11:09 AM
@jacwah Hey!

Do we dare create a new release now?

Why the heck not!

because something might break? :)

Well, things'll break at one point or another, we'll have to get it over with

Did you fix the attributions?

11:14 AM
Nah, but that's pretty minor IMO
If you insist though, i'm almost done with the script, it should only need a few more lines of code and then some copy-pasting of the attributions into the cardsets

oh, right, the attributions. I think we can wait for them

It could probably be written to the files on-the-fly, I just don't want to screw it up though, might have to try a few times before it's right

there's no rush

There's nothing to mess up
Just have a clean git status and then git reset --hard to retry

Thanks to VCS of course ;)

11:18 AM
That's why I did for my script

from ListOfFilesInDirectory import ListOfFilesInDirectory
from GetUrlsFromFile import GetUrlsFromFile

source_directory = "/Users/francisveilleux-gaboury/IdeaProjects/Cardshifter/extra-resources/mods/Mythos/"
extension = ".cardset"
file_names = ListOfFilesInDirectory(source_directory, extension)

filter_include = [
    "wikimedia"
]
filter_exclude = [
    "User:",
    "upload.wikimedia"
]

url_list = []

for file_name in file_names.list_of_files():
    full_file_path = source_directory + file_name
My original thought was to do the selenium stuff at the end, but now I'm thinking, I already got the file open right where I need it to get the URL, maybe I might as well write to it while I'm there?

You can't write to the middle of a file
But you can copy each line to a new file
And then move the file over the old one

Ohhhhh that sounds good

hey all

hey!

@Mast looks can be deceiving ;)

0.6.1 is right around the corner!

s/are/around/ ?

uh, yeah

11:29 AM
just checked my server and it still appears to be running, so i think everything is stable

Ahahaha the Python script just works it's awesome

how are you running the python script @Phrancis?
just a command in the mac terminal i guess?

IDEA I think

11:45 AM
^^
for url in url_list:
    try:
        print url
        firefox = webdriver.Firefox()
        firefox.get(url)
        firefox.find_element_by_css_selector("a[title=\"Use this file on the web\"]").click()
        firefox.find_element_by_id("stockphoto_attribution_html").click()
        attribution_text = firefox.find_element_by_id("stockphoto_attribution").get_attribute("value")
        print "Url: " + url
        print "Attribution: " + attribution_text
    except:
        e = sys.exc_info()[0]
TTGTW, back in a bit

I think you can do except Exception as e
An then e refers to the exception thrown

12:37 PM
Hey everyone!

Remonking
Hey @Marc-Andre!
I wonder if it would be better to move firefox = webdriver.Firefox() and firefox.quit() outside of the for loop iterating over the list of URLs
Doesn't seem to take that long to open and close it each time though (maybe 10-15 minutes for the whole list to run?)

@Phrancis That sound like an awful lot of time! It can't take longer at least.
Hey

12:53 PM
I blame Wikimedia slowness ;)

I think it should go faster if you would avoid opening and closing of the browser. Just do firefox.get(url) and onward repeatedly.

Think it should have an additional try/except block wrapping that?
try: open; for url: try: get(); except: finally: except: finally: quit()
<meeting>

I don't think that's necessary

If opening the file fails you might as well exit the process
What is there to be done in the except block?

file? I don't see anything about opening a file.

1:02 PM
open
You should be doing with open(file) as f which already handles closing the file on exception

I only see something about opening an URL at the moment

I might just be confused by the pseudo code

1 hour ago, by Phrancis
for url in url_list:
    try:
        print url
        firefox = webdriver.Firefox()
        firefox.get(url)
        firefox.find_element_by_css_selector("a[title=\"Use this file on the web\"]").click()
        firefox.find_element_by_id("stockphoto_attribution_html").click()
        attribution_text = firefox.find_element_by_id("stockphoto_attribution").get_attribute("value")
        print "Url: " + url
        print "Attribution: " + attribution_text
    except:
        e = sys.exc_info()[0]
are we talking about the same code?

7 mins ago, by Phrancis
try: open; for url: try: get(); except: finally: except: finally: quit()

ah, I think open is firefox = webdriver.Firefox() and quit is firefox.quit()

1:11 PM
Never mind the stuff I said about files then

1:27 PM
</meeting>
The except is there to catch URLs which are not found (there are a few in there I'll have to look up manually, some of them could not be reconciled by @jacwah's script) so I just want it to display what URLs were not found then continue on with the next one

@Phrancis okay, then you should at least use an inner try...catch that is done for each URL. I don't think there would be much use for an outer try-catch though.

