getting to just a grub prompt should be solve-able in much the same way. that's the best pointer i've got. i only touch those sorts of problems if i can actually touch the computer in question.
i don't know how i ever lived without anaconda... installs a bunch of pita stuff for you. makes a global venv for your user - so all pip installs magically happen there without sudo. loving it. i've only had 1 or 2 pathing problems for things with binary extensions i had installed globally.
@Virusboy you need exactly four points. submit two edits real quick and screenshot your rep ;)
@RPi_Awesomeness Please don't ping mass people for generic reasons, it's rather rude. If you ask for help and no one responds then it might be appropriate to ping one or two. Otherwise, please don't :)
@RPi_Awesomeness better than nothing. anaconda is a python distribution with loads of built-ins and a separate pseudo package manager for some of the really hard to install bits.
when i see something with tags: something that is tagged as something else, it makes me think spam-post from somewhere or another site hammering a stack-exchange site to get answers it wants.
Yeah, there's something going around here that starts as nasal drip, then turns in to dizziness/weakness/all-over-pain, then violent stomach problems, then pneumonia/bronchitis like symptoms. It's like a 3 week flu.
I want to class up my desktop with various widgets that tell me network bandwidth hdd usage during r/w and real time memory usage just to name a few. What a good way to go about that?
I honestly have no clue what could have caused this. I hadn't edited any configs, hadn't run any updates, hadn't done anything other than download games & play on Steam...
@Virusboy I'm using VMWare, no VBox, and all I did was increase the RAM. It works the first time but any subsequent boots it says it cannot do something with the hard drive and then Windows blue screens because it can no longer access the hard drive.
oh, and I think I should shout out to them(windows) for stopping support for xp :) , my friend just gave me about 8 p4-dualcore pc's, going to put ubuntu on them to donate for a library in liberia
Normally when one creates a linode, they choose a plan, and then deploy a linux distribution, and choose how much of the disk to allocate. Normally there is a swap partition and a main partition.
But once you do that, the filesystem is already created with a certain number of in odes! So how do ...
This is a follow up from this question:

Working on my system I noted that the root filesystem is mounted read-only. My system worked for months, today I get this error:
mount: warning: /etc/mtab is not writable (e.g. read-only filesystem).
Can you suggesting what to do?
I wonder why the root partition was mounted read-only and how ...
Running an rss stream is only half of it. You don't want to take the bandwidth to stream all that audio on your home network unless you have fiber or similar. Just saying.
nothing interesting? i was looking for a positive distraction from something i'm working out here. need to not think about it so my subconscious takes over and it fixes itself.
in other news, i got a weird linkedin request the other day... so i reactivated my account to check it out. seems like spam now that i'm activated though.
I'd like to know why begueradj is suspended, if possible. He claimed that after deleting some of his bad questions, he got suspended by mod. There is a post on Meta SO
Well, I don't think I deserve to know. However, he probably reserve the right to know the reason.
I want to install windows 10 64 bit but the my current verson of windows is 32 bit so it is unable to run the setup.exe file so booted into ubuntu 14.10 64 bit and installed qemu to use my current harddisk as virtual harddisk and the iso cdrom. This is the command I use

I had an issue where my internet connection killed itself, the terminal said everything that would normally say it works. But, when I rebooted the connection come how fixed it self.
@NathanOsman I think I had some that did that to people(but computers that didn't have switches on the back) they said it was broke but when I got there or the pc got to me it worked perfectly fine
