10:01 PM
How have I never seen the ?? operator before
2

If it makes you feel better, neither have I

ahhaah

Alright that does make me feel a little better :P

I didn't see it until... maybe last year.
so yeah don't feel bad about it :)
@jon I can't get Velocity Over Lifetime to work
I think I need it to set the Z velocity to 0
no matter what I put in there, it doesn't seem to have any effect on the particles

Hey do you guys remember the game that you are responsible of making a "factory"?
It's 2d top down game... dang I can't remember name of it

10:11 PM
looks fun

The game is all about automatic the process of making stuff. A simple concept amazing game.

infinifactory
I like its smaller scope
and no enemies

I imagine you can disable enemies

oh it has enemies. Enemies don't seem to add much weight but they are a gentle push to motivate players to advance far enough to defend themselves.

Factorio is fun but gets too much of the same fast

10:26 PM
I guess so. You get more refined and find the optimized strategy.
Still, I want to make something like that. Sim games get me so high.

@OMGtechy You can

tis tempting
@Lokkij also, did you notice that I've started the Sacul compiler? :D

You revoked my access to the repository, remember? :P

Nope, I open sourced it so you no longer need special rights :D

Ah awesome :D

10:31 PM
Documentation for the core language is enough to go on at the moment, it's nowhere near complete still, but I can polish it up over time.

The compiler's called Lucas?

Yes :)
Sacul is my sons name backwards, my son is called Lucas :P

Yeah I figured
Why isn't it written in haskell though? >:-)

Could make a linter called Chloe that shouts angrily at you if you don't follow conventions and such
or maybe I should name the test suite Chloe ...

Hahaha

10:33 PM
and because I will be using LLVM, so C++ is the natural choice :P
@Lokkij if you want to contribute, now is a very good time to get started :D

I have not much time, no knowledge of compilers, and no knowledge of C++
So I have to decline :P

There's documentation? :P

I don't know man, I'm busy now and I'll be way busier when college begins

tis cool
Well, I've made this should you ever become interested: sacul.slack.com

Got accepted into college with programming as my masters :)
7

10:41 PM
Congrats! :D

Well done

Awesome! :D

Thanks! :D

Can I interpret that as "I've finished my bachelor and will now do a master in programming"?
@OMGtechy Cool
I've never used Slack before

I use it at work. I've made that to reserve the name more than anything aha

10:48 PM
@Lokkij yay :D Doing my best to undo my extremely stupid past self
@Jon Sure :D I'll do my best to help you if u want =^.^=

11:06 PM
(though people in the reviews seem to be upset by the required internet connection, and, strangely, the unclear release date?)

@Lokkij No I'm starting my bachelor.. I think. Don't really know the translation

Alright

Yeah it's my bachelor. Just looked it up sorry about that, but I got into college nevertheless :D

Yeah awesome :D
Why the hell does my university have its own hotel?

11:22 PM
Lots of foreigners?

I guess

Man I'm excited to start. I've never felt like this about school before :D

Yeah college sounds way more fun than high school :D
Though I do occasionally fear I haven't chosen the right study

Yeah :/

Ben
Guys you gotta help

11:31 PM
what are we, superheroes?

to the rescue!

Ben
Does anyone know if having one asset bundle per asset in Unity is a bad idea?

I haven't used asset bundles much, dunno

Ben
Well, from what I can see, you can't load a single file from an asset bundle without loading the entire thing which is pretty wasteful. Seems like a pretty big flaw with asset bundles

11:49 PM
Yeah.. I had the same impression with them @Ben
Haven't used them since

Ben
What do you use? @Hjorthenify

Some lightning pack where I wanted to see the shader
Had to open the whole bundle in my project just to see it

Ben
Wait, at runtime?

I would say that's a pro for asset bundles, not a con. It allows Unity to organize the bundle's contents sequentially, dramatically decreasing load time (on HDDs) for assets that are often loaded together. You just need to be aware of it and don't use bundles for things they're not meant for.
but then, I don't use Unity, and I'm not really familiar with bundles. I'm only speaking on what it sounds like to me.