OK

Which URLs are not found? I'd like to see what I did wrong with my script

1:45 PM
I'll let you know after I run it, I'll paste the list into a gist

Thanks!

@jacwah Mind Control is supposed to steal a minion from the opponent's battlefield, but somehow it steals a minion from the opponent's hand, after that minion got returned to his hand during summoning

That's a nice bug
Or feature? IDK

> Need some kind of better status-check...

Don't know either

What happens in the HS Video in order:
Mind Control triggers Illidan, Illidan Spawns a 2/1 Flame of Azzinoth that triggers the 3 Knife jugglers. Knifejuggelrs kills a sheep that explodes dealing 2 damage to all minions, everything dies but malygos and Illidan. When the spider thing dies (Anub'ar Ambusher) it triggers deathrattle and pushes Malygos (dragon) up to the hand but since the Mindcontrol has yet to resolve and resolves after Malygos was put back into the opponents hand it simply takes control of it. The strange thing is that Malygos goes into your hand and not the battlefield but i

The main bit is that Anub dies and pushes Malygos back to the hand before Mind Control resolves.

@SimonForsberg What do you think is the best way to assert that a message is not received in ServerConnectionTest? I could a) assert that await times out or b) send another message and check the message type received or c) ???.
I don't really like relying on timeouts.
Sending another message doesn't feel right either.

@jacwah what specific thing is it that you want to test?

ah...
I think the best thing to do would be to add a function awaitNotMessage that would deal with sending another message and checking the message type received. I think that's the best way to solve it.
using timeouts is not a good idea to test it, and I don't really see any other solution.

What about assertNoMessage?
There's already assertUserFound.

assertNoMessage would work fine

5:45 PM
Alright, thanks

Cool!
Those errors are not because the link is broken, but because they don't have a "Use this file" link

Ah, yeah I noticed that
misinterpreted the errors at first. Anyways, not too many of them so should be good

I wonder why they don't have that panel at all

Not sure, that panel's behavior is kind of weird
Sure went fast after I moved the start/quit firefox logic out of the loop!

Looks like you've really learned something by hanging out at Code Review, @Phrancis!

> It seems like this is the release-event, as mentioned in #30, which I now will work on supporting.

I'm glad I took the time to learn to script it, instead of doing the work by hand. Probably has taken about as long at this point, but now I have a few more tools in my toolbox :)

@Phrancis I have to admit, I did not expect you to pull this off this easily. I was amazed at how quickly you got started with Python.
I should now better than to underestimate a fellow CRitter ;)

see if you can convert it to a String array some other way. Maybe use Collectors.toList().toArray(new String[gameFactories.size()])

@Phrancis Imagine if I would add some cheats to Cardshifter, just for the sake of being able to debug faster. This could be used as a "debug-mode" only feature. Now imagine what would happen if the game would be fully released with this feature enabled :)
just realized that we do have a hidden cheat in Cardshifter ^^

We do?

gets information about any entity in the entire game. You can see all the components and all the data for the components.

Ah that's quite OP
@SimonForsberg What does this mean? gameFactories is of type Map<String, GamFactory>, shouldn't keySet have type Set<String> etc?

I don't think it's possible to change the values though, unless you can find a method that does it for you

You can still see all of your opponents cards :)

@jacwah keyset should be of Set<String> yes, but I think the Stream<String>.toArray() method returns Object[] and not String[]

@SimonForsberg Ohh

7:21 PM
                String[] mods = server.getGameFactories().keySet().stream().toArray(size -> new String[size]);

[Cardshifter/Cardshifter] jacwah pushed commit 35a13704 to issue-383: Refactor ServerConnectionTest user names
Refactor sockets to allow for port=0

If port=0 the OS picks any available port. This is useful in
ServerConnectionTest where there before was an ugly hack to try
different ports.
Add test: don't send UsersStatus for non-logged in

A UserStatusMessage is sent for clients that aren't logged in. See #383.

@Duga oh, that's a smart idea

@SimonForsberg I found out about it a while ago and added it as a comment because I didn't know how to implement it then
Phrancis is listed as author for some reason
Copy-paste lol

@jacwah I think @Phrancis has some weird way of doing merges some times... I'm not quite sure what he does.

magic

7:41 PM
@SimonForsberg I'm not quite sure either why it does that... I don't think I've ever even touched that file

what test method should I be looking at, @jacwah?

testUsersQueryNotLoggedIn
I.e. the one that's failing

@Phrancis I think it might be because you do git merge origin/branch-xyz or something. Or because you maybe get a merge-conflict and don't resolve it properly... or something.
@jacwah I get java.lang.AssertionError: Expected class com.cardshifter.api.outgoing.ServerStatusMessage but was UserStatusMessage [userId=7, status=ONLINE, name=], is that what you're getting as well?

