@MovieReel Nice coincidence! Oh, and nice soundtrack, nice atmosphere, and this Matt Murdock guy's pretty cool. Like this dark "Arrowy" Hell's Kitchen setting.

oh hey, at some point, it looks like directors name tags need cleaning up
I'm not going to do it now, I'm going out
but like, shouldn't be used on most of the questions it's on

12:46 AM
@Flyk Yeah, that was due to the topic of the week we once had, which is pretty much the reason why I did not propagate the idea of one and only one specific tag for each challenge in the new version. Thanks for cleaning those up.

is like it in some instances with batman questions as well

@Flyk Indeed, though he's also screenwriter so people might argue he could be relevant for some story decisions. But still, he most probably isn't in nearly all cases.

I wasn't going to edit tonight, the only edits I've done are because I came across those questions in the natural order of things

@Flyk I know, I know. But many of those are bound to a specific time, like I said.

most importantly, I'm on page 137

12:51 AM
@Flyk Which means...?

I'm in the 130s

But I noticed you have increased your velocity pretty much. Not so much to vote anymore, eh?

which is better than the 140s or the 150s
@NapoleonWilson actually I've reached the part of the site I upvoted lots when I recreated my account
I have just cast 80 votes in the last 90 minutes, though
er, 79, so I can still use the /review queue

Q: Pre's People legal help

Bradley JenkinsDo family members maintain the rights to their deceased siblings. I have been working on a documentary for 4 years about Steve Prefontaine. Now I got a family member claiming she has rights to her brothers likeness and Life. What rights could those be?

Wut? @kalina was really that old? Even the site isn't much older than half a year from this time. Or do you mean you also went way back even then?

12:53 AM
no, I deleted my account, when I came back, I carried on from where I had stopped the first time
then I stopped using SE for a year, now I'm starting again
now I'm out of votes and I think it's time for beach
back in a few hours once I've burnt to a crisp

Thanks, fed up with flags for tonight.
@Flyk So you're on the other site of the world? Would explain why the hell you're suddenly flagging in the middle of the night.

Lol sorry I hadn't taken into consideration time zones -.-
I will keep that on mind

1:55 AM
So I tried to see Age of Ultron tonight, but walked out thanks to literally the worst audience ever taking me in and out of the movie so much. The worst offenders were a family of five who let two if their kids use their phone the whole time with their screens at full brightness, in addition to their youngest having one of those fans that lights up when the blades spin. Never seeing a movie on $5 Tuesdays again. Clearly appeals to the worst of humanity.

Q: Villain trying the capture children? Kind of a Tim Burton feel?

the dudeA movie I recall watching as a kid, a dark film however I think it was quite family friendly. A villain trying to capture some kids, cant remember how many children there were, maybe 2 or 3. The kids were siblings. From what I can remember the villain had a kind of clown look to him, im not sure....

Q: Young loner male meets a girl and possibly kills her, psychological thriller?

Greg OlsenFrom what I remember: Main character is a young mentally troubled male working at a small insurance/telemarketing type company. Q: Did "The Edge of Tomorrow" relates in any aspect with Scientology? =O

GonzaloScientology, like almost all religions, makes you do weird stuff: making movies like "Battlefield Earth" or jumping like a mad at Oprah. Is "The Edge of Tomorrow" another "Scientology approved" vision of humanity and the future?

Q: How did Variety know how many families went to see "Avengers: Age of Ultron"?

pacoverflowVariety says the following about the opening weekend for Avengers: Age of Ultron: Roughly 59% of the audience was male, 41% was 25 years and older, 12% were teenagers and 22% were families. I found out that there is a company called CinemaScore whose representatives hand out survey cards t...

Q: TV-Show (maybe Movie) where four fathers/forefathers was a plot point

BuurmanI'm looking for a TV Show, possibly a movie. Unfortunately I remember very little about it, not even if it was live action or animated. The one thing I do remember is that there was a plot point about confusion between forefathers/four fathers. The protagonists were told they had to look for th...

@pacoverflow Well, at least the comic movies have slightly trained their audience not to leave. But even in an MCU movie I still see most of the people leave. But even if it's not a comic movie I, and most other people, still wait at least till the "fancy" credits are over and the rolling text starts.

9:39 AM
that's my contribution for the day, I'm off to bed
or, more likely, roll around in bed because the A/C is crap and it's ridiculously humid

@Flyk Well, an actual answer is worth a thousand edits anyway, I guess. ;-)
But happy rolling!

