12:00 AM
You could help me find either short videos (10 - 30 seconds) or images for different english grammar phrases.

Nevermind that sounds DUMBBB

Or I have precalc

I'm in pre-calc

Actually, I should probably do that myself, I need practice.

EASY YO

12:01 AM
I can send you some assignments from my AP book if you want. I have already done them, but you can get an idea :)

OH YEAH DO IT

@Serial Like I said, it's super easy. 2-7, go for it.

those are easy!
it would be easier for me in python

@hasherr Maybe you should just write a game that proves that you can do all of that no problem.

You should challenge the teacher to a programming duel and win and rule the class

12:10 AM
LOL.
Challenge them to a quake tournament.
Like notch.

Send me an in-browser quake game and I'll totally do it.
Last year we had regular starwhal tournaments.

Call a teacher and pose as a IT guy, ask for there Username and Password, you now have admin privileges, create a back-door to the schools server system, so you can come back, now shutdown all the computers classroom by classroom, then give the school an ultimatum. tell them you want a guaranteed 4.0 GPA or you will unleash an army of viruses

@hasherr Quake Live man

lol cuz that won't backfire

THEY WONT FIND YOU MAN
they cant

12:15 AM
lol I'll be in the bathroom with a laptop or some shit

exactly, aand you will have an administrators username and pass, they wont know its you

Imagine all the shit I could do. Blare porn through the intercom, lock all computers and delete all student files, and shut the power off all over the school.
They'd call me a terrorist and put me in prison lol

12:46 AM
This look like a mouth outline?
For games, do you keep the eyes as a separate object so that you can move it around?

user4704
@William 'MindWorX' Mariager Take a look at: gamedev.stackexchange.com/questions/82288/…

@hasherr What part are you at in precalc?

@OutlawLemur Lol factoring

1:08 AM
Oh... I hate that so much:P

Why? It's so easy.

what does one do about a question that basically says "I'm not good enough can you do it for me?" - gamedev.stackexchange.com/questions/82291/…
I don't see a close reason that applies well

Hello every 1!!!

2 hours later…
3:06 AM
just verified that you must play co-op vs bots when you make a new league account.
once you hit Level 3, you can play vs players
that's not a whole lot of games played

3:31 AM
@SethBattin I looked at the question, got excited, then said, "Actually, for that task he's probably best of using just cylindrical sprites". My system's a little over-the-top, even for what I'm doing with it.

Well pong might take about 3 months or more to finish.
Since I am trying to my best ^

@PsychOPhobiA Pong shouldn't take 3 months. What on earth are you doing?

3:54 AM
It takes a long time to fabricate those solid titanium paddles. ;)

Noctrine's "I think that from now on, when people say they want to do things the hardest way possible. I'm going to say "Cool" and move on." should be a permastar

(Side-note: Really annoying that the rectangle which players move up and down, and also the circular controller which players spin in order to make the rectangle move up and down, are both called "paddle"s. Way to make it easy to talk about Pong, designer guys.
So I dropped off my laptop for a service about two hours ago (am currently on secondary computer). Needed to have the screen replaced because of reasons. Depending on whom I talked to, they said that it would take either one day, or three-five days, but everyone agreed that they'd give me a call when it was done. Just this moment got a call. Two hour screen repair, whee. Makes me wish I hadn't bothered to drive home again.

4:11 AM
@TrevorPowell well the orignal pong doesn't actually name the items
just says "Avoid missing ball to score"

Sort of make it the original Beat-em-up game, yes? "Punch your opponent to win!"
(True story: In the Wii version of Star Wars: Force Unleashed, they wanted to add a competitive two-player Jedi fighting game as an extra mode. I suggested that the game rule be that each player uses a Wii Remote, and if anyone presses the 'A' button on a player's remote, that player is out of the game. I can't imagine why they rejected my game design. ;) )
(In truth, I have the bad habit of making absurd statements with an utterly straight face, just to see who gets taken in by them. This means that when I have a genuinely awesome idea, like the Jedi duelling one above, it maybe gets misinterpreted as another absurd suggestion, when actually it's the Most Awesome Idea Ever.)

