12:02 AM
@RPiAwesomeness no she isnt great now because she isnt finished

12:13 AM
@Virusboy Obviously :)
I don't like the new min/max/close buttons. They're too big.
That's what she said
And I like the previous start menu design - this new one is again, too big
The display's not acting correctly in Vbox either. Resolutions are all weird
lol
Nice one MS

I'm still on build 9841.
Which one are you on?

@NathanOsman 9926

you might have to re-download :/

When was that released?

2 days ago?
I think?
It now says Windows 10 Pro Technical Preview...I thought they were doing away with the different levels of Windows

12:28 AM
Argh... I had better not need to redownload a 4.5 GB ISO...
There's something about that in Windows Update, let me see...

@NathanOsman There should be an option to download new builds in the same area as updates

I got it updated from 8.1

@RPiAwesomeness Oh, now I see it.
But how big is the download? It doesn't tell you?

Yeah. :P
That's gonna suck for capped connections...
And no progress bar either
That's something MS needs to work on, the lack of progress bars.
Yeah it's prettier, but I need to see progress.
That's why I downloaded the new ISO separately.

If only I could spin up a cloud server with the ISO...

12:43 AM
Another thing I've noticed between this build and the last is that this build won't play correctly with Virtualbox & resolutions - no full screen
The other build of Windows 10 I've got installed does that just fine.
Bwahaha
Who is Siri?
I have to say, I do prefer build 9841 (the first I downloaded) over the new one (9926)

1:04 AM
so I am back to trying to figure out how to do a command
could I do something to append to stdout to make 2 commands with filters (ls) go into one screen output?

can you append the output to a file, then output the file?

I am supposed to do it all in one command.. i am not sure if it matters if i pipe it though
list all files in the current directory that have names with alternating upper and lower-case letters only. The name may start with either an upper or lower-case letter.

oh, interesting

yeah.. its really hard for me to figure out how to do it

@NoTime So just files that have both cases and none that have only one case?

1:18 AM
alternating

they need to look like this

aAaAaAaAa
and/or
AaAaAaAaA

ahh
what about AbAbAbAb?

yeah that too
or BaBaBaAbBaB
just case matters

so, it would not do ABabAAABBB

correct
CoUld EvEn Be ThIS
if each word was different file
i have half of it working..

ls [![:upper:][:upper:]*

but it misses the ones starting with uppercase
and honestly... it's only dependent on the filenames I have
AaAA AaAa AAAAaA aAaAaAaA aaAA aAaA aaaa
aaaaAAA AAAaaa aAaAa AAaa AAAA
can i do like an array?
ls -f [![:upper:]][[:upper:]]* 0>> ls -f [![:lower:]][[:lower:]]*

did that.. seems interesting.. but didn't work

1:37 AM
Hmpf. This crappy router needed 75 minutes to refresh its connection. I already grew a beard in that time...

Aaand...Windows 10 Tech Preview #2 has decidedly gone to crap
Just a black screen.
Third reinstall, here we come
I get the feeling that this build isn't as good as the previous...
Cortana...did you break something?

there's a third build?
I have 9962

That one

I havent run into an issue yet
I have run all the Blizzard games no issue

Had it working, was having resolution issues, reinstalled, just flat out froze on first boot. reinstalled again, booted, froze when installing Guest additions then wouldn't boot.

1:43 AM
I have Intel IvyBridge that I also Upgraded from 8.1

#Windows

I over intalled on my Dual boot

@Virusboy Did you ever have a build prior to this?

You mean: #WindowsGate.

1:44 AM
no

Lol.

I did the 10(9962) from 8.1

kk
@NathanOsman Has yours finished upgrading itself yet?

1:45 AM
@RPiAwesomeness Should we ever suspect anything else from Microsoft than BSODs and any problems solvable only by reinstalling?

@ByteCommander .. not really :)

Its so it doesnt break in VM
no

@RPiAwesomeness I cancelled it.

