2:00 PM
@Adnan LE are sharing very little information

@GreenFly LE?

@Adnan Law Enforcement I presume?

@AntonyVennard yes. I should have made it clear

@AntonyVennard Ah okay, thanks.

Well, that was a good guess then :)

2:03 PM
I will not occupy your time any further, ladies. Have a fine day
is it possible to edit my message?

@GreenFly you can edit chat messages within 2 minutes

@GreenFly Yep. Up arrow.

@GreenFly Click the little arrow to the left of the message.

thank you all for the help.

@Adnan Oh I didn't know that! Thought I had to up arrow to get to them... oh dear!

2:05 PM
that made my exit much less dramatic.

10ups already today, great :D

2:23 PM
@HamZa You're doing much better than that one...
mmm.. what was his name?
Yeah, @Simon.

RUDE.

@Adnan lolwut

@HamZa Esh ye3ni lolwut?

@Adnan Isn't everybody?

The SQL injection question he answered was definitely mine. Unfortunately, I was sleeping. Lesson learned, I no longer will sleep.

2:25 PM
@TerryChia Hehehhehehe

@Adnan lol + wut = lol + WAT

@Simon Just sudo shutdown -h now. You aren't needed.

@TerryChia OH COME ON.

@HamZa Thanks. The young people's language confuse me, a lot.

2:26 PM
@TerryChia Is he ever?

@Adnan Well yeah. If you ever need your car cleaned. ;)

@Adnan young people ? I'm \x32\x30 years old :)

@Simon shutdown /s /t 0

@Adnan My copy paste broke and there's no way I can type all this.

2:28 PM
@Simon Ah so you are running on Windows? Explains a lot.

@TerryChia Hey, I'm at work. It's Linux all the way at home.

What a lovely day it is.

@LucasKauffman Damn! Was just about to tell you that!

@LucasKauffman Is this some conspiracy against me?

@Adnan (here you can tell me)

2:29 PM
@Simon Don't worry, I haven't rep-capped yet

@Simon Dude you weren't supposed to know about that
the asssassin gave himself away didn't he ?

@Simon It's only a conspiracy if we plan it out before hand. If we all simultaneously mock you, it's just you.

@Adnan I told you we should have taken the more expensive one, but noooooo you wanted the cheap one.

@LucasKauffman Well, we were low on whiskey that month. We had to get that one.
Holy moly! I'm more than halfway to the Epic Club.

Rub it in my face!
3

2:32 PM
@Simon Rub what?

@Simon That's what she said.
and we never dated again.

That was too easy.

@Simon So's your mom.

I'm done.

@Simon :)

2:33 PM
@Lucas How far are you?

@Adnan for beating bummerman?

The second to last entry

@Adnan 13 days only. :(

earned at least 200 reputation on 7 days

Also, I think there's a caching issue with SE. My rep isn't updated on the site, but they're updated on that /reputation page.
> earned at least 200 reputation on 31 days
WoooohoooO!!!
IN YOUR FACES!

2:35 PM
you're lucky then

Wow I suck. I didn't even max once.
I gotta get my shit together.

@Adnan @ThomasPornin is gonna come in and humble you soon.

@Adnan meh I've got more gold badges than you SE wide!

@Simon There's an erectile dysfunction joke somewhere there.

@LucasKauffman Yeah, I still beat him in gold badge count! :D

2:36 PM
@Adnan I even have a Steward and Marshall badge.

@Adnan My favorite jokes.

@TerryChia Must I ? The humbling effect is mostly built-in.

I think I have the 4th most gold badges here. After @ThomasPornin and his sockpuppet, @AviD and @Polynomial.
@ThomasPornin Right, your mere presence tends to have that effect.

and with 4.079 posts still the master of low quality post reviews on serverfault <o/

@ThomasPornin Can I hire you for rep-boosting service?

2:37 PM
@LucasKauffman Here?

@Adnan serverfault mainly

But if some definite action is needed: I have earned at least 200 reputation on 194 days. And an extra 53 for Bear #2.

That jerkface @AviD only beat me because of mod badges. :(

@Adnan I spent most my time over there last year
@ThomasPornin you know how to make people feel bad.
You're like those people who get their second masters degree at the time youself enroll in to college

@LucasKauffman I'm currently browsing the "List of Montreal Bridges" wiki page.

2:39 PM
@Simon You're going fishing?

20 upvotes what the flying fuck. stackoverflow.com/a/17785250/1170681

@Adnan He's going to sleep with the fish.

@LucasKauffman But I cannot sleep!

@Adnan I think he is the bait.

@TerryChia That's the c(++) tag for you

2:40 PM
I don't understand people with SE avatars showing them with a girl.

@Adnan "I have a life"

So, why the fuck is this question off topic?
1
Q: Is there a way to avoid configuring the same information multiple times?

