@JoshPetrie Can I vote to close a question because it includes the answer?

aw, you should have included the answer in that question :|

user4704
2:13 AM
@AlexandreVaillancourt Not really, but you can edit the answer out and post it as such or suggest the OP do so.

8:50 AM
@AlexandreVaillancourt You should post the answer as community wiki though, so you don't "steal" rep

9:09 AM
Food reviews are ridiculously stupid
these guys go to fast food places, and eat out of their cars talkinga bout the food
But for some reason they all do it from inside their cars.

you obviously haven't lived then

That's pretty sick

i want to marry her
Holy shit... the owner of Drupal apparently went crazy
Huge rant about his personal sexual life.
"I also have adopted a few minor "cultural quirks" derived from the Gorean novels, as have many (but by no means all) Goreans. For instance, I often applaud single-handed, which is a cultural quirk from the book series, or say "be well" or "I wish you well" to end a conversation. "

9:36 AM
"Yes, I have been involved in several consensual Master/slave relationships with women. I will continue to do so, but only with those who are also interested in such relationships. "
well alrighty then

it is super long.
basically he was outed for having this dominance over woman approach to sex or something and felt he had to clear it up
Gorean it is called... which apparently comes from sci-fi novels
Basically, none of anyones business, but here we are on the internet.

bit sad that people felt like ridiculing him
yeah

Drupal sucks regardless.

Here is the other side of the story -- the guy that wants him gone
"I can tell you that those who have reviewed Larry's writing, including me, suffered from varying degrees of shock and concern."
"The Gorean philosophy promoted by Larry is based on the principle that women are evolutionarily predisposed to serve men and that the natural order is for men to dominate and lead."
Don't you just love it when people get offended for others like that?

9:42 AM
that's like an employer not liking an employee for their religious beliefs

Not only that, but you don't see these people freaking out over islamic beliefs, which is literally Gorean
I think the main issue is how vocal he is about his lifestyle choices -- he constantly writes about it
Keep it private and there would not be this problem.

let the triggering ensue
yeah

I mean clearly, look at how long his blog post is abnout it :)

:P
I was wondering if synchronously running code through a gpu for things like collision detection and procedural generation is plausible?

@Chris From what I know, if it's a single pass at the beginning of a program, or a stage, you can get benefits from running it on the gpu, but if it's per-frame, the benefits get thinner as you have to get the data back. Most GPUs nowadays can do that, but not efficiently.

10:52 AM
@AlexandreVaillancourt ah cool thanks, so for initial generation, but your saying real-time it would be very unstable?

11:02 AM
Well for generation it would probably work, but for collision detection/response, you might not have much gain. (At least for the collisions that you care about; i.e. if you don't care about the position of particles and they don't impact the rest of the simulation, you could have some gains in doing it on the GPU because nothing has to come back to the CPU).

GPUs are fast by having very deep pipelines and doing things asynchronously from the CPU. If you want to do things every frame you best send the data at the start of the logic update and retrieve it near the end
Which is pretty hard because there's not a lot to do without collision information generally

found a library gpu.js that does exactly that
watching video in asian now

Asian isn't a language

So that's recorded in asia but in english =p

11:12 AM
ye sorry typo
It's better than hindi I guess
I'm sure they teach in different ways, I learn better from East Europeans
in programming

11:45 AM
yay, modular bodies and class types and weapons and shields are in

People are really trying to make javascript faster
That gpu.js project isn't even javascript anymore, but a javascript to glsl converter
I really hope WebAssembly gets into a usable state in the next couple years.

DH.
12:39 PM
Why you want to program Assembly in the first place?

You don't. You want to make WebAssembly programs that get compiled from other languages like C++

DH.
1:16 PM
Oh, so it's about running the compiled stuff from other languages

yeah

user92578
1:57 PM
Finals done! I'm a free man!

DH.
Yay! Now release GunHero :D

user92578
exactly!

user92578
fulltime game dev for a few months!

Do you know the release date yet?

user92578
nope, I'll try to figure out one asap so that I can get my store page public

2:04 PM
cool
why not release it at Assembly Summer 2017?
You could get it into the gamedev compo
maybe

user92578
I don't want to wait that long, also if that's in July I'll hopefully be in the army then

DH.
Oh shit, you said and I was like "but man summer just ended", but I always forget that I'm one of a few who live on south hemisphere

it's the first weekend on august

user92578
definitely later than what I'm looking at then

DH.
"Hopefully", you want to serve the army?

2:07 PM
alright

user92578
I have to, so I'd like to get it over with before uni

@DH. it's mandatory in finland

user92578
I'm applying for special forces, so if I get in, I'll join in summer, otherwise the next summer

user92578
Anyways I'm trying to figure out what Steam means by "Suitable for all ages", seems like a huge mess

DH.
It's mandatory here too, but I didn't serve because of excess in the camp of my city

user92578
2:08 PM
Like the game has guns literally in every screenshot, does that make them violent?

yeah
you shoot -> it's violent

user92578
fuck me

bullets hit enemies -> even worse

DH.
You have even blood, how is your game not violent? lol

@DH. you're weird

user92578
2:09 PM
Well blood is obviously a no-go

There, I said it

user92578
but I have screenshots with guns and no blood

DH.
@KevinvanderVelden RACIST :C

Just look at screenshots of other games
@DH. nuhhuh, locationist
Or possibly hemispherist

but it's not a pefrect sphere!

