Q: Why did they use shallow focus on Ed Warren's role while taking to the demon?

user40246In The Conjuring 2 (2016), Janet is given water and told not to swallow it. The demon has complained that he will answer to the question if they don't see them in face. So Ed Warren turns his back and questions the demon. So why did they use shallow focus technique on Ed Warren's role while taki...

Q: Electrocuting a worm on slot car track

AaganrmuSomething I saw on TV in The Netherlands and stuck to me ever since. It was live action, with the typical older actors playing high school(?) kids. I saw it in or after 1989, as I saw Moontrap earlier and it gave me some bad nightmares, but before 1995. It was in colour. The spoken language was p...

@KutuluMike What changed your mind on this?
Elaborating on the reason for this change of mind (preferably in a comment) might help others to understand why the question is suddenly worth reopening albeit not having changed.

12:48 PM
because phantom gave a concrete, objective answer.

So the presence of an answer changes the question's validity?

yes.
a question that has a single objectively correct answer is, by definition, not "opinion based"

@Ixrec I hope you don't eat our logo
To me that question is bleh, I downvoted (reversed now) it but I was not into closing it as I did know the answer which phantom42 presented. But I am in no mood to open it either. Lets community decide it's fate

I tried to rephrase it a little then, to tone down the speculation.

Q: When was Elliot sent to prison?

vianna77At what point was Elliot sent to prison? By the end of Season 1, he was not in prison, right? So it happened somewhere during the Season 2. I guess at some point it will be explained "why" he was sent to prison, yet, there is a lot of history happening with him, like the entire Ray arc for inst...

In general, answers don't validate questions, questions validate questions. If an answer suddenly shows you how great a question is, that's fine, but then you might want to help others to see what was missing from the question on first sight by actually improving it. A plain unedited question reopen-voted for no reason hardly gets through the queue alive.
@KutuluMike Do you also happen to see sense in the last part of the question that suddenly talks about season 1? Is that a typo of season 3 or is there really some weird timetravel bullshit that connects this to season 1?
Or alternatively @AnkitSharma since you know about Flash, too.

Must be mistake from asker's side

Ok, fixed.

Got one more Reopen vote

And from another former close-voter. This looks pretty good so far.

agreed

We have no question on Legion film, so i think that plain tag is free for x-men show

If it's called that.

So Hellfire x-men show is dropped now and there is untitled one in it's places, means that fox is not going yo lose any chance to make money
Legion is an upcoming American science fiction television series created for FX by Noah Hawley, based on the Marvel Comics character of the same name. Produced by Marvel Television and FX Productions, it is the first series by Marvel Television to not be set in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The series acts as a stand-alone installment in the X-Men franchise, with Legion being a mutant like the characters in the X-Men feature films. Producers have stated that the series will take place in a parallel-universe to the main film series, thus being set within an alternate timeline. Among others, Bryan...

Q: Anime about adults turning into children

alamarSaw it mid-90s. It was a an animated feature film, anime, I assume it was Japanese. @NapoleonWilson I do care to see who is on the top and where I stand ;)

It's Nolan's Equilibrium in WB!! I really love the actions ;))

Didn't checked it

1:58 PM
I don't understand that sentence.

@NapoleonWilson I mean , I am concerned about who is on the top and where I stand among them

Ok, seriously, where was this actually linked? It hasn't been active for 4 months but I received 3 upvotes just today.

Don't look at me "."

@AnkitSharma No, I mean that other sentece, from MAFIA36790. ;-)

@NapoleonWilson WB is a television channel name, He means Nolan's Equilibrium is airing on WB
I am sure you know what second part of his message means ;D

2:02 PM
@AnkitSharma Oh, so what is Nolan's Equilibrium then? Does it have anything to do with the 2002 movie Equilibrium?

user116211
@AnkitSharma Equilibrium ?

user116211
@NapoleonWilson yep.

@MAFIA36790 But why u said nolan?

