting issue of some sort.

It's Java. What did you expect?