:)

4:38 AM
@PsychOPhobiA are you a bot?

5:03 AM
@TrevorPowell LOL.
@AttackingHobo No, he isn't.
Are you really a hobo?
Why are you attacking me?

they have all these cool "quotes" praising their game.
I thought it was so cool, that I would love to have one as well. So I just added some random cool praising quotes in mine as well.

@BlueBug is that game originally yours?
I mean the starred one

the starred one is mine but it is not "original" it is rather a copy of another game with just different clothe on it.

I guess it was mentioned in this room a while ago but it was all black and white

^ here is the original

5:17 AM
@TrevorPowell Do you work there?

@AidanMueller :/
@BlueBug cool looking gameplay but the sounds are kind of grating
way too much speaker popping

@AttackingHobo What's with the slash-face?

:/
:|/

Is that all that you are going to do?
Just spit out random emoticons?

#AttackingHobo Yes it's got that um... "retro"? feeling. That seems like general penetrating theme in his games; all his games got that "zzzzzz" sound and mono color hue.

5:20 AM
Emoti-diarrhea?

retro games had good sound design, not 16 bit audio that is distorted to hell

I don't know what to call it TBH xD

@AttackingHobo Please explain what you meant.

3 mins ago, by AttackingHobo
@AidanMueller :/

5:22 AM

I am finding this absolutely hilarious btw

(laughing chuckling here as well)

There we go.
Got it right this time 8{

5:41 AM
@AidanMueller

Pip
nice

TOO MUCH WIGGLE
could not take off
Part of it got into the air at least

@AidanMueller "There" doesn't exist any more; the studio making the game went under about four or five years back. But I did work there at the time, yes.
(caveat: Yes, the company changed its name immediately before going into receivership, and a sister-company took over the trading name of the company that went under without paying people their entitlements. And so from a certain point of view, the company still exists. But only if you're just counting the name, and not the actual company.)

6:00 AM
@JoshPetrie I'll take a look. :)

Gotta close some tabs. My cpu was up to 100 C.

@Pip I got it into the air

Pip
nice!

I have now reinforced it
last flight wing broke off

@AttackingHobo What is with you and these stupid designs?

6:09 AM
@AidanMueller whats with you hating fun?

@AttackingHobo What's with you not telling me what you meant by
52 mins ago, by AttackingHobo
@AidanMueller :/

Why is firefox using 1 giga byte of memory?

Pip

@Pip Not that many. Only a few.
Must be a memory leak.
All I know is that my computer shouldn't be running at 100° C.
BOILING HOT!
I should make a virus that melts your cpu :P

@AidanMueller sort the cpu

What?

in task manager
sort by cpu

6:23 AM
Like which cpu is causing it?

sort the programs by their cpu usage

Oh. Did that.
It was iceweasel (firefox).
I'm down to 60 again.

2 hours later…

Not much lads, just working away.
I'm the only one in the office today, kinda relaxing with the GOTG soundtrack.

@BlueBug I meant to mention that there's some minor inconsistencies with your google play package, on my device it installs with a Unity icon and the app is called "UnitySheepAndWolf"

10:43 AM
Good afternoon :)

11:22 AM
woot, I can review low quality posts now

2 hours later…
user92578
12:59 PM
Hmm, the same line that excecutes twice only chrashes at the second time, and I don't do anything for the data between...

Pip
1:22 PM
@Blue tips hat

this is hilarious. comedian Adam Hills took a few digs at Westboro, and as part of that he said he'd pay to fly the entire church to Iraq to protest the people beheading christians there. the video went viral, and it was funny and all... but now it looks like the church has accepted. dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2731413/…
Hills is supposed to respond today

Give them one way tickets, problem solved

a few of them are lawyers. they have the money, if they want to use it.

user92578
FOR THE LOVE OF GOD, CHRASH IN SOME ELSE PLACE, WOULD YOU?!?!

no idea what kind of psycho would want a westboro baptist lawyer...

