I want to write a simple shell script that will go into all the sub-folders in a directory, and organise the files in the sub-folders into new directories. Basically in terminal it would look like:
cd ../subfolder1
mkdir newfolder
mv *.txt newfolder
cd ../subfolder2
mkdir newfolder
mv *.txt newfo...

@Rinzwind It's just that I never had a flawless upgrade before, I'm finding this really weird. I usually take about an hour of fixing stuff after each upgrade.
@Dan I reinstalled 4 times and even went back to a dvd install :) I had the -weirdest- problems. 1 time it installed fine and when I restarted it stopped. On tty1 I could see my home but it was completely empty besides the examples.desktop file :D (no hidden files; nothing)
@Dan well, let me tell you that I had a server that upgraded from 10.04 to 11.10 without problems and my system upgraded from 13.04 to 13.10 without problems either
granted I don't use PPA's nor mess up with my installation
is a well known fact, the more packages you have to upgrade the more likely it will fail
I Want To Know If User is Online At A Time Or Not. So-that Commenting on Question And Answer Should be Effective.
Because User Profile Only Shows that User last seen : (Ex:30 Minutes Ago.) But It maybe online now.
And Luis isn't far behind. I'm looking forward to having four active users in the top-line of the users page.
To be honest, I'm slightly worried that izx averages higher than me on many days where I'm not doing anything... Even though they haven't posted anything new in 18 months. If I stopped posting, izx would overtake me in less than five years.
@RaduRădeanu No idea. I've used my moderator powers to work out who the person really is but they've stopped posted anywhere. They've dropped off the internet. You can draw your own conclusion from that but I simply don't know what happened to them.
@Rinzwind Yeah, there are a few efforts to notify various accounts of users' deaths but it's still not really something we're used to yet. It's hard enough to get people to leave a proper will, let alone work out how to properly handle hundreds of online accounts.
I think I found a few phone numbers but I think I'd be really overstepping if I called asking for them and something horrible had happened. "Oh I'm ever so sorry, I was just wondering if they'd be back to post more answers on our community website, but I'll let you get back to your grieving"... Pretty morbid stuff.
I doubt the room I'm physically in would get a rating. A *********king rawl plug has lost grip in a wall but the thing that's screwed into it is held against it by the other side of the cupboard this is all in... Which is itself held there by a bannister. I'm only trying to move a shelf but it looks like I'm going to have to dismantle the whole house (or cut through the shelf (which is itself not easy because there's only about 3" of space around this thing).
So are you on standard repository versions of everything now? Check apt-cache policy <package> for the various X packages and nvidia-* and make sure you're not on a later-than-candidate version... If you are you haven't run ppa-purge correctly.