@NapoleonWilson Maybe 150 edits
Probably only worth 10 votes, though.

I didn't seen this coming

Hmm, and 500 old comment flags?

don't know, comment flags are harder for me than they are for you

9:46 AM
@AnkitSharma Huh, what?

one day we will be free of genre tags
and on that day there will be cake

Never noticed this genre tag....i think we already had enough

I'd just leave the genre tags for now, one day I will work out the correct set of words to use to turn everybody against them

Can we atleast make it synonym of

@AnkitSharma Well, we could merge it into , I guess. But frankly, I don't really give a damn (which also means, though, I wouldn't have a problem with some other mod doing the merge).

9:49 AM
if you're going to merge+synonym
do time-travel into science-fiction as well
I am literally about to die if I don't sleep though
so nn

@NapoleonWilson OK, looks greenlight to me
done

also merge identify-this-movie into plot-explanation and plot-explanation into identify-this-tv-show and identify-this-tv-show into breaking-bad and breaking-bad as a synonym to better-call-saul

@AnkitSharma But do we really need an actual synonym? Isn't a psychological thriller also a thriller?
By the way, did you forget to merge?

@NapoleonWilson its a sub genre of thriler
@NapoleonWilson Ahhh....i though it was automatic.
done
@NapoleonWilson Anyways i still have hope that one day we will going to kill this genre tags.

I don't know.
Urgh, who the hells makes all those stupid irrelevant chat flags on non-offensive messages?

9:59 AM
the problem with most of the tags here, that I've realized after we've murdered the really pointless ones
is not the tags themselves but how they're used
genre tags do have a use if you're asking a question about how stuff is done in a particular genre, so like coupled with film-techniques or whatever
but atm they're used nearly exclusively on identification questions

Hmm, sure. But most of them are used properly, even if it requires an editor to do so.

Still better then comics.se ;D

I'd be a fan of removing genre tags altogether but there are a few issues that I can think of while in this state:
(a) it breaks the (apparently not already working) genre specific links with other sites

@AnkitSharma Yeah, where the experts for butter-beer and r2-d2 reside. ;-)

(b) there are some questions where they're legitimately needed to avoid having a bunch of film-technique questions that are all the same but for different genres with no real way to differentiate between them
although (b) is also semi-solved by mentioning the genre in the title

10:02 AM
@Flyk Not our problem. The bigger problem would be the valid genre specific general questions, I think (and the enforcement of that use only).

it's the enforcement part
it's much easier if the tag doesn't exist

like psychological thriller @ankit just linked
before he merged or w/e
had 1 non-ID question against it
and IMO that question didn't even need a genre tag (it was about sixth sense)

@Flyk 2, and I removed it from both. ;-)

:P
tired eyes
it's basically the same thing noticed last night with the use of director tags for every question about a movie that director worked on

10:04 AM
Anyway, lunch-time. Eager to see what the tags look like when I'm back.

unless we do that for every question, surely it would be correct to only use the tag when it's needed (ie: you're specifically asking about the director)
if that's th e case for directors then surely it would be the same for genres
we don't tag every question on the site with what genre it's about
don't mind me, minor state of delirium

MouradCan anyone give us proofs from the movie "The Cobbler" that confirm if his dad was dead in the movie or he just went away?

@Flyk Of course it would, so what?

Q: When should a director tag be used/created?

Q: What are Walter and Donny's occupations (when the events in the movie are unfolding)?

galacticninjaThe only detail I can remember that can give a hint on what Walter's job was, is that he works in Security, as written in his van: Can't remember anything for Donny. Is there another hint in the movie on what Donny's job could be and what Walter's job in Security is, specifically?

Amazing how he links to IMDb pages for friggin' characters but doesn't name the actual movie with a single word.

Q: Scene from a TV show with two men talking and one summarising Star Wars in a funny way

HegemonA while ago I watched a scene from a TV show on YT. The title of the show was provided, but unfortunately I don't remember it. I think the show was British, but I'm not sure. meta comments are nearly always useful

1:47 PM
@NapoleonWilson Same here. I'll stay if the credits are made to be visually appealing, but just scrolling text? Pfffffft, that's what IMDb is for. :P
But yeah, also still boggles my brain that people leave before the end credits of a Marvel movie. You'd think they would know by now.

@MattD Well, I at least used to stay for the mid-credits scene and was happy with that. Then there comes Avengers 1 and I later come to know that I missed some guys eating shawarma, and from then on I really needed to stay for the whole friggin' thing. But at least for Avengers 2 that waiting really paid finally!