1:29 PM
Hahahah @KevinvanderVelden, That genuinely made me laugh!

lol @Tyyppi_77 sounds like memory corruption

user92578
Sounds like access violation

If it were a straightforward access violation, then the place it crashes should be a straightforward pointer to the bug

user92578
So basicaly this is the line what chrashes (on my side. the actual like that is violating access is in TinyXML2):

user92578
for (tinyxml2::XMLElement* valueElement = m_SettingsElement->FirstChildElement(); valueElement != NULL; valueElement = valueElement->NextSiblingElement())

user92578
1:32 PM
And this works great when excecuted in the constructor

user92578
But this will throw the access violation:

user92578
/*
Returns the xml element with the given tag name.
*/
tinyxml2::XMLElement* GameSettings::GetXMLElementWithTagName(const std::string tagName)
{
	// Loops over the elements in the file.
	for (tinyxml2::XMLElement* valueElement = m_SettingsElement->FirstChildElement(); valueElement != NULL; valueElement = valueElement->NextSiblingElement())
	{
		if (strcmp(valueElement->Value(), tagName.c_str()) == 0)
		{
			return valueElement;
		}
	}
	return nullptr;
}

user92578
Any ideas why this might happen? or a way to make this happen in another place?

check m_SettingsElement

user92578
It exists

1:42 PM
Well got the main part of pong done
Now I got to code all my pieaces

@PsychOPhobiA keep it up

Can I show you guys a picture of it first?

user92578
sure

Sorry, can't help it

user92578
I post meaningles screenshots all the time, don't worry :)

1:44 PM
^ He does
;)

Seriously... ALL THE TIME

Are you by chance accidentally making pinball instead?
Which is fine.... just curious :)

user92578

user92578
1:46 PM
See?

I never played pong my self but I guess bouncing the ball around is what pong is about?

^ pong. Basically it's digital tennis

Oh gawd! ^
My game looks way better
No wall, just black and white?

Well to be fair pong came out in 1972
I would hope graphics technology has improved in 40 years

Ironically, pong wasn't digital at first :P

1:49 PM
I only recall seeing the than -> then mistake recently, like maybe in the last year or two, and it seems to be getting more prevalent.

user92578
@PsychOPhobiA Rule of GameDev #1: Don't ever question Pong

not referring to anyone here
just keep seeing it

@Tyyppi_77 hehe

have you by any chance seen this: eriksvedang.com/world-of-pong

@Almo There, their, they're my dear Almo. It will be ok

1:52 PM
Wow!
That suck playing a game and then you just realized you were talking to bots
That does make me feel a bit lonely

I hate it when that happens

lol I did that in TERA

I would say it happened to me most often in Diablo 2
I eventually caught on that anyone in charge of Baal runs was a bot though and stopped trying

priest-dude is like "stay close to me, I'll heal you" so I'm like "okay" then I try to invite him to my party and I'm not able to. it took me a minute to figure out why. XD
was an NPC, not a player-bot
even worse

@SpartanDonut sniff

1:55 PM
... ^

user92578
1.5 days spent on this access violation: still no progress :)

Well can I make pinball then?

user92578
Rule of GameDev #2: Always make Pong :)

Stop making up rules ^

user92578
IM NOT MAKING THEM ITS THE KING OF GAMEDEV

1:59 PM
the library I maintain here is officially the first library to feature unit tests
feels good man
#quality

Where you come from my lady? ^

the land of vampires >:)
transylvania in romania

^ man, fyi

What is fyi!

"for your information"

2:01 PM
I keep seeing that on tv and stuff
oh.
Dish has a channel called FYI
Guess it means "For Your Information" to.
Why is my school teaching me all this weird stuff about bodies .....
Not to be rude here but seriously its boring ^

user92578
Does XML keep/care about the letter sizes?

@PsychOPhobiA because you have one, go ahead and learn about computers and eventually cars too
Nobody else will do it for you

@Tyyppi_77 that's like asking if HTML cares about the letter sizes

@MickLH have what?

I don't see what XML has to do with letter sizes

user92578
2:05 PM
So <Settings> != <settings>?