@AnkitSharma Oops. Sorry ;P

user116211
I was about to say Bale's ;P

2:05 PM
@MAFIA36790 Oh, in this case, Nolan had no involvement in that film.

@MAFIA36790 Sorry se kaam nahi chalega murga ban na padega

@NapoleonWilson yeh; sorry; I always correlate him with Bale ;/ Thanks to the trilogy.

Equilibrium is a 2002 American dystopian science fiction film written and directed by Kurt Wimmer and starring Christian Bale, Emily Watson, and Taye Diggs. The film follows John Preston (Bale), an enforcement officer in a future in which both feelings and artistic expression are outlawed and citizens take daily injections of drugs to suppress their emotions. After accidentally missing a dose, Preston begins to experience emotions, which makes him question his own morality and moderate his actions while attempting to remain undetected by the suspicious society in which he lives. Ultimately, he...

@NapoleonWilson Hindi written in English script might have no chance for translation

@AnkitSharma Sure, but in this case it usually just repeats the same sentence again. I've never seen it refuse to answer.

ohhh so edit don't work and you have to use real script of that language
@MAFIA36790 write "translate: चोर" and it will give it's English translation in chat automatically as "(from Hindi) Thief"
@NapoleonWilson maybe function refuses when he don't get it

@AnkitSharma For you, yes.

Done with my franchise tag wiki update for now

@steelerfan May I ask you how you came to talk about this with him?

3:24 PM
The manner in which Bane gains his abilities is more accurate in Batman & Robin, but they depict the Venom chemical as making him insane and possibly made dumber, only capable of carrying out simple orders/commands.
Overall Bane has typically been depicted as a very intelligent character, very wise and with some kind of code of ethics.
I feel his depiction in Secret Six when it was handled by writer Gail Simone is one of his best portrayals. He's capable of terrible things but she shows he can be very caring and protective.

@AnkitSharma What's happening right now? Mr."I don't really like Tim Burton or his movies" now has Edward Scissorhands as his avatar! WUT?!?! ;)

@steelerfan When did I said I don't really like Tim burton's film, I said he is hit and miss for me and stand by that statement

13 hours ago, by steelerfan
I was going on how stupid Batman & Robin was and he was telling me that they were more accurate with Bane than in The Dark Knight Rises. I seriously thought that he was joking ;)
@NapoleonWilson ^^
@AnkitSharma Well, I think that it's awesome that you liked one of his films so much that you changed your avatar!
@MattD Apparently venom is supposed to be addicting and he gets physically addicted to it...
@NapoleonWilson Because I love spending my free time discussing the back story of characters in super hero movies. It's the best ;)

3:45 PM
Well, I thought the painkiller idea was a very good take on venom and very accurate given the universe it had to work in.

They are playing the older Batman movies on HBO right now for some reason. For some other reason, they are playing the sh*t out of Batman&Robin. My nephew loves poison ivy, so I told him that it was on the other day and that I saw his girl friend. I also didn't realize that the Bane character was in that at all and I asked him about the tubes and stuff and what the deal was with him.
...that's how that conversation came to be...
He said that the combination of both Bane's would have been best.
I immediately regretted my decision of even asking because I got a two hour backstory about it ;)

So pretty much like Arkham Origins?

@NapoleonWilson Sounds more like heroin (which is still an opiate painkiller) but, more potent and more addictive.
@NapoleonWilson I have no idea.

They used the whole mercenary thing and depicted a quite Hardyesque Bane (upto employing the guy who dubbed him in the German version of TDKR), that slowly transforms into Venom-monster-Bane during the course of the story.

@NapoleonWilson Anyways...when I wanted to tell you something on the phone, but I couldn't remember...that's what it was ;)

3:51 PM
@steelerfan Oh, I thought it was the wedding thing.

@NapoleonWilson Probably that too, but the Bane thing was the main thing.

@steelerfan Well, we don't really know what it was exactly in the movie anyway, apparently anaesthetics, though.

Q: Why does Bane wear the mask?