Terry ChiaMy application utilizes many libraries that each require their own configurations. For example, both Hibernate and Apache Shiro requires me to specify database connection details in the configuration files of each library. Is there any method of centralizing these values into a single file, XML ...

@Simon nah people with a life don't feel like they have to post those types of avatars.

@Simon But I can just walk to pretty much any girl in the city center and ask her to take a pic with me. Does it mean I have a life?

@LucasKauffman Exactly. They're trying to make us think they do have a life.

2:42 PM
@TerryChia OFF TOPIC!

@Adnan Refer to what I just replied to Lucas bananas.

@TerryChia Want me to VTO it?

@LucasKauffman They want me to produce valid code for the question. Am I supposed to copy and paste all my configuration files for them?
@Adnan Nah, I got the answer I needed. It just makes no sense.

@TerryChia I threw it in the queue anyway
Whoooa! This keeps growing and growing

@Adnan THAT'S WHAT SHE SAID!

2:46 PM
@Adnan It's okay, it's normal. We'll have a talk about why 'it' grows.

But seriously! 62k!!

@TerryChia VTO -ed it

That's gigantic.

This is pretty funny:

Q: Why is early return slower than else?

macThis is a follow-up question to an answer I gave a few days back. Edit: it seems that the OP of that question already used the code I posted to him to ask the same question, but I was unaware of it. Apologies. The answers provided are different though! Substantially I observed that: >>> def wit...

Have no fear for @RoryMcCune is here!

2:50 PM
huhwhat huh?

Well, time to sleep. Have a good day gents. @Simon.

my mind has been dulled with having to deal with IPSEC
I hate IPSEC

@TerryChia Nighty night
@RoryMcCune too much security?

@TerryChia le fu-. Sweet dreams ANYWAY.

@LucasKauffman too many obscure pointless configuration settings, unhelpful error messages and overall crapness!

2:51 PM
@RoryMcCune one question tho, why do you need IPSEC?

@LucasKauffman configuring a firewall/VPN for someone, the SSL VPN implentation doesn't support windows 8, most of the client computers are windows 8....

also too many obscure pointless configuration settings, unhelpful error messages and overall crapness => sounds like Cisco :D
@RoryMcCune openvpn?

@LucasKauffman that's what I use at home, but they don't really have a suitable server to install it on....

@RoryMcCune for 25 pounds you can get a Rpi :P
but I wouldn't trust your production server with that xD

@LucasKauffman heh I did consider running openvpn on an rpi at home, but apparently the crypto performance isn't stellar so went with the option of a VM running OpenVPN access manager instead....

2:56 PM
@RoryMcCune yea and I can imagine throughput won't be stellar either
right time for me to pack my stuff

@Raymond It feels so strange that you have that avatar.

@Adnan you may want to help close questions: cv-pls.com/backlog

@Raymond That avatar is actually against the rules, you aren't allowed to use an SE logo. You should change it, otherwise it will be changed by a mod/admin along with a nasty message.

@HamZa what's that site?

@LucasKauffman To help organize the closure of SO questions

3:03 PM
@Gilles Nasty messages, I like that.

@HamZa that site has become obsolete now that the close queue exists

@Gilles But it's still fun to use :D

@Gilles Nope, in fact you will have more chance to close a question there than in the queue cv-pls.com/backlog?chatroom
or this one

 The closing room

Currently on: CLOSE ALL THE TYPO QUESTIONS
The only disadvantage: you won't make progress for a Badge
Does anyone know an anonymous way of paying online ?
(no bitcoins pls)

3:26 PM
@HamZa find a leaked credit card details database
or did you want it to be legal and ethical?

@Gilles lol, no I want to be legal :)

who do you want to be anonymous from?
for example paypal lets you be anonymous from the vendor, but obviously you aren't anonymous from paypal

@Gilles From the vendor ? I don't think so ...
@Gilles I wanted to hire a server/vps, but when paying with paypal my ID would be exposed ...

@HamZa so? Create a paypal account just for this, of course
of course that's only if you don't mind that paypal has the information

3:42 PM
@HamZa prepaid cards
although it will require a little effort

4:00 PM
Yay for mod tools on SEx.SE :-)
@rorym ipsec is just annoying. It should just work, but doesn't.

> My kids have two volumes. Mute when they're asleep and Metallica when they're awake.
3

Superb quote!

4:21 PM
@AviD @RoryAlsop And so utterly, unerringly true.

@Gilles Sorry for the late reply. I've already got a paypal account
@lynks That's what I'm searching

@HamZa I am not aware of any way to do it legally, given that any payment card is attached to an identity.
But it is extremely common in blackhat circles to use cards of various kinds, and prepaid cards are often more readily available.
The point is to get a card number, dates and security code, that are not in use by the real owner.
Then typically, empty someones back account onto your card somehow, and launder it through poker sites.
For which you will need a few dozen other cards...