@Tyyppi_77 the term is "Case Sensitive"

user92578
Right

user92578
return m_SettingsElement->FirstChildElement(); So this is throwing the access violation

Noctrine changed here image
I liked that picture. That nice looking purple thing with some weird eyes!

2:07 PM
@Tyyppi_77 oh right

user92578

how do you guys find these pictures?
I am still curious

user92578
I make them

user92578

You copy and paste into some software and add text to them?
Hehe that's neat

user92578
2:12 PM
No, the link I posted

user92578
You choose the image, and it opens a page that allows you to write the texts and then it uploads it to imgur

I have question for you guys
How is a proxy going to work if I am connected to a network?

it encrypts your data, sends it to the proxy server, then decrypts it and sends it to the target
target sends data back to the proxy server, which then encrypts it again and sends it back to you

user92578
Ah, it's not opening the settings file now.

Those proxy sites blocked too lol

2:15 PM
@PsychOPhobiA take a look it this too memegenerator.net

I am always trying to get my way through these parental controls

while the data is encrypted your ISP will know it's from you, but they won't know what the data contains. then after the proxy decrypts it, the proxy's ISP will know what the data contains, but they'll think it came from the proxy server, not you.

user92578
Ah, it's opening the settings file.

user92578

Dude you posting random images ^

user92578
2:19 PM
Nope.

Every time we talk you have a image you have to uplaod.

user92578

Spider-man? Is he really complaining about fixing evil bugs?
I just put my spider web in the computer and fix it.

....and that's wh- So how's that pong working out?

user92578
You really don't know memes, do you @PsychOPhobiA?

2:23 PM
No.
@MickLH Uh... stuggeling on this code

Probably should google how to shot web

there are waaay too many questions about silly mistakes with AABB collision, and they all make different mistakes, so it's hard to report any of them as duplicates.
anyone want to just write a question, "How do I do AABB collision?"

community wiki
then just kinda force that wiki to be the target for all the nub-dupes :P
Unless you're trying to game the system
Lol I could write up a question about AABB collision and you could answer it

user92578
Aight, now I'm deep in the TinyXML2 code and it's really hard to find the bug without knowing the code base

nah I can answer my own question too. using it as a target for dupe flags is what I was thinking. I'm just too lazy to type. :D

2:31 PM
@Tyyppi_77 I think you're debugging in a weird place

user92578
Why?

are you sure that the m_SettingsWhatever has a valid pointer

user92578
How do I check for validness?

One of the (parallel) theories I have is that maybe your pointer is nonzero because it's uninitialized

user92578
The master XMLTag seems to exist (it looks like a valid and existing memory adress)

user92578
2:33 PM
so m_SettingsElement seems to exist

user92578
Well not actually

user92578
Or is it normal that every member variables has it's value set to ????? when viewwing in the debug mode?

see that also supports that theory

user92578
So somehow it's not valid?

how did you generate the pointer?
another (parallel) theory I have is that you deleted it already but left the pointer dangling

user92578
2:37 PM
This is the constructor code:

user92578
	tinyxml2::XMLDocument settingsFile;
	int error = settingsFile.LoadFile(settingsFileName.c_str());
	if (error)
	{
		std::cout << "File loading failed." << error << std::endl;
	}

	// Gets the settings element.
	m_SettingsElement = settingsFile.FirstChildElement("Settings");

and does TinyXML delete it for you, or do you do that manually?
brb

user92578
I have no idea

Q: Does Allah commit shirk?

Klutch(Legit questions, looking for answers) According to Islam, shirk is the worst sin you can possibly commit, the only unforgivable sin. Shirk is associating partners with Allah. OMG IT TOTALLY WORKS NOW

Thank you so much @MickLH

lol this formatting: http://gamedev.stackexchange.com/questions/82330/how-to-load-tanim-files-in-maya-mac
it looks like he's trying to hide an advertisement in the question somehow
it may be a good question. just amusing.

user92578
haha

@MickLH holy shit, u r right. It gets installed as "UnitySheepAndWolf" ;_; let me fix that