DForck42Throughout the movie, we're given different versions of the past. I am also not sure if it's ever made very clear why Bane wears his mask. So, why did Bane have to wear his mask?

@steelerfan Which rhymes! And which is also way more exciting than any old wedding! ;-)

@NapoleonWilson Yeah, also, the Mexican wrestling thing...

Well, as elaborated in my excellent answer, Bane's physicality was still a major aspect of his character in the movie.

@NapoleonWilson Hey! Itt does rhyme! I'm so talented! Honestly, I would rather discuss Bane than a stupid wedding, too. I'm not a huge fan of weddings, anyways ;)
I'm really gonna have to have my nephew look at all of this stuff. He wouldget the hugest thrill reading all of these questions and answers.
@AnkitSharma Did you watch Batman yet?
@NapoleonWilson So, was passerby f-ing with me with what he was saying?

4:01 PM
@steelerfan Yes, it is. During his run in Secret Six he actually makes a vow to never use it again.

@MattD Is that when he teams with Batman to stop it from going into the streets or something?
@AnkitSharma Anyways, if you've seen Batman, I am putting a question together about the Alicia Hunt character. I'm looking at her wiki on a Batman fan page. This one claims that she is Harley Quinn's mother! WUT?! And that Madonna was set to portray Harley Quinn. DOUBLE WUT?!
DAMMIT, ANKIT! You're kicking my ass in this challenge!
Gotta go. See you guys.

@steelerfan Not yet

@steelerfan Huh? Why? He was quite right. What do you mean?
@steelerfan WUT?

@AnkitSharma But many many questions, no?
It's about questions, not users.

Yeah 3 from me only ;), still need to watch batman and it's sequel

(And frankly, 3 users is already pretty good anyway.)

@steelerfan Going for it tonight
@NapoleonWilson I did 4 but one of them was not so strong to stand a chance , so deleted
Anyways never been so serious for a ToW before, except Shakespeare one.

Q: Old TV series about red people

UserRRAbout 20 years ago I have watched old TV Series made in USA (made between 60s-80s); it had a main protagonist(detective maybe), and he was either escaping or hunting the aliens. The aliens actually looked like people(identical) and were in someway mysterious men in black(or gray smoking with hat)...

Publicly discussing nerd topics have made many people regret it afterwards @steelerfan

6:08 PM
Two part question: Is "Why did Kubo and the Two Strings perform so poorly at the box office despite very favorable critical reviews?" a valid question, and if not, is it valid here? I can't find any press on it that seems reputable that discusses it.
Clarification "is it valid here" means "this chat room" and not the main site.

6:54 PM
@NexTerren Could be many things. Marketing, a complex premise, a tricky title, a weak weekend overall etc. But mainly, AFAIK there's no strong correlation between reviews and revenue. Many well received films did poorly in the US, many badly reviewed ones were hits. Don't feel bad for it, though; it seems it didn't cost a lot, so it's not going to be a flop.
@NexTerren And sure, you can ask almost anything in this chat room :)

Gene Wilder has died at the age of 83. :(

Hmm, apparently Batman and Batman Returns already aired on TV and I missed 'em. Drgh!

there was a rather heartbeaking message from his nephew on twitter.
he apparently had Alzheimers for several years, but chose not to tell anyone, because he didn't want parents telling their children that "Willa Wonka" was sick if they saw him out somewhere.

9:15 PM
@MattD WUT?!?!

@steelerfan Yep. :(

OMG. I was in such a good mood today, too :'(
This just sucks :'(

@AJ Yeah, like the list of my boyfriends on the star board is really interesting ;)
@MattD Right? And we haven't even had the election yet.
@NapoleonWilson I thought you didn't like Batman Returns, anyways.

@steelerfan Well, I'd still like to have watched it again, it's interesting nevertheless? But even more so Batman.

@NapoleonWilson Sure. Whatever you say, my dear :)
@AnkitSharma Dammit! Oh, it's on! You're going down! :P

how are you guys

@wade-watt Good! How are you?

@steelerfan Blurgh! Are they really going to do that?

