8:00 PM
looking forward to it! I have reason now to live another day! Other than picking up my mixer in 3 days.

Awww, bless your enormous cotton socks x

:)
I bet with the freedom to play with your tiles on the board and without the distraction of the timer, you are going to be formidable.
You have blown me away with some really good plays. I have rorquals tattooed on my left arm.
Firefox doesn't know that's a word either.
I originally had typed a more interesting body part than left arm, but I decided against it.

Awww
You can tell me tomorrow ;)

Maybe in the privacy of the Scrabble room :)]
jinx
Do you have Miracle Whip in the UK?
Maybe I have asked you that before.

No, we don't
Is that the fake mayo thing?

8:11 PM
This is going to be one weird-ass tuna patty

What would you substitute for canned chiles?

instead of mayo, the scrapings of 3 vaguely dip like condiments...
depends...what am I making?
Of course any pepper

That chicken tamale pie thing you posted earlier

really? Neato
Can you go to the store? Or does it need to be from your pantry?

I'm writing my shopping list

8:15 PM
Then roasted bell beppers, your choice of color.
plus whatever you want for a little heat.

Cool
Thank you, o wise old woman of the woods
<runs>

The canned variety are generally anaheim or hatch is close
can you get either of those?
yeah, yeah, yeah...wise makes up for old
If you can roast one jalapeno with the bells, that would give you the right heat. As would any green hot sauce or salsa.

No, we don't get canned chillis here, other than online
As little the tall will be eating it, I won't add any heat

you don't get those fresh either? (anaheim or hatch?)

Nope
Generic red and green, maybe bird's-eye

8:28 PM
then bells will be absolutely fine
I would do 3 red to one green, but that's just me.
The very idea of a grocery without at least 10 types of fresh and canned peppers... FOREIGN I tell ya!

The very idea of a grocery without at least 30 types of domestic and foreign cheeses...

You might be surprised by Fred Meyer...It's just so damn expensive! But the selection is getting bigger every day.

How much is, say, half a pound of parmigiano?

I've been meaning to take my camera in anyway
Or man...on the low end is Parmesan...Not Parmagaino but decent anyway...not the powdered crap.
Maybe $5 for 1/2 a pound.
In the fancy cheese kiosk, maybe $20 for a half pound of the good stuff.
Beemster mid-grade aged Gouda is $14 for 6 ounces.

See, only parmigiano reggiano can call itself parmesan
Here
European law has provision for protecting food names

8:40 PM
Here maybe 1/10th of Parmesan (less if you count the powdered stuff, which you'd be amazed how many people think is cheese) is reggiano.

Here, it's £3.50 a wedge for the official stuff
Italian buffalo mozzarella, £1.50 a ball

A lot of our domestic cheeses are actually pretty good.
How big is a wedge?

so pretty close to what we pay for low end
I wanted fresh whole milk (not even buffalo, just milk) mozzarella the other day for my pizza.
I did not want to part with the $16.

Good grief.

8:46 PM
And I was torn...I really wanted it.

I'd rather have affordable mozzarella than a slightly different tasting pepper
:)

I can see that. But Mexican food is to us kind of what Indian food is to you. And we can get Mexican cheeses!

Pff
We will have to arrange a cultural exchange trip
We just need sponsorship
I will contact the British Cheese Marketing Board
You contact La asociación comida mexicana

You got it....:)
Keep your eyes open for poblano chiles.
If you ever see them, get two for every member of your family over two.

I can likely get them online
I get dried ancho and Chipotles for chilli

8:57 PM
I'll will introduce you to the wonderful world of the Chile Relleno
Do you know of nopales?

It's cactus.
Th big plate leaves

With the outer skin and thorns removed.
It's pretty good.
Both fresh and jarred.

I'll take your word for it :)
Right
I'm off to bed
See you tomorrow for our date ;)

9:04 PM
I'm off to bed too....too weird :)