2:14 PM
Well, hopefully at some point in the near future I'll be able to sit through a screening with responsible individuals who actually want to watch a damn movie, and not treat the theater like an extension of their living room.
That's only the second time I've walked out of a movie, the first being The Last Airbender because I honestly felt like I was stealing productivity from humanity while watching it on a weekday. I literally went home and did some remote work.

@MattD And what is the second time?

2:33 PM
@NapoleonWilson I mentioned it earlier. Last night while trying to watch Age of Ultron. Went because it's $5 Tuesdays for the theater I work for, so even though I couldn't get in free the ticket was still only $5.
Little kids everywhere, lady next to us had a kid who couldn't be older than 3 complaining because he wanted something she didn't have, then he was woken up by an action sequence. Worst was a family a few rows down who had two kids on their damn cell phones the whole time I was there, and a third, younger boy who had one of those fans with the blades that light up when it spins.
Do they take the fan from the kid so he can't do it? No! They just get him to put it down...for three minutes until he starts up again. Lost focus too many times so I just noped out of there. Let management know and went home.

2:54 PM
@Flyk Oh, you don't have to. Afterall it's asynchronous communication for a reason and if the flags get handled by someone else or 8 hours later that's absolutely no problem.
@MattD Ah, now I see. Hmm, sad to hear.
Well, if only the public movie going experience was without the damn public!

3:13 PM
Thing is I love going to the movies, and an great audience can help with that. A comedy can seem funnier, a horror film can seem scarrier with the right people. Just irks the shit out of me that so many people feel entitled to do what they do at home. Amazes me they can't go a couple hours without looking at their damn phones.
Last night really brought home why people pirate movies. Seriously wish Alamo Drafthouse would expand and build a theater here in Columbus. I'd patronize the hell out of them.

@MattD What are they doing different? Disallowing food and phones?
@MattD Indeed, if I paid actual money to watch a movie, why do I have to finger my friggin' phone all the time?
In fact you wouldn't eat or phone in a theatre play or a musical. But afterall we all know that movies are culturally far inferior to theatre, or musicals, or books, or whatever. ;-(

3:29 PM
The Alamo Drafthouse Cinema is an American cinema chain founded in 1997 in Austin, Texas, USA that is famous for its strict policy of requiring its audiences to maintain proper cinemagoing etiquette. It has screens in eleven locations across Texas in addition to locations in Winchester, Virginia; Kalamazoo, Michigan; Kansas City; Littleton, Colorado; Ashburn, Virginia; and Yonkers, New York, with others to be built in Los Angeles, San Francisco; New York City; Chandler, Arizona; and La Vista, Nebraska. Its headquarters is located in Austin. == History == The Alamo Drafthouse Cinema was founded...
Seriously, Alamo Drafthouse is a chain that I really want to expand; they're like a movie lover's dream come true. As someone living in Ohio and a fan of Buckeye football, it irks me to know the state "up north" has one and we don't. :P

Q: Animated series (or movie/tv show) of a daughter carrying a flower pot

I hope tag get burned automatically now.

@AnkitSharma So what, none of those has a question here.

@NapoleonWilson Not yet :/
@NapoleonWilson But in most of the country they have their own Hero film to get confused with
Ans hero sounds to generic too
Already mis-used in ID

<mean> Malcolm's description in Hegemon's question actually reminds me of some questions in a certain tag. </mean>

Q: What changes if 'Kathryn Railly' is insane?

whatever5599451(S)he is 'mentally divergent'. Cole, Jeffrey, LJ Washington, Dr. Peters etc. are all constructs of the fantasy world. Wouldn't this be a much cleaner explanation? There's no time travel paradox. No twisted explanations of how/why certain events happen. Just fantasy.

That being said, I'm coincidentally currently playing LEGO Star Wars. ;-)

9:40 PM
@NapoleonWilson I'm confused about the three comments against this - did you even watch Burn Notice?

@NapoleonWilson Or, or, she doesn't exist and she's dreamed by a potbelly pig.
Every mindbending sci-fi film could be a delusion or someone's dream. What's the point?

also I hate being out of votes
how many hours is it until it resets
2?