DH.
2:10 PM
Some sort of xenophobic

user92578
well I took a look at broforce: guns, swords, explosions, blood in all of them

user92578
chris has axes and stuff except for a few menu screenshots

user92578
or wait maybe he has somehow hidden the suitable ones

@DH. naah, I'm fine with people from there, I'm just not fine with people that are there

user92578
like this is probably as non-violent as my screenshots can go:

user92578
2:15 PM

user92578
WHY AREN'T THERE ANY GUIDELINES ANYWHERE

DH.
Oh if screenshots can't be violent, that explains why some FPS have just the player facing standstill enemies that neither of them are shooting

2 hours later…
4:38 PM
@Tyyppi_77 Does cartoon violence count?

user92578
I have no idea

user92578
I clicked the images without blood as suitable and sent the page to review, so in a few days I'll know

That probably means "We don't want to make a filter to stop kids seeing blood and/or gore, so it's your responsibility"
@Tyyppi_77 If I recall correctly, some of the MK screenshots had the x-ray damage cams in them
You can't do worse

DH.
Well... broken bones isn't really violence per se

There's a screenshot where scorpion rips out the heart of another guy
I think
I never played Mortal Kombat X before
Oh, one question about english, do you write "a another" or just "another"?

user4704
4:51 PM
"another"

Hi Josh, thanks

an other became another in time

user4704
"another" is both a determiner and a pronoun.

user92578

user92578
Totally overusing my capsule theme, but what do you think?

user4704
4:53 PM
Are you two-spacing after your sentences?!?!

user92578
lol the scroller is broken so I just fixed with with some spaces

the logo is crooked.

user92578
it does a cool rotate and scale

user4704
Okay then.

user4704
Carry on.

user92578
4:54 PM

I still have to get my english better, I just recently learned that when people pronounce "ashphalt" they say "esh-falt" and not "es-falt". I never made a connection between it and ash.

i say assfault

That's basically how my language pronounces it
What I never understood, is why you pronounce queue as "kju". Even if you're generous, and say "Q" is pronounce as "k", then you're still leaving out 4 letters

No, no. Q is pronounced as "Queue" and you say Q when you want to say Queue.

I wanted to say that

5:01 PM
Also, cue sounds exactly the same to me lol
I sometimes think I'm lucky to have a language that's written as it is read, but then I remember half my life was spent under the rule of Erdogan...

We pronounce everything as we write too
Well, almost, some letters turn to a different one when there's a hard letter behind it (like k or p) and, e.g. n becomes m
But that's pure laziness

Do you have those people who can't pronounce what they read, even though it's the same as it's written or people who can't spell stuff even though they can say them out loud?

We have 44 characters, there is no need for stuff like eaux to say a long "o"
@JohnHamilton No, we don't intentionally make these changes, they are there because it's easier to pronounce it that way
Maybe there could be problems on the spelling part, but not much

naw naw
for example we have a word that means garlic which is written as "sarımsak" but people pronounce it "sarmısak" I have no idea why and I correct them at every turn. some get annoyed as hell lol

Excuse me for not recognising, but which language is that?
I guess either Russian or Ukrainian

5:13 PM
Turkish
and yeah, I don't blame you, we've been sort of an asshole to everybody for 15 years...
well our government has

Screw you John!
spits friggen turkey
i'm gonna come over and visit
teach you some canadian manners

I'm gonna move to Canada by the end of the year if all goes well
by the end of next year at the very worst I hope

wanna hang out?

trying to get a school there right now :D
yeah sure, if I can manage the process well and actually come over xD
also, if anyone is ever in Turkey/Istanbul, hit me up, I might be able to show you a few places (not a traveler but ehh)

DH.
There still some heavy shit going on Turkey right?

5:19 PM
I might go to konstantinople

oh yeah
the situation is much worse now that Erdo wants to bring presidency as the governmental style
that's literally against the constitution
He would get a lifetime of prison sentence if he ever got his immunity revoked
many others in the government as well...
So, don't come to Turkey, but if you do, you can message me. I'm actually pretty easy to reach xD
On a lighter note, I'm making some progress on my game from the time I got remaining from job hunting and trying to get out of the country :D

you are allowed to create games >?

oh yeah, but paypal is banned lol
so I'm pretty limited in terms of payment options

i'll sell it for you

we're not a dictatorship, yet.
oh it's on google play already, I can get payments to my bank account but I can't use stuff like itch.io or individual sales with promotion codes, ehh it's still a better life than some other countries I guess...
also our equivalent of the "IRS" is not really doing its job, so most of my payments go under the radar

DH.
5:30 PM
Why not itch.io?

they require paypal and another payment option which is also not available here
I mean either one, and I sent them a mail for a solution but they just didn't care enough to reply I guess

DH.
Itch.io supports PayPal and Bitcoin so far right?

as payment options, yeah I think so. as payout options, I only see paypal right now

DH.
Hm

ehh it's not a big problem, my business partner is in canada and we'll put the next game on there too at it's hatching stages
this one was almost complete so I didn't want to put it there

DH.
6:02 PM
And whats the problem to put your game there?

Does steam have an API to DL curator's game lists?

user4704
Afaik, no.

user4704
Nothing in their public documentation suggests they do. You'll probably have to scrape the HTML

sup guys. Happy Friday.

what about me?

6:15 PM
typo

DH.
kek

ah I see you too worship a ancient god of chaos by getting repeating digits :D

DH.
Very close, but no

@JoshPetrie How difficult is that gonna be do you think?

user4704
I dunno, probably a pain.

6:29 PM
@JoshPetrie any chance someone already did this? is there a great big steam scrape somewhere?

user4704
I have no idea, it's not something I care about at all.

have a heart

user92578
7:05 PM

Probably not enough ROI on it versus all of the rest of what steam is

user92578
"I released <link to my game> yesterday and I found it super beneficial to not have the game instantly crash. What do you think?"

DH.
That was some shameless self plug

7:51 PM
I will try steamspy and steamdb.info.

8:22 PM
sweet
