Customer trying to transfer his .com domain to nic.ru (god knows why), says "I paid them and my account shows I still don't have any domains. I don't speak Russian so I can't talk to support. What do I do?"
me: your screenshot says you have an 800 ruble deficit, not credit. And you're right, no domains.
him: So should I give them more money?
me: erm.. do you have extra?
him: OK, I just paid more.
me: it doesn't look like that helped.
him: should I give them more?
me: .... [i have no words] ....

Wow, this render engine has seen some real upgrades:

I can't remember where I heard this, but someone once said that defending a position by citing free speech is sort of the ultimate concession; you're saying that the most compelling thing you can say for your position is that it's not literally illegal to express.

Yay! My security bug is finally public!
@StackExchange dat alt text

5:57 AM
@ManishEarth So wait... this is considered a bug in bugzilla, or the browser?

@tylerl In bugzilla. When it comes to browsers ... there's too much batting around of the issue
FWIW it was fixed in firefox, for a while, then they un fixed it

@RoryAlsop Israel conflicts several of your requirements as stated: its well into the 18-30's C (higher end of that, especially in the summer); plenty of drunken brits; touristy places are mostly hotels (though there are some of those villagey type places). What context is this?
it is great for kids though, plenty of pools and some gorgeous beaches.

Hello

9:22 AM
you guys see this?
Full online browse-able source code for the .NET Framework: http://referencesource.microsoft.com
pretty cool from MS.
and about time.

@AviD .Net javadoc style

ayup :-)

@AviD Too bad I dont use .NET... or windows... or pretty much anything made by microsoft

@Nick Highly doubtful. Perhaps you meant ".... at least not directly".

@AviD ignores that fact that I use a microsoft keyboard

9:26 AM
@Nick which installed a rootkit driver on linux when you plugged it in... ;-)

@AviD Microsoft is EVIL^2

@Nick mhmm, mhmm. Are you only temporarily in leave of your mental facilities, or is it more of a permanent condition? ;-)

@AviD That made me laugh more than I should have

@Nick ah, good, so you should feel comfortable here in the DMZ. :-)

9:31 AM
@AviD hehe :)

@TerryChia tabbed, will watch later
sounds interesting

@TerryChia Hmm ill watch when I have the time hope its not too long(cant check right now javascript is disabled)

@Nick It's 30mins. You can download the video.

@TerryChia Ah nice ill watch it later today

@AviD never thought you're gonna retweet something about Cocoa :)

@TildalWave heh. It's not really about Cocoa, it's about learning new things. And being stupid.

@AviD I know, but it ends with ... you are ready to conquer Cocoa. :)

@TildalWave hey I love me some nice Cocoa, with whipped cream and maybe a marshmallow...
That is on my list to learn.. eventually. Very far down the list though, always stuff to learn!
woot, #guilttrip time! That's my cue to duck out for the weekend. Later y'all!

11:02 AM
@TildalWave Why did you approve security.stackexchange.com/review/suggested-edits/24850 ? All the edits were introducing grammatical mistakes or useless formatting

@Gilles He's european, he likes it that way.

@AviD if that's what she said, it raises a lot of questions. Very disturbing questions that I do not want to know the answer to.

hahaha

11:27 AM
@Gilles must have missed that forgotten -> forgot, there were some other suggested edits from the same member that I reviewed just before that one and they seemed OK to me
@AviD hehe are you always this apologetic on fridays?

Watcha' All, beautiful day today (which is v. unusual as it's a public holiday here and those are usually rainy!)

11:47 AM
@RоryMcCune what holiday is it?

@TildalWave Good Friday
part of the whole easter thing

@RоryMcCune ah yes,... it's a bank holiday in UK?

@TildalWave indeed, slightly anachronistic concept these days but yep bank holiday it is..

only Sunday and Monday here ... with Sunday being anyway so ... yeah
I just checked my calendar and it says it's also bank holiday in Germany today
so if even Germans don't work today ... what the bleep am I doing in front of the computer? :D

@TildalWave heh, well we work for ourselves so all pretty random
but took the opporunity that other people wouldn't be about to head up one of the local hills this morning..

11:53 AM
I walked yesterday so much I really like my chair today. Missus planned it for yesterday because the forecast said it's gonna be nice ... of course, it wasn't and it's today LOL

Talking of being stupid:clickssl.com/blog/…

@TildalWave ah we got super lucky was lovely up on the hills today.

