I think he downloaded files from sourceforge because that's how he's used to installing software on Windows. If you want a comparison of why Ubuntu boots fast in relation to Windows this is the wrong site. Super User might accept such a question however. If you feel the answers to the other question are outdated add a bounty. @Seth From a copy-editing perspective, yes. But I'm not sure it's true that a question about why Ubuntu boots fast in relation to Windows is off-topic for our site. The reason I think that question would probably be off-topic (to the extent to which it is asking about that) is that it doesn't give any numbers or citations for anything.

Since Ubuntu does not actually always boot faster than Windows, it's unclear what it's asking, and it hasn't identified what verifiable phenomena it's asking to be explained.

I think that someone is playing me a trick. Is possible that a LCD monitor have a "rainy" image (like when you unplug the cable from a old TV)? So, it is possible? Remember, is a LCD not a CRT.

it's possible to have a LCD monitor with funky colors

although that's more of a VGA problem, not a LCD

if you unplug a VGA cable weirdly, then it will lose the blue/green/red channels and be funky colors.