Maybe. Seems like I often have issues when merging and other things with git. Maybe I should stick to PRs and let you do the merges

@Phrancis I think @jacwah and I will also use PRs more instead of merges directly.
but you should try to learn git more as well :)

7:48 PM
I've been trying man! I don't think I have a good grasp on local branch vs remote branch and how git handles all that

@SimonForsberg No, wait let me push something

[Cardshifter/Cardshifter] jacwah pushed commit 3137ab98 to issue-383: WIP: Don't send user status for non-logged

I thought I had commited that already

@Phrancis think of a branch as a pointer to a commit. Locally, your pointers might point to some commits, but on github they might point to other commits. git fetch fetches new information from github about which commits the remote branches are pointing to. If you do git merge origin/branch-xyz without having done a git fetch you might be merging to the wrong pointer. git pull does a combination of fetch + merge.
@jacwah I don't know if you noticed, but in the test output it says Exception in thread "Thread-10" java.lang.UnsupportedOperationException: No such defined type: status

* Fix server status query
* Refactor bits of `ServerConnectionTest` and related code

looking at travis-ci.org/Cardshifter/Cardshifter it seems like Travis has built your commit pushes... GitHub says that it has sent status events for when the Travis build starts (which @Duga simply ignores). But GitHub hasn't sent any status events for when the Travis build succeeds or fails.

Hmm

if we wouldn't be using sudo, we could easily test Travis' new infrastructure which is supposed to be faster. unfortunately, we are using that github.com/Cardshifter/Cardshifter/blob/master/.travis.yml#L7
doesn't seem like travis-ci.org/Cardshifter/Cardshifter/builds/79348712 has started even...

Q: How can I install a package without root access?

WeboideI have no root access on this machine. I would like to know if there is a way I can download Ubuntu packages and install them as non-root? Probably in my ~/bin or ~/usr/share or something like that? Would that work?

8:15 PM
I'm gonna try restarting the build

There are other ways to install software :)

@jacwah I wonder if that would work on Travis...

One thing that would 100% work would be to just wget it from oracle's site
The second way I know of is to install from a .deb package. You may be able to download this from a web site or if it's in the Ubuntu repositories you can download with.

apt-get download package

Replace package with the name of the package

Once you have your de file call dpkg directly from the command line. The following example will install package.deb into your home directory.

dpkg -i --force-not-root --root=$HOME package.deb
^ This should work too I think

> If you require sudo, for instance to install Ubuntu packages, a workaround is to use precompiled binaries, uploading them to S3 and downloading them as part of your build,then installing them into a non-root directory.
> As you can’t use sudo on the new container-based infrastructure, you need to use the addons.apt.packages and addons.apt.sources plugins to install packages and package sources.
> To install packages before your custom build steps, use the addons.apt.packages key, e.g.:
is this something you want to play with, @jacwah?

Yeah sure

8:22 PM
I don't quite know why we aren't using addons.apt.packages... I'm blaming @skiwi

@SimonForsberg I'm blaming @SimonForsberg!
What's the fuss about?

The Docker stuff on Travis is probably pretty new

Never seen any of that stuff ;)

8:25 PM
@skiwi the fuss is that @Duga isn't reporting about our Travis builds, because Travis is never starting our builds... see travis-ci.org/Cardshifter/Cardshifter/builds/79353831

Bad Travis

I cancelled some builds that hadn't been started and told Travis to re-run the latest build number (which also never was started)
Yes, Bad bad Travis, no donut for you.

8:40 PM
@Duga oh crap

9:00 PM
@SimonForsberg SirPython has been encountering that error, and he says he remembers seeing, "[Ljava.lang.Object; cannot be cast to [Ljava.lang.String;]"or something along those lines.

@SirPython should be happy to know that now the server developers are aware of the problem and feel slightly bad for having had @SirPython to have encountered that problem which @SirPython wouldn't have done if the server developers just did their job properly.

Yes, I'm sure SirPython would be very happy to know. However, we should refrain from telling him so he doesn't blow a fuse, now knowing that all the debugging that he had done yesterday was out of his control.

Update .travis.yml

Use their new container-based architecture by disabling sudo. It seems
like the jdk doesn't have to be installed manually: see