Wow.. where are you living ?

We have the same sky as you here Rory- no clouds. Ambient temp about fifteen degrees so we are all in shorts at the Edinburgh science festival

@ack__ Lochgoilhead in Argyll in Scotland This was up Ben Donich, which is near the hills called the "arrochar alps"
@RoryAlsop chillier here, but perfect for hill walking this morning..

11:56 AM
@RоryMcCune Yup that is lovely ... but it's not all green yet? It's an explosion of greenness here

@TildalWave the hills don't get too green till later, but down in the valleys everything is starting to come out

Hm.. my wife is from Scotland. We should definitely consider moving there :)

@ack__ it can be really lovely at the right time of year, of course you need to be ok with weeks of rain as well.. but worth it in the end..

@RоryMcCune how high are those hills?

Yeah well I'm in the Alps so I think I'm pretty used to non-stop raining..

11:59 AM
@TildalWave Ben Donich is 847m
@ack__ ah indeed really big mountains there!

@ack__ Really? I'm just south of Alps and I wouldn't say it's raining all that much, especially since it's April and it's kinda supposed to

Yes, got the Mt. Blanc view from garden sometimes :)

@RоryMcCune not that bad, but it's all green here already till at least 1.500 m

@TildalWave : I'm in between Alps and Jura (near Geneva), and we just spent 1 month under grey clouds..
But I agree those last days were like summertime

@ack__ You need to bear with shitty internet though. ;)

12:02 PM
@ack__ oww yeah I imagine they can gather there ... but the winters look fantastic (if you like snow that is)

You have to decide for yourself if it's worth the tradeoff. :P

@TerryChia : No ! I got FTTH with 100M symetric connection !

Poor, poor @RоryMcCune. Wanna post the speedtest results again? ;)

@TildalWave : usually yes, but this winter was all crap, very few snow falls and poor sking conditions around here ...

@ack__ similar here yup, tho last time I was in your area was last winter which was exactly the opposite to this years

12:05 PM
@TerryChia har har de har :op

Surprisingly, my 1500 souls small village is equiped with great fiber connections, as it was the guinea pig for fiber deployment in france

@ack__ heh well if you want to move to scotland wait till 2017, by then they're meant to have FTTC for at least 85% of buildings.

@TildalWave : I heard that yes, I was in south of france at that time but neighbours said it was 1meter of snow every morning in front of the door..
@RоryMcCune : We're seriously thinking about moving there. she got family and friends and life seems really peaceful on your island !

SG is great for internet speed if you can use wired. Wireless is completely horrid here though.

@ack__ well I do like scotland, the independence thing might be a bit... interesting, but yeah in general anyway the scottish countryside is pretty quiet..

12:08 PM
@ack__ yup sounds about right :) here wasn't that bad, but we did have 20-25 cm in the city even and lasted for about two months... dogs / kids really loved it and adults with shovels a bit less so :))
only had a few days with a few cm of snow this year tho

yep.. not even enough to play luge in the garden .. :( our little one was very disappointed after all the promises we made :p

Finland dun fact time! In easter, kids collect willow catkins and they decorate it with feathers. Then they dress as witches and they knock on doors asking for candy in exchange for the catkins.

@Adnan And the next day a contest is held in which catkins are counted to determine the most popular house?

4:02 PM
@TildalWave here's the green levels lower down..

4:23 PM
@RоryMcCune haha nice yes that's more like it :)

3 hours later…
6:55 PM
@AviD You've been able to see all this code for the past 10 years by using Reflector. The only difference is that now the variable names are preserved.

7:23 PM
@RоryMcCune we got a new thing running at EY...
and for I'm glad it hasn't got my name on it: EY Cyber Security Center of Excellence
I first thought it was a joke
but apparantly it's not

7:43 PM
@LucasKauffman yay cyber excellence, if they could just get was in there it would be perfect!

Update from Parental Tech Support HQ: Windows 8.1, despite the ".1", is still a hateful abomination from the dark lands. Happy Easter.

8:02 PM

8:46 PM

@Iszi tl;wd;dw (too long, was drinking, didn't watch) is it worth it

9:10 PM
@RoryAlsop Fairly good explanation, I think. Then again, it really is a simple bug.

@Iszi yeah well, if it was written in Pascal this would have never happened :)

9:35 PM
@RoryAlsop I'm trying out a lowland whisky for a bit of a change.. auchentoshan.com