GMT? Yeah, 2 & change

also @AnkitSharma I think this answer could be updated with some more info now that Age of Ultron has come out
there is that scene where they're trying to pick up Thor's hammer and you can clearly see reverse thrusters

Yeah, I still haven't seen it. So I'll be off :P

9:43 PM
I'll shush now
I'm not going to say anymore anyway and that scene is in the trailer

Is it any good at least

well I can't answer that for you really, can I?
I enjoyed it less than the first
just like I enjoyed Iron Man 3 less than the other two
and I still haven't seen Winter Soldier
felt a little bit... filler
maybe Ultron meant something more in the comics, but I'm not really a comics person
so it might be more fanservice

filler as in scenes with dead air?
cause i actually heard it was too chopped up

I can answer your question but in doing so may reveal information you don't want to know
but the way I see it, movies should be incremental if you're going down the routes of sequels
and the first one was about an alien incursion
the second one felt a bit matrix reloaded
but, I am the wrong person to ask because it's all just pretty CGI to me
and Chris Hemsworth
can never get too much Chris Hemsworth

not in it for the plot either

9:47 PM
well the CGI is nice
it's not Star Trek reboot nice
some of the action is a little too fast so it's just... stuff happening
there's always something going on
if it's any consolation, I also watched Furious 7, and preferred the Avengers movie over it

i should start a theater where i'll show all this 3d stuff in a broomcloset with an oldtimey projector
then we'll see if the script holds up

tbh I don't find the plot of many movies all that compelling, but it's also the same with games

anything is better than Furious dialogue

Q: End of Mankind movie

John van UrpI remember when I was a little boy there was a movie about an alien invasion. I say decent, I mean acceptable
needs more Firefly

when the 'heroes' killed innocent people in the street with a giant safe?

@Flyk Uh wut?
But Agent Carter's quite fun, too.

@NapoleonWilson you know at the end of the first season on the top of the parking lot with that really well known actor that I don't remember that makes a 30 second cameo before getting shot?
nsa agent phillip cowen
established at the end of the first season who (individually) burned him
but I know if I flag those comments they'll get rejected :p

incremental... so alien->what, eldrich? sun gods?

both of those answers are basically perfect, answering the question from both who individually and who overall burned him
@Walt I'm just saying that after an alien incursion, watching one of Tony Stark's inventions escape as a second installment is a bit boring
like... alien incursion... over new york
big hole in the sky and aliens everywhere
vs a bunch of iron mans
which we've already seen in Iron Man 3
boooooooooriiiiiiiing

9:55 PM
they did frontload the 1st a bit
@MovieReel yyyyyyyyyyyeah, good luck

@Walt I found it quite good. Not sure if better or worse than the first. But they're both good on their own. I found the themes of creation, posthuman evolution and perfection pretty nice.

I found that in addition to the story in the first, the initial character development was also well executed
whereas the character development in this movie seems to center exclusively around black widow and the hulk

i'm mainly getting it's servicable from everyone

well, I'd watch it again when I can stream it or whatever
it's not a bad movie
and I did say I was the wrong person to ask :P
disclaimers ftw

as long as he keeps his magical stretchy pantaloons on, i'm fine

9:59 PM
@Flyk The comments were relating to the question if Burn notices are government dihes or not. And I said they are, but it could still have been (and apparently was) some kind of private person who originally instigated it. So what? But it's ages since I saw this anyway.

@NapoleonWilson yeah that's cool, can we remove the comments now though?

@Flyk Why do you think that. I've deleted millions of my comments at your request already (which doesn't say they will not get rejected, though ;-)).

@NapoleonWilson sure but I always bring up the ones that require more than 140 characters in here
and hardly millions

@Walt Well, gods isn't too far off, depending on your notions of "god", though.

I doubt it's more than 1000 in total

10:00 PM
@NapoleonWilson on second thought, we had them in the 1st too

probably less than 50 being yours
I seem to flag @AnkitSharma saying "thanx" more than anything

@Flyk Well, actions-wise and epicness-wise those movies can't top each other anymore anyway. This is just a problem inherent in all their pomp.

ironically, while talking about deleting comments, I got my badge for 10 comments the other day
@NapoleonWilson true, cheap and easy CGI ruined everything

no 100s in meta, which is fair, 100 would just be a nerdgasm score. but no overtly bad ones either, except LaSalle which doesn't count. i think i'll wait a week for things to calm down

@Flyk Wut? The character development was pretty nice, I think. I loved how they gave a character some actual depth and significance who until this time was by far the palest of them all.

