@SabreTooth yes, we're trying to curb that more
@SabreTooth I'm also not a fan of it

@Davïd This is great, thanks, provides a lot of context relevant to my question as well.
What is the "J-M material" referenced in the section right above the summary?
Also, in the line below that, is that yod + (I guess?) apostrophe some sort of abbreviation for יהוה
(Too bad I couldn't put a question mark after that.....confounded by RTL again!)

8:40 AM
@Davïd Oh, I think I may have figured out the answer to that first question - it's the Joüon-Muraoka grammar mentioned in the previous paragraph?

@Susan Good morning, Susan! Was working on an edit - thanks for the input.
@Susan Yes, I was refraining from putting in the Tetragram - perhaps I need not have worried.
@Susan And yes, J-M was the Joüon-Muraoka stuff.

@Davïd That's a standard abbreviation? I only knew because I looked it up...

@Susan I believe it's fairly "standard" - but perhaps not so common?

@Davïd Probably most people who would recognize it with the 4 Hebrew letters would recognize it your way, then. Just not me. Until now.

@Susan I just did a couple tweaks - if there are other typo's, feel free to fix!

8:51 AM
@Davïd Thanks for the additions, will take a look.
I'm not sure if this is what it's supposed to say or not at the end of the 2nd paragraph, "as the material to hand structures in a slightly different way." Does that read ok to you?

@Susan Nope.

@Davïd OK, sometimes we have a language barrier, so I'm never sure...

@Susan It did when I wrote it last night. :D
@Susan It was somewhat opaque! I've just re-worded so I hope that's more clear.

@Davïd And by the way I did obtain and read the "Trio of Prophets" chapter....good stuff, and does exactly address my questions!
@Davïd Looks good to me.

:) Glad it helped!

8:57 AM
@Davïd Do you know why there's a paseq (I think?) between the first two but not between the second and the third? I don't think I've seen that addressed. Maybe it's obvious.
(We're talking about Isaiah 6:3, by the way.)

@Susan I did think about that once, and actually had an idea about it ... I wonder what it was....?

@Davïd Hm, well, it's good to know I'm asking someone who's thought about it (I doubt there are many....) If it occurs to you again, I'd be interested.

@Susan lol - was just taking a look again. I might have a note on it somewhere. If I find it, I'll ping it along!
@Susan It could just be a combination of Himmelfarb's ##1 and 3 (both conditions are satisfied) as outlined in this answer (see second "quote" block).

Q: Why is Revelations canon?

AlticamelusAs a source, the book of Revelation is something of an outlier for a book of the Bible that got accepted into the canonical New Testament of all the major branches of Christianity: it is the only explicitly eschatological work in this common New Testament, its date of composition is generally tak...

Is my qn not clearly on topic?
If not, what can I do to fix the problem?

@Davïd Oh, I see, makes sense.
The Masoretic notation sometimes feels a bit to me like the grid plan in New York.
Should be logical because it’s totally contrived as opposed to naturally evolved languages/streets.
But it often seems inconsistent and confusing anyway. (At least at first glance, for those of us who don't know it well.)
(Sorry if references to streets in Manhattan are not universally transparent. I lived there for a few years, and we tend to assume the world revolves around us, so everybody should know what the streets look like!)
