Question: To Interpret Koine Greek, which contemporary writers can be used for comparison?
The following have been proposed by various community members thus far:
This is a list question and thus not constructive for the SE Q&A format
It's a general reference question (and a better fit for Wik...
@Davïd I wasn't totally making that up, but your way seems to be much preferred, so thanks for the revision. Looks like my error was propogated to Jas3.1's answer as well.
@Susan Thought you wouldn't mind - I did check fairly carefully before the edit! While -or (perhaps from sailor?) does come up, the far more common is -er, so thought that would be preferable for searches, etc.
@Davïd Thanks. I actually deleted your comment to since it was on the wrong track. They were suspended for a week over on C.SE, hence meta is not the right venue (at least not C.SE or BH meta, technically the main meta could be used but I didn't want to explain that. It wouldn't help them.
@Caleb Not to worry about the comment - that was just a holding measure until a mod could get to it.
@Caleb It was a bit rapidly constructed in any case. :) But it must be late where you are, but you're the only mod in the room just now. Give your previous interaction, I thought you would be interested.
@Davïd Ya, thanks. I wish I could think of something that would helf them, but given the amount of thelp they've been offered and refused I'm not hopeful.

This post was inspired by a similar post on C.SE, and also uses some of that content.
1) We are a Q&A site—not a forum!
As our site...
yes, I read that too... still not sure, the site seems to be a Christian site (am not Christian by the way).
However, I find the Bible to be a remarkable historical, cultural and even observational-scientific text
I have been reading the questions on the site, I see a bit of historical questions, a lot of cultural (inc linguistic) questions and almost no scientific questions - the 1st 2 are good signs, the 3rd not so much. But, I see in many answers considerable theology from a Christian perspective, including what seems like prosthelatising (sp?)
as a 'de-converted' former Christian, I am apprehensive of people trying to 'save' me - as I find it disrespectful of my beliefs (not 'non-belief' - I believe in a very different view point).