Saying/writing this, my Firefox starts to randomly gray out! :P

@NathanOsman Why?
Well, anyways. I'm much preferring the previous build

1:46 AM
Why the hell is Ubuntu now sawing my disk?

@RPiAwesomeness Too much to download.

Skype works

@NathanOsman Oh, do you have a cap?

@NathanOsman yea the 5 GB was intense

Bad karma because I complained about Windows???

1:47 AM
You mean Winblows?

@Virusboy Why would Ubuntu be upset if you were complaining about Windows??

Don't ask me!!!!

Because WINe is not happy

I never used Wine...
but for any reason, I have installed it.
But I think it already calmed down again.
;)

asshats now compile everything with QT

1:50 AM
Hey...

@Virusboy May I ask whom you are accusing of wearing hats on the wrong body part?

>_>
What's wrong with QT?

I'm sorry be cause of QT5 I had to recompile Mesa
Which still has broken compentants

can you append from both ends like

command >> text << other command

Which components?

1:51 AM
Like heck I do!
At least you can set up a local account without using your live account :P

GFX API
WINE API

and having to deal with those stupid code things

anything dealing with rendering under Hardware OpenGL

ok I got this to work... but it seems like way too much work
http://paste.ubuntu.com/9890636/

you spent a whole day on that

1:57 AM
I wasn't here the whole day

stilll

yeah..
and it still isn't optimal

I love this task view
no more alt+tab
hahahahahaha

@Virusboy Windows?

yea

2:00 AM
What task view?
Multiple desktops?

its next to Cortana

Yeah, multiple desktops

@NoTime how about something like this:
ls -f | grep -P '^(?=.*[A-Z])(?=.*[a-z])|^(?=.*[a-z])(?=.*[A-Z])'

aw, nevermind it picked up on longer ones...

2:03 AM
flagged

Anyways. Gnight folks.
TTYL
Maybe I'll having a working Windows 10 installation.
Prolly not

ok let me try that @Mateo

it worked for only like 2-3 characters...

you just need the pattern to repeat {} with brackets.. let me copy and see

-4
Q: your site sucks

Bret BrewsterWhy is it even with advanced search you get 47 pages of horse hockey? I have tried over and over about a simple question about root line command to start recovery and get no usable info through x hundred posts, ii it your crappy death or what?? Cannot you get any simple solutions to simple proble...

He seems to have some problems, but his pc is obviously not the biggest one...
@RPiAwesomeness Oh, did not see this. Sorry for duplicating...

2:10 AM
@Mateo more concise.. but I am not sure how to make it work right.. like if I could use brackets to repeat that whole thing..

yeah... It's using "lookaheads" if you want to look those up

what I have actually works for 4+ characters up to 100 matches :) even though it's ugly

oh, this is better
ls -f | grep -P '^(?=.[a-z][A-Z])|^(?=.[A-Z][a-z])'
it matches 3+ I think
hmmm, nope not working.
oh well

it's getting things that start with Uu then does uU
it's mind boggling that it is that hard to do

2:18 AM
;D

i'm the goalie

2:50 AM
haha

shouldn't this look ahead check for double caps?

grep -P '^(?!*[A-Z][A-Z]*)'

How can somebody use a photo of a child-working kid as profile picture?!? askubuntu.com/users/372665/v%C4%83n-d%C5%A9ng-tr%E1%BA%A7n

because wrong is defined by opinion

3:06 AM
This is not about definition!

3:18 AM
Neither it is about opinion. It is just wrong!
I feel ashamed to use the same OS. >:P

You can flag his question if you feel that his Gravatar is offensive.

@NathanOsman Don't you feel so? But as you said, it is not his question.

What do you mean it is not his question?