@steelerfan tired , give me some space :D

@NapoleonWilson I highly doubt it, someone just proposed it. I don't even know if it was serious.

@steelerfan oh :/ rest in peace
ı just looked at news , he was playing charlies ch. fab.
also sorry for you :/

:'(

10:06 PM
@steelerfan can i ask some question

@wade-watt Yes!

So the same thing that makes apes intelligent makes humans sick? Or's that a coincidence?

Huh?

@steelerfan it s not about the movie , about the life and @NapoleonWilson also to you , what do you think about the success ? so whick person called for succesful , you think ?

@wade-watt Wut? That...that's an incredibly broad question. What do you actually mean there? What do you define as success?

10:09 PM
@wade-watt I don't even know what you're asking?

Cause of general question , ı think as a student ı am unsuccesful , on grades and other situations , like that
clear ?

@wade-watt Well, we can't help you there, though. We don't know the requirements that you have to fulfill and what it is that you seem to fail at. Though, keep in mind that not everything goes perfectly smooth all the time. There's periods of doubts and having the feeling of being stuck, it depends how severe it is and what you make of it. Other than that there's really no more specific advice that can be given in such a general situation.
Also, success is first and foremost what you think is success. If you're happy with your life, then you are successful.
3

@NapoleonWilson just asked for know ideas about this situation , nevermind , let it be i am not ask this question

@wade-watt Well, I can relate somewhat. I always struggled as a student with math. I just found a tutor. Are you struggling with schoolwork?

@wade-watt I don't want to shut you up or anything, it's just that what you describe is still too generic to give any specific advice yet. It's unclear what you are unsuccessful at, and in which way, and what unsuccessful means in this context, and why you think you are.

10:17 PM
@NapoleonWilson Well said! You so smart, Napoleon :)

@steelerfan yeah , same but i took the main answer :) it is not the place thanks :)

@wade-watt Okay. You can ask me anything about life advice. I'm not sure that I am the best example to follow, though ;)

@steelerfan thanks , its so cool :)

Napoleon is much more responsible than I am ;)

@steelerfan I'm not really, though, not at all.

10:21 PM
@NapoleonWilson Sure you are! Look who left her ID and credit card at the rental place...just sayin' ;)

thanks again :)

@wade-watt You're welcome! Feel free to ask anything. It's really not a big deal :)

@steelerfan That's not about responsibility, that's about forgetfulness. You didn't leave it there on purpose. ;-)

@NapoleonWilson I didn't know that any mod's can pin or unpinned things in any room.

10:25 PM
@NapoleonWilson Uhm, yeah...but a responsible person would have double checked before leaving ;)
@NapoleonWilson Can you guys see who pinned or unpinned something?

@steelerfan I don't think so.
Why?

@NapoleonWilson bc the message about thanking Wad was unpinned in the other room and Slytherincess is annoyed about it. I didn't know that any one of you guys could do that.
Not a big deal. I was just curious.

I see.
Drabbedy drab, dipp dippidu dap, flap flap!

Alrighty, then :P

@steelerfan ?_?
Why you :Ping?

10:41 PM
@NapoleonWilson What in the heck are you talking about?

@steelerfan The ":P" after your last message.

@NapoleonWilson Because you're talking gibberish ;)

Oh, I see.
Oh, so it is the same stuff that makes apes intelligent.

@NapoleonWilson God Dammit, Napoleon. What are you talking about? ;)

@steelerfan The planet of the apes.

10:51 PM
@NapoleonWilson Oh, the one with James Franco?

@steelerfan No, the next one.

@NapoleonWilson Oh, I have only seen it once. I haven't even seen the end... I fell asleep ;)

@steelerfan You don't say.

@NapoleonWilson Hey, I need to have some action going on! ;)

@steelerfan The ending was totally action packed!

10:56 PM
@NapoleonWilson Maybe I should have stayed awake for it, then ;)

Q: 90s anime style cartoon with humans fighting to liberate alien occupied "zones" on Earth
