9:21 PM
morn

@Flyk o/

@Flyk Where are you? Australia?

Earth!
someplace
@Xander can you downvote something on meta for me?
on movies & tv

@Flyk Yah, if it's worth a downvote.

well, it's so I can delete a question that has been completely misunderstood
which then got edited to clarify the meaning, but they didn't like the fact my edit made it so clear
I guess I'll go with option C
eugh, they changed it so any answer prevents a delete?

9:29 PM
@Flyk Done.

I'm so bored of the moving goal posts in this place

@Flyk This is why I only post in the sec.SE meta. All the people here tend to agree with me, so I don't get aggravated.

The only reason I suggested props in the first place was because if you look at minimizing the edits done (M&TV like minimal edits), props is the most common tag of everything left
but they took "lets merge into props" as "lets merge EVERYTHING INTO PROPS"
and then the discussion became about why that was a bad idea
even though that wasn't the original intention of the post...
and then I'm the bad person for clarifying my post!

9:43 PM
I think it's a perfectly reasonable post, and the classification makes sense too. They're obviously crazy over there. As well as having a BRIGHT theme that hurts my brain

@RoryAlsop feel free to vote accordingly
but yes, they're all crazy

I just saw this and thought to just leave it here as it might come in handy some day:

they're defending meta tags with the argument "I don't know what you mean by meta tag so your argument must be invalid"
and these people are moderators!
what a joke
ah, rant mode aborted
did you know I had a productive stackexchange free day today?
It was awesome

@Flyk don't you mean yesterday?

no I meant today
what happened yesterday?

9:49 PM
@Flyk just 20 mins ago you said it was morning for you...
so I guessed that today here was yesterday for you
:)

but the site time is measured in UTC

@Flyk phhhbbt

I was only trying to keep it simple to avoid confusion
jeez

@Flyk yeah yeah yeah

it's like people on Stack Exchange exist with the specific purpose of pushing my buttons

9:52 PM
You Rannngg?

...no

:-)
It was a question inspired by cider for the purposes of comedy
I'll shut up now

are you drunk?

Rarely
And not tonight

sure, but right now?
aww
well I'm higher than most of our satellites

9:54 PM

Q: Is user/filesystem access separation of services enough to have well secured data of services?

MiroI'm about to publish some of my projects. So, I'm gonna to re-install my VPS and do it properly. I'll have running on it Apache server(websites are made using Ruby and Python), databases. I'll also have there some GIT repositories, and probably VPN. I'm advanced Linux user(and programmer), but I...

I wonder if I'd get away with lifting the piano from sunchyme in whole
morning @Gilles

not completely off-topic on U&L but it's more a matter of risk management so it's more of a sec.se topic
@Flyk not for another hour

highly dependent on timezone
as it stands, though - yes, it is actually less than hour but close enough to round up

Q: How secure are virtual machines really? False sense of security?

T. WebsterI was reading this CompTIA Security+ SYO-201 book, and the author David Prowse claims that: Whichever VM you select, the VM cannot cross the software boundaries set in place. For example, a virus might infect a computer when executed and spread to other files in the OS. However, a virus e...

Q: Does a Virtual Machine stop malware from doing harm?

mooseI would like to know if it is save for the host system of a virtual machine (VM - VirtualBox OSE in my case) to execute malware. Can a virus break out and read or write data from the host system? Can it establish an internet connection if I disable it in my VM? Is a VM a safe environment to tr...

Q: Is it safe to install malware in a VM

ErikIs it safe to install malware in virtual machines? I would like to investigate malware, but I don't want to infect my own computer. Can I install the malware in a VMWare VM, maybe even without network access, without risking the integrity of my host system?

Q: Is it safe to use virtual machines when examining malware?

saber tabatabaee yazdiWe want to study for the CEH program and have downloaded 12 DVDs that 6 DVDs are software key-loggers, Trojans, etc. that are all detected by antivirus. This prevents us from examining them and learning how they work. I have instructed students not to uninstall antivirus as running these malicio...

Q: Can a guest virtual machine be compromised by a virus on the host machine?

VirtualMachineAll questions ask about the other way round, ie. can a virtual machine compromise the host. But I'm asking can a virus on the host machine compromise the guest virtual machine?

that's quite a bunch of near-dupes, and there are probably more
opinions on closing some as dupes? which?
