Q: Policy on PostgreSQL spin-offs

Evan Carrollgreenplum and postgresql needs to be cleaned up. My suggestion is that we don't permit double-tagging. postgresql should not exist on greenplum questions. The architectures are totally different, And, from the docs.. Greenplum Database is based on PostgreSQL open-source technology. It is ess...

I thought "morning" defaulted to "good morning", not "grumpy morning". I'll try to remember to be explicit next time.
I guess that needed some explanation :)

@TomV thank you very much for your efforts

Q: Data entry form/subform in a Many-to-Many relationship

Techie_GusI have an Access database with a many-to-many relation. The origin table is called Property and the destination table is called Person. A property can have more than one owner, and a person can own more than one property. I created a join table to accommodate this M-M relationship. Here is the r...

The OP seems to agree that the question isn't really about the database side.

Whatever you may see fit. At the end of the day, the objective is to solve the issue whilst respecting the community guidelines.

Oooh, Postgres has had Logical Replication committed. github.com/postgres/postgres/commit/…

@Philᵀᴹ yes. It's an extension currently. Meant to be in core in next major release.

@AndriyM voted

Strange. Says it's locked, but doesn't say it's migrated. And the question isn't there in the OP's SO profile, so the migration is indeed not completed.
Even though it's been on hold for 6 min
Could be some kind of delay but seems a little too long now

@AndriyM could it be that people voted to be off topic?
but not send it to SO?
I voted to "off-topic : send it to SO"

@ypercubeᵀᴹ Could be, but then I wouldn't expect it to be locked.

@ypercubeᵀᴹ I thinkI saw a blue 4 next to "send it to SO" when I cast the last vote
it says "close, invalidated" whatever that means on the timeline

Q: Too many triggers in the database

NitcheHi this is a theoretical one. I work for small software company and developing multiclient software for medium insursnce compsny to do multlpe areas existing erp adn crm do not do. Our system architect is from times of mainframe and some of developers are too but they smart and learn fast if nee...

No idea what he's asking
But some would say that 1 trigger is too many in a database

@Philᵀᴹ the same user has asked this one (now closed): dba.stackexchange.com/questions/161880/…

2:54 PM
@Philᵀᴹ I think it's about how many business rules in the database is too many.
Which is primarily opinion-based, I'd say

@AndriyM yeah, I got the same from reading it.
But the title says "triggers" ...

Perhaps most of the rules are the kind that they think can be implemented only with a trigger (if they should be implemented in DB).

3:26 PM
@AndriyM I flagged the q.

migrating databases off of SQL Server 2000 is so much fun. And by fun, I mean no fun at all. Almost every gun in your belt is powerless against that pile of rubble.

@MaxVernon Thank ye gods you are migrating away from SQL 2K

@TomV yah, every one that goes away is a celebration!

DROP ALL DATABASES. RESTART FROM SCRATCH

I have some customers still to support (a handful) on a couple hundred total and everytime I think "oh yes, query analyser to run queries and the other thing to manage the database" is utter disappointment