I don't want to fraud or use illegal tricks.
I want to be anonymous because I do care about it. For example I don't disclose my lastname in the wild.

@HamZa then you cant use mainstream electronic payment methods I'm afraid.

exactly my thoughts ...
The other day when I rented a server they asked me a scan of my ID. After arguing a lot I had to do it anyways
I suspect that every provider would ask for it

4:38 PM
@HamZa It is possible to give false information of course, but again you will hit the hurdle of paying for services.

@lynks I see ...

holy frigging fuck

@HamZa anyone who offers 'anonymous money' will find themselves swamped by criminals. In general, the legitimate institutions try very hard to keep track of who is spending money.

@LucasKauffman 'sup ?

I went to a shop 8 km from here and it took me 1.5 hours to go there and back

4:42 PM
@lynks yeah :(

@LucasKauffman traffic?
@LucasKauffman weight problems?

@RoryAlsop I thought sex.se didn't manage to get out of beta?
@lynks traffic

(weight problems)

This is SEx - short for space exploration :-)
As opposed to Sec, short for Security

@RoryAlsop no before there was a real sex.se which talked about sex
@RoryAlsop sex as in coitus

4:54 PM
snicker You said coitus.

looks like the bear has gone on a re-tagging spree in preparation for the royal baby.

@lynks Yeah, of course, because the new brat will require a birth

@ThomasPornin ahh, is that what you've been up to? I noticed you retagged a couple of mine.

(Actually my present target is "certificates", with the final "s")
I went through all my "public-key-infrastructure" answers to see if some questions deserved to be tagged "certificates" as well.

do any of you submit your pgp keys to a central database? an academic institution or some such?

5:08 PM
@lynks bear wants a cracker badge
@ThomasPornin Do you have all the existing tag badges?

@Gilles No. I lack a dozen bronze tag badges, and also two silver tag badges (appsec and web-application). I have all five gold tag badges which have been awarded so far.

@ThomasPornin slacker

5:25 PM
Missing bronze badges? What are you doing with your life, @Thomas??!!?!?!?

@JeffFerland Living it, mostly.
Turns out that having a life is rather neat.

Yeah, I can see that :P

@JeffFerland Well, I have a life but I also have slow workdays.
It is a terrible thing when each test involves an iisreset and then two minutes wait time until the darn thing loads again.

@ThomasPornin Ick. Ick ick ick.

@JeffFerland And there's worse: I have to write code in VB.NET.

5:35 PM
@ThomasPornin It's clearly beer-o-clock where you are.

6:03 PM
When I Google-Image "Thomas Pornin", the first the result is someone playing with snow balls, the second one is an artsy black&white picture of the same person, and the third result is a picture of five ladies playing with each other's breasts.
The results after that are a mixture of @RoryA, mushroom, Osama sex video, and dolls screwing each others on pumpkins.

@Adnan As my brother (first name: Maxime) told me: "I tried to register a domain named after me: maxporn.com; but it was already taken".
4

@ThomasPornin My second beer spill because of the DMZ.
The first time was after reading something @Lucas said

what did I say?

@LucasKauffman I don't remember. It was several months ago

6:08 PM
sometimes when I google stuff about crypto I find sci.crypt archives where an important post is missing from the thread. That tells me who wrote it

The snowball juggler is me; the photo was taken on top of a mountain near Innsbrück, Austria, where Eurocrypt 2001 took place (12 years ago). I am at that time demonstrating my resilience to coldness, and my ability to juggle four balls.

@Thomas Although I must say, there are many aesthetic photos in that album (the ladies playing with each other's breasts).
I wonder how you ended up there, though.

@Adnan link?
h google
nvm

@LucasKauffman Just Google image The Bear's full name
Ah okay

@Adnan I could say that "the Ways of the Google are Impenetrable", but I am sure you pervs would find some innuendo in that sentence.

6:11 PM
why is there a picture of @RoryAlsop when I google thomas pornin xD?

@Thomas Okay, I think now I know why the ladys' picture appear there.
@ThomasPornin Somewhere in the page it says "Porn in the USA". In another place in the page there's a guy called "Van Houtryve, Thomas"
Google algorithm seems like a 3 year old boy.

@Adnan use quotes
google is like shell programming: put double quotes everywhere

@Gilles I shouldn't have.
I can explain the naked ladies to my coworkers. But I can't explain that

@Adnan 404 - File or directory not found.

I found a photo of me that needs to be taken down

6:22 PM
mind you, if you search with quotes, you also get bear porn. Like... oddee.com/_media/imgs/articles/a248_bear.jpg Oh, that's what you posted earlier

I find French girls very appealing.
Especially the southerners.
Or maybe those are just the ones go abroad for exchange.