There is nothing to complain about his question. Short, clear, clean, on-topic, fine.
It is just his profile picture that I think should not be like it is. You took a closer look? (link above)
So I think flagging the question would not be right... ?

shorter version for people who care:

ls -f |grep -P '([a-z][A-Z])\1'>list |ls -f |grep -P '([A-Z][a-z])\1'>>list;cat list;rm list

3:34 AM
Okay, I finally left a flag explaining my thoughts. Now it's up to the mods and I can find some sleep without having to think about this.

Q: The administrator has banned my IP address. What is problem

kalam azadI am not a very experienced Ubuntu user, so I have to look up some information on the internet. Most of the links lead to http://ubuntuforums.org. But each time I try to open a page on this site, it says "Sorry. The administrator has banned your IP address. To contact the administrator click here...

And with leaving that poor help-seeking guy to you, I also leave now and go to bed, finally.
Good night to everyone around!

WHOOO
Got it after only... idk almost 12 hours
ls -f |grep -P '([A-Z][a-z]|[a-z][A-Z])\1'

4:00 AM
looks complicated

its not as much as I though
@Virusboy unix.stackexchange.com/questions/181246/… check out that see if it explains it

My Site Monitor gave me a bit of a scare:
http://quickmediasolutions.com is down!
Thankfully it was a false alarm.

makes sense
I need one @NathanOsman

I am not sure that command will ever be needed.. but if it helps anyone

@Virusboy A false alarm?

4:10 AM
no a site monitor

Mine is powered by a Raspberry Pi with a wireless network adapter and a script I wrote.
You can get the script here: gist.github.com/nathan-osman/7191607

flak overstow is quite weird @NathanOsman

at is it written in?

@Virusboy It's a Python script.

I can read it!
where is the website though in there?
is it input?

4:17 AM
The list of websites are specified as command-line arguments.
So something like this:
./sitemonitor.py --interval 60 something.com something-else.com

ok so it checks 60 seconds (list of sites)

It won't do anything when there is a problem though unless you provide API credentials for Twitter.

you need to be logged in?

...or if you have a USB-connected LED light.
@NoTime Unfortunately, it's a bit more difficult than that.

I could run that on Driod

4:19 AM
do you have to use a python script to import twitter, and somehow do something from there?

No, you'll need to visit this page and register a new "application".

@NathanOsman did Roland ever recover?

From?

like when he was having a bad night a while ago

Yeah, he's alright.

4:24 AM
ok I just was looking on 2buntu and saw he was on for 2 months.. just was wondering

No, he's taken a bit of a break from 2buntu.

I am wondering if I will ever get bored of linux

Probably not.

no such thing

I hope I don't
I've put a lot into it
I think I have only been using Linux for about 1 year technically? almost same time as AU

4:41 AM
@NathanOsman haha.

2 hours later…
6:32 AM
Whew... I've just finished what is probably the most complicated piece of code I've written in a very long time.
Multi-threading, event loops, exceptions, signals/slots... so much stuff buzzing around in my head. I just hope it all works.

11:53 AM
hi '
can any one guide me which posstion is good programmer or system analyst ?
@Mateo any idea ?
@blade19899

@Mateo I got it running now on Windows 7.
@abhi not sure what you mean?

i got job offer as system analyst currently i am working as programmer , m not sure about designation , can u guide me on this @blade19899

@abhi Nope. Don't have an idea about that!

okey txs

One thing I'm glad, is the existing rendering engine. Would hate to support new vendor prefixes. And to redesign my site would be a hell

1:00 PM
First chance I get I'm installing Zorin-SO:
Unity interface an option there(premium)

user136984
Do you people know what a yawn actually is?

user136984

user136984
:D

1:16 PM
@blade19899 That's not Unity...
Or at least it's a very modded version of Unity
@blade19899 What're your thoughts on it?