10:03 PM
the hulk being all emo is hardly depth and significance
Avengers 3: Hulk's Therapist

@NapoleonWilson cameron probably working on some technique that'll prove you wrong as we speak

@Flyk I wasn't talking about the friggin' Hulk, but about the character you didn't even mention (well, there were many you didn't mention, though).

yeah, i'll get out of your hair so you can stop tiptoing around the details ;)

@NapoleonWilson the two newbies of which one spoileralerted barely count either
@Walt I think if you stay, the quality of the conversation with all of our attempts to hide spoilers will make fun future re-reading

@Flyk Aw, c'mon, you know I'm talking about Hawkeye, his parts were great in this movie, while in all the others he really wans't more than Legolas. But this time they actually used his supposed insignificance and inferiority and turned it around as an advantage.
@Walt That isn't a spoiler, though, in any way. And more detailed stuff than that I don't have to say anyway.

10:08 PM
did we watch the same movie, because all he seemed to do all movie was fly a plane and fire arrows, doing significantly less damage than everybody else

I'm not so sure I want to discuss any details now anyway, so no need to leave.

you always run away
it's like fear
fine, well, I'll go and have a productive day then
enjoy!

@Flyk Uh, you watched Avengers: Age of Ultron, right? Not the one with the aliens where Hawkeye is just Loki's spy all the time.

well he wasn't all the time, he broke out of it on the helicarrier
but no, I was talking about age of ultron
he did his little speech near the end but other than that...

@Flyk uhuh (o_O)

10:10 PM
not to mention how half of the Avengers die in that explosion and then suddenly Odin's spirit appears and resurrects them just before the giant chicken eats Earth at the end

@Flyk Well, then I guess I can't help anymore either, or you timed your toilet breaks really badly.

maybe I was too busy mesmerized by Chris Hemsworth

@Flyk That being said it might of course just be you're either making fun of me or still trying to hide spoilers. Anyway, yeah, let's talk about Chris Hemsworth's abs.

why just his abs?
I keep thinking about doing something and then immediately forgetting to do it, and what I was thinking about

@Flyk Well, whatever Hemsworthy topic you like, just go ahead.

10:15 PM
that sounds scary
so, Thor's hammer...

@Flyk Meh, nobody's flagged them yet anyway.

@NapoleonWilson oh, you still want me to flag them
right, I didn't realize you couldn't just delete stuff :p~

@Flyk I don't want anything, except for Thor's hammer maybe.
Uh, that might have sounded a bit too strange, though.

I'm not sure that you and I mean the same thing when we say Thor's hammer
;)
I hear it's well balanced
cough

@Flyk Well, me neither. Hmm, you say it first!

10:18 PM
it's been such a long time since I saw Burn Notice
if I remember correctly there weren't really any suitable questions that could be asked about the show on here
I'm also pretty sure Stargate SG1 is another that I can't really ask questions about on here
since their stories are either plothole-less and well explained or full of plotholes

@Flyk But I found it pretty fun and enjoyable. Reminded me of 'ye goode olde action shows from the 90s without too much cross-episode glue. But at some point I just got out of it.

yeah what I liked the most is Michael Westen's narration when doing stuff like building traps etc
I thought the overall direction of the show was alright but it was nothing amazingly special

Sure, just some distracting fun. Spys, action, comedy, a neat Miami atmosphere.

A question with four tags!
oh noes
what have I done
are you familiar with Stargate?

Never watched any of those shows. But the movie's a classic, have seen it a thousand times, I guess.

10:25 PM
oh really
I thought the first 7 seasons of SG1 were great
well, ok not the first 7
it's like parts of season 1, parts of 2, and then 5 and 7 were excellent
I see these sorts of questions all the time but I'm not sure I'd ever ask one
but like, "why did Teal'c decide to join SG1 during Children of the Gods?"
would be an analysis question I guess

@Flyk How's that analysis? Sounds like proper plot-explanation.

Q: What are the known differences between the Stargate universe in the movie and the TV series?

FlykI have watched the 1994 movie Stargate and all three live action TV shows it spawned (SG:1, Atlantis, and Universe) and there are some obvious differences in the universe between the two, for example not brute forcing the Stargate in the movie universe but successfully dialing Heliopolis as shown...

most of these will probably just get downvoted anyway

@MovieReel I just can't imagine this isn't answered at some later point or in that episode. But well, I don't know anything about it anyway.

well it's one of those questions that could be answered after watching up to... season 8, maybe?
by that point the Jaffa revolution has occurred with the assistance of Earth
maybe I'll delete it

@Flyk Well, ok.
@Flyk For god's sake, not because of my uninformed comment. Would you please stop deleting all your valid content?