What about their accent?

@Simon I find it quite funny.

7:26 PM
Evening people

7:37 PM
@PeeHaa Evening, person.

7:55 PM
Is it always this quiet in here?

Hello, world!

@PeeHaa It depends. Now I'm here, so there's not much activity.

@PeeHaa Many usual participants are based in Europe. Right now, they sleep (except @Adnan, who just likes to be annoying).

@ThomasPornin It's only 22h in the best part of europe

@ThomasPornin I don't like to. It's just a talent.

7:59 PM
@ton.yeung Your question is lacking a question
@ton.yeung Honest question? Why would you use ubuntu instead of debian?
Ah your boss likes to throw money at his screen ;-)

@PeeHaa Personally, I use Ubuntu because I like the release schedule. Debian stable's packages are almost always too old and obsolete, while testing's packages are too new. The 6-months schedule of Ubuntu strikes a middle-ground which befits my taste.

8:17 PM
When lightning is strong enough to make the PA speaker over your head crackle, that's a bad sign... right?

8:31 PM
@Iszi If it made the speaker cackle, it would be a worse sign.
“If complete and utter chaos was lightning, then he'd be the sort to stand on a hilltop in a thunderstorm wearing wet copper armour and shouting 'All gods are bastards!”
2

@ton.yeung Umm... Defcon is always in Las Vegas
@ton.yeung Oh, see. Proper spelling helps.

"I once helped my uncle, Jack, off a horse." Grammar is powerful.
5

"A bear eats shoots and leaves."

8:48 PM
@PeeHaa What are you doing here :O

@ThomasPornin who, him?
couldn't find a sec.se account

9:34 PM
@ThomasPornin Just @Adnan? I'm here too :P

hello

While this link may answer the question, it is better to include the essential parts of the answer here and provide the link for reference. Link-only answers can become invalid if the linked page changes. — TildalWave 7 mins ago
@TildalWave Duuude!
@LucasKauffman Nobody's here

@Adnan What? That's auto-text

@Adnan what's wrong with his answer?
It's valid D:

@LucasKauffman 100% agree.
@TildalWave Look at the answer in its context.
It's a CW pretty much asking for that kind of answers

9:49 PM
@Adnan yeah, the proper thing to do is close the question

@Gilles Have I told you that I like you before?

@LucasKauffman the answer is inappropriate. But the question calls for this kind of answers. The question itself is inappropriate
@Adnan that would be a first

I VTCed

like me all you like

@Gilles I don't usually like to like people I like so much

9:51 PM
@Adnan Yes, OK... but it's still a link only answer, and the author could include why he thinks it's great,... I mean, I could go on about what's great and how everyone should trust me in my answers, but I'd only come out as some Nigerian con scheme, wouldn't I?

Damn it! I'm not able to formulate a sentence.
@TildalWave Oh please. Look at most of the other answers.

@Adnan Somebody flagged it, I agreed with it
and yes most of the answers there should be converted into comments anyway

@TildalWave Not a solution. The question itself is soliciting that kind of answers. Like @Gilles said, it should be closed and kept for its historical value.
@Tildal Also, since you feel that way about the answers. Downvote them and flag them for mod attention.

and the question is probably off-topic too... it would be before, when we had "too localized" VTC and since many of the links don't really lead to where they were meant to when posted, that kinda proves my point... Personally, I'd be fine with it if all the answers were converted into a single community wiki that's actually maintained

the internet here is too damn slow

9:57 PM
or even a blog post

@Adnan @TildalWave No, if you find yourself flagging many answers to a question like this, VtC the question instead, and don't bother with the answers

@LucasKauffman What's your ping time to Google.
@Gilles I'm 100% with that. But I'm against wanting one answer removed rather than the others.

@Adnan don't have that much time to review stuff today... I actually read stuff I vote on ;)
@Adnan that one was in the review queue, somebody flagged it, please understand that

That answer is of the same format as the others. If one is serious about his feelings towards a certain answer, one should be consistent.
@TildalWave I do understand that, I just don't agree with it.
In the end, as a reviewer, you may do whatever you feel right.

@Adnan then tell that to whoever flagged that answer only... flag the question, I honestly don't have the time to form a coherent opinion of it at the time
Anyway, I think it should be a blog post and updated to be current, add our CTF efforts into it, e.t.c...

10:08 PM
@Adnan 323 ms

@LucasKauffman Don't feel so bad. Mine isn't that different

@Adnan I'm used to 18 ms :p

@LucasKauffman Oh come ON! I was just trying to make you feel better

10:44 PM
your modem looks anything like this? ^

11:03 PM
/ cc: @ScottPack
I'd downvote that in a second.

Mrr?
I just upvoted that to piss off Adnan.