@blade19899 I used to have Zorin OS 9 core installed on my laptop
I chose it because they stated it feels pretty much like good old Win XP those few months ago...
But it did not please me that much, so I went to Ubuntu! ;D

Yay Ubuntu :D

It was my first contact with Linux anyway

Ugh. Google has this stupid new redirect notice when clicking on either of the links on Google Images.
Honestly Google. If I've searched for something and then clicked on the image and then clicked on a specific button, I'm sure I want to go that page...
Or this one:

user136984
@RPiAwesomeness: :D :D :D :D :D

1:24 PM
;)
I saw the first one a while back, so I went searching for it, and came across the second one :D
xD

user136984
@RPiAwesomeness :D

@RPiAwesomeness Its zorin whit there default interface made to look like Unity.

@RPiAwesomeness You know this PR spot of a coffee company? Just sit comfortably in your armchair, lean back, relax, and watch!

@blade19899 Yeah, I figured. It's definitely not Unity though, the sizing's all off for the bars

1:37 PM
@RPiAwesomeness I knows! but still they got it working.
I got a project called NewOS, its to help people to choose their new OS. Might give zorin a try and post it there.
Code on github: NewOS

Nice!
I wish I had the internet speeds to do that stuff

Firefox on Windows makes the font there look way to choppy!
@RPiAwesomeness You don't have to. Create a virtual host. Work on a project till you get it stable, and at night , push it online. Wait till morning, and your all set.

@abhi : you cannot become a system's analyst without having been a programmer first...

@blade19899 True, that is a thought :) However, I was referring to the downloading of these ISOs. It takes me at least 12 hours of not using the internet at all to download a 4GB+ ISO

@ByteCommander: thank you for putting the videos in-line... @blade19899: after the first kitten, it got boring... :P

1:48 PM
@Fabby I was bored, so I posts boring stuff.
@RPiAwesomeness You can order CD's?

@blade19899 But that costs money (especially for Ubuntu - the shipping...O.O) and takes even longer.
@ByteCommander HOLY CRAP. The Heck was that all about? O.O

@RPiAwesomeness TOUGH LIFE BRO:(

@blade19899 Yeah, it sucks. I think I just need to move to England or Sweden when I get out of college.

@RPiAwesomeness Good luck!

Better shipping for Ubuntu stuff, closer to official RPi stuff (Jams and whatnot), cool accents, Tea, far superior internet... :D
They got it made over there!

1:53 PM
@blade19899: @RPiAwesomeness @Toroidal @ByteCommander : Do you think a question wizard for beginning users be a good idea?

@Fabby What version of Firefox are you using? O.o
Square tabs??

@Fabby YES!

IE users go home, you're drunk.
xD

Upvoted
@RPiAwesomeness Where did you read that?

@RPiAwesomeness: I like square better. It's a setting in colorful tabs...

1:55 PM
On Oli's post - the original wizard.
@Fabby Ah

Q: Alpha-testing a wizard

OliSo over the past few days I've put some of my time into building a wizard. It currently stands as a 515 line user-script. And it's really still just a tech demo. Before we go any further, a screenshot of what you'll see on the Ask page if you install it. If you're just joining us and have no ...

Yep, but have you tried it out?
It should be built into the system itself...
I mean: how hard can the algorithm be???

@Fabby No, I haven't, but it's a good idea

oh and use inline links... More efficient use of space!
(just one word before or after!) :P ;-)

@Fabby Definitely. Back before I reached the 2k level I was always editing links & images into inline.
Under 30 makes a lot of sense, or maybe we could do it for under 50 - comment rep.

leave a comment!

1:57 PM

Thank you!
I have a Siemens machine too!
Perfect question for me!

@blade19899 We had one of those with our Vista laptop.

2:11 PM
Oh, by the way, have you seen this Q&A? askubuntu.com/questions/577941/… :D
(or: how to convince a poster to do it your way! ;-)

2:25 PM
@Fabby Just came back from lunch. Yeah, wizard still sounds great, except of the work you have to put into it until it runs...

Well, that's for the developers at StackExchange to do...
I can write the software analysis for them! ;-)
